Once grilling season starts here in full swing I will have hubs throw extra on for me. I guess I just listen to news and media and I dont KNOW that all that red meat won't be detrimental and I say this in the sense that all of our bodies are different. If you have heart disease in your family or other issues. Listen, I know what all the Atkins and like studies say but the truth is what holds true for some doesn't necessarily hold true for all. Moderation and well balance never hurt anyone. I want to teach my kids to like all kinds of things.

Leslie - You are completely right about figuring it out for yourself. And that changes as you do! Atkins doesn't work on my body as well at 41 as it did at 25. Within Atkins you have to find the right protein/fat combination that works for your body at that stage in your life. Despite doing this for 16+ years (albeit off and on) it's hard to get past some things mentally for me. Like "eat the fat" As you age and gets harder to come off you think, maybe I'll go leaner and it will help....errrppp....or maybe not.

I was to the point of maintenance when I got pregnant with my second child and I don't know what caused me to derail. I was good during my pregnancy. However, I know this - maintenance is a battle too. But I'm looking forward to that challenge again!

Thanks everyone. Have a great day...

I will often eat my burgers and serve something else to my family.

"feeding the family" I took to imply that red meat is always more expensive than poultry.

Why do you only eat red meat twice a week? That is not a lot. What are you eating the other five nights?

I did a Woubbie today and shoveled, pitch-forked, and generally through a lot of paper around! And for the first time since I started this job on 12/3, the complex invoicing to customers is caught up and sitting on my boss's chair for review. It's all contract based and pretty complicated stuff, but I felt like dancing and screaming in joy to see my desktop!!

Also got some more client work headed my way - BUT this time I'm not going to put them all first and ignore myself... :) Lunch was a tad light on protein so I had leftover chicken and green beans and then a hamburger chaser.

I am SO going to bed early!!! Woohoo!

Nikki, my whole approach to weight loss and health is as a great big experiment! Just play around with food choices and volume and see what works and how you feel.

I have one cup of coffee and one diet coke a day. The rest is water. I love red meat but feeding the family I try to limit that to one steak and one ground beef night each a week.

I agree about nuts and cheese.

I guess I need to reacquaint myself with my old snacks. Not recalling many fat non protein snacks

You only drink water?
You need to lose nuts and cheese and candy for snacks. They are not great fat energy sources. Make sure you have enough high fat meat in your diet. What cuts of meat are you eating?

Ok. I have the following generally:

Eggs with ham or cheese or bacon or turkey sausage
Nuts or sugar free candy for snacks
Cheese for snacks
Lunch is leftover dinners - so meat, salad or green veggies

Dinner see above. Of some days just a shake if calories are high

I feel somewhat better today as day went on but I think I still need to get things checked out. I should take a multivitamin too.

Maybe it's my crazy work schedule. And maybe I'm not really getting that much sleep.

re: hysterectomy. i think i was left with one ovary. and others i know still have ovaries. still went through menopause shortly after. i was only 35 when i had my hysterectomy, so, that was young to go through menopause.

Man, not sleeping is such a drag. Kept trying to doze off at my desk yesterday. Then I went to work out and couldn't do nearly what I usually can. Better today, but still not good. I'd really like a nap.

The food tracker is a little quirky (some people have said there are other sites with better ones) but it has the advantage of giving everyone (including you!) a clear picture of what you're eating and what might be causing the fatigue. Do you have brain fog too, or just physical fatigue? Whatever is going on might also be aggravated by the time change. I know I'm still pretty loopy over it.

Have you been to the doctor's yet? Have them check all the usual suspects, including thyroid and iron levels.

Well, slogging along today. Got one more task off my to-do list and on to the next. Have a short day tomorrow so I NEED to be productive today! "So, Woubbie, why the heck are you spending so much time on SP today????"

Yikes! Gotta go!

Yes, if you use the food tracker her at sparkpeople, you can make it public and it helps people to see what you eat both to help you and for you to be helpful for others.

Thanks everyone. I still have ovaries so I shouldn't go into menopause. Hopefully. I understand the mood swings and hormonal changes. Wasn't sure about fatigue, break outs, and bloating but alas I guess it's all hormonal changes.

Suzanne, I'll get with you via email or on your page about foods. I'm sure everyone doesn't want to read about me ! Lol !!!

oops, good point, Gail -- if everything is removed, including ovaries, your body thinks they've stopped working, and yeah, symptoms will be there.

Apologies for that oversight. :(

when i had a hysterectomy, the doctors said i wouldn't have any issues, but, in about a year i had menopause symptoms--hot flashes were awful. everyone i know said they went into menopause shortly after even though doctors said it wouldn't happen. i went through awful symptoms. i can't remember how long they lasted--at least a year. it's been over 10 years now and i think my thermostat is still screwed up, though not the severe hot flashes, thankfully.

If you are tired, take it easy. Rest. Listen to your body. Also, post what you eat and drink in a typical day.

re Hysterectomy -- depends if you had a "radical" (all of it, including ovaries, removed, too) or just a partial. If your ovaries are still in or you are on hormone therapy (HRT), you will likely continue to experience symptoms, until the time the ovaries quite, AKA Menopause).

Very very very busy here today - lots of ebay and lots of phone orders, so gotta buckle down.
Everything needs to be completed in the next days - this time, next week, we'll be on our way to the airport, to catch our flight to America. WOO HOO! Can't wait to see my family again!

Had 3, leftover chicken wings (wanted to eat and eat and eat, but I didn't - hubby and I had a deep discussion this morning, and BOY did I want to eat, but I can manage to stay on track!).

Leftover chicken leg and thigh with shirataki-mayo-cream-cheese noodles for lunch, and probably a steak for dinner.

HAPPY THURSDAY!

Good morning everyone!

I hope you all have a successful and productive day. I hope I do as well. I need some advice though. I'm exhausted. I mean totally exhausted. I usually get up and exercise every morning but this week I just haven't had the energy. So I've been exercising at night. I'm still not able to work up the energy for high level cardio.
Beyond that, I could fall asleep at my desk.

I don't get this. I'm eating good. Although, my processed foods and items with sugar alcohol are up. I've vowed to stop this for the rest of March with the March Challenge.

Should I get my iron checked? This is going on two weeks of feeling completely overwhelmed mentally and physically.

Another more personal question (which I can't believe I'm going to ask). After a hysterectomy do you still have a cycle as far as bloat, fatigue, mood swings?
