peas and butter beans are both pretty high in carbs I think. I haven't eaten either for ages and ages.
It's been a quiet day here, I walked this morning it was chilly, but nice. I've eaten well, altho not quite as low carb as I strive for.

OMG, Exotec...Red Lobster is yelling at me!! I love that place and they are having LobsterFest right now...with a double lobster dish that's calling my name! And the crab legs as well! I ask for a very small iceberg lettuce salad w/only a few raw onions in it and blue cheese dressing (2 carbs) I know what you mean about the Cheddar biscuits though..YUM! but, I CAN resist them. As far as beans are concerned, I don't care for hardly any type of beans (not even in chili). So they are not a problem for me. The veggies I like...beets, corn, raw carrots..I can't have cause there are too many carbs, but it doesn't bother me to go without..except maybe during the Summer when I'd love to have a piece of corn on the cob!! Don't like sweet potatoes, rice, mushrooms, squash, broccoli, cauliflower or cooked spinach. So, my 'veggies' are pretty limited, to say the least!! But, at least I'm eating some! lol

I have trouble with all starchy veggies. Unfortunately, those are also the ones I love best! My digestion won't tolerate the usual low-carb offerings. FODMAPs and nightshades wreck me. I can eat mushrooms in moderation.
I used to *so* love salads...but now the roughage is hard on me. I can eat it sparingly. That leaves me pretty much with green/wax/pole beans! I venture off the path now and then with beets and carrots and tiny bits of corn or baby limas. When I say "tiny bits," I mean like a couple tablespoons. Ditto with winter squash. I love it, but it derails me if I get complacent about it (sweet potatoes in the same category).
Used to be, one of my favorite "comfort foods" was a heaping big bowl of white rice with peas. And lots of butter! ooooyummy I broke down and did that one time last year, and I can tell you I won't be repeating THAT anytime soon!!!
Luckily, bacon is my buddy. Currently I'm craving seafood - and I found a place I can get precooked langostino tails for about the same price as shrimp! oboy Red Lobster is calling to me now too. Crab is sounding like definitely the "right stuff." But I'll need handcuffs for their garlic rolls and salad! ...well, maybe I can get away with a *little* bit of salad. sigh
...the problem with people these days is they've forgotten we're really just animals ... (attributation forgotten)

Russel, you can live without peas and butter beans. No need to try them later.

I just don't do peas or carrots or corn. I sort of think of them like potatoes. Butter beans would fall into the same category for me. All to starchy.

Maw, good luck with the pills. Cats are bad like that (at least all the ones I've known). Hard to sneak a pill down them. Let us know how it works.
Cheer up Russell, it's mostly water.

I can have unlimited green beans. I do well with them, tomatoes, onion, mushrooms... berries, nuts, and cheese in limited quantities. I didn't really consider butter beans, peas, or salad to be off plan. Well, I did think the salad dressing was bad, but just 1.5 ozs., what could be the harm..lol. I had the butter beans on Saturday, with no issues, and then the salad on Sunday, which then got me eating 2 bologna sandwiches ( 4 slices bologna each ). I had a good couple of meals on Monday though, and then ate supper with a can of peas. That just released the floodgates. I won't list all the food I ate, because I need to stop chatting, and go do my 2 hour walk soon, and it would take too long.
So not sure what food was bad. I think the butter beans were okay, but obviously salad was a problem. Not sure if peas would be a problem on their own, but seem to be a problem when not solidly in ketosis. My plan is to retreat into my base meals, and get back into ketosis. I will try butter beans, and peas separately at a later date. I seem to get in trouble every time I try to add more variety. Anyone else have issues with peas?
Now I have to go walk, or I won't get it done. My energy is zilch right now, but once I get out in the nice 25 degree weather, I will perk up.

I am so sorry about the binge. I had green beans back in the day and they set off a binge for me as well. Never saw that coming! My future advice... Doctors take one course in nutrition at medical school. I would not trust their dietarty advice. Just stay the course of low carb. No good will ever come from carbs.

I'm having a relatively quiet day at work (boss is traveling...), but I have a ton of work to do. The weather is gorgeous - clear and sunny, but I just walked some checks out to the mailbox and it is chilly! I have salmon planned for dinner - after a dog walk. :)

Because of the severe stomach pain, and hospital visit, I added a few carbs to my diet temporarily. The reasons: Doctor said fiber would help with clearing out whatever was wrong with me. So I had some butter beans, and a salad over the weekend. After the salad on Sunday, I had a binge. Yesterday I attributed it to the salad dressing ( just 1.5 ozs. ). I was doing fine till I had some sweet peas for supper, and I just lost control. I probably ate 6000 calories, and 500 grams of carbs. So today I am up more than 10 lbs, and had to buy my brother some groceries.
I bought myself some pork chunks, and cutting my carbs back down. My stomach pain is gone, and I need to get back on track. I am surprised peas could cause a reaction. Maybe it was just because I was out of ketosis. Now I have to be super strict for 3 days to get back on track.

Hope everyone is having a great day. We have snow flurries, with a high of 27 today, but the bike path along the river is clear, so I will probably take a 2 hour walk to burn some of this water weight off.

Pretty windy here today, but relatively mild. Supposed to rain after lunch though. Not much on the agenda for today, but will go to the library to return a dvd movie and to see if they have that book by Gary ? "Why are fat & What to do about it" I think that's the name. I have it written down in my purse. Then come back home and work on a couple little projects. Have a great day, Everyone!

Circle (women's group) at church this morning, then to a pet store to get some pill pockets for Tanny. She keeps licking off the good stuff I've been putting around her pills and leaving the pills. Durn cat. Then home to do homework before class tonight.
I assume they'll have food of some sort at Circle - at least tea and coffee. I had a good breakfast, and will skip whatever food they have, though I'll probably have tea if they have it.
Yesterday was a beautiful day - high near 60, sunny, breezy. Today it's cold, cloudy, and windy, and it's supposed to snow. Ain't Spring great?

I have not had a massage in three weeks, and I finally have one this morning! I missed them. Then the grocery store. So, should be a pretty good day! Burgers on the grill for all my meals.
