Any time I'm juicing or smoothy-ing anything (including my chocolate protein shakes) I grab a handful of spinach and throw it in. It's one of the raw leafy greens I seem to be able to handle, and it doesn't change the taste so it is an easy way to get in an extra serving. I juice kale since I grow tons in my garden, but find it frustrating since you get very little juice for the amount of kale.

I also love cucumber juice, especially in the summer when it's hot outside.

You can use any geen leafy veggies for juicing: collard greens, turnip greens, carrot greens, radish greens, swiss chard, even herbs like parsley, just use what's available and in season. emoticon

I also juice since I have crohn's disease and can't handle all the fiber. However, I follow more of a paleo plan than true "atkins style" low carbing. I get most of my recipes from Reboot your Life. If I didn't juice, I'd get a very narrow and small amount of vegetables and fruit.

Falconbrother, I have the Jack Lalane Juicer and just bought a book on Juicing. My question is does it get pretty pricey with the foods you juice to have your drinks? I had juiced years ago but found it to be overwhelming at times. I'm hoping to start up again. If I can't find Kale, what can I use inplace of it. I'm glad you put your recipe down. I'll try it.

Makes sense what you said about the fiber. Concerning the very quick weight loss, sometimes this is caused by dehydration and adding more salt to the diet will help that. If you or your wife have experienced any symptoms like headaches, light-headedness or flu-type symptoms that could be what is going on. In any case, even with the carbs slightly higher there will probably be a ton of benefits. emoticon

Fiber is the thing my wife can't have. So, in order to get her some well rounded nutrition I bought a juicer and started juicing about 4 months ago. The only thing that has many carbs is apples and since it's juice only it doesn't seem to hurt us with weight loss. Plus, I walked/ran six miles today so, I think I can spare a few extra carbs. My wife does Zumba 5 days a week. She just started low carbing and is in that initial rapid weight loss so, she's pretty tickled with it. In a little over a week she's lost 9 pounds. I told her not to get used to that rapid of weight loss. Plus, it's probably not safe.

I don't juice mostly because of the carbs, but if you can handle the carbs I see no reason not to. For some people keeping the pulp in there is a good thing because of the fiber. emoticon

Due to my wife's health complications we juice pretty much every day. I'm wondering if others here also juice. Here's our nightly recipe:

A big handful of kale
A big handfull of spinach
A thumb nail of ginger
Two celery sticks
One small lemon or a half of a large lemon
Four small green apples or two large green apples

I know the apples aren't on the low carb list but, it's just most of the juice and none of the pulp. It doesn't seem to have much if any impact on my weight loss. I will say that this concoction does make me feel good.
