Hi Russell, I open a can of green peas and drain out the liquid and if I am not combining more beans, regardless, I add italian dressing and it becomes delicious for me. I like to combine Kidney beans, black beans, pinto beans, garbonzo beans and green peas for a bean salad with dressing. My son is in the Navy and he told me that he was diagnosed with the Norovirus. It causes pain in your stomach, diahrea and vomiting. He had it for almost 3 days and took 3 more days to recover and now when his immune system got weak, he got a cold. He should be doing better now. It is caused by tainted food or someone passing it on who has it. It is very contagious. Not sure if that pertains to you. Hope you are feeling better and get a good word from the Doctor on your results.

I don't drain ground beef to remove the fat...I drain it to remove the water that's always in there when they process it. If I can keep it hot enough while cooking to not burn it, I let most of it boil away instead...but that doesn't always work and I really don't like stewed hamburgers! yecch!

Russell, I have wondered about the draining of the higher fat ground beef. I have to admit I do drain mine.
Good luck when you do decide to go to the doctor.

I had to get up early, since I have a busy day ahead. I have to schedule a follow-up visit with the doctor, since I was in hospital. That will be 3rd visit in 3 weeks now. My stomach pain is almost gone now, so hopefully I am past whatever it was. My brother wants me to go in today, since he has a test at school, and has a short day. I think making it Thursday, his day off, would be better, since then I would have a better idea of if this was behind me. I was just in hospital Friday night, so I don't want doctor to see me, then have it come back. I have gained about 3 lbs. dealing with this problem, and just want it done, so I can get back on track.

Yesterday I had a salad for lunch, so I just had my planned lunch/dinner at one sitting. I had a lb of ground beef with tomatoes, and onions. The meat was higher fat, with chunks of white in it, so it was cheap. Perfect for me. I bought 2 packages. I have a hankering for red meat this week. Does everybody drain their ground beef ? I did not, just added the onion, and tomato, and I even drank the juice It tasted goooood. I was worried that very high fat was a source of the pain in my stomach, since I have no gullbladder, but doc said it was some sort of virus.Not diet related at all.

I am back to walking, starting yesterday, another 90 minutes later. Going to be 43 and rainy today, so after breakfast, I am walking outside. One warm day, and back in the 20's tomorrow. Then probably, a doctor visit, go to the library, do some laundry, and cook my lunch/dinner. I am just boiling 24 ozs of chicken, and a can of peas. I just have no idea what to do with peas. I think of them as a side dish. I also have a mailing to go to. I am active in politics, so it is fun to go hand out with other people who are also interested. Lots of We have our convention this Saturday, and stuff is " going down ". I am just happy to be able to get out of the house.

Anyways, hoping the vet office is open Maw, and they figure things out. Have a great day. Sorry I rambled.
