I lost my father suddenly last year. This exact week. I hate unexpected death. If I just knew he was dying, I would have spent his last minutes with him. Instead, I talked to the doctor and left the hospital thinking all was fine. He died an hour later! Time has helped.

my gramma died this morning. it was unexpected. she was 92 but she was doing well. my aunt had just moved her into a new nursing home on thursday and it was very nice. my gramma was thrilled with the new place. she was well thurs, fri, sat...but, she got a bladder infection sunday night. a few hours later she was gone.
I had a very busy Monday, but am so happy that it was a holiday! I did some client work (got one guy finished and ready to go out the door), knocked some things off the To Do list, had coffee with a friend after picking up my sister's 50th birthday present (a Living Locket like my graduation locket), and then took some stuff over to my mom.
Now I need to start, yup, START, my laundry and it's almost bedtime! Eek. Back to work tomorrow...
Maw, I hope the vet says Tanny is doing okay.

Hey everyone! After going back home for almost a week (and being pretty darn good on my low carb eating too!! lol), it was good to get back to my workouts at the gym today. I think my body & mind missed it a lot! I did do some exercises at my mom's house, so that helped a bit. After my workout this morning, it was bank time, then to the library (which was closed for the holiday, should have known that! lol), then home, then back out and down to the vet's, then home again! Whew!
Maw...I hope Tanny keeps feeling better and better. I found out today after talking with the vet and taking a 'sample' in, that Little Bear did not have any internal bugs. So maybe it is the wet food I'm trying on him that was causing that problem I told you about. Also, the vet has taken my cat, Simba, off the insulin shots! I just need to take him in Friday to have his glucose level checked. If its good, then him just being on the wet food only might do the trick. Which is wonderful! Because If I want to take any trips, I won't have to worry so much about his 'shot'. If you get a chance, send me an update on Tanny later in the week.
Georgia1957....that's club soda remedy sounds great for carpet...do you have one for wood floors?? I took up all my carpet, so I wouldn't have to worry about that! LOL
Kris, you wonder how your son got to his 32nd birthday.... My Great granddaughter had her 10th birthday yesterday.... Seems like only yesterday my own kids were that young and now, it's two generations later........................ If you figure out how it happens, let me know and we'll stop that clock!!
I walked this morning, it was brisk - it was about 35 degrees! But felt good... I was dressed a little warmer today. Now am going to cook a beef brat and cabbage for lunch!

Well, you're back and that's the best thing you could do!
Maw I hope your kitty improves! Our two cats are studies in contrast - one has always been hale and hearty and beefy, while the other one, who suffers from allergies, has been scrawny and scruffy (not to mention itchy!). Well we finally got the correct combination of foods and flea meds (did you know that a lot of cats are actually ALLERGIC to fleas?!) and his fur is nice and sleek finally and he's been steadily putting on weight for the last few months. I have one more experiment to make, and that's to add some wet food to their diet and see if that goes down well or sets off a fresh cascade of problems. (At least if it did I would know what dry food to go back to to fix things.)
Having a productive-without-having-to-work-full-til t-all-day day today. Woohoo! Needed it!

Hey all! Took some time off from Spark (translation: fell off the wagon), but now I am back and working hard to make up for lost time. I think that this winter has just been making me feel so BLAH...I am counting the days till it starts to get nicer out, and the sun shines more than it doesn't!
My week is starting off good, I've got my foods ready to grab (I find this to be of utmost importance for me to succeed), and I have a fresh outlook!
Have a great day all!

Deb-it's my son's 32 bday today!!!!! Holy Moly, how did that happen.....wish I was going to party with him but we are across the country from each other....so appreciate being with your grand baby!!!!! On the bright side, I don't have to deal with birthday cake!!!!! Just trying to see the positive haha
Budgetmaw, when i want to get stains out, animal urine, grease, etc............I found that club soda does the trick. I pour some on the stain, then use a white small towel and step on it to soak up the liquid as much as I can onto the towel, then I use the dry part of the towel to brush the carpet. So far it works great for me. When I lived in Alaska and just moved into a new home, with a light pink carpet, my dog urinated on it...........I called the carpet guy and he suggested the club soda and use it every time. I tried commercial cleaners, little dishsoap with warm water, baking soda etc and this works the best. Let me know if you try it and tell me your results.

Today started off with a bit of excitement. I went down to work at the homeless shelter, which on Sunday nights is in the basement of one of the churches. The women were in a ditther because there was a bat flying around from one end of the room to the other! One of the tall guys was able to trap the poor thing against the wall and then slide some cardboard under the bowl and take it outside and let it go.
Don't think there's much else planned for today except to do some errands and maybe take Tanny to the vet again. She hasn't thrown up since yesterday morning, so maybe she's ok. I've been giving her just a spoonful of cat food at a time, and of a kind that she had been eating last week and tolerating just fine. I'm hoping that the problems were either the new catfood (though I gave her two different kinds and she got sick after both of them) or the cheese stuff I used to give her her pills. In the meantime, the food she had been eating apparently had lots of red dye in it. Even after spraying liberally with something that's supposed to get rid of pet stains (and has in the past) there are still big ugly red stains that don't look like I've cleaned them at all. Ugh.
What a weekend! Just nonstop! And my son has another hockey tournament next weekend, it is a three night hotel one. The week after that we go skiing for a week. Today I am off to an indoor playground with some friends. Always good to hook up with other moms and their babies. I do not understand how some sahm's do not leave the house all day!
