We had a pretty nice day today, sunny and about 48 degrees. Clouded up now though and rain by tomorrow evening. I'm hoping to go walk in the morning before the rain gets here because it looks like it will be a TM or bike the rest of the week.

Tanny is doing better. I've been giving her just a tablespoon or so of food at a time and so far she's keeping it down. And she drank the tuna juice from a can of tuna this noon and took a few sips of water this evening. I'm hoping that the throwing up is just because either the new kinds of food didn't agree with her or the cheese whiz type stuff I put her pills in last night and this morning didn't agree with her. Thanks for the good wishes.

MAW - I'm so sorry to hear about Tanny! renal failure leads to a buildup of metabolic toxins in the blood which the animal hasn't the physiologic ability to process properly. Those toxins will cause the vomiting, most often. The Veterinarian definitely needs to recheck. Maybe s/he can offer some additional therapy or dietary choices that will help. Is Tanny an "only child"? if so, you can try a tiny bit of flavoring in drinking water. Homemade broths (w/o salt) would be good too, if it's tolerated and liked. Don't withdraw the plain water! just offer other liquids in addition. You could ask your Veterinarian about the paste- or gel-type foods ... most animals think they're treats. And they're intended for sick animals, so they're easy on the digestion. For anything you offer, hand-feeding is sometimes the best choice. Our little furbabies will take things that way that they might walk away from in a bowl. Worth a try, at least. But please have your Veterinarian give you all the right recommendations! S/he has your records, and can make an informed decision that nobody else (regardless of experience) can approach.

Please let us know what you find out -?-
hugs and pats all around

i have had sick animals for the past few weeks too. first the cat, then one of the dogs. the dog threw up everyday for a week. i'm not good with it, so, every clean up had me retching and occasionally throwing up too! yuck for all of us. my lucky dh was away that week. emoticon

i hope you guys' pets get some relief from their illnesses soon. i hate having sick pets cuz they can't tell you what's wrong and i feel so sorry for them.

It's so hard when our short, furry family members age and get ill... :(

I'm having a busy day - I did a dog walk with the boys and now they are happy to sleep for a while. I've been working at my desk and actually got a lot of organizing and dumb little tasks done. I'm going to go workout and then after my shower tackle some client stuff that's been here too long. I am SO glad I have a holiday tomorrow!! I think I might actually get caught up enough to feel like I can breathe.

I forgot about tomorrow being a holiday, Lady! I hope the clinic is here is open.

Sorry you're having so much trouble with your pets. Hope they do ok. At least I don't have to give Tanny shots!

Oh Maw,,,I'm having similar problems right now! My cat was just diagnosed with Diabetes about a month ago and I have to give him an insulin shot every morning. Shortly after we started this he had an 'attack'. Vet said he might act like he was drunk/completely wasted and he did!!! It was so sad to watch him. Vet lowered the # of units I was giving him. Anyway, yesterday evening, he had another one, but not as bad. I got a syringe and had to give him some Karo syrup and fed him. By the time I got home, he was ok. He's 9 yrs old. Vet said he might be able to go off of it after his diet straightens out. Had to put him on wet food only too!
And, my 15 yo Benji dog, is not eating much and has diarrhea etc. I hope the clinic is open tomorrow, but its a holiday. If its not, I'm not sure if I should one or both to an emerg clinic which is far away from me as well...like you. I hope your situation works out ok.

Tanny, my cat, hasn't been doing so well lately. A few months ago she was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid, so I give her pills twice a day. A few weeks ago she was filling up her litter box so I took her back to the vet and they found she has chronic kidney failure (fatigue?) - at any rate, her kidneys aren't working right. Nothing to do about it except give her wet cat food instead of dry and make sure she has lots of water. Both conditions are age related. Then a few days ago I realized that she hadn't been coming to the door to meet me when I come home, and hasn't been running out to the kitchen whenever she hears me out there. I took her to the vet on Thursday and she couldn't find anything wrong.

She woke me up this morning about 3:00 retching, so I threw her off the bed so she'd throw up on the floor instead of the bed, which she did. And again about an hour later. And I noticed a small spot in the living room this morning. I decided to skip church this morning, and when I got back after Sunday School she'd thrown up again big time and there is at least one small spot. And she's not drinking and she's not eating much. I think she's sick. The vet is closed today, and the nearest emergency vet is in Indianapolis. I'll wait and take her in to the vet first thing tomorrow morning. It doesn't bode well. The important thing, of course, is to make she's comfortable and not in any pain.

Well, XO is in WACO this morning: "We Ain't Comin' Out." It's just too durn cold for me. ugh

I'd had some notion of checking the big farmers' market south of us tomorrow, but Joe has to work...and it doesn't look like it's going to be anything like warm to me anyway. Looks like I now have to resort to my classwork...sheesh What a fate!

Yes, I liked all the different meats discussions yesterday too! Luckily enough, I've got our freezer pretty well filled up with things that need to be used before I buy more - I say "luckily" because I'm tempted yet again toward beef tongue, which I used to love as a child. So far I haven't gotten it right. I keep trying...but as of the moment I'm relieved of that duty due to limited space.

@ LADYWINDSPIRIT ~
have you tried using your computer for your recipes? I can't believe the size of the file I have in there. Many hundreds of recipes, all in organized folders. I snitch likely-sounding things from various websites, cut-n-paste into Word, and then save the documents. Most of the time I get the pictures and some of the useful user reviews, too. I like being able to add notes to things I try so I can modify for the next time if I want to. I don't have to store a book, or worry if I get "stuff" all over the recipe, because I just print it and toss it out at the end. Simple.

Anybody wants a recipe for nearly anything, I'm your girl! really. I can search my megafiles and email or post anything there's an interest for. Just ask!

Morning all! My day will be spent washing some clothes and putting my Low Carb Recipes, Hints & Misc. into a binder. I want to organized my 'favs' so that I can just flip to a 'meal' or 'snack' or 'desert' section and pick one out for the day or to do a weekly. Then I'll have a section that has a lot of 'hints' I have picked up from everyone on here, that will help me in my journey. My pantry is pretty well set up for the LC eating now, but still have to find a few things.

Sunny and about 30 degrees here in Maryland. So going to stay inside and get my 'book' together, maybe watch a couple of dvds, and put on my Latin dancing exercise dvd. I need to get some exercise in today!!

Smiles!!

I loved hearing about people's favorite meats yesterday. It was interesting. In Cuba, I ate pork all week and a ton of bacon. I enjoyed it, but would not do it everyday like I do my burgers.
Andrew's suprise party yesterday was a huge success. A ton of fun. Today we play in the finals for a hockey tournament at 11:15. I hope we win! Tonight we have the family over for his family birthday.

Snow. Bleh. Made me stop and reconsider going to church this morning: once we drive down Mount Woubbie we might not be able to drive back up it.

God won this morning. Off we go!

Nothing much planned for today but continuing my paper crunching from yesterday.

Have a wonderful day, all!

As I was going to St. Ives,
I met a man with seven wives,
Each wife had seven sacks,
Each sack had seven cats,
Each cat had seven kits:
Kits, cats, sacks, and wives,
How many were there going to St. Ives?

That was quite a thread about meat that you started yesterday with your talk of tolerating chicken but being glad to be back with beef, Suzanne!

Nothing special today. Sunday School and church this morning. I may go out for lunch after church. We'll see.

Another cold day here. High has been in the upper 20s the past couple of days, but supposed to be in the low 50s tomorrow! Then back to the 30s for the rest of the week. Sure does make it hard to figure out which clothes to have out and which to leave stashed away for the right season and the right weather!
