Our office goes to Panera quite a bit, my favorite is the Asiago Roast Beef without the bread.
I was a bit disappointed in the hidden menu, I can get a salad anywhere. By ordering the RB sandwich without the bread there's less carbs then the salad.
Panera has a great nutrition calculator where you can pick and choose what you want on your sandwich, see how many carbs there are with or without certain items. I have to say it's one of the easy restaurants to eat at when your eating low carb.
Getting low carb food at Panera is like asking a prostitute for marriage counseling.
They are the problem. All they are trying to do is lure people back. Low carb requires no help. You can do this at home, cheap, and quick. You know there is nothing at a fast food place that is good for you. Yes, you can lettuce wrap a burger, but they taste better at home.
I am always amazed at the people trying to do low carb with a twist. They have some sweetener, or shake, or bar, or low carb noodle/bread that is going to make it more palateable to do low carb. Personally this is fine, if you think it will work into your plan. Panera meanwhile just wants the low carb people to come back. So they make a " hidden menu ". People will go back, and fail on " low carb ", and then say it doesn't work.
I would wait until they had a " real " menu, and that was the only thing they served. I won't frequent a place that is peddling death, just because the have a fake " low carb " menu on the side.
Subway does this too. Just add the toppings to a salad. Of course, since you are at a restaurant, you will use their dressing, which is loaded with sugar. There is always something that will ruin your diet if you let someone else make your food. Everyone would be better off, if they just ate at home.

This is good to know, although I don't see why they have to hide it. Nothing wrong with catering to people with different dietary requirements if they can't eat Panera's main product, which is bread. Most fastfood places that are known for burgers & fries also offer salads.
Yes I love in and out but there isn't one near me! Also 5 guys now will lettuce wrap your burger or out it in a container instead if just wrap it in foil! Oh and yes it's funny that the CEO eats low carb! I think that was pretty recent thou, weight lost and all!!! But hey I had considered opening a rice pudding store and I don't eat they stuff!!! Lol!!!
this led me on a merry trip through cyber world. apparently a secret menu is not that rare....i didn't know that. although i had a boyfriend in the early 90's that would order a baseball steak at the keg....and it was one of those "secret" items. not all secret items are low carb....or low anything for that matter. some heart stopping stuff that should be off any menu one low carb one though: in and out burger, they have a burger with 4 (yes 4) patties, bacon, tomato and cheese wrapped in a lettuce bun
The ceo of Panera eats low carb! That is why they put this menu in. Alot of there stuff on the menu can be made low carb, I've seen there hidden menu not to bad, I usually get there chopped chicken cobb salad with extra avocado! I love there cheddar broccoli soup but it is 11 carbs!
My thought is it may raise questions ...what's a BREAD store doing providing low carb selections on their menu ?? Hmm..maybe I won't buy that loaf of chiabatta to go after all....Frankly, I don't think I'd want to be eating a low carb anything and having to smell baking bread at the same time....
Probably goes against the whole "Bread" thing that they are sort of known for...

Thanks for sharing. Looks like it's comprised of 2 breakfast bowls and 4 salad bowls. Seems "legal" but not sure what limited "processed" low carbs they are referring to. I'd like to know how low carb the salad dressings are...I am pleasantly surprised. Haven't been to Panera for ages....

Panera just announced today that they have a new "hidden menu." You can order these items in any location but they won't be on any of their menus. These look delicious and I am excited to go there now and try some of these...it looks like a great option for eating out!
