Faith, I ran into a friend I hadn't seen in ages at CostCo the other day ... we were laughing at how "exciting" life was...get up, go to work, come home, make dinner, shower, bed and once a week take an exciting trip to CoCo!

Speaking of CostCo...thinking I've created a monster on that $8 jumbo shrimp splurge! I boiled them with a generous amount of celery salt Saturday evening, got them good and chilled on ice in the fridge and chowed down on them last night....I mean CHOWED! they tasted so very, very good. Still have 4 of those left and another 4 set aside to grill outside... but you know who forgot to pull the propane tank for the grill yesterday and fill it up....hoping if Ace is not open, maybe the Chevron will be filling today.

Heading back up to P'ville to work for a few hours and am hungry for breakfast, so you all have a great day & evening!

Just a note... my life is pretty calm now but much of my life as my kids were growing up was like a soap opera. We went through 2 of our kids with drug addictions/jail and prison times and our other son involved but mostly spared the worst by his little league coach/child molester. Also my DH was an alcoholic for the middle years of our 39 years of marriage. So calm is good. I give all glory to God who is so Faithful and protective and delivered all from their addictions etc. I know that I have a book to write called "A Hope and a Future." We are all doing really good. All of my kids are leading responsible lives and have good families.

I probably need to go write in my blog

Yay!

good morning all,
suzanne, i use a coffee grinder to grind flax seeds, nuts and parmesan cheese. i find the food processor just goes straight to nut butter and doesn't do anything to the flax seeds.

i have been excited this weekend, because i got a new little pony to keep my horse company. he's so adorable, he's only about 2 feet tall. he's a chubby little guy. he might be 2 feet wide too emoticon . anyway, i am going to pick him up today or tomorrow. i hope the big horse likes him!

also, had a chiropractor/accupuncure session done on my horse yesterday. his back is all locked up and he is quite lame. i've never done this before. not for me or any animals, so, i'm looking forward to seeing if it works. i am sure hoping so.

Gail

Suzanne, I had really good results with my Pampered Chef manual food chopper. I see them at Bed, Bath, & Beyond and other kitchen stores, even Wal-Mart and Target. Just keep pushing on the plunger until you get the consistency you like. Of course, a food processor would work great like a Cuisinart.

Suzanne, you grind the nuts until they are an all-purpose flour consistency. Would your son still realize there are nuts in them? Really it just tastes like a delicious cookie crust.

I sort of dragged myself out of bed. AFTER Whiskey jumped in and landed on me... He wakes up with a 'WOOHOO' every morning - life as a Schnauzer!

No holiday for me today - did some cardio and my challenge exercises and then I'm off to Crazyville for the day. This is my last chance to get some clean up work done on her 2012 stuff before an innocent, new bookkeeper lays eyes on it... The New Me is starting tomorrow - on one of the days I am never there. Brilliant. CL has also finally realized that the job she presented to the new hire (30 hours a week, vacation after a year, etc.) is NOT the one that exists and she asked me how best to explain that. Wow. I think a new person could spend about 30 hours a week on creating reliable systems and updating forms and procedures but after CL derails and freelances half a dozen times in the first week she's gonna bail!

Faith, a calm life is good... LOL It is frustrating and uninspiring to try to help someone who keeps inadvertently sabotaging your efforts - however, once I am away from the immediate pain I am sure there's a hilarious book in there somewhere... Hmmm... How to portray a certifiable narcissist as amusing??

In other fun news, a good friend is throwing me a graduation party on the 29th in her beautiful backyard! She's making a cupcake tower... I will avoid the sugar but I can't wait to see how that looks! We're going to work out some details this Thursday - guest list, invitations, etc.

Happy Labor day! No big party here today... my DD is anxious to complete one of the college online courses she started last month and DH starts on a new job at 4:30 a.m. tomorrow! So... we'll have my folks over for grilling steaks and chicken later, but otherwise a normal day!

DH is liking low carb living; it so fits with him. give him a steak and salad for every meal and he'd be happy!

Smiles and Blessings, Marbeth

Good Morning--

Sounds like everyone is up and at 'em today. Hubby and I are having a lazy morning this morning. Our son and daughter and their spouses came over yesterday afternoon for games, visiting, and dinner. Fun!

I made these individual cheesecakes from Wheat Belly for dessert. They were a hit!!! Son-in-law, who eats Primal, had two and at these carb counts, he was still on plan. These will definitely be around at Christmasttime. I especially loved the crust. Better than the traditional graham cracker or Nilla Wafer cookie.

Faith, count your blessings! Most people who have more exciting posts are having some kind of trouble!

I forgot that yesterday I mentioned that I was curious to see how my sleep was affected by actually catching up over 3 days. Well, it's not conclusive evidence, but this morning I woke up after only 7 hours and felt great. I bet that if I had more days off in a row the sleep number would actually be even a little bit lower, maybe 6 and a half. It's good to have a benchmark again! Too bad I had to skip church yesterday to do it!

As I was going to St. Ives,
I met a man with seven wives,
Each wife had seven sacks,
Each sack had seven cats,
Each cat had seven kits:
Kits, cats, sacks, and wives,
How many were there going to St. Ives?

Hi everyone. I was sitting here or rather still laying here in bed with my laptop reading all about what you are up to today and thinking that I generally don't have much that I can share about. But I am going to try to find what goes on in my life that I can share. It is just my hubby and I here at home and we sort of just stay home much of the time with him watching TV and me reading or getting on the computer or doing dishes or cooking or whatever.

We have been trying to eat at home more. It is so easy to just drive through and get something and I can usually still stay low carb doing that but we are trying to save some of our pennies. It is early and he is still sleeping. I just had a cup of coffee with heavy cream and will fix some breakfast in a bit. I think he might want to go out for breakfast. Since it is Labor Day I am not working. But isn't it weird I had a dream that made me mad about work. I dreamed that they sent me off to help someone out and when I came back my desk was gone. Yikes. Probably the meds I am taking and a book I have been reading before bed. I have an appointment today to finish off some plans for our yearly women's retreat at church. I have planned it for about 8 years now. This year is a bit harder planning for some reason.

Well I think I have rambled on enough. You all have a great day and stay safe!
Blessings to you.
Faith

Good morning, all! I started on a decluttering mission Saturday and have been plugging away at it in fits and starts. Yesterday I resorted to the old FlyLady timer to keep on track (every 15 minutes you get reminded to go do something useful, and then you can get back to doing whatever). I'm finally blasting through the filing that's been cluttering my dining room since rearranging some furniture a couple of weeks back. Today's task is the downstairs closet, which I meant to get to quite a while ago. It's spewed jackets and trish trash out into the hallway, meaning that anytime someone needs something they have to dig to get it. Need to fix that before school starts.

My "whatever" time is mostly gearing up for a new World of Warcraft expansion due on 9/25. Gotta be ready! My sister and niece and I have already scheduled it off and we'll be setting our alarms for 2:45am to be ready for the servers to go live at 3am (drat that PST!). This, of course, is after I hang out at my Gamestop until midnight to pick up my collectors edition. LOL! Gamer girls FTW!

Have a great day, all!

You're doing fine, Crystal! Keep it up and the pounds will come off. Which is, of course, easy for me to say. It's easy advice to give but hard advice to follow for myself.

The remnants of Isaac hit here this weekend, and dropped about a third of an inch of rain on Saturday and then about an inch and a quarter yesterday. That's the way I like to see it! The original forecast was for up to 8", and while we need that much, we need it spread over more than just a day or two. High today is supposed to be 82, and lowest humidity for the day is supposed to be 67%. Ugh! Then highs in the upper 80s to low 90s with humidity staying very high. I can tell I'll have my dehumidifier on most of the week.

Nothing much planned for today. I did a frantic house cleaning/tidying yesterday before my guests came for dinner. Now I need to sort out the piles of papers that I scooped together to get out of the way! I have a bunch of paperwork that needs to be done for two estates, and I got a box of canning tomatoes at the Farmers Market Saturday that need to be washed and frozen. And one of my tomato plants fell over yesterday, taking the tomato cage with it. I need to get that straightened out, but that's about all I'm likely to do in the garden today. It's too soggy to do much out there.

Have a great day!

Just waking up here. Will take a few walks with James today. James loves his eggs, but loves ground beef more. Just like mommy! So far my husband has not said anything about what I feed James, but men tend to not notice things like that, lol.

Crystal -- you're on the right track! But I do understand.. I always want more weight lost each week, as well. But we're staying on plan, and that's the way to go, right? :)

Already 10:30 am ehre, and I have no idea where the last 3 hrs have gone! Only have about 1/4 of the (ebay) packing done, and I have to leave early my doc appointment.

Having cream with coffee at present - probably eggs and cheese in a bit, before leaving for the doc's. Dinner is either lamb chops or steak with veg.

Gotta run -- have a super Labor Day or "regular" Monday, All, depending on where you live!

Tonight I'm attending a cheese tasting. Mmm Mmm!

This morning for breakfast I made Julia Child's scrambled eggs (I was inspired by reading her memoirs, "My Life in France".) They were so good! I also had some bacon on the side.

I lost another pound this week, but I was hoping for more of a loss. Sigh. Oh well, at least it is a loss. Net carbs today=12
