I think someone should start a new team for 2012 Warrior Dashers or just Warrior Dasher period and not deal with the year thing. Maybe I'll start a team. Go Warriors!

Thank you so much for the feedback! My goal is not to be first, but to NOT be dead last.

Thankfully a large group of people have suckered me into doing it so I should have plenty of support. A few have promised to help me along the way, but I just don't want to bore them or make them not have fun, you know? Also being 4'11 has me a little worried, but that's just a daily struggle/obstacle. :)

First off, don't let yourself get too freaked out, you have plenty of time to prepare between now and September. I saw lots of people doing walk/run intervals during the race and a few even just walked most of it.

As far as building upper body strength, a basic ST routine should be fine. Pushups and planks are both great for helping to build shoulder strength and wrist strength as well. Bicep curls with weights or bands are great, as are basic tricep dips to hit the back of the arm.

I would definitely bring a pair of weight training gloves (or other gloves--preferably fingerless) to the race, it helps with the rope work a lot, plus just helps protect your hands period.

I loved my experience doing Warrior Dash. They don't have one near where I just moved to, so not sure if I'm going to do it this year or not. Are you doing it alone or with anyone? I did it with a group of other women last year and we all had a blast! So special, and we all stuck together and crossed the finish line all basically together.

Thanks! I'm in freakout mode because I feel super un-prepared and I've already signed up and paid for my race in September. If the weather stays nice, I should be working on my first week on C25K tonight and I'll also throw in some push ups.

Any advice for building upper body strength for the cargo nets and the walls?

Unfortunately, I don't think the team is super active right now, I think we will see that pick up as it moves closer to race season. However, if you need any help or have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them for you. :)

Is this group still active for 2012? I'm excited about my first Warrior Dash in September (actually my first race ever) and wanted to have a place to share my training experiences and ask questions and lend support. Anyone? :)
