Welcome Nicky. Right now our group seems to be most active in the challenges section so go check out our latest for june and july. I'm also a stay at home mom but that title might be a little misleading sice I don't actually seem to be home much.

Checking in! I'm hoping winter is nearing the end! I'm finishing up a Winter session of Tae Kwon Do - all five of my family have been trying this out. I have to say that I've never found another exercise that removes muffin top quite like this one. WOW! I'm almost sad to take a break but Spring means soft/baseball season and we just can't do everything. Spring is when I switch more to exercising on my own rather than attending classes so wish me luck in keeping up the routine!

Doing fairly well for winter here - January much better than December as far as getting my exercise hours in and eating well. Stress levels not great but I'm working on that! Spring will get here eventually!

Cut up all the bell peppers and celery and carrots into strips. We ate on those for a few days and now I am juicing the peppers (since the kids think they are from another planet). Then they will drink the alien juices in their smoothie this afternoon! Bwah ha ha ha.

Stars - how about some nice red pepper strips or a little cauliflower instead? I'm lucky that chips hold no appeal for me so I'm rarely tempted. (unless I'm sitting in a Mexican restaurant and the basket holds warm chips and I've got a margarita and then all bets are off - but that's not very often!) I've gotten in a few good workouts this year too. My kids took up Tae Kwon Do this month and once you buy two memberships the rest of the family is free - so I'm doing it with them (in addition to my zumba and yoga.) Why should the kids have all the fun? Four of us earned our white belts yesterday!

Two good work-outs this week. Food...better than the holidays, but the Ruffles are calling me right now. Doesn't the healthy yogurt dip need a means to get into my mouth other than a carrot? What am I saying?!?!?!

Looking forward to starting off this year like 2011! Our 100DTS Challenge started it all for me and I know I can get back to that firmer body I had then. My goal is to start next week working out 4 days a week. I 'll also try to be more active on Spark. I am only 800 points from my next trophy! I CAN do it!!

I'm here welcome back Joanne! It's ended up being a crazy couple of weeks - long story but the short of it is that I'm the peanut butter in my family sandwich and being spread a little too thin between the multiple generations of bread. Trying to be good about taking care of me too.

I don't know about you but it's getting COLD around here. Brrr!!!!! I can't wait til after Chee's birthday as she'll be 7 and can go to the gameroom at the gym and not the baby area. I think less kids and less germs live in the game room.

Tgive day was good. I didn't host just cooked a bunch of stuff to take to my in laws. Their house is always clean so it's easy to go and take food. Had to cook turkey again on Sunday so my family would get turkey sandwiches but I still didn't have to have my house "company clean" so that's good. Went to the gym Thursday and Friday. Took the weekend off. Really should do better at fitting in a walk or something on the weekends.

Too busy to really sit down for a few, but wanted to say hello.
After Thanksgiving week we're back to eating real food and not just junk. My oh my, I tell ya my body hated me last week. Well, maybe my intestines did. I think after eating well for a while the junk really kicks me in the gut. Literally.

Checking in! How was everyone's Thanksgiving? We just stayed home, I made turkey breast, stuffing, green beans and cranberry sauce! Eddie got a stomach bug so we're all exhausted from marathon diaper changes and sleeping with him on the couch (the only place he'll sleep when he doesn't feel well! uhg!)

I'll countdown to Christmas with you as long as the rules aren't too structured. I'm trying to exercise a minimum of every other day (I know every day is better but some days it just isn't happening!) A few crunches and squats (and maybe some arms) would be a good addition.

Glad to see you both! Maybe I'll go nudge some more people!

MaryOh reached out and nudged me to get back online. I've been awol while trying to cover far too many other things in life. I started running again last week, and am signed up for a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving, running with my dad and brother. This is the 2nd year we've done one so I'm hoping this is a new family tradition. It's nice to have something healthy in addition to oodles of food. I also restarted some strength training and have a goal to do at least some crunches and squats everyday. Those I can squeeze in no matter what I'm wearing, often while doing other things.

Anyone want to join me for a Countdown to Christmas workout routine?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to get back to normalish! Eddie's been super super needy lately, if I come near the computer he cries. Blaaah.

Other then that I've just been trying to start up a small crafting business, funny onsies, crocheted hats, and funky jewelry.

I'm feeling a lot more positive lately, getting out of the house everyday to play at the playground with the boy, working on my art. Now I just need to squeeze working out and spark back in! Thank ya'll for bearing with me. I'll try and be around more! Thanks for reminding me MaryOh3!!! emoticon I needed the nudge!

Glad you're back YCA - we had very little impact from Sandy - just some flooding around our local lake and some tree/wind damage to others in the area. Power outages were mostly resolved within 48 hours. Nothing like what's going on further north.

Darn Sandy is messing with my exercise time - my classes have been cancelled for the past few days and I'm stuck in the house with my kids. Finally resorted to a rather wet walk in the rain. Anyone else having Frankenstorm issues?

In the last ten days or so I've made meatball subs, pasta fagioli, chili, potato soup, chicken and wild rice soup, Tex-Mex chicken and beef with noodles.

Hey Mary. I am, in fact, too swamped to stop by most days. We're finally getting into some sense of routine but the level of drama at our house keeps throwing me off kilter again. I almost begged off my run again today but my husband talked me into it. He's such a good hubby.

Oh man, what a weekend. Still trying to figure out Eddie's issue but my mom decided to step in and give me a weekend "off". So she kept the boy so I could go watch my hubby's band play at a popular country bar/night club (also, line dancing is amazing people watching, some of these people are SO good at it but look like they'd rather be doing anything else or else like this is just something that is happening to their bodies...). Then got to sleep in on sunday and go to the China Buffet here with my hubby on our first date night since our honeymoon night in July, and third since the boy has come to be :)

I feel better, more ready to face the day. We're going to re-start therapy (by we I mean me) in october. I'm going to find a place closer to home this time.

I'm happy its monday and wonderful. Eddie is still in a mood and back too having a painful gut, he's lost about a pound again, I need to get the blood work done for him but he's got to be fever free and we haven't had a fever free time for a while *headdesk*

The easiest crock pot dinners are what I call meat+sauce. Take frozen meat (meatballs, chicken, pork, or beef) and add grocery store sauce (spaghetti, bbq, gravy, whatever you like) put both in the crock and cook. Serve with some microwaved sides (or veggies from the crisper) and you've got dinner. My favorites are meatballs (I get mine at costco) with spaghetti sauce (on multigrain sub rolls) and boneless/skinless chicken thighs or pork loin with BBQ sauce. If you're new to the crockpot this is a great place to start and it's easy so getting this in the crock is quick and doesn't require much advance planning.)

As a side note my husband (who doesn't diet) lost quite a bit of weight when we started crocking and stopped eating out because I was making the healthier choices for him.

Love the crock pot, and just broke it out again after several months. Made my favorite chicken tortilla soup. I'm very close to starting all those kid activities - we're starting swimming in a few weeks and a church activity as well. Should start getting busy around here!

I've got my crock pot going most days so we can serve up a healthy meal when we're home - who cares if it's 90 freaking degrees and humid - I just don't think I'll be doing soup anytime soon. This week's crock dishes have been beef with noodles (and microwaved veggie sides) and Mexican Chicken, beans and veggies with brown rice - not perfectly healthy but much better than fast food! Hang in there Stars! We're about to head into the crazy part of fall where we grab dinner whenever we're home. Crockpot meatball subs with veggies from the crisper anyone?

Where do I start? Good to read and see all of you! WE are ALL struggling.

HERE"S A RANT:
I was sitting in the "tumble club" while the boys got all their monkey business released and I kid you not there were more Chicken Express and Chic-Fil-A cups and bags of food than I have seen at the park! It's gross how these kids come to practice with a bag of fried food and a coke. WAKE UP PARENTS!!!
Now I am struggling with the fast food desire and oh-so-easy dinners, but this helps send it home. I have got to QUIT the FAST FOOD!!

I am joining September a little late, but I'm here!

Hi guys, I'm back from the dead! I finally was able to drag myself out of a sucky work project that was god awful and I'm back in the game. Saw some drama, that's always disappointing. I'm here to support not judge!

Anyway, I haven't run in a month, and I'm in week one of another 10 week training plan for a 15K race in November. 3 days in and I'm on track - I'll celebrate a small goal ha ha.

Can tell I've fallen off the exercise wagon these past few weeks - this is bad - very bad - because when I fail to get out and move enough things start to HURT. Took a fast paced mile and a half to stop the aching and another mile and a half to feel no pain but at least I got out there. This is what happens when I let the end of summer schedule get in the way of taking care of me. Darn it - I hate it when I forget to take care of me!

Feeling a little better today. But, kind of excited, because I'm *finally* going to go get an eye exam today so I can get glasses. SO overdue. sososo sadly overdue.

Hi gals!

I'm back (again) I'm jumping in on the challenge. I am really stressed out right now and have a ton of personal crap going on so I hope this gives me some control over something in my life.

Ugh.

Hey all!!!

To clarify, it isn't so much computer problems, as it is Spark not always loading for me. I don't have issues with any other sites, just this one. And it kind of *half* loads. Stupid internetz.

Also ...

Dear Mother Nature,

While I'm glad you're here this week so that I can enjoy my weekend away with my Hubs next weekend, must you terrorize me so and leave me crippled with pain? You're kind of a snitch.

With hatred and annoyance,

GAH ... glad you're in the end zone my friend.

I'm moody today. Had a bad day yesterday, dealing with some anxiety, and have some homeschool drama I'm struggling with. This is all stuff that will pass, and I know it, but I immediately go back to food for comfort, and why-oh-why can't I kick that habit?!? Le sigh.

Ok, on to a more positive outlook and a better day today. Because, my only choice is to get back up and keep fighting!!

Went back to zumba this morning. Hoping I have the lice pretty much under control. We'll retreat everyone and rewash all bedding etc in about a week just to be sure and I'll keep combing the kids as long as they'll let me. Now back to the rest of my life!

Riki - You have no idea how good it is to see you back and active. Love you Girl!! xo

OK even hearing about lice makes my head itch, I'm so sorry Mary and also scratching now.

I've read a few blogs and even (gasp!) written one of my own. First on Spark since January. I blog too much at my other page, so doing it here too seemed like a chore, but it was surprisingly freeing. :)

It's Friday? Hmm, need to meal plan the weekend or we'll be eating fast food all weekend long.

Yep - it pretty much sucks to be me right now. Have gotten a handle on most of the laundry (sheets, towels, stuffed animals, dirty clothing that my daughter put back with her clean clothes so I'm now re-washing clean clothing just in case.) I have treated everyone in the house. 3 kids definitely have them and my husband and I have been treated as well. Still combing to make sure they are really GONE. We go through this every couple of years - seems lice really LOVE my kids hair. Completely exhausted by bedtime but am hoping I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Good news is that middle daughter allowed me to trim a couple of inches off the end of her hair - she hasn't let me trim it in a long while and it needed it. Lice combs won't go through split end tangles so now it actually looks a lot better.

Too tired to go to zumba last night.

UGHHHHH, Mary that sucks sooooo bad. (And, I just started itching all over thinking about it, LOL) I have been there with my kiddos, I feel your pain. The worst was when **I** got it, too. And I have super super thick hair, that - at the time - was really long. I chopped off about 8 inches in my bathroom. After a gazillion treatments, and finally getting rid of it (and taking the week off of work - so long vacation time) ... I went in and had it done. ohmygosh. Love you girl - I promise, this too shall pass. ***still itching***

It has been a long week, got homeschool started. Slowly, but we're getting there. I only had to threaten the 12yo with death and decapitation a couple of times ... I call it a good week. ;)

Spent yesterday at the hospital with my dad for a heart cath. Interesting story with a butt kicking. I'll be blogging about it, read if you have a minute. :)

@Mary- UHG! The lice thing is HORRIBLE! If you find more after the boxed stuff try listerine! My mom discovered that after some weird super lice outbreak at the school my siblings were going to had. The blue stuff, on hair under plastic bags for an hour.

Eddie is going to be seeing a lot of specialists coming up here soon, poor guy! Something is definitely wrong with his inner workings and I'm SO hoping they figure it out FAST.

All I have to say is nothing ruins your week like the words "Mommy, I found a bug in my hair." Three kids - lice treatments for everyone - off to Target!

And, I guess I will be getting plenty of exercise stair climbing to do all of the laundry I'll need to do today. (sigh)

Hey - you can probably burn a LOT of calories turning cartwheels. Just don't hurt yourself. Don't crack your skull open - that would stink.

Having a rough week here. I fell off the wagon yesterday, in an ugly kind of way. Like, spicy sammich and waffle fries from CFA kind of way. It was total weakness and laziness. I had given myself one freebie french fry indulgence a week, but I smacked that down yesterday and went overboard.

Climbing back on today, Ladies. Because that is all we can do.

My crazies don't go back until the 27th. We have 2 milestone years coming up. The Girl Child is going into 8th grade, last year of Middle School. Bozo is going to 5th, last year of elementary and JBird is going to 3rd. I will be the mom doing cartwheels down the street next Monday!!!

Well, it is Monday - the nightmare day for us all. But are we going to let that get us down? Heck NO!! We're going to pull up our big girl panties, think about our choices, get up off our butts and move around!

Then, we're probably going to fold some laundry, wipe some noses, complain to a girlfriend or two, roll our eyes at our husbands, pour a glass of wine, and go to bed.

Because we're awesome.

Who's sending kids off to school this week? Princess is starting 5th grade in public, Red (7th) and Fluffyheaded Diva (1st) are starting homeschool tomorrow. And Sir Smiley is going to run around and make us all crazy.

Doogs, you need to do one of NinjaK8's 18hour diets. Look through her blogs, and you'll find one. :)

Things here have been busy this week. I just can't seem to catch up, no matter what I do. I've got to get on schedule next week.

Having a bit of a bump in the road. Eddie has been sick for a couple of weeks, he's finally over it but has a horrible yeast infection now thats just making him miserable. He also lost so much weight he's only 19lbs now, he'll be 18months on the 22nd. My pediatrician said to go easy on the gluten but really its more important to get food into him now, he is eating, but back to picky toddler eating. So I'm pretty much feeding him junk in hopes that his weight loss turns around. This is sooo frustrating. Maybe because he was such a low birth weight and it was such a struggle to get him to thrive in the first place but now every time the scale goes down I freak out. He was almost 25lbs in july right after our wedding and he lost an entire pound from Monday to Thursday.

So what has he eaten today among the healthy options mommy has provided? Almost a whole sleeve of oreos. *headdesk*.

One of the things I do when I'm super stressed is to make a plan. I plan what I'm going to eat all day, so its a "no brainer." I just grab what I was already going to do, and my stress/frustration/insanity doesn't affect my decision making. It doesn't always work, but sometimes it helps. Hang in there, Dugie!

Why is it that you can eat healthy for days and days and lose little to no weight but if you eat bad for 2 days you gain 3 pounds?????

Good grief.
If we are TELLING other people that they MUST follow our current diet plans, then we're endangering others. (Possibly -- if you believe this is dangerous.) And we'd be annoying.

If we are simply communicating what we are doing, we are doing nothing that should cause problems.

Mind your own business, and keep your medical opinions to yourself unless you are a medical professional.

Also? "My sister doesn't want me here anyway..." Are you here for HER or for YOU? SP is a big, big place. You can find a group that is perfect for you, and let us stay drama-free.

And so you know, I've been doing the HCG thing since May 1. I've lost 40 pounds and have done it eating fresh meat, veggies, fruits, and some bread. Lots of water. No alcohol or processed foods. My doctor is over the moon with my improved health.

If you really had a concern for my health, you'd probably email me directly, not splash it on a bboard. That smacks of "Bless your heart" self-indulgent insult.

And finally, SP does not have ONE "diet." Look over the teams. There are people doing low-carb, some doing SouthBeach, others doing the 17-day, and so on. Gluten-free. Vegetarian. Some bariatric patients. Please, please don't assume that you know The One Diet. There isn't one.

:stepping off my soapbox::

Wow. I missed all this yesterday. Darling dears - I personally would not make the HcG choice but I will support y'all in whatever you choose to do that keeps you on a healthy track. I'm so very glad to hear that each of you is working with doctors. Mostly, though, I'm glad that y'all have found hope for change and a new life. Spark on, ladies. Together, we can make a difference.

I love you all and I think you are doing fabulous. We are here to support each other and lift each other up. We are not here to judge.

That is all.

It took 20 months - TWENTY months for there to be an issue on here. This makes me very very sad ... and this post is soooooo misguided, and will be sooooo misunderstood by so many people.

Ladies, I have a few things I want to say.

1) About HHCG - there are three of us on here right now currently doing this: Me, NinjaKate (or KateInMichigan), and Mandar. All three of us are under direction and/or supervision from our doctors. We're not just jumping on something just because it is the latest fad or craze.

2) Spark - obviously - is all about healthy eating and exercise, but as a collective group, none of them look down on anyone for their own personal journey. (short of eating disorders or things that everyone knows is wrong) ... There are teams for HCG, gastric bypass, paleo, south beach, etc. If there's a diet, spark has a team for it. They don't condone anything - that's why spark is so successful and so user friendly.

3) Yes, I'm the acting leader of this group, but I don't force anyone to do what I'm doing, and I don't tell you that you're wrong for doing it your way. HHCG was a decision that I had to make for me, because I couldn't stand the battle anymore. I actually did need a magic pill, an easy fix. And it isn't magic, and it isn't easy. But (except for today - that I'll post about later), I have felt better these last 3 weeks than I ever have before.

4) If you follow Joppa's links you'll find that she is a distributer of Shakeology. I'll be honest with you and tell you that I don't know much about Shakeology, except that I have 3 friends that did it and all 3 of them stopped within a month, hated every second of it, and gained more weight than where they started. I'm sure there are success stories, but I don't personally know any. And, if I understand it correctly, Shakeology isn't exactly all "fruits and veggies and squats" either.

5) ..... And this is the important one, y'all..... I don't know Joppa, just what she's shared on her blogs and other posts. But she seems like a very unhappy, bitter person, who lashes out at inopportune moments about things that have nothing to do with anything else. For all we know, she could have had a fight with her husband (who seems to be quite scary from what I've read), and is taking it out in a place where she can feel better about herself.

My ex was an alcoholic and very abusive, and this was a tactic I used DAILY. It was the only way I could survive.

For the official record, I have received an apology from Manda, who didn't know where this started or why her sister has lashed out this way. Manda, I wanted to respond to you publicly - her words have no affect on me, and I hope on anyone else. Her attitude is not a reflection on you in any way whatsoever. We love you very very much, and I personally am blessed that you are a part of my journey.

Manda has said it best, it doesn't matter what path we take, we're all here to be a part of each other's journey.

If any one has any questions about this, feel free to post them here for general discussion, or spark-email me privately, and I will answer you as quickly as possible.

love you all...

If its cool with all of you I'll stay even though I'm doing hhcg under a doctors supervision and the paleo diet? Haha

I'm by no means an expert but considering some of my best friends are taking hhcg and by my advice/encouragement, I need to tell my sister that there are several groups for HcG and HHcG. I'm sorry you feel you can't stay but thats fine because you're in like 80 other groups.

And just so everyone ELSE knows, this is a journey we're all taking together. I see no difference in taking hhcg and following protocol for 30 days and getting a tummy tuck. We should all be there for each individual journey because at the end of the day we don't know that other person that well. We don't know what other things are going on with them. We're just support, bricks in the walkway of each other's journey. I want to be part of y'alls.

Love you hookers!
