YAY Doogs!!!!!!!

I'm newly thankful for something that happened today ...

My 2.5yo has a speech delay. He had severe chronic ear infections and had lost 60% of his hearing. He had tubes put in, and now has 100% of his hearing. But his speech has not yet caught up.

This is kind of a weird struggle for us. The other 3 kids were speaking in full (and long) sentences before they were 2. The fact that he has only a handful of words is a HUGE change for us to deal with ... kind of like the kids being on 2 different sides of the Grand Canyon. Additionally, he is PAINFULLY shy. So, the only time he talks is here at home with us. No one else hears him talk. Like, we can't even do speech therapy for him, because he wouldn't talk to the therapist, just hide behind my legs or bury his face in my neck.

Ok ... all of that to say this ...

The past few days, he's started really mimicking what we're saying. His words are still very muddled, but we can tell a definite change. But today? Today he said his first 3-syllable word. And it was as clear as a bell.

My sweet baby boy said LULLABY.

Bawled my eyes out :)

So ... I'm thankful for my baby starting to speak.

I'm thankful for so many things today. My Father in law's surgery went well and he is feeling better, I had to take my kid to the dentist last night and it ended up being free ( we have no dental insurance) and I found out there was a little bit of money in an account my dad had in a credit union. I am executer (sp?) of his estate and the money goes to me!

It's almost Thursday so here I go: I'm thankful for family. Our van broke down on Saturday night, an hour away from our house. Luckily, my parents and my brother's family were all there so we all squished in two cars to get us home. (The van is in the shop for untold $$ worth of repair.)
I'm thankful for safety: we were in the Virginia earthquake. The kids and I were all in the kitchen making bread so there was no frantic mother-henning to do. Hubby immediately sent an email to tell me he was ok at work. We (and our extended family too) got through without a single scratch or even a broken dish. And once we turned it into a science lesson, the kids brushed it off with ease.
I'm thankful for gorgeous weather: we've had open doors and my kids have been running themselves ragged flying kites.

It has been a really really long time since any of us have done this, I'm beginning to wonder about our gratitude level ;)

Mine especially. I've had a lot of walls lately, and I should be so very glad to have broken thru them .... but ... I'm not. I'm just tired. Deflated. My self-esteem is shot.

Ah... I'm grateful that I have all of you to come to and share that with. xoxo

I'm thankful for safe, healthy children after a bike accident on Monday. I'm thankful for summer so I don't have to convince Peanut to go to school with her eye the color of raw meat. I'm thankful that two of the three go on vacation with their mom tomorrow so I can be a great mom to one kid instead of a just-getting-by mom to three. (That ego boost goes a long way when the two come back.) I'm thankful for the good friend who recommended the good book that has gotten me through this emotional week.

Today, I'm thankful for my hubby who has really taken over this weekend (our weekend is Tues/Wed because of his job) so that I can really heal from this bronchitis. I haven't had to do crap the last couple of days, and its been awesome. Will last until about 2 today, until he has to go to sleep so he can go back to work tonight.... but I've enjoyed it while it was here! :)

I'm two hours early but I always forget on the real Thursday so here I am.

I'm thankful for good music and friends to share it with. I'm thankful for limes and the gin they mix with. I'm thankful for books to read with my kids and the new discovery that they'll fold laundry as long as the story keeps going. I'm thankful that Peanut is starting to regain the confidence that was stomped out of her at school this year. I'm thankful that Monkey didn't suffer more than she did from a year of being neglected as too good/smart/quiet to be worth the teacher's attention. I'm thankful for lots of time to explore the world with all three girls and that they still think I'm cool enough to spend time with. And I'm thankful for my darling husband, because even when he's too busy to notice that I'm sad & lonely, he's still the most loving person I know.

I am so very very thankful to have a husband that knows I needed to feel a little extra pretty and he let me go out today WITHOUT THE CHILDREN, and go shoe shopping and have a nice time. But more than anything else, I'm so very thankful that he's returned back to his normal self again, I missed him so much!!!!

My list of thankful is sooo long this morning, I wouldn't even know where to begin. Our friends for supporting us and praying for us, the doctors, Nemours (the most amazing kids place in the world), and HUGE love to Ronald McDonald House. If you have one an RMH near you, see what you can do to help them because they are AHHHHH-mayzing!

Today I am thankful for doughnuts, John Frieda, and coffee. Our server has been down at the office for about a week now and is expected to be back up and running today. Everyone was understandably grumpy about today given that we're all about a week behind in most of our work. The doughnuts I picked up this morning have done a lot to improve everyone's mood. (Note: Sometimes the best decision isn't the healthiest one.) Thanks to John Frieda who makes the Dream Curls spray I've been using on my hair in the mornings, especially since it has suddenly decided to start producing exceptional curls that take under five minutes to fix.

And finally, thank you coffee. I didn't sleep well last night. I woke repeatedly. Your magickal, delicious elixir of life has given my morning a new burst of life.

YCA, I totally understand. Hubby was a miserable SOB when unemployed. A little self respect goes a long way.
And MUST I be thankful for the belly dancing twins? Fine. Given the fact that I just had a banana milkshake at Chick Fil A, I will give thanks for my extra thanks.
Don't know what I am actually thankful for. How about that I made it through another day? Or that someone else has to pick up Miss 6.5 from Girl Scouts? That I haven't eaten ALL the cookie dough in the fridge?

Hey, Ladies!!!

Today, I'm Thankful for Theme Parks. I'm so glad hubby finally got a job, even if it is "just" 3rd shift custodial. I can already see a change in his personality. I'm starting to see glimpses of the "old" hubby again. Today, we're going to go to Islands of Adventure and hang out. It will be the first real date we've had in a while...

Today I am thankful for unemployed best friends--er, I mean, babysitters... Yesterday my son got sent home from preschool for his allergies. Apparently, they were mimicking pink eye symptoms by making one of his eyes a little goopy. His teacher knows that it was allergies, I know that it was allergies, but rules are rules and without a doctor's note to verify it was only allergies, he had to be out of day care for a minimum of 24 medicated hours or accompanied to daycare by a doctor's note.... So he's hanging out with his uncle today while I'm at work. I'm also very thankful for Samurai Jack, who entertained the kiddo on my laptop while he was in my office this morning waiting to get picked up.

Tonight I am thankful for rum. I had a crap day. I am even more thankful that I am back on track and can afford to have a rum! (Even though I worked out an extra mile and some strength to get rid of the frustration). I am also thankful for the fact that even though I was exceedingly pissed off as I went to the store, I didn't buy anything stupid that I would regret tomorrow.

Today I am thankful for the end of my school year. I have a final tomorrow and then I'm off until fall. I'm also thankful for my blog, without which I would have gone insane this week. Finally, I'm thankful for my sister, who has finally convinced me to use some of my tax return to splurge at least a little bit on myself. We'll be going to Anchorage for a weekend shopping adventure. We'll also be stopping by the museum and the zoo for the kiddo's entertainment.

I'm thankful for a lot of things today... I'm thankful for:
-Blogger, for being my DIY therapy this week when I can't afford the time or cost of real therapy.
-Today's paycheck, without which I couldn't have paid my mortgage for next month.
-My son, for waking up on his own this morning without me having to fight and drag him out of bed.
-Craigslist Personal Ads, for reminding me why I'm still choosing to not date, and for making me laugh.
-Mother Nature, for attempting to help me knock off my ex by flooding his hometown... It didn't work, but at least she tried....

I'd also be thankful fo the IRS for giving me my much needed tax return, but I haven't gotten it yet. That being the case, eff you IRS... Eff you and your slow return process. I have other bills to pay dammit! Also, eff you for taking more money than you needed to in the first place!

It feels hard to be thankful today: lots of fighting and emotional messes, not to mention weather troubles and our first-ever tornado sheltering for the kids. But I'm thankful we're ok. I'm thankful for the beauty that comes after rain. I'm thankful for passionate approach my kids have to life.

We're having a really rough week around here ... so this morning I'm thankful that Jack and I had a really long talk last night about how horrible his disobedience has become and he seemed to see things from our point of view. Taking him to the behavioral psychiatrist today to be evaluated for asperger's. We've decided that until we can get him evened out a little, we're going to be putting him on some meds ... either for adhd or anxiety or depression ... we'll figure out the right combo today. He's just so far beyond reality at this point, we're not able to reach him until he literally falls over from exhaustion from fighting us. None of us can live like this anymore.

Yeahyeahyeah, we skipped last week, and its late today, but its still Thursday, and I'm still thankful!!!

I found an inner peace today. I'm not sure what it is really, having a hard time putting my finger on it. But a peace it is, nonetheless. I'm thankful that I'm finally able to listen to my heart. And be strong and ok with my choices. I feel like a grownup.

Today I'm thankful for having friends here who don't judge me and aren't competitive with me. And are totally okay with me being kind of a loser nerdo.
I'm thankful for my mom, who is awesome and totally deranged for not joining us (because she would fit in so much better then me :)).

And I'm thankful Eddie is taking a nap.

I am thankful that I have a group of you on here that truly truly get me, and accept me for the insane stupid cranky crabby but totally awesome hooker snitch I am. Yesterday was rough, and I couldn't have made it thru without some of you - thanks!!! Also, way glad hubby and I worked things out last night and have stopped fighting, cuz it totally sucked. He even gained bonus points for going to Jack's sleep study cuz I really didn't feel like it :)

After listening to the custodial grandparents of one of my students, I am especially grateful for all I have. When you hear that a student used to literally go foraging for food by himself at age 6, 7, it puts things into perspective.

I am sooo very grateful for all of my friends - both Spark, and non-Spark, that have surrounded us this week in our time of stress and frustration. It has been so much easier to contend with knowing we're not alone!!!

Today I gotta say how thankful I am that this challenge of ours has blown up like it has. I'll admit I was overwhelmed when I realized that our numbers had almost doubled and most of teh challenges had 100 people in them (or more) ... but that's so much more awesome then if y'all had said the idea sucked and totally ignored it ;)

There is absolutely no doubt about it - I am so very THANKFUL for all of you who encouraged through what has been two very difficult weeks. Not just falling off the fitness wagon, but emotionally draining in all areas of my life. I love you all!!

Also, while I'm very thankful for the extra hours from my job this week, I'm also very thankful that I was able to have the morning off today and could be home to watch Lady Gaga on GMA. ;)

My FAVORITE day of the week!!!

I'm thankful that we don't have just one shot at this. I'm failing miserably right now - and I know that. I'm frustrated and confused and losing sight of my goals this week. But that doesn't mean that I've lost my only chance. Today is a new day, I need to rejoice and be glad in it!! And I'm going to! You ladies are awesome cheerleaders, and I'm so glad you all are here to encourage me and kick my butt. Huge major hearts!!

I am extremely grateful for everyone here---- for a couple reasons:

1. you all let me tell you what *I* think without telling me to shut up

2. you all make me laugh

I am especially grateful to Ycamommy for being such a sweetie pie and really digging in to running this team! We have become friends on here and off here now!

I am thankful for all you ladies (especially Yca!) for keeping me from becoming a total loser nut case. Oh and everyone who posts and blogs and in general makes me feel less alone in the world!

Also thankful for Pepco people who only let us be without power for 6 hours last night in the snowstorm. I am not thankful, however, for the person who plowed our parking spaces and covered my honda in a 4ft drift. Oh well, not like I'm going anywhere emoticon

Now...snow frolicking.

CRAP!! Was so busy being sick I forgot it was THANKFUL THURSDAY!!!!!! ;)

Today, I'm thankful for all of the loving thoughts I was sent out when I vented about the situation between me and my dad this week. I'm at work now adn dreading the conversation I know is coming. The love you guys showed me was wonderful. Many thanks to you all!!

I'm also thankful to the guy who decided to put Vicks in Puffs tissues. But, I bet it was a Mom. ;)

However, I am not thankful to PirateGirlMel - because I KNOW she's the one that got me sick!! ;) xoxo

LOL GCB, you totally crack me up. A couple of things I need to point out... just for clarification purposes...

1) Are we talking like awesome unicorn from Harry Potter? Or like animated Care Bears type unicorn? Because, if its the latter, I'd rather be a sorceress or something like that. Or maybe even Hermoine Granger. Or even just Emma Watson - she's cool.

2) *snicker* I love seeing my name in caps, but you don't have to scream at me whenever you talk to me. You can just say "Yca" (its pronounced eeekah) or "Headmistress" would be fine, too.

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha

I love you girlie!!!

Awwww... YCA, Thanks! =) I think you're pretty darn fantastical as well. Maybe even magical... like a unicorn. I dunno. I'm in class. My brain is fried. But you're awesome!

In addition to YCA, I'm thankful for all you ladies. You are what keeps me logging in everyday. The support, guidance and camaraderie I find here keeps me accountable, on track and making progress. Thanks, All!! =)

p.s. YCA-Great idea! You rock!

I am thankful for all you ladies. For the motivation and encouragement that you all give each and every day. Especially to Peebbles for posting that awesome blog about the scale not moving. That really motivated me at the time to always remember it is not all about the scale. And to Lydia/Julie for posting their journey and getting me up off of my a$$.

I'm thankful for Lydia/Julie's honesty. I'm so proud of her for starting this team and allowing me to be a part of it (even inviting me), especially since I once knew her in person!

Today, I'm thankful for my co-deputy, the Minister of A$$ Reduction herself, GCB. Thanks, girl, for helping manage the Sanctuary of Snarky WeightLoss ... couldn't do it without you!

Also, a ton of mad love goes out to VegLillie - who is my inspiration for all things awesome, and is the Princess of the PlayPlace. You Rock, but Tone It Down, Dude. bwahahahaha

Good Morning, Ladies! Today is THANKFUL THURSDAY!

This is lame, I know, but you love me anyway. Remember in Legally Blonde 2 when they all gave "snaps" to each other? I thought it would be fun to do our own version on here. Encouragement is so much more a part of our success than what we give it credit for. Because when we really really want that huge slice of chocolate cake or contemplate a ceremonial burning of the Shred DVD's, we have each other to lean on to get us thru it.

So, take a minute today to thank a friend, either in this post, on that person's page, or by private message.

I am THANKFUL for ALL OF YOU!!

xoxo
