6 Healthy Diet Habits

1. Food Portion Control
Portion sizes have grown right along with waistlines. Clean Your Plate Club isnít a good idea.

2. Eat The Right Stuff
Whatís good? Whatís bad? Amid the confusion, there are still some basic nutritional truths that put you on the right path.

3. Exercise Consistency
The other (underestimated) half of the calorie equation. Boost your diet with some simple, steady activity.

4. Drink Water
Sounds simple, but it could be the habit that makes all the difference this time. Itís easy to get what you need if you know how.

5. Eat with Awareness
Question: How much weight gain is due to not paying attention or eating for the wrong reasons? Answer: A lot!

6. Find Unexpected Opportunities
Thereís a right time (anytime) and a right place (anyplace) for exercise and eating right. Get in the habit of saving time and spending it wisely.

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your own unguarded thoughts.
Drop judgment and pick up love.
If you can move a grain of sand a day, eventually you will move a mountain.
Crappy choices bring crappy feelings.
Can'ts are joy limiters.

First the thought, then the action.
Measure and bag food ahead of time.

Thank You for all the tips, I think i'll start measuring more, and bagging my snacks ahead of time, I also find logging what i'm going to eat the day before helps me.

Portion Control is still hard for me. i am starting to get better at it. but when i am idle at home i often get cravings. i think i found a new idea that should help me when i first get home after work. at work i pack portion controlled snacks so that is easy.

Don't forget to be awesome.

Day 5 - I now eat slowly, with awareness and stop when I am satisfied.
Today the thought appeared that I wanted to nibble. I told myself no and did something else. It seems if I catch the thought when it first appears, it is not hard to say no.
Obviously, if I do not catch it, I end up nibbling.

Laughter is the best medicine. The best things in life are free.

Learn to say 'no' to the good so you can say 'yes' to the best.

Action with no plan = chaos

The ego tells me you can't do it. The spirit tells me I can.

Each time I say "no" to impulse eating, I will visualize fat melting off my body.

I started journaling more, even if i just scribble some notes about what i am thinking about or feeling. it is helping at work because then it takes longer for me to pause before i eat. that is my biggest issue to portions- i just keep eating,

I have to measure nearly everything except vegetables. Otherwise I trick myself into believing I am consuming less than I really am.

i buy bags that hold no more than 3/4c and i also have sealable containers that are 1/2c and larger. practicing a mindful eating exercise is also helpful. I write down what i eat and it helps me be aware of what i am eating and how much before it foes into my mouth.

Measure and bag as much as you can before hand. Nuts, crackers, vegetables, etc.

Thanks for the info and reminder! This is a major obstacle for me. I do use the smaller plate method, which for me, does work. I've also just gotten my digital scale out. It has been in hiding since Thanksgiving, But it has found it's way back to the counter along with measuring cups and spoons.
I too will eat more fiber rich food, and drink that water! and measure, measure, measure! ;)

Thank-you for the reminder, Chercon! Portion control is something I need to work on and after reading your email and the article I am making it my Spark mantra for the coming weeks. Drink water, eat fiber foods, eat slowly...I will go and have a glass of water right now!
PS the links in your email may not be working -- they didn't work for me anyway, I found this through the Team link.
