Portion Control is still hard for me. i am starting to get better at it. but when i am idle at home i often get cravings. i think i found a new idea that should help me when i first get home after work. at work i pack portion controlled snacks so that is easy.

Day 5 - I now eat slowly, with awareness and stop when I am satisfied. Today the thought appeared that I wanted to nibble. I told myself no and did something else. It seems if I catch the thought when it first appears, it is not hard to say no. Obviously, if I do not catch it, I end up nibbling. First the thought, then the action.
Happiness is remembering what I really want. Laughter is the best medicine. The best things in life are free.
Learn to say 'no' to the good so you can say 'yes' to the best.
Dream with no action = wishful thinking Action with no plan = chaos Dream + action + persistence = success
The ego tells me you can't do it. The spirit tells me I can.
Each time I say "no" to impulse eating, I will visualize fat melting off my body.

I started journaling more, even if i just scribble some notes about what i am thinking about or feeling. it is helping at work because then it takes longer for me to pause before i eat. that is my biggest issue to portions- i just keep eating,
i buy bags that hold no more than 3/4c and i also have sealable containers that are 1/2c and larger. practicing a mindful eating exercise is also helpful. I write down what i eat and it helps me be aware of what i am eating and how much before it foes into my mouth.

Thanks for the info and reminder! This is a major obstacle for me. I do use the smaller plate method, which for me, does work. I've also just gotten my digital scale out. It has been in hiding since Thanksgiving, But it has found it's way back to the counter along with measuring cups and spoons. I too will eat more fiber rich food, and drink that water! and measure, measure, measure! ;)
If it is to be, it is up to me.
So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains, and we never even know we have the key.
Thank-you for the reminder, Chercon! Portion control is something I need to work on and after reading your email and the article I am making it my Spark mantra for the coming weeks. Drink water, eat fiber foods, eat slowly...I will go and have a glass of water right now! PS the links in your email may not be working -- they didn't work for me anyway, I found this through the Team link.
The only difference between 'try' and 'triumph' is a little 'umph'!
