I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN,,IF WE HAD SOMEONE TELLING US WHAT TO DO,,IT SOMEHOW WOULD SEEM EASIER,,WE KNOW THE INFORMATION AND WHAT WE NEED TO DO BUT AFTER A WHILE I THINK WE JUST GET BORED DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER,,SO WE NEED TO FIND WAYS TO INCORPORATE HEALTHY EATING EXERCISING IN MORE FUN WAYS!! Why is it so freaking difficult to stay on track? I like my walking, like healthy foods, I just don't understand how I can go from doing great to doing nothing! Are the bad habits so deeply ingrained that it will take years of doing good stuff to overwrite?

Its funny we both gained back 17 pounds.

Hi Cheryl, I do remember when we were both very active on this site. I quit tracking when I had lost 39 pounds and was at 181. I started back up In January at 198, so I also gained 17 pounds back. I have been tracking and walking like crazy but it is coming off very, very slowly. After 7 months on track I am at 187. It appears that it is going to take a full year of staying on track to get back to where I was. It is frustrating but at least I am headed in the right direction. I haven't read the new book but I have heard good things. My problem is that I know the correct information, I just struggle with sticking with it for the long term.

Turtle congratulations! I hope Levi is doing well!
I've been a Sparker for over 3 years now. You'd think by now I'd have a clue!

Gained 17 pounds since I stopped reporting to SP. At least I know how to lose, back to basics!
Anyone read the new SP book? Is it worth reading?

I am back from my vacation trek across the northeast. I got in a lot of mileage but my meal plan fell apart the last four days. I have five days before I return to work so I am going to try to use this time to clean up my eating and get back on track.

Thanks Auntmaryann, My second child was born 8 weeks early back in 1983 and he is now over 6 feet and 200 pounds so I am confident that this little one will make great strides. We just have to be patient and give him some time.

My new grandson, Levi, was born Friday evening after a 5 minute breech birth. He is 10 weeks early and weighs 2 pounds 10 oz. He is on a respirator in NICU but doing well given the circumstances.

Sorry folks, I have been kind of out of touch this week. My second daughter has been hospitalized for five weeks with preterm rupture of membranes in her third pregnancy. This week there were some further complications that kept me with her at the hospital. My online time will probably be sketchy for the next several weeks. Her membranes ruptured at 22 weeks and we have now made it to week 30. Hopefully she can wait another 4 or 5 weeks before delivering but that is a lot of time to be lying in a hospital bed.

I don't have issues with the sodium. Mine is the sugar content. Processed foods have too much of both.

Welcome back Auntmaryanne! I had joined weight watchers too last year- lost pounds, gained pounds, lost money! I know what you mean.

Turtletalk- I'm doing that challenge too. I'm bad about tracking sodium. I think the absolute key is staying away from processed foods. Fruits and veggies- and doing your own cooking helps. I'm also doing the Biggest Loser Challenge. It's 12 weeks and I set a goal of losing 24 pounds in 12 weeks.

Welcome Walden9! I'd love to see more activity on this team. It's good to 'see' a new face.

This team originally began as Twelve Weeks of Healthy Habits and we added one healthy habit a week until we had all twelve as habits. Then we continued the team into Twelve Months of Healthy Habits. The goal is to try to continue with all of the habits every day, every week, every month.

Check in regularly and let us know how you're doing. It's all about moving more, eating well, sleeping, drinking water, and being healthy.... hopefully losing weight (if needed) at the same time!

I am doing a challenge team in addition to this team. This week we are focusing on reducing our sodium. I do take meds for high blood pressure so sodium is one of those things I need to watch but I am finding it very boring to stick with foods low in sodium. Anyone have any great ideas?

I have not been active on the site because I was going to Weight Watchers, which DID help lose 25 pounds. But stopped going and regained 10 pounds very quickly. Why is it so hard to lose 10 and gain back 10 in less than a month?

Anyway, I feel like I wasted over $250.

So, inspired by Duff's return, I am back. I've lost 3 pounds since I've been back and it didn't cost me a cent!

For several months I was the only one on here so I just chose a habit and worked on it myself. The concept of the team is that we are supposed to work on and track all 12 habits. If you are fairly new to this site 12 habits may be too much to tackle at once. If that is the case then I would choose a few to work on at a time. DuffyDyer is also on here on a regular basis. She was the original leader so she can give you better guidance. Good luck in your journey.

I am glad I joined also. and yes it is frustrating when no one reads. I was asking what our goal for this month was or are we suppose to pick one ourselves and no one got back to me. back in 2008 I see listed 12 new healthy habits. are we still suppose to post our own, or are ones going to be posted by the leader of this team

Hi Turtle and other team members!
Yes, it's a busy time of year for all of us in education. I hope the school year is finishing well for everyone- students, teachers, administrators and parents!

I'm happy with my progress since April 1 and trying not to beat myself up for 'losing my mind' and going AWOL for so long. I keep thinking of where I could have been with my weight and health...... but that doesn't change anything so I try to let it go. AND I'm trying not to get impatient with my progress. I've been consistently losing two pounds a week, which I know is AWESOME and I shouldn't expect any more than that.

So- my goal is patience and continued motivation. Have a good week everyone and please check in and let us know how you're doing with your healthy habits!

Hi team!
I'm pretty happy with my slow and steady progress. When I re-set my goals on April 1st I chose to go for the maximum allowed of 2 pounds a week. At the end of 5 weeks I've lost 12.... so I'm two pounds ahead of goal! I know the pounds come off more quickly in the beginning and it will be hard to keep this up... .but I'm 'all in".... and I'm feeling healthier :)

I used to belong to this team when it started, but slowly the participation by members waned. I am back and will try my best to participate more often. However Summer is here and it is motorcycle road-trip season, so will be MIA often. In fact the Run For The Wall event will start in May. Will probably put on more than 6000 miles before the trip is over.

I had a successful week, lost about 1/2 a pound. I have been getting in at least 5 miles of walking per day but I am having problems with one heel. I am afraid that I have a heel spur and that the only way to let it heal is to back off the walking.

I am picking up two of the grandkids and either going to the zoo or botanical gardens. Should get in lots of walking and some always interesting two and five year old insights.

Rocking and rolling on day four of the rest of my life- walked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and today, stayed in my calorie range. Feeling good about it!

Crazy weather today. Snow to rain to sunshine to sleet w/ snow and rain mixed then back to dry and sunny.
Bad news for me is that my yoga membership expires next week and I doubt that I will be able to afford a new package plus the fitness trainer at the gym is leaving after next week. Sigh.
