CHERYL_LYNNE Did you get a HRM? If you did how do you like it?
Have you compared the calorie burn of an exercise to SparkPeople or equipment at the gym?

I currently have "The Sharper Image" that works well but I am looking to get another one soon. I use it exclusively to monitor HR and calories burned. I find that the equipment I use show a erroneous number and many times so does SparkPeople. Everything I have read from the experienced runners is "Trust your calorie burn from your HRM". Costco has a Garmin Forerunner 405CX for $219.99. It has a GPS for when I transition my exercise to outside.

Now I have to thank myself for remembering and go et it now!! I will hand my Sharper Image down to my wife.

i agree. I love my polar. I've had it 5 years and have only changed the battery in the watch part once. the chest strap I don't even really notice. but as the previous post says, it is right where the sports bra is, so often I put the chest strap on, and then adjust it so the bottom of the sports bra is right on top of it.

Love my Polar! Won't workout without - no matter which workout I do, weight lifting, jogging, elliptical - use it for every type. Great gadget, easy to use, strap isn't bad (fits right were sports bra hits), so I never notice.

Glad you found one you like.

Mine has the chest strap also It's really comfortable. The other 2 I tried had really uncomfortable straps that I had to keep adjusting. I'm sure they worked fine for guys but for woman, not so great.

OK after 2 returns, I got the Polar FT 4 woman's "training computer", that's what they call their heart rate monitor. It does calories burned, total time, time spent in the "zone" which is when you are in the right heart rate for aerobic exercise which is the best for losing weight and maximizing your workout. Your supposed to do at least 20 minutes in that zone, the longer the better. It beeps when you drop below it. It stores like the last 5 workouts I think. This is defiantly a great tool to have!

I have a Polar that comes with the chest strap and watch and I LOVE it! I never work out without it. In addition to displaying your heart rate, it shows it on a scale within what your heart rate range should be and it displays the calories burned.

It took me a couple times to get used to the chest strap but now I honestly don't notice it at all.

Mine was in the low $100's but well worth it emoticon

I love my garmin 305, although that may be more than you're looking for (both in price and gadgetry, however you can often find it in the low $100s now on sale). It combines the strap heart rate monitor with a watch device, and can also record pace, distance, time etc along with a GPS function. You can turn off the GPS if you are using it on the treadmill for heartrate only.
Good luck!

I brought a sportsline duo with the strap. I'm not really liking it and am thinking of taking it back. Does anyone have one they recommend that's under $100?

I'm not a runner, I do treadmill or walking outside.
