Whoo Hoo Chuck! I'm signed up for all of the team goals too.. and so far I'm making great daily progress! If I have to let one of them go it'll be the 93 mile a month goal so I can keep up with the 168 mile a month goal.

Well Duffy has not killed me yet. I have decided on 1/1/11 to do all the challenges. So far I am on top of things and feeling pretty good about all the miles. At this pace I am sure I can succeed.

I decided on the 1111 miles for 2011. I think that's more my ability. I have done 6 miles in one day in a walk-a-thon, and I regularly have been doing 1 and 2 miles with a few days of 3 miles. I got 1 1/2 in yesterday and today so I'm still behind. I can catch up by the end of the month, though, I think. How would I count a Curves workout in the walking???? I don't think the 1111 miles will kill me; the 2011 might. LOL

I am sooo out of shape and the numbers were freakin me out. I will go for the 1111 challenge. Looking forward to a new me in 2011 !!

LMAO. Chuck, in retrospect, I think infiltrate is the perfect word for what I do at the gym also. I approach from the rear, as to not disturb the equipment. I start slowly so I don't get it too excited. And just when it seems beaten, I don't trust it because it has been known to come back to life and kick my butt.

I sneak up on my equipment and then conquer. Infiltrate is a good word to describe what I do at the gym: a. To pass surreptitiously into enemy-held territory (the machines). Like the Terminator movies. b. To penetrate with hostile intent: infiltrate enemy lines for purposes of espionage or takeover.
But....in the wash Incorporate is a good word also. My fingers have a mind of their own while on the keyboard. Not my fault

LOL on Duffy's comment on the title of the post. I think it seems apt...HOWEVER, Chuck, look at it this way......
When we are unhealthy, we are killing ourselves. So, either Duffy is trying to help us to LIVE, or she is killing our old sitonyourasssortoflife (nicely called sedentary) so you can have a kickasssortoflife. Hope you can read those without spaces LOL. Pardon the french.
Bring on those challenges, Duffy!!!!!!!! I'm going to shoot for the kajillion (oh, it's only 2011 miles? Heh, I can do THAT!) miles challenge because Duffy says I can. And if Duffy says I can, that's good enough for me......... However, for someone who maybe needs a lesser challenge, the 1111 challenge is something that you can push for and if you achieve it by July/Aug/Sep - push for the next one!!!!!
Oh, I see you've changed your tune, chuck! Congrats!!!!! I'm so proud of you, little motorcycle leather wearin' grasshopper........
By the way, infiltrate? Are you now in the Army behind the lines? LOL. Are you going to sneak up on the recumbent bike????????? LOL. Just kiddin. I know you meant incorporate.......
Duffy, thanks for the link on other activities instead of running/walking - I elliptical a lot, but other activities will help - maybe I'll try something new to kickstart my new year!!!!!! (Chuck, get your mind out of the gutter, your wife will smack you on the head).

I am back with the 168 mile/mo challenge. Originally I thought the challenge was for walking/running miles. So now I can infiltrate other exercises such as the recumbent bike. Just rode 10 miles this morning.

We did a walking competition at work over the summer, & I was walking about 4+ miles a day, plus whatever I did at the gym (I usually just added in a mile because I couldn't wear my pedometer & get an accurate count). So thinking of it as just 6 a day, surely I can do that much. I think I'll aim for the 1111 to start, then join the other if it seems too easy.

Thanks for the other goal! I am always up for a challenge, but with my schedule lately, 3 miles a day will probably be all I can accomplish;)

This morning I was talking to my husband about this challenge and he said "You can do this! It's only 6 miles per day!" It dawned on me that it is so true because already I am walking nearly 80 miles a month and if we can actually calculate our other cardios, then the 168 miles a month is more than feasible for me. Yee Haw! 2011 here I come!

That goal seems doable for me. I was really worried about the 168 miles a month, but I usually run about 3 miles a day give or take a little so I will first try that 1111 miles goal. Maybe I can exceede that amount.

How about another goal of 1111 miles in the year '11? That would be something that walkers could achieve no?
Good luck Chuck! I am signing onto the team but I am going to pass on the 2011 miles. I am still working to get 60 miles per month. I think I will shoot for 1011 for the year but I admire you and Duffy's ambition.

Today I find I am having to train for one of Duffys challenges, 168 miles/month. Just got back from the gym where I did 7.05 miles!! That included C25K Training 3.1 miles on the treadmill, Walk on the Treadmill 3.1 miles, and a cool-down walk for .85 miles. Managed to burn 2203 calories in the process. I will see how I will feel tomorrow and hopefully get in at least 6 miles.
