Day 3 = 10/15/12 Monday

After work I walked the park. What is good about taking a pet to the park is that they dont want to sit down... they are on the go and it pushed me to continue up the hill when I wanted to sit down.

The good side is that I was able to time it this time.

up the hill is 10 minutes
down the hill is 10 minutes
for a total of 20 minutes of walking.

I was shocked emoticon that I walked that long and was very happy too emoticon


Day 3 and I feel my lungs are expanding and that is a good feeling.

I am less out of breath when I walk and that is a wonderful feeling emoticon

good morning everyone, just joined this team.

I did 2 days of walking in the park UP this long hill... thought I was gonna die... LOL but I didnt.

it is now day 3 and I am trying to create a healthy habit of walking because since day one I felt the benefit of walking which is less and I mean less shortness of breath as I walked, so because of that...


I want to do it again emoticon



problem is that right now it is 4:45am and it is dark outside in the park that I go to.
yes i can walk anywhere but the challenge is the hill in the park which I use as a visual.


solution: maybe I can create a habit of walking at the park after work :)

Last week I went to jazzercise x2, water aerobics x1, hike x2, power walked 5 miles and averaged 12,000 steps each day my total weight loss was .3 lbs , Yikes what happened emoticon

Gained a pound this week but not feeling discouraged...hoping it is building muscle but no matter what the reason..I am not giving up. I am following the program...exercising..although I could add another day one...I feel great though so a new week starting!

My first week went well. I'm staying pretty much on track of my goals. I still have to work on my surplus of carbs. Man I love carbs. I did lose 2lbs and staying active daily. Lets see where this week leads me.

a week ago I gave up caffeine and two weeks ago I gave up starches, bread, grains replacing those with more veggies, fruits, nuts beans...it was so hard because I got sick from it but today...I feel great...so my goal for this week is to take one day at a time, and to make my goal of 8 glasses of water a day

I have been doing terrible with mindless overeating or the trying to practice using my willpower. did not do well tonight for supper. i had a plan but i did not stick with it, wednesday night will be a better test. not sure why i struggle with overeating, but i will continue to make healthy portions at home a healthy habit.

I have been at a conference all week and didn't manage to log in. I wore my pedometer and got in 5-8 miles each day. My eating was different but not bad. I am sure that I went over my calorie bank on one day when we went out for Italian but I think I am within ranges on the other days. I generally ate oranges that I brought for breakfast with a skim latte. For lunch I just had another orange and some almonds. Dinners were meals out with an occasional bloody Mary. I will weigh in tomorrow and just hoping to have maintained.

It has been a good week "spark" wise. I have done at least 30 minutes of cardio everyday and I stayed under 1400 Calories 6 of the 7 days. I did top out at 1570 for Easter but the eating remained in control. I plan to weigh in tomorrow morning. I am headed out for a work trip tomorrow. I will be at a conference with 6 co-workers without a fridge or microwave for the next 5 days. I have a few non-refrigerated snacks packed but 5 restaurant days sounds intimidating.

i am still not very active on my weekends. I tend to sit at my computer too much. i do putter a little, but i do sometimes make a point to start doing a a small task till to see if i continur to do more. I am not the most mindful on my eating. I sometimes don't work out very intensely. i finally cleaned and organized 1 of the bathrooms.

I am back home after a 7 day road trip. I decided not to bring Sparkpeople along for the ride this time. I did a healthy amount of walking and made some good eating decisions but certainly not A+. I will weigh in tomorrow to see just how I did.

Way to go Duffy on the 5.5 mile walk. even with some running... i don't like to run but if i dropped sine more lbs i may enjoy it. i instead enjoy doing some other exercised instead... when i was younger. i don't think i would have ever said that i liked to do different exercise.

We had a potluck at work today. i overate, but i did take smaller portions of things, i ate a later and smaller supper when i got home. i have been really sleepy this week. i will admit i feel really low in energy. i don't like the idea of taking supplements because the tend to be artificial chemicals that are not part of a healthy lifestyle so i am working instead on my willpower and attitude to try to get me going.

Still around. not making a lot of progress.. mostly because of attitude. i have been frustrated because i am not making a lot of headway. but i will admit i did but candy in my shopping cart and put it back on the shelf later.

still working on my healthy habits. i have been doing better about packing my lunch earlier and not allowing myself to continue to snack. it is a bad habit that no only causes extra calories but prevents me from sleep as well or as much. so i really want to worrk on it a lot for the next 30 days to see if i start getting better.

I have got to get back on track, as the pounds are creeping up. I overendulged yesterday by convincing myself I could handle a carton of ice cream. Needless to say, the ice cream handled me. Today is a new day.

for lent i am giving up a few of my bad habits.

These are the 3 i am working on:

1)No eating in the car while running errands. For some reason when i do errands i crave sugar. I am almost never hungry, but yet i want a snack.

2) mindless eating at work. this is a tough one, but i already started to practice this one so i will be ready for it. so for 40 days no buying junk foods from the vending machines - no buying or bringing pop at work. also no getting danishes from the vender.

3) no snacking after 10pm on weeknights. my plan for succeeding at this is to pack my lunch earlier, and brush my teeth right away after showering.

these things can help prevent 2-3 mindless snacks a day. I am hoping this retrains my stomach so i can better recognize the difference between hunger and emotional reasons to want food/sugary treats

Just did a 6.27 mile walk while listening to "You on a diet"
What a fantastic guide to health!
I got the book on CD's at the library then burned them to the computer and put them on my iPhone it's great to listen to while walking, makes me feel "extra" healthy LOL

Still working on some habits. i get mildly tempted and sometimes give in with little to no fighting it. i am doing better at work. I want to change my snacking habit so i make better choices or do not mindlessly eat.

I had one of those Reese's peanut butter shaped heart for Valentines, I brought one for me, my hubby & son.
They are still in Miami, I got to spend the last couple days down there shopping & doing there laundry LOL

I have to say you guys living in the cold places who still get outside to exercise are really devoted to your workouts! We've had a relativity mild winter here in Central Florida but this weekend has been cold. Its not even the cold that bad its the wind that makes it miserable. I did 4 & half miles walking yesterday, was going to do 5 but the wind was making my walk miserable and with TOM & cramps I totally talked myself out of that extra mile LOL

Still here and still sparking!

Turtle - are you sure you're getting enough calories? I stop losing if I dip below 1500, and actually have better success if I stay closer to 1600.

I've been good about my yoga poses this week. I only forgot about them one day.

When I work I usually walk for a little while during my breaks, but last night I went and walked up the stairs. I was winded after going up four floors--I can see this is something I should definitely start doing on a regular basis.

Just checking in, nothing new here in terms of my plan or of weight loss. I have done a good job of staying around 1300 calories but no pounds have gone missing. I have not been as consistent in exercise as I need ot be. I hope everyone else is doing well at our healthy habits.

I have not been doing super well this week... So I'm not expecting to see much of a loss come Monday's weigh-in. I just haven't been very well focused on my eating. I haven't been eating enough protein early in the day, which just leads to me being too hungry and overeating on things that aren't worthwhile.

I also need to make a commitment to getting regular exercise. I've been lax in that area for a long time, and it's really the component that I need to focus on if I want to move forward in improving my health.

As a baby step in that direction, I am committing to performing at least two sets of the sun salutation yoga poses, each day for the next seven days. I will check in at least a couple times this week to let you all know how I'm doing. I work tomorrow (Saturday) night and then Monday-Wednesday nights, so you may not hear from me until later in the week. But this should provide me with sufficient accountability. :)

I hope you all are having a lovely weekend! Remember--one day at a time.

I am learning that I cannot be totally focused on "weight loss". I can't live every day with that as my focus. I have learned so much since joining SP and I'm using all of it every day, making better choices creating better habits but it is a slowwww journey and I can't keep a high intensity on anything that long LOL
I'm focused on healthy because if you eat healthy your bound to lose weight because healthy is correct portions, lower fat, exercise. We just need to keep on going!

Happy Tuesday. Great job Chercon! I, on the other hand, seem to have gained 4 pounds since the new year. I admit I haven't been doing sensational but I have been under 1500 calories every day. I think I need to see my Dr. about some tests.

Still here, just not as much Spark time, I have been on a real cleaning binge lately, which my house appreciates! My husband & son have been in Miami since last Sunday. The will not be home until the job is finished now. It's just been me and the daughter, house is staying so clean!
I finally dropped out of the 190's. Down to 185! I think it was the sugar. After I switched back to Agave in my coffee, tea & oatmeal, a week later, 5 pounds gone!
