ok, i have a similar story although it is not from any getting smaller recently. i just came back from my town's annual fair. someone who hasn't seen me since before superstorm sandy (she was just able to move back in this week) saw me there and could not get over how much weight i have lost and how i look. she kept saying it over and over. really, what did you do? i don't know anyone who retired and didn't get heavier... this women was my teacher (but not that much older than me), on my tennis foursome when i first started teaching... and who was in better shape than me when i finally retired... she was an everyday walker...

so that was just what i needed for now to know i need to resurrect my losing ways (weighs)...

what a coincidence that i just posted on this board again....

(now a bit of "scale" victories would be great too)

Cyndi---it does make us feel better! A friend at church told me Sunday that I looked thinner! It was the shirt I had on I know but it made me want to stick to the eating plan all the more!

I wore an outfit the other day and coworkers were all telling me how much thinner I look. I know it shouldn't be what others think, but it sure does help to motivate.

This week the non-scale victory is staying on plan Sunday to Sunday with no cheats. I was doing so good, but now am letting them sneak in and then I don't feel good. Sara said it best. A flat belly feels wonderful!!!

Work on streak till I get o goal weight! At 162.5 and want to see 142.5 this year! Joined lose twenty by Christmas challenge!
Eat proper nutrition and no excuses or passes until it comes off! Drink at least 8 glasses of water and get knee in shape by Pt and walking and biking! Log onto Spark 5x a week and ck teams! Making it happen!

3/2011 First ever race walked 8.1 miles in Pittsburgh

I love going to bed and feeling that my tummy is flat. Haha.. I know, that's probably twisted, but when I'm not eating well, it's round & puffy, and I know it's having a hard time digesting whatever I made it suffer through.

This whole feeling of thinner-ness makes me stand/walk taller and wear nicer clothes. I take my hoodie off and feel confident - not having to cross my arms across my tummy when I sit.

Thanks MGS - I believe you'll be pleased with those... tape measurements.

I find that if I leave my fitness clothes out where I can see them in the AM, I roll out of bed, put them on and then... I am all set to go after getting my husband out the door for work. So, maybe even just setting your clothes out so they're in your line of vision immediately, that will make that come together even easier?! ;o)

Isn't it great seeing & feeling the difference good food choices & water make?

Way to go in May! :)

Serving that is wonderful and I haven't taken my measurements in awhile and will now do that tonight. I have been using the scale and my staying on plan.

For me it really is about staying on the plan. I do great during the morning and lunch hours, but that just before dinner time is hard for me when the weather isn't good for a walk. I now am switching for May to come home and put on the workout clothes and either go for the walk or do the cardio indoors.

For me drinking the water is huge, but I have really kept track lately and I can tell it makes a huge difference in my energy level as well! Just noticing my body's responses to different foods, water intake and exercise is huge!

My "non-scale" victories for the month of April... (as posted on another blog) :)

My personal "challenge" for the month was to move 5-7 days every week, increase my lean mass by 3%, remove a minimum of 3" overall & 5 pounds - and here are the results...

emoticon I moved 24 of the 30 days

emoticon My lean mass is UP by 3.5% (WOO HOO, as my body composition seems to be one of my greatest challenges)

emoticon I removed 7.25 INCHES overall (the hips did NOTHING I might add, & I believe that might be where 20% of the 25.5% body fat might be)

emoticon (that would be the scale going out the window) My weight - well, that's another story... & I've always said the scale should be your last measurement, and mine went up 1/2 lb., so... I'll take all of the other "measurements." ;o)

The feel and the look is often a better way to see if you are losing weight. Sometimes th scale does not change. I found that when I was working out really hard I often put on weight yet my clothe firt differently. I also read an article about stressing your body and how stress can cause the weight gain. I found that really relaxed exercise is better for me than those hard out pump classes.

What is yours? This is something that you are happy with other than the scale.

Mine, Husband made popcorn last night and I did not have a bite! And I love how the seatbelt in the car fits now.
