"Fat people give in to cravings. Fit people prepare for cravings."
Cravings are one of the most common downfalls of the average dieter. The problem with giving in to cravings is allowing old eating habits to creep back into your life and threaten to take you back where you began. Fit people know that giving into cravings, no matter how small, is a slippery slope and a dieting disaster! Middle-class thinking tells the person this little cheat meal won't make that big of a difference, and besides.. you can always start over again on Monday.
Dieting when your full is easy. Sticking to your diet when you're hungry takes courage. The truth is any major discipline or accomplishment requires substantial willpower in the early stages. Later on, your new eating habits will ease your desire for unhealthy foods. But the truth is, no matter how long you maintain your weight, you will always have to be on guard against slipping back into old habits.
"Periodic cravings are like pop quizzes thrown at you randomly to test your commitment to your diet. Pass enough pop quizzes and your grade is guaranteed."
Action Step: Identify your most powerful craving and a meal, snack or dessert ON your diet that will satisfy it.
