I was thinking the same thing. I would have treated it more like raisins or dried prune maybe. Definitely too sweet for C1. I was guessing C3.

Dates are not nuts or seeds though! LOL! I still wouldn't think they would be allowed since dried dates are quite sweet!

Well, I got my reply. I've copy/pasted it here for you. Looks like I'll be having no dates.

Thank you for your email! All nuts/seeds are not introduced until the 3rd cycle. We do not advise for you to have anything that is not listed in the book. If you are wanting to have the dates then that is your choice, again we can't advise that you can have them.

Hi - and congratulations on your success!!

Hmm... that's a good question - my book is at work with a friend (again.. she's borrowed it 3 times) but if you say it doesn't mention dates, you're probably right. I'm kind of wondering if you would lump it in with other dried sweet fruits.. like raisins? Probably introduced in a later cycle.. but I really can't say. What I recommend is sending your question to customer service, and seeing what they say. They are really good at answering. We'd love to hear what you find out!!

I am doing very well on the 17-Day Diet and have lost 51 pounds since last May with 30 (maybe more) that I still want to lose. I made Dr. Mike's Power Cookie the other day using the dried cherries and they are good. I'm wondering if chopped dates might be allowed to be used in the cookies in place of the cherries. I can't find dates listed in the book, but thought maybe someone here would know.

Thanks,

Karen
