For me, I found the idea of not eating out to be detrimental to the program, because this is a life change not a situational diet. You have to be able to follow through no matter the circumstance, so I haven't stopped eating out. We cannot control EVERYTHING at the restaurant but I believe we can make enough good choices to not cause any damage. We hit up a TexMex place last Sunday. I was worried, but I found an option on the menu, a Salmon fillet Salad. Told them I didn't want the croutons and fatfree balsamic dressing on the side. I was unwavering on the chips because they just weren't an option; a commitment is a commitment.
Last night I needed some food before we headed to a Quince. I couldn't think of a good option so I stopped at KFC and got a grilled chicken breast and green beans. I am not going to make myself crazy trying to control things I cannot; I have to simply adapt what is available to me. I am down 10lbs in 13 days on Cycle 1 so I think this is work ;o)
Good luck to you honey. You can do it!!!

My sister and BIL are coming over in a little bit. BIL wants to eat out and I am on cycle 1 of course! LOL! He usually wants to go to a Mexican place around the corner so I was just checking their menu. If I keep my fingers out of the chips I will be fine! They do have a grilled chicken on a lettuce and tomato salad. That looks to be the best thing to get.

And yeah---DH and I eat out on whatever Cycle I am on. I have to learn to make the better choices sometime. emoticon

My husband and I have often treated ourselves to the teriyaki chicken on the stick at the chinese restaurant up the road.. it's been our treat from day 1 on this diet... actually we haven't had it in quiet a while, but tomorrow is a special day, so maybe it'll be on the menu.

Never have I worried about it not being compliant and well, I think my results speak for themselves... I never sweat the small stuff.

So excited about the 17 Day Diet. It has truly taught me new ways of eating and being healthy. Although I've not followed the daily cycles since I finished Cycle 2 at the start, I do tend to choose only foods from all three cycles. I incorporate the added carbs as I can and we are living a 17 DD Inspired life! Getting us to goal!

On occasion, I like to go to Brennecke's, which is my favorite restaurant on the south side of the island.

They serve an amazing Mahi Mahi, which is an excellent fish and wonderful for my diet. I have noticed however that the food preparation is different from what I would do at home and therefore it is not totally compatible with my food plan.

That said, I do not deny myself an occasional evening out with friends just for the enjoyment of it.

So my recommendation to you is to go out, have a wonderful time, and just be selective about what you choose to eat for dinner.

You're doing great!!

Personally, I make an effort to eat at home during most cycles, just because there's so much sodium, hidden sugars and maybe MSG in restaurant foods, but when it is in the plan to go out, you'll do fine with a veggie/meat dish.. I eat the chicken/green beans or chicken/broccoli or "firecracker chicken" from Panda.. and I get it with the veggies on the side, rather than rice/noodles. Also, many restaurants offer a grilled chicken salad, but order without cheese & croutons.. get the dressing on the side, but avoid the sweet ones. One local restaurant near us offers a "grilled tuna" salad!! YUM! If you eat Chinese, be prepared to retain water weight for a day or more.

Yes.. more dishes at home. It'll grow on ya. (As you shrink!!!)

So should I just avoid going out to dinner during cycle 1? I was thinking the steamed veggies and chicken from a chinese restaurant might be good but then I can make that at home and you know my chicken will be better than the chicken at Chinese Restaurants. Any suggestions?
