June - I was wondering how things were going for you after those extractions. Woo Hoo on the 5K. I am beyond impressed. You probably burned off some of that 2.8 just doing the 5K.

I am back on track today, in total compliance. My week off has ended. I will likely weigh in tomorrow or Monday. I got my exercise in today and feel good about that. (I hate to exercise...but don't mind the grocery cart walking so much.) I also accomplished a lot of house work today, even though I had planned for today to be a "me" day. I am pleased with what I got done so I will be better able to relax tomorrow, and that can be my "me" day.

Here's to a great weekend whatever you are doing!

Just a quick post here, been off the diet a week because of my wisdom teeth removal. I am up 2.8lbs as of this morning. I am going to try and eat decent the rest of the weekend and get back on the diet on Monday.

I just got home from running my 5k race, it was the Hot Chocolate run. It was tough and I was slower than I had been in the past but I did it and I am glad I did.

Hope everyone has a successful weekend!

Diane, you still around, been wondering how you've been?

June :)

Had a pretty good day, even though I got up later than usual, which can sometimes throw me off schedule. All things considered, I did pretty well, again not perfect but well within what I consider a reasonably compliant day.

Let's all have a good weekend!

Hi ya'll,
Tammy, we are with the boys for 10 days without their parents. This was day 3 and it is getting better. I am cheating a lot but not too bad. Having yogurt for breakfast and salads for lunch.its the snacking that is hard. The house we are staying belongs to a family (they went on the Israel trip, too) and they are Trader Joes shoppers and they have healthy snacks so, I guess that is better than it could be. Not getting my "Y" time or exercise in. Too tired!
The good thing, I guess, is they do not have a scale, so I won't know how bad I've been until I get home. Then I can start all over again!
Sounds like you are doing the same....buying all good things.
I have an autoimmune skin issue also. Can private message you about it soon.

I am feeling really good today. I have been almost totally compliant and feel like I am back on track again. I grocery shopped today and did great....green beans, salad, tomatoes, boneless skinless chicken breasts, ground turkey, broccoli, brussel sprouts, oranges, grapes, and seltzer water.....probably more but that's what comes to mind right now. I had a pretty good night's sleep last night which also makes a huge difference in how I feel, especially in light of my auto immune disorders (Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Atopic Dermatitis). I got my walking in today too. So now I am ready to relax. Dinner (chicken) is in the oven. The weather here in eastern PA is fairly spring-like...so maybe Mother Nature didn't forget us afterall.

All the best to everyone. Do your best...no one can do it for you!

Linda - You sure have your hands full!!! How long will you be there? I agree....boys are so different than girls, though I am the mother of only one.... a son but he is all grown up and still single. Congrats on the healthy lunch. You sure are trying! And doing well at that.

I had an extremely busy day today with very little time for myself. I was so busy I barely had time to eat. I had a healthy breakfast, virtually no lunch, and a very late dinner (a chef salad of sorts). Just about all of our holiday food is gone now (thank goodness), so I will grocery shop tomorrow and restock up on chicken and ground turkey mostly. Still have a bunch of veggies but will get more tomorrow anyway.

Let's end the week on a positive compliant note!

Tammy, thanks for the pep talk. Just sitting here eating half a PBJ thinking how hard this is. We are talking 3 boys under 4! We had girls. We know nothing about boys. They're so different. I think they are "playing" us right now and really do hope when we settle into a routine, it will be easier. I did have a healthy lunch, tho. Turkey meat wrapped around celery sticks. Yay! So, I'm trying.

And congratulations to you LT. It gets easier. Then.....it gets harder, as you can see. But that's when you can start adding foods. Hard to stop!

Will check in tomorrow.

Linda - Glad you arrived safely. Enjoy those grandchildren....what a precious time. I think once you settle in there a bit you will find some ways to work compliance back into your life. Give yourself time to adjust and plan. You can do it!

LT-Congrats to you and your DH! Great motivation to keep on keepin' on! Good luck as you embark on week 2.

I had a much more compliant day today. Made chef salads for dinner...very filling and healthy. Slowly working my way back to total compliance...probably by the weekend for sure.

Here comes Hump Day...hope it's a good one for everyone!

Hi Tammy,
I actually like the lemon water, too.
I am so off track and so afraid my stay with the boys is going to really destroy all my hard work from the past 2 1/2 months. I'm going to try to eat healthy and certainly be aware of the food I eat, but....I hope it's not.."oh, I'm aware of this not being good for me, oh well...tomorrow!"
Hope you enjoy your celebrations.

Linda - Safe travels to you! I always just use hot tap water for my morning lemon water, but as I've said before, I am one of those odd ducks who actually likes the lemon water. Good for you for finding a way to get it in in a way that works for you!

I am off track again today, kind of intentionally as our Paschal celebration continues. I have been eating pretty healthy however, just not following the 17DD as I usually do.

Hi ya'll,
Checking in on the first morning away from home. Flying out to California today. So, I discovered that having my morning lemon water with hot tap water is a lot easier to get down than microwaved hot water. I put my benefiber and miralax in it and it was gone in no time.
Now I can only hope that I can stay fairly compliant for the next two weeks. Will keep posting.
Next post will be from the west coast.Enjoy your day!

Sutts - Welcome! So glad to have you with us. Please check around the posts on the team page...You will find some helpful hints as well as cycle-specific recipes. Folks on this team have varying amounts of weight to lose. Like you, I have about over 100 pounds but have lost almost 40. This diet works when you stick to it. And for me what makes it easier to stick to is that after the first few days, I am not hungry and have no outrageous cravings. So good luck. Please continue to post. And again, Welcome!

June - Glad you jaw is feeling better. I am sure you will shed those pounds as soon as you get back on plan. You know how to do it!!

I am checking in quickly as we continue our Paschal (Easter) celebration. All of my foods turned out delicious. I am not following any cycle today but will get back on track in a few days, possibly back to C1 since I have been doing C2 and it is time to switch. I have been through enough rounds to know that I can skip C3 because it is just too frustrating for me anymore. I have decided to stick with C1 and C2 till I get more weight off.

Hi there. Today is my first day on this eating plan. I need to lose 100+ pounds and I need to get more mobile. My daughter suggested this plan. I'm happy to have found this group. I really hope I can do this.

Tammy congrats on another pound lost.. yay!

LT, keep up the good work, I am exciting to see what the scale says for you!

Beltain, you chose the right diet in my opinion, stick with it, stay strong and try not to cheat especially right away and it will pay off for you!

I gained 3lbs in the last 3 days, this eating only soft foods is for the birds. I am going back to regular foods since my jaw doesn't hurt. ( had 2 wisdom teeth removed thursday)

A quick check in from me on a busy day as tomorrow we celebrate Easter (Pascha) in the Orthodox Christian Church. Was at church yesterday for 2 services (4 pm and 6:30 pm) with a pot luck Lenten meal in between (no meat, no dairy, no eggs, etc....nothing from animals). I did amazingly well as there were lots of healthy veggies and a delicious veggie chili. I weighed in ("just for fun") this morning and am down another pound. This is motivating for me because of all the tempting non-compliant foods that characterize this celebration. But I plan to do my best. We celebrate for quite a while (40 days), but I am giving myself a week and will be careful during this week (We call it "Bright Week").
Most of my food is ready to go with us to church which starts at 10:30 pm and will end around 1 am when we get the food in our baskets blessed and then stay on at church to eat the goodies (lamb, ham, eggs, egg cheese, Paska bread, etc.).

Will do my best to check in tomorrow. emoticon

Hey Beltain, hubby and I just started this past Tuesday and it has not been difficult, and we've had plenty of delicious food to eat so we have not been hungry - getting creative with the many options of C1 proteins and veges! Tonight were having a big stirfry that we're looking forward to. He's already lost 6 pounds, and I haven't weighed yet :). If we can do this, you can - we can help each other finish C1!

Welcome Beltain! We are happy to have you with us. I can tell you first hand, that this diet does work when we follow it. You can expect to see amazing results, especially in the beginning....C1 for sure. C2 will also bring good results. Don't get discouraged if the losses slow down after that. Remember, you are eating healthy foods and making lifestyle changes that have great results. Look around the posts on the various topics here as well as the recipes, etc. There are many "seasoned" members on this team who have great information to share. I am always learning so much from our teammates. And beyond that there is a great deal of support and caring. Best wishes. Keep on posting!!!

June – Ouch on the mouth! I had wisdom teeth extracted when I was in my 40s. I healed pretty quickly, fortunately. Linda’s ideas sound good to me. And I would focus on getting well and healing for the next few days ahead. Then you can jump back on plan with resolve as usual. I wonder if you could brown some ground turkey if you wanted compliant protein…don’t form it into a burger that would require more chewing, but maybe the browned ground turkey, lightly seasoned might work out ok…especially on your second day and going forward till your mouth is better.

Ann – Yes you are among friends here, and heaven knows we all have strayed…the good news is we return to plan and keep at it. How nice that you get to celebrate your birthday by getting away. Birthdays can be very challenging indeed. I know you will do your best and keep your eye on the prize. It is difficult to stay on plan when we have company. I know that all too well.

Linda – Macaroons sound very yummy to me at the moment! Holidays are special and meant to be enjoyed. A lot has to do with how far we stray and how long it takes us to get back on plan. I know I will not be fully compliant this weekend as we celebrate Pascha (Easter). I will give myself a few days to celebrate and will try to celebrate wisely but I know I will have bread, something I am usually successful at avoiding. A lot of our Paschal foods are high in sodium too and that can do me in. For sure I will keep flushing out as much as I can with water. So I guess I am saying…I agree with you. It is ok to cheat. We know we won’t lose when we do, but then we get back on track and see the results of compliance.

LT – I am one of those weird people who actually likes the warm lemon water in the morning, so I have not added sweetener. If you find the water too unpleasant, you might want to add more water to sort of dilute the lemon taste. You will be getting in more water and I don’t think it will make that much of a difference in terms of the benefits of the lemon water. Your chicken parm sounds delicious. I think I will try making it sometime. Thanks for sharing that. Glad you are feeling less tired. I know that wonderful not hungry feeling. I am certain that is why this diet works for me. I eat well, and I don’t feel like I am starving at all. When I was on Weight Watchers, I’d run out of “points” by lunch and then graze all evening, feeling guilty all the while. Same for when I tried Nutrisystem…I was never satisfied…always wanted to eat more than was allowed. With the 17DD I am eating all healthy unprocessed foods and feel satisfied, just about ll the time. That’s what spells success for me.

I am on track and feeling fabulous today. For the first time in a long time I slept well, which makes a HUGE difference in my functioning during the day. I feel energized and in control. I got my walking in and shopped at our farm market, which is really a grocery store that specializes in fresh meats, fresh fish, and amazing produce. I love shopping there and stocking up on what I need for compliance

June,
There's always yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambles eggs. And then, there's yogurt, cottage cheese and scrambled eggs. Yep...kinda stuck with ideas. I don't do smoothies but those would be healthy.. Don't suck through a straw, though. Can impact the area. Hope you feel better soon.

I had 2 wisdom teeth removed today, no cutting, just pulled them. I am on soft foods for a up to a week. This means my diet will consists of potatoes, more potatoes, pasta, bananas ect. I do expect to gain a pound or 2 until I can get back on schedule.
Does anyone have suggestions on what I could eat?

June :)

I love the support and advice of this group! I know I will find it helpful in the days/weeks ahead. OK it's day 3 and I have NOT been hungry at all, and a little less tired yesterday, so I think I'm slowly adjusting. The warm lemon water is a little rough (blechh) but we're doing it - does anyone add Truvia? Glad my office is near a restroom with all this water I'm drinking, just sayin...Made a delish baked Italian chicken parm last night using herbs, FF marinara and FF mozzarella, dolloped w/ LiveActiv cottage cheese - with a big pile of green beans. DH said it was awesome, not like a "diet dinner" at all. Even my picky sons loved it. Tonight will be chicken salisbury steaks (grd chick mixed w/ sauteed onions & garlic) w/ mushrooms over creamy mashed cauliflower (mixing it w/ LA cottage cheese).

Have a wonderful day everyone, and thank you again for sharing all of your tips/successes/struggles.

Besides nibbling on matzah and macaroons, I've been pretty good with the meals. I have come to the conclusion, that after being on this 17DD since the end of January, I have learned to eat healthy and that I won't lose weight if I cheat, but I can get back on the wagon and lose a pound here and there. I still have about 5-6 lbs before reaching my goal weight, but will not kick myself for these few days of "bad food". I personally think that "cheating" every now and then is good. You can still lose.
Anyway......that's my check in.
Have a good evening, friends.

I'm back.....I would walk the trail of shame but I am among friends that understand. Company is now gone and I have about as 360 from my plan as one could imagine. Now back to business. My birthday is next week so the challenge will be how to handle it and 4 days out of town.....yikes! One day at a time!

LT ...welcome....with my carb days I am reminded that carbs zap my energy even more. Hang in there.

Tammy: awesome resisting the leftovers, getting on track and staying on track!

June: congratulations on the weight loss!

Here's to less of all of us!!

All things are possible...maybe not easy...but possible and worthwhile!!! I believe in ME!

LT - I agree with June. It takes a few days to get past the tired feeling. I don't mind it too much because I know that sleep is an important component of weight loss. So when I start (restart) C1 I do my best to make sure I get sufficient sleep.

June - I tend to overdose on chicken if I don't have fish on hand. I feel for you not liking fish.

I am on track today which is almost a miracle since I don't feel well and when I am not feeling well I almost always stray from plan. I hope to get some extra rest by going to bed early tonight. It is a cold, gray, rainy day here today....good sleeping weather as my dad used to say.

Stay strong friends!

LT2836 - It usually takes a few days, maybe up to 5. I always tire of the food choices by the end of cycle 1 but don't give it, it's definitely worth it in the end. I don't like fish so I am even more limited but there are lots of recipes out there for you. When I started this 4 years ago I lost 10.5lbs in the first 17 days, that inspired me to stick with it. I suggest no cheating, at least for the first 3 rounds.

June :)

Thank you for the kind welcome to the group! My husband and I began the diet yesterday and were quite surprised that we weren't hungry at all - just more tired than usual at the end of the day. We are "foodies" and with cooking/eating having been our hobby for so long, we like the way we can have satisfying meals by upping the veggies that we enjoy & getting creative with recipes. The trick will be not tiring of chicken and fish for the next 2 weeks, but I'm finding lots of great ideas in the book & on this site that we will enjoy trying.

May I ask - when does the initial "tiredness" generally subside? Besides looking thinner, our main objective is to FEEL BETTER...healthier and more energized!

June - Yay....celebrate the good news at the scale. You will see the lower number you are looking for....before you know it! And yes, I am very happy that I did not give to the morning craving I had yesterday.

I am doing fine and on track today. For some reason my laptop is acting weird today. I am not technologically savvy at all, and I find this a bit frustrating. But otherwise today is a great day....I took care of all of my errands.....bank, grocery store, and post office. And I even did a bit of housecleaning. So, a productive and on-track day for me.

Hope everyone is doing fine!

Tammy, great job on resisting the leftovers, I am sure you are happy today you resisted.

I got right back on track yesterday and did weigh myself. I am down from Saturday but up a bit from my lowest recent weight but I am still happy with it.

Hope the scale is good to everyone else today!

Lin – Wonderful that you get to spend time with your dear grandchildren! Times like that are priceless. Looks like most of us are jumping back on the on track train today after the weekend festivities.

June – So impressed that you are running. Way to go! Looking forward to seeing you on the “on track” train with the rest of us after a less-than-on-track weekend!

Ann – Saved a spot for you on the on track train with the rest of us. The good news is even after we stray, we can get right back on track. I love the feeling of regaining control.

My first urge this morning when I went to the kitchen was to dive into some of the very carby and salty leftovers we brought back from our family’s Easter celebration yesterday. Then I thought, no….DS can have them and will enjoy them for sure. So instead I got right into my lemon water, then Live Active cottage cheese (probiotic) and a beautiful sweet juicy orange. And yep…right back on track without a problem. I now cabbage lasagna in the oven….just about finished, so DS and I will have that for a few days as well. It goes far and is very satisfying and very filling.

Hope this Monday is a compliant one for all of us.

And happy Opening Day of major league baseball season for those of us (me for sure) who love this sport! emoticon

Well, I am with all of you. I can't stay away from nibbling Passover goodies. I didn't eat desserts or sweets before...why am I eating them now? Because they are leftover from company! I need to get back on track very soon. Leaving next week to go cross country for a two week babysitting stint to watch 3 grandsons (under 4)!
Hope everyone had a nice day!

I also blew it today but I wasn't going to limit myself. I was also out last night and had a few too many drinks, will take a few days to bounce back from that. I didn't weigh myself today and I don't plan on weighing myself until Wednesday, I already know I will have gained some and if its a lot it will just stress me out and make me want to eat more. Tomorrow was suppose to be the start of cycle 3 but I am going to start over and do cycle 1 again for 4 or 5 days and then i'll just back to 3.

Hope everyone had a great day and enjoyed themselves.

p.s. I did run 1.3 miles this morning... to get my car!

Ok....pure and simple......I blew it today with brunch and dinner out. Tammy I am with you the next several days back on track. I still have company but they are easy so I just need to not create unnecessary excuses.

Just got back from spending time with our family. Had a wonderful day, not compliant but not over the top either. Glad to be home but tired from driving.

Ann - Woo Hoo! Great going on shedding another 1.4 pounds. I love that feeling.....so very motivating.

The fish dinner was great...baked fish....veggies, pickled cabbage....but I did have dessert, a piece of cake. Even better than the food was the socializing. I have so many friends at that church, and some friends from other churches were there too. It was one of the best times I have had in a long time.

I was not on track today for no good reason either. My doctors are playing with my meds for my various conditions (Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Atopic Dermatitis...all autoimmune disorders). One of the latest meds makes me very sleepy even though we keep reducing the dosage. And when I am tired I am not a good dieter. 'nuff said! Tomorrow I will enjoy the Easter celebration with the branch of our family that celebrates tomorrow. I will do my best to not over indulge. My aim is for a totally compliant 6 days April 6 through 11.

Happy Easter to all who celebrate it tomorrow!
A good Passover to our Jewish members as well.

emoticon emoticon Five days have passed and I lost 1.4 pounds. I am so excited! On to the next 5 days. Company here....diet in control so far. I keep focusing on the fact that now I am 37% to my short term goal. Feeling strong I am making walking tours out of the adventure so I get some activity done while visiting. Tonight is dinner at friends. They said we could bring desert but only fifty percent of the group eats sweets so I have opted to take a veggie tray with fat free dips.

Tammy: hope the fish dinner was delicious.

Happy Saturday to all!

In response to Ann's suggestion I started a new topic - "Tips for staying on track during "unplanned" times. It is sticky topic #2 in the Daily Café Forum.

Please post helpful tips there to share with the team!

Diane - Woo Hoo for you! Down .6 is super! Gym, diet, etc..whatever it is....YOU DID IT! Keep up that momentum.

Ann - Good luck with your company. I do not do well with compliance when we have house guests.....again that disruption to my day issue. Woo Hoo on the pants fitting better. That could be inspirational and motivating. And same for noticing that weight loss in the mirror. That can be a big motivator too.

I am on track today so far. Tonight we are going to a fish dinner at our former church where we have lots of friends. They offer baked or fried fish, so of course I will get baked. The side dishes vary a bit but usually include a salad or peppered cabbage, some kind of baked potato, green beans, and of course dessert. I don't mind skipping the dessert but I know I will want to eat the potatoes. I am trying to be super good all day so I don't do too much damage at the fish dinner. emoticon emoticon

Diane: emoticon you are doing awesome! I agree the gym helps not only the scale go down but the mind get happy......God bless those endorphins that get released! Exercise is usually the way I deal with major stress and or finally get my weight loss efforts on track. Thank you for sharing and reminding me how great exercise can be.

Tammy: you hit the nail on the head. Regular days.....can control, have plan/ routine and stay focused. Any derailment from "regular" day and there I go off into left field. You would think I never travel down these roads! I think this could be a great new topic.....Tips for staying on track during unplanned times. I try taking portable snacks......it works more often now.

Family arrives today and staying till Wednesday. It is their first visit here. This will be a culinary challenge. Lots of eating out....yikes. I am going to try to pre-plan as much as possible and keep an image of those darn pants in my mind! By the way they are fitting a tad better!

Today I was going out of the bathroom and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I actually thought I look like I have lost a little. What a good feeling!

Happy Friday to all!

Tammy...I hear you about "over tired " how hard that is to stay strong and be compliant. You are doing so awesome!

Just reading everyone's daily ups and downs here is motivating me to stay strong too! I am down .6 lb this morning so maybe the gym is helping?

Lin - Yes! I love this diet too. Nothing has ever been as effective for me as this plan. Congrats on doing so well.

Davis - You probably didn't cheat with the almonds as they are now allowed as a friendly fat. Quite some time ago, one of our former co-leaders, Sara posted the following: nuts and seeds are allowed in all cycles!
2 Tbsp (raw) seeds = 1 friendly fat; nuts - for each friendly fat you are allowed 14g of fat - stick to raw or dry roasted (no added oil), so check labels.
You can eat 1 Tbsp of peanut butter (peanuts only, no added sugar or anything else). = 1 fat.
Hope this helps

I am back on track today and feeling strong and in control again. I find that I have to continually find compliant ways to deal with disruptions in my schedule. I think I have reached the point where I can stay pretty compliant on a "regular" day, but it seems like when I am over tired or thrown a curve in my plans for the day, I am more likely to stray. I do keep almonds in the car as well as water. I also take baby carrots along if I think I might need them. So I am now going to focus on other strategies to help myself stay on track on disrupted day.

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday!

Good morning team.
Cindy I hope the headache start getting better. I understand I get migraines all the time. Hang in there.
Lin: Understand that feeling of I have to weigh. Congratulations on the loss!
Diane: thank you fir sharing about Pacha. Boy am I sorry you are dealing with snap ow! I think we are done with it for the year. In fact I think I will store the shovels again....if it snows again, I will just stay home or drive over it😀
June: yes a day at a time and a pound at a time!
Tuesday I was as hungry as a horse! I ate so much protein it was crazy andstill was not satisfied. I had two small cheets...spoon of peanut butter and about 10 almonds. Thank god I did not drive by Krispy Kreme with the hot light on!!! I would have been a goner !!!
Yesterday I was good and satisfied. Went to dinner last night and it was pasta night. I was the chef sauté chicken, couple mini meatballs, spinach, onion, garlic, mushrooms, and tomato. I then put a little marinara sauce over it. It was great and I did not miss the pasta. Not sure how bad the sauce was for me but I knew it was better than the cheese sauce.
I have my Easter dinner plan: oven roasted turkey breast, grilled spicy green beans, over roasted butternut squash, salad, deviled eggs( no mayo) and pumpkin custard(sugar free of course).
Tonight I am going to a movie at 9:30....I have to focus on NO pop corn.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Ann

Well....I had to weigh myself at the Y. Just out of habit. Even after the cheesecake and various alcoholic libations on Sunday, the scale was still a half pound less. Yay! Love this 17 DD!

Just a quick check in for me today on another busy day. I grocery shopped, talked with my accountant about my tax return (ugh!), did a little housework, etc. It is snowing heavily here now, but I was home before it started, yes on March 31. In my area it wasn’t too bad, but just 20 miles north of here there were blizzard-like conditions. So Davis, your 70 degree weather sounds fabulous! Some branches of our family celebrate Easter this coming Sunday like most of the world. I am an Orthodox Christian, and sometimes we have Easter (we call it Pascha) with the Western world and sometimes it falls on a different Sunday. This year our Pascha is a week after everyone else’s and falls on April 12. This Sunday, April 5, my DS and I will travel about 90 minutes to the part of our family that celebrates Easter. Good news is I don’t have to cook. Bad news is virtually none of the food will be compliant. Next weekend I will cook traditional foods (ham, kielbasa, a special egg cheese, etc.). I can keep the carbs low but it will be too much sodium for me for sure, so I will just have to do my best.

Diane, good luck with your restart, been there myself so many times. As for the yogurt, I used to hate greek yogurt but its all I will eat now.

Davis, I am going to take Easter as a free day, eat what I want but try to not overeat.
Congrats on your weight loss!

Tumwater, good luck.. stay strong!

I got on the scale today was very happy to see I was under 174. I haven't been there since November. This is usually where I fail and gain back 10 lbs, but I refuse to do that this time. I am so close to the 160's. Even though my ticker goal weight says one thing, I only have a goal of 1 lb. Its easier if I don't think of that end goal and only focus on 1 at a time.
It is getting nice here and I really need to start running again but now my knee is starting to hurt again. Why is it we try to better ourselves and we have to go through these pains, things are suppose to improve.

Hope everyone has a great day. I am on day 2 of cycle 1 of my modified 7day cycles.

We have had some busy days and I have been missing in action here. It's so good to read about all the weight loss going on in this team!

I looked at the yogurt posts and see I did not mention I have had to switch to "Greek" Danon lite&Fit......it's all I can find now here in AZ. Regular low fat yogurt is about gone off the shelves in most brands....the new craze must be for Greek? I find I like it just fine but don't eat as much as I used to, hmmm. Maybe overdosed on it, lol.

My weight has not gone down but rather is up a lb again. Even with some exercise added. I know what to do but am not yet doing it.....too many treats/cheats. Starting another day 1 today.

Good morning team☀️

Tumwater.......welcome. I know you will find this group the most supportive around. I get so many great ideas and look forward to checking in daily to see how everyone is doing. I also like to see the creative meals others eat so that my life does not get into a rut......it usually leads me to old habits when I get too bored. So I encourage you to share what you have for dinner on the topic " what cycle and what's for dinner".

Lin: I bet that was a great concert. I saw stomp fir the first time last weekend. My favorite concert to date was going to see Pink. She was amazing. It was like a concert and Curque du soliel. I hope the not weighing works well for you. In the past if I was not weighing daily, it was because I had no intention of following any diet plan and I knew what the scales would say....so it was avoidance. This time I decided to not go through the daily emotions of what it said and just focus on doing what I planned to do and getting accustomed to how my body feels.
Tammy: yes I could see you dancing.....I think we should have each dropped a pound for that. So glad you were able to connect with your friend. I know how time passes by and then it's months before connecting with those you care about. I think the long term success with eating off plan is the listening to what feedback our bodies give us. I find when I eat carbs I feel bloated and lack energy. So listen to your body. No food is a bad food....it is just how much of it we eat, how often and what else we eat when we have it. I am going to start incorporating more fish into my diet. You have shown great results with eating fish.

The scales are in the closet. Today will be 70. I have a tile contractor coming to do the shower today and I think I will go to the golf course and hit some balls. Time for me to see if I can learn this game. I think the knee is ready to take it on.

Is everyone getting there eating plans down for Easter? I will have guest Friday -wednesday. I am a little apprehensive because this is when I eat out a lot, eat old habit food and drink higher calorie beer. I have worked on what to have for Easter dinner. We are going out for Easter brunch----yikes! Friday will be dinner out and theater...Celtic Women. Share any ideas so we all can avoid the candy basket trap.
Have a great and healthy day.
Ann

Davis – Woo hoo and congratulations! Your efforts paid off big. Celebrating with you. Can you see me dancing?

Lin – It looks like you are pretty close to your goal. Cycle 4 is basically maintenance. I am guessing you will get there before you know it. Sounds like the concert and dinner was quite an event.

Tumwater – Welcome!!! Best wishes. Check in with us here as we share our ups and downs. Glad to have you with us.

Cyndi – Impressive portion control with the M & Ms! I think such a small amount will not harm your progress at all, and if it is what you need for satisfaction and success, that’s the ticket. I also think such a small amount is unlikely to trigger cravings. So win-win. I keep Hershey’s special dark chocolate kisses on hand and sometimes have 3 a day when I feel the need.

Today was my lunch with my former co-worker. We both retired at the same time. When we worked we used to have lunch together at least once every 2 weeks. Now that we are retired we see each other only about once every 2 months or so but stay in touch otherwise. It was wonderful to have time together. We got tuna subs from a deli close to my home and brought them here so we could talk privately without feeling rushed. So I ate off plan today. I can’t say I overate but I feel bloated, probably from the sodium and mayo in the tuna salad, not to mention the sandwich roll and the potato chips …which I ate some but not all of. I can honestly say that I don’t like the way I feel when I deviate this far from plan…which is good and spells on-track eating for me tomorrow for sure.

Now I've gone and done it. I am pretty sure I should be on cycle 4, (been doing 17DD since end of January)so this isn't be as bad as it will sound. Went to a concert. Buffet dinner was included. Didn't take the potatoes or bread. Everything else was pretty much on plan....except the wine, the kalua in the coffee, the few drinks before leaving for the show. THEN I just had to have a piece of cheesecake. Back to square (cycle) 1 tomorrow.

Tammy: you brave woman! So excited for you that life stood still on the scale. It is not a total miricale.....you planned and had veggies. So great job.......you created a new alternative to throwing in the towel for someone else.

Cyndi: what a great idea to do the quicker walking in place concept with cooking! I bet the walk around the lake was awesome. Now to the meat of your achievements: "6 M&Ms". The only way I could do 6 m&ms would be if it were 6 bags and all of the remaining are still in the store!! I totally applaud you! Great self control.

OMG.....I have made it through the very busy weekend and stayed true to my daily plans. The only thing I did off plan was miller ultra with 2 carbs with dinner last night. This is especially important considering I went shopping again for pants for the wedding.....nothing.....fat legs look awful in ivory pants....lined or not. I was never so glad that I have not weighed. At that low point, normally I would have pigged out....instead I had to believe that I was doing good. I went to grocery store, bought fresh sliced deli meat, Ate some and went to the gym! Today Susan asked if it was too early to do vegs with breakfast. I said probably won't hurt but I am staying the course today. We both did and feel great about it. So 5 very successful days and continuing to try another five. I have turned to the practice that I started when I joined this group long ago. I have a weekly calendar that each evening I write what I will eat for all meals and snacks the next day. As I live the day, I either check the planned meal or write what I did. Preplanning one day at a time helps me stay focused.

Everyone have a great Monday ....planned and focused 😊

Tammy - Good for you and hope the scale continues to be kind to you.
Davis - Wow I am so impressed with your willpower at the game. Keep it going. I know I turn to coffee or tea when I really want a sweet.

I bought some M&M's and I keep thinking it is just 5 or 6, but I am still doing it daily. However, when my DH has his chocolate cake which now we buy by the slice, I have my 6 M&M's and 6 almonds and sip on tea. It works for me.

I think music is quite motivating to work out to and there are times I will turn on Walk away the pounds as I am cooking dinner to move my feet faster at the stove. I don't count it as exercise, but it gets me in the mood to get the walking in or to go to my aqua jogging. Today we took a nice long walk along a lake and it was very nice.

Bravely stepped on the scale this morning after my pizza adventure last night, and miracle of miracles, I stayed the same! No sodium weight gain, at least not yet. Am back on track today and planning on having last night's fish for dinner tonight.

Hope everyone is having a blessed Sunday!

Lin – Ah, Florida. Lucky you! My night time snack attacks come and go but definitely are much less on this diet.

Davis – Woo hoo for you…a plan and a success. That’s the way to do it.

June – Wow, a 5K run…so amazingly impressive. Good for you! That will sure burn the calories. Good luck with your training.

Today was an unexpected off day for me. I had fish to cook for dinner, but DS asked for a pizza (and he almost never asks for anything particular for dinner). So since I hadn’t eaten much at all during the day as I was kind of busy…I reluctantly agreed to get a pizza, a Little Caesar’s thin crust with mushrooms and green peppers. DS had 5 large pieces and I had the 3 small pieces. I love how when they cut the pizza the slice sizes vary, and I claimed the smallest 3 pieces right away. Along with the pizza I ate raw baby carrots and about 3 cups of cooked green beans so I would be filled up and not tempted to have any more pizza. I know I will see the sodium at the scale so I am thinking of taking a few days off from weighing. I better be on track tomorrow!

Hey gang...I am back from the ball games and dinner. I did it! I stuck to plan. Cup of coffee was my dinner reward. I have my plan written out for tomorrow.....and ready for another good day. Not weighing is doing good for me right now.

I read an article on this site about getting to goal......the advise is believe in yourself, stop negative self talk and set realistic goals. She stated the music and stretching becomes her motivation to get started exercising. I am looking at how to incorporate more consistently.

I will look up the 17day edit gal site.

Have a great Saturday everyony!

I did pretty good this week except for today, I had 2 cheats but didn't eat that much overall. We shall see in the morning. I haven't done any exercising, just can't get myself motivated and I have a 5k race in 3 weeks, I need to start training.

My yogurt of choice is chobani but I probably only have 1 every other day.

Tammy congrats on your weight loss, 9.5 lbs in less than 2 weeks (im a bit jealous)...that is awesome!!

Hi Tammy,
We went to Viera, near Melbourne (FL) to see the Cardinals (visitors) and the Washington Nationals. We live near Daytona. Son in law is a big Cardinals fan. We are Dodger fans. I was born in Brooklyn and my dad was a big fan. He liked the Yankees, too.
Just had some plain yogurt mixed with unsweetened Cocoa and two packets of truvia. Like pudding. Nice evening treat. I don't usually snack at night. Or at least not since on the 17dd.

Lin – Congrats on “adapting” that hot dog. Half a bun is a good strategy. Hot dogs always taste sooooo good at ball games. What teams did you see play? DS and I are big NY Yankee fans even though we live in PA. Two years ago we went to see the Yankees play in spring training in FL. It was a dream come true for us….baseball and palm trees….who could ask for more!

Davis – You are one busy lady. Hope you have a great time at the game tonight. And I am sure you will do your best at dinner too. I hear that Stomp is wonderful. I am sure you will enjoy it. The cabbage lasagna recipe is from the 17 Day Diet gal website. I think it might have been posted here at one time, but I am not sure about that. If you can’t find it on the 17DD gal website, let me know, and I will post it here.

Cyndi – I am like you in that if I have cake or a similar processed carb treat, I often want more and more and more. It has occurred to me that the amount I eat in the first place makes a difference. If I have just a small taste, it does not seem to trigger cravings, but if I have a regular size serving, it can be overpowering. So maybe that is the reasoning behind Dr. Mike’s 3 bite rule. Just thinking out loud here.

Today was a good one for me. I got some walking in and stayed on track. I stayed the same at the scale today and am fine with that. I expect my losses to slow down a bit. I bought up more fish on sale at the grocery store today, so I have no excuses for straying from plan. My next challenge will be Monday when I am having lunch with a friend. We made these plans ages ago and will be having tuna salad sandwiches. I will eat mine without much of the bun.

Let’s have a great weekend!

Lin - It is always so rewarding knowing that you are making a lifestyle change that you definitely wouldn't even have been conscious of in the past. Half a bun - I say rejoice be so proud of your choice.
Davis - So glad to hear your knee is doing great and feeling the best it has in 2 years! Woo Hoo!

I am learning to not feel guilty if I decide to eat something off plan. It is a conscious decision and as long as I get back on track, that is just as much to celebrate. We all have times we want to eat cake, so eat it and then get back to the healthy foods. Unfortunately, I know that once I eat a piece of cake, I want more sweets. For me I know what works and that is really just giving into sweets for as long as I can.

Love all the yogurt posts. Might have to try some different yogurts now. Thanks everyone!
Tammy I always look forward to your posts and your wonderful wisdom. Thank you!

Diane, we had 70 or higher yesterday and woke to low 40's and rain this morning and thought of that beautiful AZ weather. Hope you are enjoying it!

Went to a spring training baseball game today. Had a hotdog. Probably the worse thing I've eaten in over two months. But only ate 1/2 the bun! Good for me!

D3 and still on track emoticon I have evening.basketball and dinner prior. I'm going to hold tough. I have a game plan! I went to gym today. Knee is doing great....I fact it hurts less now then in 2 years. I wrote down my reasons why I want to do this on my calendar/diary. I need frequent reminding.

Tammy.... emoticon What a great achievement! Keep going strong. I am paying attention to the meals you post. Fish seems to be a true winner. Is the cabbage lasagna posted somewhere? It sounds good and I would like to try it. Tomorrow night I go see Stomp. I have wanted to see this for a long time so I am excited.

Cyndi- great for finding what your body and mind needs with WW. I am currently following Dukan...slight variation of 17dd. Congratulations on the loss!

Lin – Diane is exactly right. I get the yogurt with no sugar added. And I like to buy the Dannon light and fit 80 calorie varieties which are also low in sugar. Some have 9 g of sugar, but I don’t fuss too much about that.

Davis – Woo hoo for another on track day….Each day gets easier, as we know. I often go for a week or more without weighing for the very reasons you mention. Different approaches work for different folks at different times. It is only recently, after the encouragement of some friends, that I have been weighing just about daily. It is motivating to me when I see a loss each day…but when the loss slows down (and I know it will), I know I won’t want to weigh every day. What theatre production are you going to see? I love live theatre. This summer I saw the Sight and Sound production of Moses in Lancaster PA. It was wonderful. Otherwise, I haven’t seen live theatre in quite some time.

Cyndi – Woo hoo on your 4.5 loss and keep that momentum going! I always get all my water in too, often in the form of seltzer water because I LOVE the carbonation. It is just second nature to me, amazing for someone like me who lived on diet soda (again the carbonation factor)..not that I never have a diet soda, but it is not my main beverage by any means. So sorry to hear about your knee. I will be curious what the doc says about the pain and swelling.

Diane – I hear you on not consistently “going to” the yogurt for a snack choice. Many many times I have found other options more appealing. And like you, when I am strong it is not an issue…buy oh, when I’m not…well, ‘nuf said.

I am on track again today. Weighed this morning and had another loss. So since March 13 I have lost 9.5 pounds. It is very motivating to me. I have been fortunate that I have been able to eat mostly home cooked meals and haven’t had any cravings. I did taste DS’s ice cream last night (about 3 spoonsful), and thank heavens that didn’t trigger any cravings. I’m sticking with fish for my evening meal for a while longer yet, but hope to make the cabbage lasagna again this weekend. That goes far, is a good change of pace, and DS loves it too.

Day 2 and staying on track. Went to gym. Knee did great with bike. Took a putting class tonight and that was good too. Yogurt: I use harris teeter plain non fat. I add vanilla and lemon extract and Splenda to sweeten. I also get a vanilla light & fit diabetic friendly yogurt by dannon.

I am not weighing for a week. Hoping to not have the emotional stress of up and down. I will be going to ball games all weekend and theater production. So I am hoping I will feel thinner and try to stay on track.

Conferences, paperwork and then extra exercise haven't had me logging on recently. However, I didn't lose as much as Tammy and would love a 7 lb loss, but I joined Weight Watchers and am doing this plan and am down 4.5 pounds in 2 weeks. Now to keep that trend going and I could be at goal weight by summer.

I am going to try your yogurt, but I usually just get the Fage 0% fat plain and whip in defrosted berries such as strawberries or raspberries. It works for me. I had some with crushed pineapple as my DH brought ice cream into the house. The pineapple was a good change. Almost to C2 now, so we will see if the weight loss continues.

I find that fish helps me as well. However, my greatest thing is that I walk almost everyday and am really getting the water in. My knee has been killing me too and now the orthopedist wants me to go to physical therapy. I just thought the knee replacement would keep it from swelling and getting hot and painful. Sounds like the aches and pains have hit many of us, so we will push on and hope that spring brings healing.

LIN428......you are right in that all yogurt has sugar because it is a milk product amd, therefore, will naturally contain milk sugar (lactose). I believe what is intended is actually "no added sugar", except it does allow fruit flavored...or fruit jams with again no added sugar. Also, the book says only "low fat" type. See original book pages 41, 45, 49. Like many of us on 17dd, I buy Danon Lite & Fit 80 calories. Some of those yogurts out there are full of fat and added sugar and weigh in at closer to 200 calories for 6oz.

Tammy, that Danon brand is on sale here in AZ now, too. And, yes, I do have it for a "go to" snack but sometimes late at night I have a hard time choosing it, lol. When I am strong it's no issue....some times when my resolve is weak I opt for a small amount of oatmeal (no milk) with Truvia. Seems to settle my tummy and helps me sleep. I know it's not a compliant choice but beats ice cream or Choc chip cookies!

I have not been able to find a yogurt with no sugar. Even the plain has some sugar listed. Even the triple zero oikos has some ( and is higher in calories). What brand do you use?

Davis – Ah, the social stuff can really do me in at times no matter how hard I try. I think one of the reasons I have been successful lately is that my social calendar has been relatively light. Other than having guests at my home on Thursday, I haven’t had a real social event since March 15. So I am making the most of these unusually quiet times. And ugh, the sodium in concession stand foods is a real diet buster. I gain multiple pounds after heading out to a sporting event (usually baseball for me). Hope you did well with a C1 day. I am still on C2 and might just stay there since this seems to be where I am finding the most success after struggling for quite a while.

Diane – Hope yesterday ended for you as well as it began. Do you save a yogurt in case you are hungry in the evening? I know in my head that is a good thing to do, but I don’t do it consistently. Or sometimes I opt for a non-compliant snack instead of the yogurt and then get annoyed with myself afterward. Our grocery store had a big sale this week on Greek yogurt, sugar free, 80 calories…so I am well stocked up again and have been enjoying it for the past 2 nights.

Well, I am down another pound this morning. I have started weighing daily which is very unusual for me. So now I have lost 7 pounds since March 13. I feel it too, and it feels good. I have been getting my protein with fish these days and have to think that this is helping my progress.

Have a great Thursday….the weekend won’t be far behind.

Hello team! I have been a very social gal lately....that equates to lots of basketball games (they serve crap at the conssession stand), dining out with friends, and in general increasing anxiety about loosing weight. What I want so much ....I do all the things to sabotage it. Story of my life. I am trying to get my head back on track so I can move in the right direction. I am stating that tomorrow will be a trial run at being on C1.

Diane: emoticon So exciting ...5 lbs down. Keep setting the example for and helping us know we can do this.

June...I am right there with you.

June - I think maybe I should start weighing more often. I think I avoid the scale unless I expect a loss. But I know in terms of accountability I should weigh in more. So today I did, and I was down another pound.

I stayed compliant today but felt a little hungrier than usual. Will definitely have a yogurt in a little while. That should do it (I hope).

Hope the week is going well for all!
