Hey gang...I am back from the ball games and dinner. I did it! I stuck to plan. Cup of coffee was my dinner reward. I have my plan written out for tomorrow.....and ready for another good day. Not weighing is doing good for me right now.

I read an article on this site about getting to goal......the advise is believe in yourself, stop negative self talk and set realistic goals. She stated the music and stretching becomes her motivation to get started exercising. I am looking at how to incorporate more consistently.

I will look up the 17day edit gal site.

Have a great Saturday everyony!

I did pretty good this week except for today, I had 2 cheats but didn't eat that much overall. We shall see in the morning. I haven't done any exercising, just can't get myself motivated and I have a 5k race in 3 weeks, I need to start training.

My yogurt of choice is chobani but I probably only have 1 every other day.

Tammy congrats on your weight loss, 9.5 lbs in less than 2 weeks (im a bit jealous)...that is awesome!!

Hi Tammy,
We went to Viera, near Melbourne (FL) to see the Cardinals (visitors) and the Washington Nationals. We live near Daytona. Son in law is a big Cardinals fan. We are Dodger fans. I was born in Brooklyn and my dad was a big fan. He liked the Yankees, too.
Just had some plain yogurt mixed with unsweetened Cocoa and two packets of truvia. Like pudding. Nice evening treat. I don't usually snack at night. Or at least not since on the 17dd.

Lin – Congrats on “adapting” that hot dog. Half a bun is a good strategy. Hot dogs always taste sooooo good at ball games. What teams did you see play? DS and I are big NY Yankee fans even though we live in PA. Two years ago we went to see the Yankees play in spring training in FL. It was a dream come true for us….baseball and palm trees….who could ask for more!

Davis – You are one busy lady. Hope you have a great time at the game tonight. And I am sure you will do your best at dinner too. I hear that Stomp is wonderful. I am sure you will enjoy it. The cabbage lasagna recipe is from the 17 Day Diet gal website. I think it might have been posted here at one time, but I am not sure about that. If you can’t find it on the 17DD gal website, let me know, and I will post it here.

Cyndi – I am like you in that if I have cake or a similar processed carb treat, I often want more and more and more. It has occurred to me that the amount I eat in the first place makes a difference. If I have just a small taste, it does not seem to trigger cravings, but if I have a regular size serving, it can be overpowering. So maybe that is the reasoning behind Dr. Mike’s 3 bite rule. Just thinking out loud here.

Today was a good one for me. I got some walking in and stayed on track. I stayed the same at the scale today and am fine with that. I expect my losses to slow down a bit. I bought up more fish on sale at the grocery store today, so I have no excuses for straying from plan. My next challenge will be Monday when I am having lunch with a friend. We made these plans ages ago and will be having tuna salad sandwiches. I will eat mine without much of the bun.

Let’s have a great weekend!

Lin - It is always so rewarding knowing that you are making a lifestyle change that you definitely wouldn't even have been conscious of in the past. Half a bun - I say rejoice be so proud of your choice.
Davis - So glad to hear your knee is doing great and feeling the best it has in 2 years! Woo Hoo!

I am learning to not feel guilty if I decide to eat something off plan. It is a conscious decision and as long as I get back on track, that is just as much to celebrate. We all have times we want to eat cake, so eat it and then get back to the healthy foods. Unfortunately, I know that once I eat a piece of cake, I want more sweets. For me I know what works and that is really just giving into sweets for as long as I can.

Love all the yogurt posts. Might have to try some different yogurts now. Thanks everyone!
Tammy I always look forward to your posts and your wonderful wisdom. Thank you!

Diane, we had 70 or higher yesterday and woke to low 40's and rain this morning and thought of that beautiful AZ weather. Hope you are enjoying it!

Went to a spring training baseball game today. Had a hotdog. Probably the worse thing I've eaten in over two months. But only ate 1/2 the bun! Good for me!

D3 and still on track emoticon I have evening.basketball and dinner prior. I'm going to hold tough. I have a game plan! I went to gym today. Knee is doing great....I fact it hurts less now then in 2 years. I wrote down my reasons why I want to do this on my calendar/diary. I need frequent reminding.

Tammy.... emoticon What a great achievement! Keep going strong. I am paying attention to the meals you post. Fish seems to be a true winner. Is the cabbage lasagna posted somewhere? It sounds good and I would like to try it. Tomorrow night I go see Stomp. I have wanted to see this for a long time so I am excited.

Cyndi- great for finding what your body and mind needs with WW. I am currently following Dukan...slight variation of 17dd. Congratulations on the loss!

Lin – Diane is exactly right. I get the yogurt with no sugar added. And I like to buy the Dannon light and fit 80 calorie varieties which are also low in sugar. Some have 9 g of sugar, but I don’t fuss too much about that.

Davis – Woo hoo for another on track day….Each day gets easier, as we know. I often go for a week or more without weighing for the very reasons you mention. Different approaches work for different folks at different times. It is only recently, after the encouragement of some friends, that I have been weighing just about daily. It is motivating to me when I see a loss each day…but when the loss slows down (and I know it will), I know I won’t want to weigh every day. What theatre production are you going to see? I love live theatre. This summer I saw the Sight and Sound production of Moses in Lancaster PA. It was wonderful. Otherwise, I haven’t seen live theatre in quite some time.

Cyndi – Woo hoo on your 4.5 loss and keep that momentum going! I always get all my water in too, often in the form of seltzer water because I LOVE the carbonation. It is just second nature to me, amazing for someone like me who lived on diet soda (again the carbonation factor)..not that I never have a diet soda, but it is not my main beverage by any means. So sorry to hear about your knee. I will be curious what the doc says about the pain and swelling.

Diane – I hear you on not consistently “going to” the yogurt for a snack choice. Many many times I have found other options more appealing. And like you, when I am strong it is not an issue…buy oh, when I’m not…well, ‘nuf said.

I am on track again today. Weighed this morning and had another loss. So since March 13 I have lost 9.5 pounds. It is very motivating to me. I have been fortunate that I have been able to eat mostly home cooked meals and haven’t had any cravings. I did taste DS’s ice cream last night (about 3 spoonsful), and thank heavens that didn’t trigger any cravings. I’m sticking with fish for my evening meal for a while longer yet, but hope to make the cabbage lasagna again this weekend. That goes far, is a good change of pace, and DS loves it too.

Day 2 and staying on track. Went to gym. Knee did great with bike. Took a putting class tonight and that was good too. Yogurt: I use harris teeter plain non fat. I add vanilla and lemon extract and Splenda to sweeten. I also get a vanilla light & fit diabetic friendly yogurt by dannon.

I am not weighing for a week. Hoping to not have the emotional stress of up and down. I will be going to ball games all weekend and theater production. So I am hoping I will feel thinner and try to stay on track.

Conferences, paperwork and then extra exercise haven't had me logging on recently. However, I didn't lose as much as Tammy and would love a 7 lb loss, but I joined Weight Watchers and am doing this plan and am down 4.5 pounds in 2 weeks. Now to keep that trend going and I could be at goal weight by summer.

I am going to try your yogurt, but I usually just get the Fage 0% fat plain and whip in defrosted berries such as strawberries or raspberries. It works for me. I had some with crushed pineapple as my DH brought ice cream into the house. The pineapple was a good change. Almost to C2 now, so we will see if the weight loss continues.

I find that fish helps me as well. However, my greatest thing is that I walk almost everyday and am really getting the water in. My knee has been killing me too and now the orthopedist wants me to go to physical therapy. I just thought the knee replacement would keep it from swelling and getting hot and painful. Sounds like the aches and pains have hit many of us, so we will push on and hope that spring brings healing.

LIN428......you are right in that all yogurt has sugar because it is a milk product amd, therefore, will naturally contain milk sugar (lactose). I believe what is intended is actually "no added sugar", except it does allow fruit flavored...or fruit jams with again no added sugar. Also, the book says only "low fat" type. See original book pages 41, 45, 49. Like many of us on 17dd, I buy Danon Lite & Fit 80 calories. Some of those yogurts out there are full of fat and added sugar and weigh in at closer to 200 calories for 6oz.

Tammy, that Danon brand is on sale here in AZ now, too. And, yes, I do have it for a "go to" snack but sometimes late at night I have a hard time choosing it, lol. When I am strong it's no issue....some times when my resolve is weak I opt for a small amount of oatmeal (no milk) with Truvia. Seems to settle my tummy and helps me sleep. I know it's not a compliant choice but beats ice cream or Choc chip cookies!

I have not been able to find a yogurt with no sugar. Even the plain has some sugar listed. Even the triple zero oikos has some ( and is higher in calories). What brand do you use?

Davis – Ah, the social stuff can really do me in at times no matter how hard I try. I think one of the reasons I have been successful lately is that my social calendar has been relatively light. Other than having guests at my home on Thursday, I haven’t had a real social event since March 15. So I am making the most of these unusually quiet times. And ugh, the sodium in concession stand foods is a real diet buster. I gain multiple pounds after heading out to a sporting event (usually baseball for me). Hope you did well with a C1 day. I am still on C2 and might just stay there since this seems to be where I am finding the most success after struggling for quite a while.

Diane – Hope yesterday ended for you as well as it began. Do you save a yogurt in case you are hungry in the evening? I know in my head that is a good thing to do, but I don’t do it consistently. Or sometimes I opt for a non-compliant snack instead of the yogurt and then get annoyed with myself afterward. Our grocery store had a big sale this week on Greek yogurt, sugar free, 80 calories…so I am well stocked up again and have been enjoying it for the past 2 nights.

Well, I am down another pound this morning. I have started weighing daily which is very unusual for me. So now I have lost 7 pounds since March 13. I feel it too, and it feels good. I have been getting my protein with fish these days and have to think that this is helping my progress.

Have a great Thursday….the weekend won’t be far behind.

Hello team! I have been a very social gal lately....that equates to lots of basketball games (they serve crap at the conssession stand), dining out with friends, and in general increasing anxiety about loosing weight. What I want so much ....I do all the things to sabotage it. Story of my life. I am trying to get my head back on track so I can move in the right direction. I am stating that tomorrow will be a trial run at being on C1.

Diane: emoticon So exciting ...5 lbs down. Keep setting the example for and helping us know we can do this.

June...I am right there with you.

June - I think maybe I should start weighing more often. I think I avoid the scale unless I expect a loss. But I know in terms of accountability I should weigh in more. So today I did, and I was down another pound.

I stayed compliant today but felt a little hungrier than usual. Will definitely have a yogurt in a little while. That should do it (I hope).

Hope the week is going well for all!

Tammy, congrats on the 5lb weight loss. I would love to see that but I don't think I could go that long without getting on the scale. I am an every day on the scale gal.

Yesterday was day 1 cycle 1 and it went well. Just had eggs and an orange for breakfast.

Hope everyone is staying strong or finding their way back.

Checking in earlier than usual as I might be busy tonight. Weighed in today (first time in 10 days as I am an erratic weigher) and happy to report I am down 5 more pounds. I have been compliant but not 100% perfect, and I have not been exercising much because of the muscle (?) pain I have had since this past Wednesday. Have plans to grocery shop this afternoon but only a small window of time to so so....pressure but I can do it! It just won't be a leisurely shopping trip....we need a lot and I don't have much time.

Here's to a great week for all of us!!!!

I will be starting cycle 1 with you tomorrow.. didn't work out so well Sat & Sun. I fail when I have had alcohol so I just have to not have any or limit myself to 1 or 2 (when I get to cycle 3).

We've got this.. we've done it before and we will do it again! emoticon

Diane - I always say there is nothing wrong with stopping and starting. It is the stopping and NOT starting that we have to worry about. Every compliant day is a plus in my book!

I still have that blasted pain that seems to come and go and to vary in intensity. When it started I thought it was more in my hip but not it seems more in my right groin. I have had this since Wednesday or so. Will give it a few more days before deciding to call my doctor, unless the pain gets much worse. Then I will call sooner. I stepped out of my comfort zone today and made a low carb veggie smoothie with one apple in for sweetness. I loved it. Made one for DS, and he loved it too. So this might be something I add to my repertoire. I have always said that I am not a smoothie person, but maybe I am becoming one. I am totally compliant again today. We had left over cabbage lasagna for dinner (made with just cottage cheese, no ground turkey this time). Will have to grocery shop in the next few days, even though I am not in the mood, at least not now.

Here's to a great week for all of us!

June...sorry you have joined the "struggling" club, lol.....me, too, sigh.

Thanks Davis, Tamy and everyone for your encouragement.....I will be starting a C1 again tomorrow. Monday's seem my best chance of success.....and then be compliant as long as possible. This may be when it will "stick" for me.

I don't like all the stops/starts but it is what it is...and will keep on pushing! emoticon
PS...Tammy...hoping you are better soon and able to exercise...it's a bummer about the hip pain.....I know you will be strong but with my sciatica and other back pain....being not 100% for too long makes me crave junk food, yikes!

Davis – Hope your knee is feeling better. Aches and pains are the worst! They can slow us down when we need that the least. Hope you aren’t stressing too much over your cruise wear. Stress makes it even more difficult for us to lose weight. Where are you going on your cruise? I have never been on a cruise and probably never will be. I am totally phobic of water vessels of any kind. I get tight in the chest just thinking about it. Not sure where it came from but I have been that way for at least 12 years. I remember it starting when I was on a gentle harbor cruise in Toronto and nothing traumatic happened at that time. I hear you on the death my ice cream. Ice cream is a surefire trigger food for me. I keep it on hand for my muscular DS who never overeats on anything but does love his ice cream (in moderation of course). You know…just move on…we are not perfect.

June – Sorry for your struggling… but I do like your 7 day plan. I am sure that even when you stray you are eating healthier than you would without your 17DD inspiration. Spring???? Here in eastern PA we are in the midst of yet another snow storm with 4 to 6 inches headed our way. It has been snowing all day and will likely continue well into the evening.

I am miraculously on track today with my compliant menu. I am feeling better. Today I took the last of my antibiotic prescription. I am still sleeping a lot but am ok with that. I haven’t exercised for a few days now and am not pushing myself yet. Plus, I seem to have pulled a muscle in my hip which is somewhat painful. I will take it easy again today and hope to get some housework done (especially laundry) tomorrow. Hope everyone is having a great first day of spring!!

Hey team
Today I am committing to do cycle one without the cheats. If I get desperate, I will follow the modified length of time. It appears that the7 days is being very successful for others. I am not necessarily going for perfection....but rather a committment to myself.

If you are into March madness, I hope your brackets do well.
Have a healthy weekend. emoticon

Annoying and then I go searching. I decided today I could go do upper body at the gym......I did and it felt good. Although the driving was tough on the knee. I spent the evening at home with no plan of what to eat ...and it went south. I am stressed with a cruise in one month where I need to wear pants that currently don't fit. Small stuff but it balloons in my head.

Tammy: sorry your flare up are so bad right now. Do what u need to take care of your self. Thank u for the veggie ideas and support

Diane: hang in there emoticon

Back on track today after a couple days of so-so compliance. I am feeling better today and making the most of it. Getting company this evening after dinner. Will probably serve coffee cake or pumpkin roll, both of which I have on hand for this kind of occasion. I do not plan to eat any of it.

Hope everyone's Thursday is a good one!

Diane - Given my RA and lupus diagnoses, it is likely that my skin problems are autoimmune related as well. I have had the skin problems from about age 18 months. I cannot ever remember not having them, but right now I am the worst I have been in the 31 years I have been going to my dermatologist. He agrees he has never seen me this bad. I did not take the "drowsy" med yesterday and feel much less tired today. There is a slight improvement in my skin today so I am celebrating that. I think you will be fine doing the C1 meals when you can and eating healthy C2 and C3 otherwise. And yes, I bet you will eventually have longer C1 streaks. Sorry to hear you are experiencing significant stress. I know that can do a real number on diet, weight, etc. (Story of my life to some degree) Hang in there and stay with us, even when noncompliant. Heaven knows most of us struggle and that's why we are her. Hugs to you!

I am not fully on track but better today than yesterday with my food choices. I feel a little better not really well yet so I am not beating myself up over this. I recognize that my noncompliant choices are much healthier than my choices would have been pre-17DD. So this work in progress is still progressing.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Tammy...so sorry about your skin flare! A friend's DH has had terrible itchy, hivey skin for many years over much of his body. He finally got off prednisone etc after doing a complete work up at Mayo. He was not holding out much hope but is so glad to be free of the type of meds you describe....with so many side effects etc. They could not give him a "name" for his condition but said it likely is autoimmune reaction. My prayers are with you....to feel better soon.

Compliance, sigh. Not so much. I seem to be able to do C2/C3 just fine but no more than a few days of C1. I am just going to do my best and do C1 meals as much as I am able. I think eventually I will find my short C1 streaks will turn into longer ones. My stress level is high right now (life) and not likely to change for next couple months. I want to avoid totally going off 17dd so will continue to push myself but feel this routine is doable for me for now.

Val - So happy to see you back here posting. You have a wealth of 17DD info (not to mention your great overall spirit!), and I learn a lot from you. Missed you!! As far as veggies go, when I get bored, I like to roast my veggies with a light spray of olive oil. This is especially good for asparagus and for broccoli. I roast them till they are crispy sometimes if I am in the mood for them that way. I figure I am cooking off most of the oil as well by doing them that way. It does give them a good flavor. I also like fresh green beans. Our grocery store carries, in the produce dept, fresh green beans in a microwavable bag. They cook in the microwave in about 4 minutes and taste like candy to me. They are a little on the expensive side ($2.50 when not on sale for about 3 cups), but it is worth it to me to have such a quick tasty compliant choice on hand. Some days when I am on the run and ravenous, I cook up a bad of these green beans and am totally satisfied. I don’t know why they are so delicious, but they are (at least to me). Good luck with the veggies. I will keep trying to think of other suggestions.

Davis – I really like your “closer to meeting the real me” phrase. That one is a keeper. I need to keep reminding myself of this.

Diane – What a Monday you had! Holy smokes! So nice that there are still good people out there willing to help others. Bless them for helping you.

Cyndi – Great attitude and outlook “off to see some precious little ones and their caring parents.” So evident that you love what you do! Spring has not sprung here yet. Predictions are for more snow on Friday. I had plans to go to 2 different events on Friday, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Looks like I will be staying home from both as I don’t take unnecessary chances and neither of these events are necessary, just social.

Today was not a great day for me in terms of compliance. I am on an antibiotic for my skin again, as it has been flaring horribly, and I am cold and tired. I am also on another med to help my skin, and this one causes dizziness and drowsiness. I haven’t had the dizziness but have been drowsy all day. So I gave myself a day off to rest and heal. I expect to be stronger and back on track tomorrow. And if I need another day off, I’ll take it. This infection is for the birds!

Diane! That was a great story. I can see this would be something that would happen to me. Thankfully there still are a lot of good people in the world.....glad you found some of them.

I have reserve ted the "which cycle and what's for dinner" topic. Hope others share. I get bored coming up with things to make for dinner. Check it out.

Hi team....I just want to say that I look forward to reading each of your post. By looking forward to chatting with you.

Thanks for the good wishes. The infection seems to be responding....yeah! I was actually without crutches for a while. Eating coming back on track. When I screw up I mark it as a meal not a day trashed. It helps me keep the rest of the day and day after on track.

Val- welcome back. Best thing I have found is looking at exciting recipes and recreate. Broccoli I cook in chicken broth. Green beans I marinate in garlic, red pepper flakes, and olive oil then grill them. I even buy the prewar he'd packages of green beans. Buying prepared vegs. Saves time and increases chances if making it to the plate for me..
Cyndi.....keep walking. Can't wait till I can catch up.
Tammy: Way to go with the DS birthday.

Hello team! I have been missing from here for months. I need advice on how to increase my desire for vegetables again. I used to LOVE vegetables! For some reason the past months, almost a year, the thought of eating vegetables makes me go "EWWW". Especially it seems green beans, more specific, frozen green beans. I can handle the canned once in awhile though. I do ok with vegetable soup most of the time but that gets boring. Lettuce is out since for several years I have not been able to digest it right 90% of the time. I do so-so with fresh spinach. My appetite in general is not great except for things I shouldn't eat....bread, chips, pasta, If someone else makes it though I seem to be ok. Weird huh? Like my niece made a really nice turkey sandwich and an orzo salad with lots of grape tomatoes and asparagus on Saturday and I loved it! I had a glass of sparkling water and POM juice instead of the POM mimosas the others had. I guess I just want to see if anyone else had gone through this. My blood work is fine too.
Thanks for letting me vent. I also don't lose or gain weight. Been the same quite awhile.

Happy Monday all....eventful weekend. Garage door opener broke and could not get car out for a bit.....hoping it will be fixed today. Driving the golf cart to the course and it died on a four lane road in our development....yikes! Two nice men got out of their truck and pushed it into a parking lot. Then we caught a ride with a nice man coming out of the fitness center who had seen our predicament. Cart is still in lot waiting to be towed for repair later today. It is always something....very thankful for the kindness of strangers!

I had my own pizza party challenge at the neighbors and ate two big slices. So I was not compliant Sat nite and that slip led to my eating some cookies on Sunday. Starting over again today to be on track C1 at 100%. It has not been easy.....darn. emoticon

Davis- I am so sorry to hear about the infection, but so glad the antibiotics are working. Sounds like you are kicking out some germs in your body as well as pounds. I will think of you and hope that the pain starts to heal and that the surgery was so worth it!!! emoticon

Tammy - You do amazing with your 3 bite rule and smaller portions. I know it is a lifestyle change and that truly is a reflection of how far you have come.

Lots of walking yesterday enjoying the sun. It just lifts the spirit! Have a wonderful Monday. Off to see some precious little ones and their caring parents.

Davis – Glad you are on the mend, especially after having the complications! Good for you for dropping those pounds, and happy you are back posting again.

Cyndi – Woo hoo for more compliance!

I strayed a bit from plan for DS’s birthday. We ended up at Outback Steakhouse where I had Caesar shrimp salad with the dressing on the side. The salad was so good I barely touched the dressing. But I also had a piece of the bread and shared an appetizer with DS. At home I had a very small piece of birthday cake which was more than enough for me. I am done for the day and will be back to full compliance tomorrow.

Hey gals,
I'm back. Knee surgery went as planned ....at least until the day after when the surgical infection set in. Major swelling and pain. Antibiotics started and now Im ready to switch from tea and toast to coffee and the right stuff.
Loss for week: 2.5.......these are some of the klingy friendly pounds that keep finding me. I think it is time to "unfriend" them and move along the journey.

Just a quick check in after a busy day that was 90% on track so I am not complaining. Another full day ahead of me tomorrow, and I'm pretty tired right now. It is cold and rainy here, making me just want to curl up and rest, so I think I will.

Here's to a wonderful Sunday for all!

New day - Diane - Sounds like you are BEETING the weight in C1. emoticon

RN - I remember going to a spark conference and hearing that we all will find temptation and eat it . The problem is that often we get distracted and stay distracted. Good for you for getting back and track and really getting the water in. I got off track last night when I went out even though I had a plan. I am going to drink lots of water today and stay on plan.

Tammy - YAY to you for 2 pound loss!! Your meals sound delicious and thanks for sharing. I always love to hear what others are eating.

Have a great weekend!

RN – Ah, Mexican is one of my favorites too. You might want to consider making the Mexican stuffed peppers recipe which is on our recipe thread. It is a favorite of mine and my DS’s (and he doesn’t have any weight to lose). Congrats on your success. I understand about the modifications. As long as you don’t go overboard, that 3 bite rule is a good one. Just remember to have your protein so that you aren’t hungry. Good idea increasing your water too. Restaurant food is so loaded with sodium that we sure do need to flush it out.

Diane – Yay for your one pound loss. You are going in the right direction, and I know that feels great. Woo Hoo Diane!

I am happy to report that I am down 2 pounds this week. I don’t weigh in on any regular schedule. I just weigh in when the spirit moves me (usually when I am expecting a loss). So this is a 2 pound loss from my last weigh in which was a few days ago. Seeing a loss is highly motivating for me, of course. So today I am well on track, had my Live Active cottage cheese for breakfast with an apple and will probably have an egg white veggie omelet for lunch. I am having some work done in my kitchen at the moment so lunch will have to wait till the work is done…in about an hour or so I expect. I am planning on baked fish for dinner with a big salad and some broccoli.

Let’s make today a LUCKY Friday the 13th! And here comes theweekend! Let’s stay strong!

Feeling pretty good today. Got off track last night when we went to Mexican-MY FAV! However, got on the scales this morning to see another pound was gone!

I have increased my water intake today and have been eating smaller portions this morning.

I have found myself having more energy with doing even a modified version of the 17 day diet (having a few things here and there that aren't on the list, in limitation).

LETS DO THIS!! emoticon

Chris...good to read your post....so happy for your continued success with maintaining. It must feel wonderful to be in C4. You deserve this as a reward for all your courage and strength to keep on with 17dd while going through such personal stress.

Tammy...you did well with the pizza challenge. I would have had a tough time with limiting it to two squares! We ate out with friends last night and I ordered a gourmet "beet salad"...did not look like much food when it arrived but was tasty and did manage to fill me up. I am down one lb today and that feels good, too. So far C1 is doing what it is supposed to do...WooHoo!

Cyndi...enjoyed your spring steps all the way across the Internet miles emoticon

I am off to a good start today and love the feeling I have on days like today when I am in control and feeling strong. My meals for today are planned, a good thing because I have a busy day with much to do!

Tammy - thanks for sharing that sweet story. So touching! I admire that your cravings were under control and that you just had 2 small squares and ordered the veggie style. Way to Go! emoticon

Davis - Sorry about having to try to post 3 times. What dedication!!!

SP STOKES - you motivated me to join weight watchers not for the plan, but to really just be physically with other people and for some reason, I do better when I am financially involved. That sounds so bad when I write it, but I know that if I pay for those meetings, I will go and stay on plan because I am taking money away from our entertainment budget to do so.

Spring is almost here!!! I came home and walked my dogs again taking the older one for a short walk and the younger one then went for a much longer walk.

Putting a pring into my step today and feeding my soul with healthy options! I will think of your pizza story Tammy now when I go out. Have my meals planned, so off I go. Have a fantastic day!!! emoticon emoticon

Diane – Woo hoo for resisting that off-plan treat. That’s the way to do it! Now you will be stronger next time that urge rears its ugly head.

Davis – Congrats on staying on track in the face of stress! That kind of behavior surely will pay off at the scale.

Cyndi – Love your phrase about healthy food feeding the soul. I think I will use that from time to time too. Hope today was better for you at work than yesterday was.

Chris – Glad to see you are doing well. Nothing wrong with maintaining till you are ready to do more…and my guess is you’d be fine even if you stayed right where you are now!!!

At our meeting last night we were able to order toppings for the pizza, and my table readily agreed to mushrooms and peppers when I suggested that. So that was a small victory for me. I was pretty hungry and had two pieces (the pizza comes in squares), and it was good. However, I did not have any pizza craving or any other cravings when I got home. Today I am back on track without any problems. No major challenges that I know of till Sunday which is my DS’s birthday. He is still deciding how we will celebrate. He is not a big cake eater, and for many years has asked me to make him his favorite Oreo dessert treat. When I asked him today what he wanted he said, “maybe an ice cream cake.” He is an ice cream lover. Whatever he decides, I am prepared to abide by the 3 bite rule

Just want to share a little story from my meeting last night. About 2 weeks ago, a dear member of our organization passed away at age 79. He and his sweet wife faithfully attended all of our meetings and have been well respected members for many years. Last night at the start of the meeting we had a moment of silence in memory of Dick, and at the end of the meeting several members gave short tributes to him. His wife was there, though it had to be difficult for her. I admire her for coming. Well at each meeting we have a small 50-50 raffle. Guess who won last night’s raffle. Yep…..Dick’s widow. Everyone said it was Dick’s way of showing her and us that he was there with us in spirit.

Chris - Hope it all settles down and so glad someone helped you out with the shoveling. Hopefully the warm sun is coming out by you as it has here in DC.

Tammy - Thanks for the lemon water post. I had just stocked up on lemons and had read so many things about it harming the enamel, but these pluses out way any of that. I truly believe all things in moderation and love my warm lemon water. It counts as water too compared to coffee or tea.

Rough day at work and came home to distress with 2 dark chocolates and then stopped and got out my leftovers from last night. I felt so much better that I stopped and turned to healthy food to heal my soul.

Have a great day tomorrow everyone!!

Hello all! I know that I have been MIA, and as some of you know, I have been trying to stay off of the internet and social media as much as possible lately to reconnect with my husband. I have also been super busy at work, which is when I normally would have posted here. But I have to get in on this lemon water conversation. I was just talking about this with my husband a few days ago, as he has had several colds this winter, and I haven't had one in 2 years (which just happens to coincide with the time I started drinking lemon water). Thanks so much Tammy for posting the list of lemon water's benefits. I forwarded that to my husband, who has now asked me to fix it for him in the mornings as well! I absolutely LOVE my hot lemon water. I can always tell when I haven't had it. I add a packet of Truvia to mine, as I just cannot take the taste without that added.

I am doing pretty well. Survived Snowmaggedon 2.0, as we are calling it here in Kentucky. We had 15 inches last week in less than 24 hours. To have 2 big snowstorms like that in a row is unprecedented here! Luckily, we had some ambitious young people in our neighborhood this time, so I didn't have to shovel all that snow! It took 2 of them 30 minutes to clear our driveway and sidewalk. The last one took me almost 3 hours and messed up my back for a week! I was very thankful for that knock on the door on Thursday!

As far as diet goes, I am pretty much maintaining right now. I tried the WW thing, but it just wasn't for me. I am too lazy to keep up with tracking, even with the new Power Foods, it was just too much work for me. I just have too many other things going on in my life right now, between reconciling with my husband, a promotion at work, 2 grandbabies, sick dogs, the horrible weather, it's just been a crazy time for me. So maintaining with all that is going on seems pretty good for me right now! Maybe once things settle back down, I will give it another go, but for now, it's C4 for me!

I am so glad to see everyone posting. And WELCOME BACK Davis! We certainly missed you, and are glad to see you doing well!

Tammy - a while back, you had asked me what my former user name was (see, I have been reading posts when I can!) It was DOGTIRED2000! Once I lost all that weight, I didn't feel tired any more, so decided it was time to make a change to that as well!

Looks like warmer weather is upon us, and it couldn't come to soon! Looking forward to SPRING!

Tammy....thanks for all the lemon water info. I do plan to try it. So far I have only done the hot water part, without lemon. If my stomach will tolerate the lemon it sounds like it would be good to add it! I know one or even two slices of pizza will not derail your 17dd efforts. You are sooo strong!

My C1D1 went well. I was very tempted last night to have an off diet treat but managed to stop that thinking. Today I am going to do my best to be just as strong. It is one day at a time and I know from past experience once I get several days of C1 behind me, it does get easier, and I also don't want to break that streak....a mental thing for me but each day on track does make me stronger for the next day!

Keep on being strong everyone! emoticon

Diane – Woo Hoo for C1 and your preparedness. I too have stopped counting rounds. Now I just want to count lost pounds!!

Cyndi – Impressive meal planning and walking, an excellent combination for success. I bet the dogs appreciated the outdoor exercise too!

Davis - Yep…learn from experience and move on…it’s the way to do it. And you nailed it when you said it is about treating yourself better. I know I have to keep reminding myself of that….Treating myself better means eating healthy compliant food and not caving to my “inner brat.”

Spstokes – Wow you and your DH are quite a pair! I did not remember about your DH so I think you might not have shared that with us before. Congrats to Randy too! Won’t you two be quite the pair in Italy in the spring??? Will you share pics with us??

Today I was another on track feel good day for me. Honestly, if every day could be like today I’d be at goal by now. So my task is to just keep repeating today, right? Well already a challenge coming tomorrow. It is the monthly meeting for one of the organizations I belong to. Usually it is a dinner meeting where we order from a menu but tomorrow night’s meeting is a “pizza party.” I might be able to order myself a salad but will probably have a slice of pizza as well. So I am going to load up on veggies before I go and keep reminding myself that all or nothing thinking is self-defeating, and even if I have 1 slice of pizza, it does not give me permission to blow it for the rest of the night.

Thanks Davis for mentioning the lemon water. We haven’t discussed that much lately here. I know some folks really don’t care for it and some have done well without it. I actually like the lemon water and like the routine of having it first thing in the morning…again, setting the tone for my day, just like my Live Active cottage cheese does. A few days ago I came across the following information about lemon water. Some of you might have seen this before in one form or another, but I will post the info for the newbies who might be lurking out there.

Here is the link from the Complete Health and Happiness website

Newday - Keep going!
SPStokes- thank you for checking in. If you haven't been to Italy, you are going to love it. I found I walked so much and we combine lunch and dinner to save on calories. There were lots of fish options, especially in the Venice area.
Davis- hope you enjoyed your company though and enjoyed those basketball games. It is living life to the fullest.

On track today and no demons, although they tried many times, but I bought a giant mineral water and walked for over one and half hours and then had to bathe the dogs to get the salt off, so lots to keep me busy. I really loved this spring, sunny day!

C1D1 and past counting what "round" it might be, lol! Going to head to the grocery store for salad fixings and chicken for dinner. I have frozen veggies on hand and fresh apples and yogurt for morning snack time. I froze helpings of veggie soup to have when I get a hunger urge....or as a side with meals if needed for variety.

Checking in to see how everyone is doing. I've figured out the best breakfast for me and it gets me ready for the hotel breakfast in Rome at the beginning of April. One hard boiled egg, 1/2 oz sharp cheese, lemon water, coffee, and 30 minute walk with Cooper. Fortunately Cooper is not going on the trip but Randy and I will get in lots of walking.

Did I mention, my husband, Randy, is the reason I started the 17dd. He started it first and lost 5 lb the first week. I told him he couldn't keep the secret to himself. Well we've been doing the 17dd since the first of August 2014. We've lost a combined total of 85 lbs. We are both lifetime WW members and nothing was working to get us back to goal until we adopted this way of eating. We've figured out how to work in into our lifestyle. We are wine folks and still go on dates and to wineries. Clean eating works for us and this diet is basically clean eating!!! Randy is 9 lbs away from goal. He's lost 51 lbs since August. I'm so proud of him!!

We've learned that we have to be in this together. That way nothing too bad gets into the house and our pantry. We cook and eat the same way. Works for us.

Have a great Monday everyone! Keep up the good work everyone!

Hi everyone!
Spstokes...CONGRATULATIONS! Just hearing your story makes feel so inspired and reestablishes the belief that I really can do this if I give MYSELF a chance. All programs work but some are more suited to a persons lifestyle. I don't know why I keep insisting that my way is better when clearly it always takes me further from my goal! So thank you for showing me it can be done. I couldn't agree more that this group is wonderful!

Cyndi.....awesome weight loss and congrats on search for a good video to exercise. I hate winter because I like being outdoors. I joined fitness planet to start working out...so far so good.

Brain fart on names......but way to go with having family for a month and such little weight gain and the quick return to the group!!! It is so hard to restart and return when you say you will...so thanks for being a great role model to us all.

Tammy I found the demons i. My closet.....we had company for 4 days and spent most of the time at the women's ACC Basketball tournaments. One thing lead to another and dang if I wasn't taking another unhealthy vacation.

Today is about learning from that experience and treating myself better. Next arrival of company I am going to try to preplan the adventure with more detail.

New day! We can all do this and keep each other inspired. Thank you all for being here!

All things are possible...maybe not easy...but possible and worthwhile!!! I believe in ME!

SPSTOKES - emoticon Wow what an accomplishment and you had earned that right to cry. Way to go! You have been inspirational and hopefully you will check in here and keep all of us motivated to get there.

Tammy - love that you went to the market for fresh veggies.

Diane - Jump in and start swimming and soon that water will feel warm again.

Indulged with my demon (per Tammy) this weekend and I can tell in my pants that I have been doing it too much lately. So strawberries and yogurt for breakfast. I have turkey with onions and mushrooms along with some green beans packed for lunch. Now to make sure I have my water bottle.

Have a marvelous Monday everyone!!!

SuccessFinally! Yesterday I weighed in at WW and the scale said 129.8!!!!! After realizing I was within 1.8 lbs of goal and am again lifetime, in goodstanding, FREE, I burst Into tears. I thought about the struggles and misses and finally understanding how I need to eat to feel good and realizing I haven't been at this weight since 06/2006, I just cried! I'm not resting on my laurels. I made a new goal. 123, my pre-pregnancy weight. Keep in mind the baby is 22. 😄

This team has helped me so very much. Really love you all. Keep up the good work everyone. I'll keep using this team as support for sure!

Diane - I bet some of your weight gain is from sodium...but in any case, you know you will say good bye to those pounds once you get back on track. Give yourself the time to get past those early-on cravings should they occur....protein, protein, protein!

I am pleased with myself today. I turned down an opportunity to go for fast food and instead went to my favorite farm market grocery store and stocked up on more fresh veggies. For me, that's real progress.

Hope everyone is enjoying a blessed Sunday!

Weighed in this morning at 154.8 which is 5.8 lbs over what I was a month ago. Sigh!

That's what happens when I just eat what and when I want. It doesn't help to be cooking meals for 4 adults which are foods I usually don't eat because they not on 17dd food list. (Lasagna, roast beef with gravey and mashed potatoes, sweet rolls for breakfast....you get the idea, lol). Even though at times I chose healthy....too much of the time I did not.

Monday morning I start day 1 of a new C1 cycle. Hope it gets me over my food cravings. It will be back to yogurt for treats and no carbs except veggies. Need to make some of that veggie soup and stock up on chicken, too. Right now I feel like I am standing at the end of the diving board with cold water below and knowing I will have to plunge in, lol! I am building up my resolve to get back on track!

PS....glad to read everyone seems to be doing so well on 17dd. WTGO
Good luck with your knee surgery, Davis!

Whatever demon possessed me yesterday is gone today and I am totally on track and again feeling great. My exercise is done and I am feeling back in control. We are above the freezing mark and even have a little sun today. I can hear the snow melting on the roof. Spring can't be far away.

Spark on everyone, and remember to spring forward...except for those of you who live where they don't do so (AZ and Hawaii I think, right?).

Cyndi - It was another snow day in our area too. For the second consecutive day all schools in our area were closed. I am always happy when I see the schools are closed as I don't think they should take chances with the lives of their children and staff. Before I retired, I had my share of white-knuckled drives to and from work. I don't miss those days! Let us know how our recipes turned out. I am always on the look out for new compliant recipes.

I struggled today and am going to bed before I cave again. I think it is mostly psychological, but on snowy cold days like today I really crave the starchy carbs. Will be back on track tomorrow.

Ventured out to drive my DH to metro as I have yet another snow day, but the roads were pretty bad. I stopped at the grocery to get some fruit, yogurt and veggies.

Trying some new recipes today.

Tammy - I truly believe changing our mindset is so much of the battle. I know I crave strawberries and baked apples more.

Davis hope your surgery goes well and recovery is quick.

Off to go do a walking video, since walking outside is hazardous for the health currently. Tomorrow expecting warmer temps, so then out to explore. Planning, prepping, and reading great articles.

Davis – Good luck with your knee procedure. Knee pain is the pits. Sounds like you are doing great with only one bit of bread or one small cheat per day like that. You are well within the “three bite rule.” Coffee emoticon is a comfort food for me, much more so than tea, though I do have tea at times also to help me through the challenging temptations.

June – Yep, a little cheat is okin my mind too as long as it doesn’t get out of control, just like you said. Sometimes just that little taste is enough to keep us going. emoticon

Cyndi – You nailed it when you wrote that we have a much healthier mind set than we did in our pre-Spark days. emoticon I read today in an online article that recent research has shown that we can train our brains and our bodies to crave healthy food simply by eating healthier more consistently. I think that is what we are doing on the 17DD.

Diane – Hello to you from snowy sub-zero temp Pennsylvania! Another 7 inches of snow landed here today emoticon , but I am optimistic that this is the last snow storm of the season. Good luck to you when you restart. You know we will be here with you.

Chris – Hope you are safe in the snow. emoticon

I did ok today and once again got a lot accomplished here at home since we were snowed in again. Not sure if the roads will be good enough for me to shop for more veggie tomorrow. If they are not, I’ll still be fine. That’s why I keep a supply of frozen veggies on hand.

Here’s to a wonderful weekend for all!

emoticon Hi from sunny AZ!
I feel like I have been gone forever...not just a month, LOL!

I read through the posts and want to say congrats to all of you still here and on the 17dd!
Welcome to the newbies, too! (I have had houseguests the entire month of February and into March....the latest was my Sister and her SO who just left yesterday afternoon.). A wonderful time but with cooking for extra people, baking goodies, eating out more, etc etc....it has been a month++ off the 17dd for me. I am giving myself a couple days to eat my normal healthy stuff, and I will empty the frig of temptations, etc....drink my usual water, tea and on schedule again....stock up on healthy choices....then I will weigh in to see what I have gained and hit C1 cycle in earnest.

June, I have been reading your posts about the shorter cycles you have been doing. Glad it seems to be working for you. I may have to modify my 17 days, too.....but will see when I start as I would like to do the first full 17 days as C1 to cleanse my current sugar cravings.

Guess I need to get moving....will check in again after I weigh and get my new start point and set my goal ticker...wish me luck on my restart....I know I will need it, Diane
