emoticon Mia....so sorry you fell and broke your arm.
I fell 3 yrs ago after tripping with sandal toe on an uneven cobblestone sidewalk in Vail, CO. I felt it was a partly the fault of city as some extra concrete formed a 1" lip around only a small part of their access panel. Really could not easily see it. No lawsuit or anything like that....all I asked them to do is fix the danger....hope they did! Regardless I went down fast hitting my face/head. Whip lash and shoulder injuries, too. Very painful and scary experience. I never had time to put my hands out to stop myself so avoided the fracture you experienced but my face was a mess! Good luck with your recovery....it takes time!
PS...WTG on staying on track with 17dd.....so easy to give in to comfort foods when you are hurting!!

Hi Everyone!

I haven't checked in because I fell and broke my arm on Saturday. I've been quite accident prone lately! A few weeks ago I cut my finger on the vegetable slicer, and now I tripped over a curb! I really went flying and fell hard.

KathyMag, you have some company now -- I'm "broken" too! Also, I had a hip replacement 3 years ago. I hope you can avoid it, but if you do have to have it done, I'll be glad to answer any questions you might have, if I can. You could always try the cortisone first and see how it goes -- it might at least provide some relief and give you some more time to prepare.

I continue to lose weight very slowly -- a half-pound last week. I have no clue what day I'm on or even what cycle I'm in, and I think I need to figure that out. I still need the rules and the regimentation at this point, because I see I'm getting more and more loosey-goosey with the whole thing. So I think I will declare today as Cycle One Day One! That makes it feel official and doesn't leave any wiggle room.

Glad to see you all here supporting and encouraging each other. This is a group of truly outstanding gals.

emoticon Kathy.....so sorry for your loss. Certainly understand your not being here for a while. Will add my prayers for comfort and peace for you and your family

Tara....hang in there...it does get easier after kicking the sugar/carbs....towards last half of C1. Now I am in C3 and it is clear (for me) just adding a few more "good carbs" makes me want more carbs and I am not talking good ones. emoticon I have to be really careful.

So far have been strong. Invited neighbors over for a few hours last evening and I refrained from wine and had water instead....had a couple pieces of cheese with rice/nut crackers.....also had 4shrimp. All in all I did not feel exactly deprived but felt if I had the wine I would have just indulged in eating more than I should. Wine also causes me to retain water so my choice was to abstain.

Walked again this a.m. 36 day streak!! My "unreliable" scale actually shows me .5 lbs heavier again this morning so I am anxious/nervous to see what the new one says Friday. Can't be gaining .5 just third morning of C3 or I am in trouble!

C1D1!!!

Hi everyone so sorry I went missing again. Last time I checked in my mother in law was in the hospital she passed away 2 weeks after she was admitted and it was really tough on my husband and my 10 and 12 year old kids that were so attached to her and also so tough on me. I was my mother inlaws caretaker for many years, I scheduled doctors appointments, made sure she took her meds and also gave financial support. She was 74 years old and unfortunately since she had been a smoker for many years her lungs just gave out. Given the horrible year we had with both of our kids hospitalized with asthma it was so hard to watch her die this way. So now we are back to normal and time to start taking care of me again. I am so sorry I wasn't here for all the good and bad times as a leader but will try to catch up tonight on my laptop and meet all the new people and check in with all my old friends!!!

Hi all, my name is Tara and I am new to 17DD and this forum. On C1D3 right now. It's hard but I knew it would be. I had to do something to break my addiction to sweets and starchy carbs. I look forward to getting to know everyone here.

Well, folks - it appears that I am broken.

Got moderate damage in my left hip which is causing all the problems. I'm shortly off to my last visit at PT - as PT really isn't helpful with this condition.

My next options are cortizone or hip replacement - my call. For now.....I'll be doing what I have been doing until I can't stand it anymore - then I'll call my orthopod back for next steps.

In the meantime, she suggests SAM-e for pain management and adjust diet to more of a Mediterranean style......the Mediterranean Diet really helps to reduce edema and inflammation.

That's doable and still staying within the parameters of the 17 Day Diet.....in fact, I think it's probably preferable in my case.

Bummed I didn't have a better outcome - but I'll get over it.....

Beth - emoticon I meant to thank you yesterday for your kind words! Yesterday was a bad day, but today is going to be better. I love Spin class, and am also very impressed that you are a sub! I could barely do the class, much less do it and lead others at the same time. emoticon I have a spinning cycle, which I had to leave behind for now... can't wait until I can get it back and start working out on that again! It really works your legs, so I understand completely about not having any for Zumba (another of my faves) afterwards!

Thanks Tammy! Yes, I thank God every day for my wonderful mom and that she is still around to be able to help me out, and that I can help her out at the same time! And I got to see my wonderful granddaughter last night, who is just a little over 2 months old now, and starting to coo and really notice her surroundings. Her smiles yesterday melted my heart and made me feel so much better. And my 2nd granddaughter is due in less than 2 weeks. Yes, I believe God knows what he is doing, even though it may be painful right now; I have LOTS to be thankful for and LOTS to look forward to. Some days are just harder... but I am getting through those knowing that the Lord has blessed me in many, many ways!

Hope everyone has a TERRIFIC TUESDAY!

Beth – You substitute teach a spin class! I am impressed! Way to go to burn up the calories and help others at the same time! And working over the weekend too. Bravo to you! Glad your day started off well. I am sure you will keep the momentum going.

Diane – Your attitude is great which tells me your efforts are just as great. Poo-poo on the scale for now. You are doing everything you need to do so when you have a reliable scale your successes will eventually show up there. And you will smile, and so will I smile with you.

Chris – Ugh indeed! I am so glad you are moving on as well as you are. Thank God you have your mom to help you as much as she can. You will get through this and come out on top. I just know it.

Well I am happy to be back on my healthy routine this glorious Monday. The 2 parties I went to over the weekend were very enjoyable. It was easier to stay compliant at yesterday’s anniversary party than at Saturday’s graduation party. Stayed the same on the scale today but really need to buckle down so that I don’t see a gain at next weigh in. The guys are still working on the outside of the house. It is looking good but I am ready for it to be finished already...They tell me it should be finished by Friday.....Let's hope!

Here’s to a wonderful week for this wonderful team!

Thanks for the hugs and kind words, Diane. Yes, I believe I have a very good atty, and lots of family, friends and co-workers, including this wonderful bunch of spark friends! I feel blessed to have so many people who care about me. It certainly helps me keep going through these dark days. I know that there is light at the end of this tunnel, and it's not the train! LOL

I love C3. I followed the no alcohol and no carbs after 2 rule, and was able to lose weight during C3. I would also recommend staying away from some of the optional snacks. I could do the light string cheese, but not the skinny cow ice cream treats. Those are a big trigger for me, and I would find I would start having one every night if I wasn't careful. I know that you will do well!

Take care and have a great week!

Thanks everyone for supportive words....I will keep strong. Scale said 154.5 this a.m.....that is 1.5 up from my last posted 153. I will wait and actually record the weight on Friday after my new scale is in place and settled in it's new home....LOL. Whatever it says will be like a new start for me...as I question all my past numbers right from day 1.

Today is first day cycle 3...wow! I can't believe how far I have come on this journey! I will add the extra calories and starches etc....but still going to do my best not to have carbs after 2:00 and no alcohol. Book says if you do those two things in cycle 3 you may even lose in cycle 3....I feel like by adding carb/calories every day, I will more likely gain but time will tell. I feel like I am jumping off the high dive board and hoping I don't belly flop....LOL....here I go......

emoticon Chris...so sorry you are dealing with all this stress....hope you have a good atty to give you counsel....and friends close by to give you hugs. You certainly have my admiration for sticking to healthy eating....I don't think I could be so strong....hang in there!

Hang in there Diane - you are doing GREAT!! I know that you are frustrated because of your scale, but knowing that your clothes are fitting more loosely is a big motivator. emoticon

I wouldn't worry too much about the scale right now, just stay on plan and you will do great! I know what you mean about it being harder to lose with your health issues. I am on prednisone, and was when I started the 17DD last February. It was very hard because the prednisone makes me super hungry and usually makes me retain water like crazy. But in spite of all that, I was still able to get to my goal weight. So if I can do it, I know that anyone can! Just keep pushing forward and you will continue to see good results, regardless of what the scale says! Stay strong!!

Ok, my day just got worse... just checked the checking account that I am a joint owner on, and saw that my soon to be ex is now on a trip to Florida with his mistress, while I am struggling to make ends meet and borrowing money from my 80 year old mother! UGH!!!!! I'm trying to hang in there, but it's things like this that really set me back!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Good Morning! Happy Monday. I am already looking forward to the weekend! Ha. Worked hard this weekend on our business, got a big order in and had to write it up, but we sorely needed it so I was glad to do it. Plus Spin class Sat/Sun - I am a substitute instructor. I forgot how much spinning kicks your butt! Tried to practice a new Zumba song after Sunday's class and had NO LEGS. Really!

But onward to a new week.

Newday - I hope that new scale gives you some satisfaction. It seems like you are doing all the right things, gotta trust the process thathas worked before and will work again. :)

Tammy - I cannot imagine it is easy to relax/rest with workers in your kitchen! On the brights side you will have an awesome new space for preparing those healthy meals.

Chris - DogWalker - I do not know what your ex did, haven't had time to read back in the posts but hope that you begin to feel lightness in your heart and good things start appearing in your life.

I am looking forward to getting to know you all. Cannot post all the time cuz I am at work, but will be checking in.

So far so good, the day is off to a happy start. Expect good things!

Scale woes continue after it was moved. Definitely cannot count on the number and have a new scale on order.....arrives Thursday. Scale is very old and battery is likely going bad and is part of the issue (cannot be changed in this old model....no access).

I am discouraged, sometimes think maybe my whole time weighing the last 33 days cannot be counted on as accurate at all. I know my clothes are fitting much looser BUT.....Wondering how much I have really lost? The last weight I recorded (if correct) said I had lost 10 lbs after almost 2full cycles and being really true to diet and exercising daily. It is so hard with all my health/age issues to lose! Sigh!

Today is my last day on cycle 2 and will start cycle 3 tomorrow. Planning to follow it and start fresh with new scale at whatever number it tells me. I know it's not the actual number I end up weighing but how I feel and how I look in my clothes....I am wanting to get down a minimum of one size to a comfortable 10.
I want reward for effort, too (number wise)....or I will not be able to remain
as strong as I have been these 33 days! emoticon

Beth – Thanks for your prayers. I feel a lot better today…still not 100% but much better.

Chris – I understand your pain regarding your husband. But I have faith that you will move on and be stronger than ever. When trust is gone, there really isn’t anything worthwhile left. Thanks for your prayers too. So happy that today was better for me. I agree with you about the need for rest. It makes a huge difference for me too. I was able to get some things done today, but I did not over-do it. Your pizza sounds delicious. I hope to make it one of these days. A friend often gives us zucchini from his garden so perhaps when he does I’ll try the recipe.

Diane – Bless you and your hubby sharing 50 years together...High school sweethearts? As for drinking water, I always have water near me, either in a bottle or in a glass. I think it really does make a difference in our weight loss efforts. Loser clothes are a great indicator of success. Woo Hoo for you!

Mia – Hope you are enjoying the weekend.

I managed to accomplish some things today and am celebrating that. The guys are still here working on the house and will be for about another week or so I think. (The 2 big projects are new siding and all new windows. They are also doing some other smaller projects while they are here.) It is disruptive but worth it in the long run. Today they installed a new range hood/exhaust/light over the stove. I love it, and their work is true perfection. The down side is that it is hard to rest when they are here working. Today I did ok but not perfect with my eating….not making excuses (?) but I know I will do better when I feel better. I did go out through with my dinner plans. It turned out to be an absolutely fabulous time. So even though I wasn’t in the mood to go, I am glad I went. Another busy weekend for me socially….graduation party for my cousin’s daughter tomorrow and an anniversary party for some church friends on Sunday (second marriage for both who are in their 60s and this is their 1st anniversary…..see Chris there is hope for all of us!).

Here's to a great Saturday for everyone!

TGIF everyone! It's been kind of a rough week for me, both at work and emotionally. I am trying so hard to see the positive in this mess with my soon to be ex, but it is still very painful to think that the man who I was going to spend the rest of my life with could do something so low! Those of you who have such wonderful DH's, treasure them and let them know how much you appreciate the little things, like cleaning the laundry room floor! I hope that one day I can find someone like that to share the rest of my days with.

Ok, enough of my pity party! You guys ROCK! I am so happy to see all of you posting! This team was dying a slow death and you have rejuvenated it in a huge way!

Tammy - I hope that you are ok. I'm keeping you in my prayers. Nothing worse than an autoimmune flare-up! Try to get as much rest as you can. I know that helps me more than anything when I feel one coming on. It's only been very recently that I have even been able to tell the signs, but I am getting better. For those of you who don't know, I have been diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome, but also tested positive for lupus and RA. FUN times!!

I made that zucchini pizza casserole for my mom and me last night. I used fat-free cheeses, turkey pepperoni and black olives as my toppings. It was quite yummy! It definitely kicked my pizza craving! And my mom liked it as well. We froze the leftovers and I'll let you know how those heat up!

Have a great weekend!

Scale number is finally down 1/2 lb but with all my scale issues I am not more confident that is accurate number or accurate direction for purposes of my weight loss graphing. I sense body wise I am losing and I have remained true to 17day diet, especially careful about the no carbs after 2:00. I don't have any carbs after my lunch on carb days and that would be by 1:00.

My worst diet busters are sometimes forgetting to drink enough water and getting enough rest this past week.....some personal family stress issues (the worst kind for me....out of my control....but not my thoughts).

Possibly my calories are too low which might add days to my plateau time but if not hungry I don't eat more. Had same issue last time on diet....calories often under 1200 so this time I am not counting them intentionally!

I feel I am on track with weight at least heading in the right direction and my clothes getting looser...yeah!

Good Morning! TGIF!!!

Tammy I hope you start feeling better. You are in my prayers, new friend. Lupus is definitely not for sissys. :( I did not realize nuts are in all cycles, that is great news. I have to count them out or else I eat too many but the almonds are very handy to have at the office to get me over the tough hungry times due to small breakfast. I get to work so early it is hard to get a decent breakfast into me before I leave the house. So I have a yogurt, fruit, or nuts or all 3 to make it to lunch. On lunch break I go to the gym 3 days a week for weight training, so eat my lunch late at my desk.

It is all a juggling act. DH has me working at home in evenings, so I struggle to balance work with pleasure. I know from past experience all work and no play makes me very unhappy. Rest seems to be the first thing to go out the window.

Here's to a lovely Friday for us all.

Beth

The scale has not been moved since morning so I decided to get on it again before bedtime....and I weigh 2 lbs less than this morning after eating/drinking all day. So I know it was off this morning. It is sitting on a ceramic tile floor that appears level....no wobbles.

Will see what it does in a.m..... but I am thinking a new scale is definitely on the horizon. Bed Bath Beyond did not have the "EatSmart" scale I wanted. It had most user positive comments about accuracy. So many people had wild fluctuations with many of the scales out there.

Have a good night all!

PS: yes! DH is wonderful....just got a "Happy 50th Anniversary" card last week from him....50 yrs from our first date (I was 16). He often does the floors for me now because of my physical issues. Sometimes we do them together. Today he was expecting an old grade school friend to spend the day so he washed the laundry room floor.....just part of what he decided needed cleaning...gotta love him for that!

NewDay...you have a DH who is up at 5 and mops the floor? I sure hope I can find one that does the same! Vacuuming would be nice, too, although it's a bit noisy.

As for your scale, they usually work best on the firmest surface you have. If it's still fluctuating even then, I'd agree that it's time for a new one! emoticon emoticon

Beth – I too track my food even though we are not counting calories, etc. It has helped give me a snapshot of my nutritional intake. I had some friends express concerns that my calorie intake was too low on C1 even though I was not hungry. My best cycle ever was my very first C1. I think I was so meticulous about following the diet and of course at that point I had the most weight to lose. My scale fluctuates too. And like you, I watch for the trends….going down….going up…going down. There are also so many other factors that impact our weigh-ins (water retention, digestion, etc.). The scale I have now is an Eat Smart Precision Scale. I got it on Amazon.com about 2 years ago or so. I like it better than any other scale I ever had. I have a friend who has a stand-up doctor’s style scale where you move the weights. She claims that to be the very most accurate you can get. But now, one of my doctors has a digital scale….so go figure!

Diane - Your goal is entirely attainable in my opinion by following the diet. Remember, we are here to cheer you on and support your efforts.

Chris – The low humidity and pleasant temps has now arrived in PA. It is so nice to turn off the air conditioning and save some money. Unfortunately I am not able to open the windows to bring in the fresh air because the guys are still working on our house (new siding and windows), and they took all the screens off of all of the windows already. Our ceiling fans give just enough air movement to keep it pleasant in here without AC and with windows closed.

Kristen – Like Chris, I used hard boiled eggs once in a while as a snack. And also like Chris I kept a yogurt for the evening which is always my toughest time. For another snack option, I use raw natural almonds. The ones I use are CVS Gold Emblem brand. 1 ounce is 14 grams of fat. Nuts and seeds are allowed on all cycles. For each friendly fat you are allowed 14g of fat. So I count 1 ounce of my almonds as 1 friendly fat. That is about 28 of these particular almonds and goes a long way if I break it down into several snacks, and I find them very satisfying.

I am not feeling well today, not sure why but I fear a lupus flare coming on. I went to the dentist and the post office but have felt tired all day even though I slept well. I plan to take it easy today. Have dinner plans tomorrow, and will strive for compliance.

Keep the momentum going team!!!

Scale went bonkers this morning again.....after several days in arow being stuck at same number I was suddenly 3 lbs heavier......discovered DH had moved the scale to mop the floor before I got up (he is 5:00 a.m. riser)....so moving the scale sends it up or like the other time down 3 lbs. I tried re-calibrating the scale but it still was way off....in the other direction.

I give up....I am going to buy a new scale. It is discouraging (even though I don't believe the actual number) to go up 3 lbs while following the diet basically to the letter no cheats yet and walking fast 1/2 hour each day....not missing any for 30 days! It's not the exact mumber but the trend up or down I need to be able to count on!

Good Morning,
off to a good start so far. Tracking and doing c1,d4, but adding in nuts. I am not getting enough calories in when i only eat lean chicken/turkey/fish and veggies. So being very careful and counting out almonds and ate peanut butter by the spoon yesterday to get me to dinner time without caving for carbs.

So I guess its a modified cycle 1, but certainly getting me off the sugar cravings!
Have a great day.

Kristen - I always had some hard boiled eggs on hand for snacks. I also used one of my yogurt servings as an evening snack, to help satisfy my after dinner sweet tooth. On my alternate days, I would use my extra carb servings as a "snack". For instance, I would have my yogurt/fruit smoothie as my breakfast, and then around 10:00 would have my oatmeal as a mid-morning snack.

Hope this helps! Good luck with C2!

I starting a new topic on this but meant to post it here. I can't figure out how to delete the other post. Anyway...

I am starting C2 tomorrow and looking for some snack ideas. What are your favorite go to snacks. Looking for something other than veggies or fruit.

Thanks :)

Happy Wednesday! So glad to see everyone posting! Welcome back Kathy! I know PT can be grueling; hope that is going well for you! And I hope that your MRI gives you some answers that you have been waiting so long to receive.

Beth - great job! I know several people who tracked their food while on the 17DD. Even though we don't "count" calories, it is very important to be sure that you are getting enough. I have found that now that I am closer to my goal weight that I actually do better on C2. The fluctuation of higher calorie days versus lower calorie days really seems to work for me. You know, you don't always have to go back to C1 while on this diet. Once you've gone through the 3 cycles at least once, you can go back and do whichever cycles work best for you.

Tammy - good luck! I know what you mean. I have struggled all year with compliance, and my weight had been stable, but has been more that what I was shooting for. With all that has happened to me in the last few weeks, I have not really been very compliant, but I am trying to still eat healthy and not go on a binge. I have stayed away from my trigger foods, and that has helped immensely. I certainly don't want to throw away all my hard work of the last year and a half. Good luck this weekend. I know that you can have a good time and still make good choices. I hope that you have some good options available to you at your parties. And don't forget, the scale is not the only measure of your success!

Diane - Hope you get your scale working. While it is not the only measure of success, I think that it is still important to have an accurate scale, just to make sure that things aren't getting away from you. I have a lot of problems with fluid retention, and have to weigh myself daily to make sure that my medications are working properly. I definitely don't recommend that for everyone, but I think that weekly weigh-ins are a necessary evil. I know what you mean about the carb fears. When on C3, I have to stay away from the optional Skinny Cow ice cream snacks. I do like my oatmeal, brown rice and baked potatoes. But anything sweet seems to trigger my sweet tooth! And for me, that can be very, very bad. That's not to say that I don't indulge once in a while. I think that you have to, on any diet, or you will break down and binge on something that you shouldn't. I try not to have any trigger foods in the house, which is much easier now that I am away from my saboteur husband! He was always trying to get me to break my diet.

Way to go MIA. Slow but steady is a good way to go! And the closer you get to your goal weight, it sometimes goes even slower than you would like, but keep up the good work. You will get there!

Have a great afternoon! I am enjoying this break in the weather! I wish we could have 70 degree temps all year long! It's definitely much nicer than 90-something with 90% humidity, which is more the norm here in Kentucky.

Sunny...congrats on C1D3! Keep strong!

This is my C2D13 (30 days on track...following the plan exactly as possible).
Scale still holding at 153.5 which is -9.5 since starting 17dd.

My highest weight ever was 165 and I had lost to 163 by stopping/starting C1 this spring.
Once I finally committed totally to doing 17dd the 9.5 loss is now history.
I seem to be at a plateau now while doing C2....but even though my losses seem to come slowly, they have been steady so I hope to lose to my first goal of 145 by Oct 1st. One day at a time!

Good Morning team mates! I have 3 days back on track, C1D3 for me.
Hubby cooked dinner last night and I HAD to eat it, even tho it was ground beef sadly, but it had lots of lovely veggies and was delicious, plus enjoyed some crunchy fresh veggies as desert.

Surprisingly am very low on the calories taken in. I am going to have to watch that. Do not want to starve myself, intentionally or otherwise. Busy work keeps me from eating enough now that I am cutting out processed and easy to grab foods.

So my goal is to establish a healthy habit these next few weeks of writing down my food intake in mini notebook and entering it in SP food journal. I know it takes 21 days to create a habit and I am on day 3.

Happy Humpday to us all. emoticon

Diane – I agree that Medifast wouldn’t be for me…and I can’t afford to lose any hair either. My hair is baby fine and poker straight, oh, and thin (the only part of me that is this is something that we don’t want thin.). My “fear of carbs” continues even though I have been through several cycles. But yes, we do need to add in those carbs in order to follow the diet as written, and that is what works. I too like sweet potatoes and enjoy them when indicated by the cycle. I had to train myself not to be a slave to the scale. I notice my progress by the way my clothes fit and how I feel in general. When I deviate from the diet I later feel like I have almost poisoned myself. But yet sometimes my resistance muscles are weak and I cave on the sweets. Today however is a great day.

Kathymag - Please let us know how the MRI turns out. Wishing you the best.

Mia – Yay for you…losing and content! That is a great combination. When I am fully compliant I feel the same. But lately my lapses have had a negative impact on me is so many areas…including at the scale! You provided great insights into your various diet experiences here on your post and on your excellent blog as well. I encourage others here to read your blog…. It is great.

I am having a very healthy compliant day today. What I need to do is string enough of these days together to make a true difference. It seems that l tend to take 2 steps forward and 1 step back lately. I get frustrated with myself because I know that when I am compliant I see significant progress. So I am celebrating my recent compliance and committing to keeping it up through Friday. Social events on Saturday (a graduation party for my cousins daughter)and Sunday (an anniversary party for some church friends) will be challenging again…not that I go overboard….I don’t…I just seem to deviate enough to stall the scale.

Good luck with the MRI. and, Thanks for scale advice, Kathy....I think you are right about wasting money on a new scale...DH thinks it could be battery...but this scale is so old you can't change the battery.....no opening to do it..LOL!

I did some reading, however, and learned how to "re-calibrate" this model. So tomorrow I will be more confident in the weight and if I move it getting on again....I will try re-calibration right away. Guessing it is best not to jiggle it too much and to leave it in same spot.

YUM...I had to go back and look at the book again after having a medium sweet potato at the end of my lunch! It felt like dessert as I haven't had anything sweet for 29 days! Good news is, YES, it is on the list of C2 foods to have on the alternating carb days! I won't do it every time though as I am afraid of kicking in my carb addiction and it took too long to get over it....so not worth the risk at this point in my journey! It's really tough for me to add in carbs, even brown rice on these alternating days....my fear factor.....but I am doing it because I believe what the book says and know the process works!

Happy 17dd everyone whichever cycle you are in!

All scales will do that - don't waste your money, girl.......unfortunately, while scales give a good idea of what's going on - they really are not our best barometers. The way we feel, the way our clothes fit, the compliments that start coming in......those are the true indicators!!

Sounds like your scale was happy to be back home in its own spot....

Yikes....I am fed up with my scale! I got on and weighed 153.5
Then, (because I had wiggled) I got back on and it said 152
Then I got back on and it said 154
Then I picked it up and took it to another room and I weighed in at 157!
Putting it back in normal spot it was back at 153

Guess it really is time for a new scale! This one is not giving me true readings.....sigh.

Mia....and just how long did those cave men live anyway? Not sure what they ate was so great for "man"... That's what I kid my son about when he goes on the cave man diet....and I ask would he like to walk like they did too...LOL! We all have likely tried many diets a lot less healthy than this one we are on now...I know I have! Congrats on the 1.4 lb weight loss!

I'm down another 1.4 pounds in the last week -- slow but steady, and feeling content most of the time with the diet -- oops! -- I mean my healthy eating habits emoticon

I tried Medifast once and all I can say is the food was terrible (mostly packets of freeze-dried stuff) and filled with chemicals and lots of soy, but It is easy and fast, and eliminates the need to make choices. And if someone can stick with it they will definitely lose weight. I couldn't stick with it.

The Zone Diet was the most difficult one I tried, I felt like I needed to hire a scientist when trying to figure out how many "blocks" I needed in a day and then measuring "blocks" and keeping track of "blocks." Being allowed to have a glass of wine was nice, but only if I had cottage cheese along with it (blechh). I gave the Keto Diet a whirl -- it was ultra-low-carb and required you to be in a state of ketosis, but even a couple of carb grams too many would boot you out and it would take five days to get back in. I tried the Paleo diet and actually GAINED weight (butter! avocado! nuts!) and I felt like all I did in my spare time was cook! I think our Paleo ancestors had more time to hunt and gather than I did...

Hope everyone has a great week!

Tammy...I have been reading online postings from people who have used Medifast. A few themes seem to run through the various threads ie; the meals and shakes are not very tasty or satisfying, several people lost weight and also lost hair (I can't afford to lose hair...mine is too thin already) and lastly, it seems many people have lost and quickly regain when they go off the shakes and bars and return to regular food. Medifast has a maintenance program but it is all expense so many people decide to skip that part or only do it for a short time and then relapse to old eating habits. I know from old Slimfast days that I did not learn better eating habits from drinking a shake for lunch every day.....but then I was also told to not eat protein, eat all the carbs you can because "you will burn carbs off faster"....sigh. It took me a long time to get over that idea.

Several people are as committed to the Medifast program as we are to 17dd and I think that is important...to have faith in what you commit to doing. I believe our choice to do 17dd is healthier for our bodies.

I enjoyed reading your comments about diet, loss, etc.....we certainly are becoming a strange society where every word is subject to PC...LOL! My Sis is looking for a job and the "unemployment office" last I knew was too negative so changed to "job services" but no, it is now "workforce center".....until someone decides to take the word "work" out of it because it has a negative connotation...LOL!

Beth – Happy birthday a little late! Your goal is so well within your reach I am sure you will get there with compliant cycles. I agree with what Chris said about reading our posts (on July 8 and 9) about going back to C1. My guess is you know this already and will probably just do a few C1 days and then get back to your regular cycle, right? Good luck with your iPad. My son has one which I use from time to time. I like it a lot. Hope to see more posts now that you have the iPad.

Diane – I am so with you on your comments about how politically incorrect the word “diet” is now. What a shame in my opinion. What we eat is our diet. I don’t think of it as a dirty word or a put down, but many people today do. Our 17 Day Diet is a healthy wise plan that results in weight loss. And, oh yes, I have also been chastised a bit for using the word “loss” when speaking of weight loss because “loss” was said to imply something negative as in “sorry for you loss.” I apologized and said, “sorry, that is how I talk… I didn’t mean to offend” when I congratulated someone on a great (weight) loss! Really, I am happy to be a loser if it means a weight loss. Now some of the folks, instead of using the word “loss” are saying things like “getting rid of weight, kicking weight to the curb, shedding pounds”…..but they won’t say “losing weight. “ It is actually kind of funny if it wasn’t so ridiculous. When I read your post I wanted to send you a goodie (but I don’t think you have a spark page) because I just agree with you so much…a rose is a rose is a rose…a diet is a diet is a diet…. a loss is a loss is a loss. Well, about that Medifast loss….it makes me rethink my decision, but I know I won’t do it…at least not now. What is so inviting is that it is such a fast loss…. but I am certain I couldn’t afford it anyway….so I will just stick to the healthy principles of the 17 Day Diet.

Chris – Love your new picture. You look so happy and relaxed! I checked out the recipe you linked…looks delicious. Are you thinking of adding more veggies and cutting back on the cheese in order to make it more compliant? That was my first reaction. Let me know what else you were thinking of doing to increase its compliance. You’ll really be cooking girlfriend now that you are all spiced up! Give your mom a hug from your spark friend Tammy. How I wish I still had my mom who died 24 years ago at age 62.

I am having a wonderful normal routine day today, a day when I have been pretty much able to do whatever I wanted (except I did have to run to the bank to get some $$ for the guys who are working on my house). Yesterday I went to a picnic at a friend’s home and had a blast, even stayed mostly compliant. We had such a wonderful mix of folks there, ranging in age from 5 to about 75, with delightful intergenerational interactions. The food there was a mix of mostly compliant (veggie tray, stuffed cabbage, shrimp cocktail which was my contribution, and fresh fruit salad) and definitely not compliant (sweets, pasta salad, etc.). Oddly enough, I was not even tempted by the sweets (cookies, pies, etc.) or the drinks which were also flowing. I drank two 20 oz bottles of water while most other adults were have “adult beverages.” So I am hoping for no gain, and maybe a loss when I weigh in again.

Wow....just had a call from SIL about someone at her work (been on leave since May 1) who stopped by to say hello and show off over 100 lbs of weight lost in less than 3 months on Medfast.
I never personally knew anyone to lose that much weight that fast! I know this lady and am sure (as my SIL stated) I would not recognize her! I am amazed! She is 8 lbs from goal of weighing just 100 lbs. That low may be too thin but good for her if that is her goal! I am happy for her.

Not truly second guessing my choice not to do Medfast but my -9.5 lbs seems mighty small in comparison...LOL!
Oh well, to keep on track, I have another batch of Dr Mikes soup on the stove. Going to add a bay leaf for added flavor this time around.....and did add a second can of diced tomatoes to the crushed one called for.....a bit more tomato flavor helps some already....I use low sodium broth and no salt so do need flavor from something...LOL!

C2D11: 153.5 holding for the second day! Today is my clean eating day after carbs yesterday.
Can hardly wait for the scale to get below 150 now that I am edging closer!

Kathy, Tammy, Beth & Chris....hope I didn't leave anyone out....thanks to all of you for your support! This is such a nice team! All connected through this SP site and the 17dd.

So many people do not "get" this 17 "diet"....they don't like the word "diet" as name for what we are all doing which is learning to eat healthier for life. I tripped up following my illness and just reverted to food for comfort....hope this time around I can be stronger for the long haul. I want to be healthier, live longer (in the best health I can be in at every age)! That is my main purpose in getting back on the wagon with our son's wedding in October as the added boost to get back up on that wagon!

It is definitely tougher to start over, tougher to remain strong, harder to kick the sugar/carb cravings......I say this to help all the team not to follow in my past steps! Maintainance took as much planning as all the other cycles getting to that point...I did it well for almost 2yrs but once I quit weighing, quit planning my meals....just eating what I thought was mostly healthy...it was such a slippery slope!

I feel like so many of my friends have become "politically correct" and frown if I say the word diet.....as in "I am doing the 17dd". I lose them immediately. But, if I say I am doing my healthy eating plan...I hear..oh, that's wonderful....what are you eating/doing? The word "diet" does not bother me at all.....a rose is a rose, no matter what I call it, LOL. Depending who I am eating with I say I'll have this salad instead of fries, etc....because it's on my diet or it's on my healthy eating plan. Just hoping it truly is a life plan this time!

Good morning! I had a pretty good weekend. I was able to go to the Dollar Tree and Big Lots and buy a lot of spices to replenish those that I had to leave behind. There are still a lot that I would like to have, but I will eventually get mine back, hopefully not too far in the future. It has been a struggle getting adjusted to living at my mom's, but after 4 weeks (I cannot BELIEVE it has already been that long!) things are finally starting to go more smoothly. I have lots of fresh zucchini from my DD's garden, and I am going to try out some new recipes this week. A friend of mine sent me one for a zucchini pizza casserole which I can't wait to try. Here is the link to the recipe. www.laurenslatest.com/zucchini-pizza

I'll have to change some things to make it 17DD compliant, but it shouldn't be too difficult to substitute some of the ingredients.

SUNNYBR - First of all, Happy Belated Birthday! Not sure where you are on your cycles, but you may want to look at Tammy's and my posts from last week with regard to starting over on C1. Just want you to be aware that just because you ate some things over the weekend that are not 17DD compliant, that you should not start over with C1D1 every time you do that. If you gain 5 pounds or more, then you can do a couple of days of C1 to get back on track, but you should then continue on with whatever cycle you were on previously. I don't want to sound "preachy" but it really does work better if you just keep going. Everyone has days when they go off plan, that is a part of life. Birthdays, holidays, etc are always going to be there, and learning to move forward is one of the biggest lessons that I have learned from this plan. Ok... I'll get off my soapbox now.

Diane - You are doing great! I never considered Medifast, but I had considered things like Nutrasystem or Jenny Craig; just for convenience sake. But they are both so very expensive, and I felt like those plans do not really teach you how to live in the "real" world. Too many times I have seen people go on those diets, only to gain everything back as soon as they start eating real food again. That is why I love the 17DD so much. It has taught me how to eat healthy and it's really not all that difficult to follow, if you plan ahead. Plus, I was never hungry. The meals in the book are fairly simple to make and very delicious. And I have learned to re-make some of my favorite dishes as much healthier versions! To me, it's not a diet, but a new way of looking at food and eating... a lifestyle change!

Hope everyone has a great week. I am looking forward to the break in the hot weather! Who can complain about a few days of 70 degree temperatures in the middle of July!

Good Monday Morning all - I am at work and cannot really post often, but am happy to start a fresh week with good intentions and a plan.

Starting C1D1 over again to get real. Had my 55th birthday Friday and splurged pretty much all weekend long, cake, burger, fries, lots of delicious salads too with fruit as well. Now I need to get the sugar monkey off my back - AGAIN!

So have a great week one and all. I received an IPad from my kids, so hope to start posting in the evenings when I have finally stopped my busy day. My new plan is to write down my food in a small notebook to keep honest and consistent.

:)

Diane - I was interested in Medifast at one time just based on some TV commercials I saw. I don't think it would be for me either however. It was tempting because it seemed like it didn't require a lot of prep and planning, but I don't think my lifestyle with all of my social engagements, etc. would work long-term with that program. I much prefer eating regular healthy food and working it into the life I live.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!!!

Monday here we come.

Thanks Tammy for your encouragement.....we were right about that sodium. After 3 days of holding at 155 and that salty food....yesterday I drank more water and green tea, plus a bit more walking.....the scale said 153.5 this morning....a new low point for me on this weight loss journey!

DD wanted me to do Medifast (thought I would have quicker results) but after reading about it...I knew it was NOT for me. I can stick to this healthy eating plan because I know from past experience it works and I (for the most part) don't feel deprived and enjoy the foods. Certainly more than I would prefab bars/shakes. Just not for me!

Day 27 of my healthy streak!! Hoping for many more before October.....have a peaceful Sunday all, Diane

Usually PT is a real blessing. .... yesterday - not so much! !! So looking forward to Thursday so I can finally get some answers! !

Figured out one thing I had forgotten about tho. .... gluten sensitivity! !! Geeeeeeeeesh! ! I had a chicken pasta salad last night. ... and all day today, I've been paying for that error! !! Stern reminder indeed! ! Yikes! !

Just gave Ms. Kolie her bath. .... about my limit for today. ...

She is shedding big time - I hope that's because we've moved into summer! !!

Newday - Sorry to hear about your pain keeping you up at night. There is nothing worse than not being well rested. But Woo Hoo on being down 8 pounds!!!! Asian food always makes me retain water. Good idea to drink more water!

Kathymag - Very glad to hear from you. Have been wondering how you are doing. Please let us know how you do after the MRI.

Noe - I am like you in that the lemon water sets the tone for my day. I really like it, and I feel good taking the time to enjoy it first thing every morning. Good for you for watching those pounds and working to get rid of them again.

Diane - You have a good attitude. And that is a key component to success, as we all well know. Congrats on the progress you have made in a year. I feel the same way.

Chris - I'll bet you do miss that baby granddaughter of yours. You are so blessed to see so much of her.

I am doing well and "relatively" on track. Went to a Mexican restaurant yesterday with a friend. Had shrimp fajitas with one tortilla and a bit of rice and beans. Made me feel bloated an uncomfortable. Will stick with just the fajita mix next time. And wow was it delicious!

Celebrated a friend's 80th birthday today with her family at an Italian restaurant and was very worried about what would be served. But, as it turns out, it was a buffet with a mix of high carb Italian dishes and some healthy choices as well. I enjoyed the spinach chicken soup.....so good I could have made a meal of just that, but also had baked chicken and a huge serving of steamed mixed veggies...very good too. For dessert they served mini pastries along with the birthday cake, and yes I had some of both. But I am ok with this since my calories for the day were low and remarkably this did not trigger any carb cravings. So this is very good for me.

I lead a pretty social life, sometimes more social than others, but this busy week has brought to light for me the need to mix my compliance with the reality that is my life. So I am feeling pretty good right now. Which brings me to tomorrow....a picnic at a friend's home. I am taking a shrimp ring so I know at least that will be compliant....and I will do my best there. Then luckily, the next four days should be back to my healthy compliant routine (as near as I can tell at this point).

Have a blessed Sunday everyone.

On track as much as I can be with 3rd night of restless sleep. Pain issues wake me and "thinking too much" helps keep me awake...sigh. Not wanting to get into pattern as it is no fun and will also interfere with wgt loss!

C2D9: Day 3 at same lower weight so am officially claiming my -8 lbs! Going to go for a bit more exercise today hoping to kick that scale downward again! May be retaining some fluids due to my Asian lunch yesterday...it was my added calorie/carb day so could not resist at Mall of America. Will drink more water and green tea to flush out that sodium from my body!

Have a happy, healthy Saturday all....go 17dd team!

Enjoying my hot lemon H20 this morning! Cut the left over up for lemonade in the afternoon and cut up tiny lemon rinds to freshen up the disposal. Not wasting a bit of that 1/2 lemon. As long as my mornings start off with that lemon I'm good. I think that has been a key to my maintaining these past few weeks. I noticed a couple lbs creep up recently because I've had above the 3 favorite meals during the week. I think the 17dd rule is at 5 lbs up time to hop back on a cycle to keep that at bay.
So here I go again. Book says go back on favorite cycle, so I'm going to go back to cycle 3 and see if the 5 lbs go away on that.
Wish me luck! and all the best back to you !

Chris, Sassy, Tammy...thanks for the supportive comments!

Team.....It is so helpful to read about your experiences, too....and to know all of us are doing this 17dd "together" so to speak. I know each of you understands about losses, gains or those plateau's...LOL. I empathize with each of your victories and small setbacks, too. I remember last time on 17dd when life events/stresses would surround me and how good it was to have others dealing with some of the same challenges along the 17dd pathway. One day at a time.

So glad to be on day 25 this morning...yeah! That day 1 was so much harder to begin this time.....hope to remember how daunting it felt after my big re-gain....and not ever gain so much weight back again....sigh.

After reflecting this rainy morning, I am very thankful to be healthier than this time last summer! I was so exhausted and had given up on ever feeling "normal" again.....hoping I will someday be able to say I am back to "as normal as I get", LOL!

Have a great July 11th everybody!

NSV's are also one of my biggest motivators! More energy, looser fitting clothes are just a couple! Way to go Diane and Sassy!!!

emoticon job Tammy! Passing up on dessert is HUGE!! Especially when it is free, or included with your meal. I always have a very hard time with that. But it is much easier nowadays after having the 17DD in my life for the past year and a half. It has definitely been a lifestyle change and not a DIET!!!

I'm still doing fine. Missing my granddaughter though. My DD is away with her right now, and it will be 5 days without getting to see her. That is the longest I have gone since she was born, and I am having baby withdrawal!!! I can't wait until they come back on Sunday.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday and a super weekend!!

Diane – There is something so very reinforcing about being able to get rid of our larger sized clothing. Woo Hoo and keep up the great work.

Sassy - Celebrate those NSVs. They really do mean something.

Chris - You are always such a good cheerleader on this team!!! I salute you!

I am back from the banquet and did well. The choices were healthy though I know very high in sodium just because they are prepared in a restaurant. I enjoyed the folks I sat with and gave my dessert to my DS who was there with me (this banquet was for an organization he is involved with). Glad this day is over though as I am pretty tired now.

Have a fab Friday friends!!

The NSV's are some of the greatest motivators to me. Not having a lot of weight to lose in the first place, and with the stupid scale not wanting to cooperate at all for days on end, I have to rely on inches lost and clothes too loose for my motivation. So emoticon to you Diane. I know how great that feels when not only do you notice that your clothes are too big, but your husband or significant other does too. I went through that a few years ago too - got rid of all my 14's, 12's, and even some 10's. Then my weight went back up and I refused to buy any more clothes so I had been living in one pair of size 10 jeans (they had a lot of stretch) and a lot of stretch pants until my more recent 5 lb loss (lots of inches went too) when my husband told me to get rid of those baggy, saggy jeans (my 10's). So away they went and I have three pair of 8's and that's where I'll stay until I get back into all the 6's I have stashed away. Personally, I refuse to save any "big" clothes because I just don't want to go back "there". For me, it's too easy to think the clothes are there for me to fit into again. I don't want to fit into them again, EVER, so off to Goodwill they go when I outgrow them. I have one pair of 14's that I saved because I want to be able to look at them and remember where I was.

I am back on track and it feels good and I feel clean again. I have cleared out the cobwebs that were clogging up my head and my heart. The workouts have helped immensely in the stress department, even though I am seeing a slight increase on the scale. But that always happens to me when I start a workout because my muscles hold water for a week or two before they release it. But the energy and the stress relief the exercise affords me is worth more than what any stinking scale says, and that is also one of my NSV's.

Hope you ladies have a great day. I'm off to find me some decent shoes for this martial arts workout I'm doing. My everyday runners aren't cutting it because they don't offer enough ankle or foot support and my foot has a tendency to roll during fast movement.

C2D7: Weight down 1lb today.
Ate more calories and some good carbs yesterday because it was the day to do that....also made sure to drink some water....combo worked to bring the scale in right direction...down! Today is my "clean" eating day. No added carbs.

Cleaning closet and organizing today. 3yrs ago after weight lost, I got rid of all my 12/14 sizes and only 8/10's remained. When I gained I had to buy some 12's and then finally gave in and got 3 pairs of 14's again!

Today am still in size 12 (loose waist and DH says baggy butt). Good news is no more need to wear the few back up 14's in my closet...yeah! Will put them in basement closet with my 8's!
I can get into some of my 10 pants but not as comfortably and I won't wear them at this point.
What a difference -8 lbs can make in my clothes and in my energy level, too! All good!

Go team...we can do this!!

A quick check in for me tonight before I head off to bed. I did fine today, especially in anticipation of tomorrow night's banquet.

Sassy - Your plan sounds reasonable. With all you have going on, moving through the cycles is likely a very healthy move....sticking too long on C1 might actually be counter-productive. Please take good care of yourself.

Chris - Thanks for affirming my suggestions about the cycles. When I first started the 17DD Lori (Loribug) stressed to me the importance of living life AND moving through the cycles. It was a good lesson for me to learn. You will gradually build up a stock of your favorite spices I am sure. Maybe start with the inexpensive ones and buy one a week or so.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Tammy and Dog Walker: Thank you so much for the input about restarting Cycle 1. My mini goal in restarting Cycle 1 was to get back to where I was weight wise when I fell back into bad eating habits and that is 135.8. My plan is then to go to Cycle 2 no matter what day it is. Since I am working out again, I am really starting to fuel up on much needed protein since it can be ate unlimited. That is a mind-set I have to get into again - eating protein and veggies unlimited and not just at set times. I am on Day 2 again and will hopefully be on to Cycle 2 by next Monday.

Thank you again for your honest feedback and input.

Tammy - emoticon emoticon You definitely should not keep starting C1 over and over without going through the other cycles. If after a "bad" weekend or couple of days, you are up 5 pounds, then you can do C1 for a couple of days to get back on track, but you should then resume whatever cycle you were on and finish it out. I have been through all the cycles many times, and C1 is actually the least effective now that I am so close to my goal weight. I think it is because I eat too few calories while on it, and my body goes into "starvation" mode. I have actually found that I will lose more weight on C2 and even C3.

I am doing pretty well, back up a couple of pounds, but that is from all the eating out I have been doing lately. I am determined to get back into my routine and cook more at home, but it is difficult as all my cookware/spices etc., are at the other house, and at this point, I do not want to go back for anything else until the courts have intervened. And I do not have the funds right now to go out and buy all new spices, etc. It's very frustrating! But I am hanging in there!

Happy Humpday Everyone!!

C2D6: scale UP 1/2 lb even with yesterday being my "no carb" day.....I know from past time on 17dd that scale does bounce up (for what seems like no reason) but it does NOT rev up my engines like the days it goes down or stays down, LOL! I am following the diet completely, thus far, so will hang in there and wait for scale to go back down. Maybe needed more water yesterday as I did 2 walks instead of one?

Speaking of walks...it is time to hit it!
Have a great day all!!

Sassy and Miamojo – I want to gently remind you that returning to C1 without completing the other cycles in not recommended. I felt the same as you when I first came to the 17DD. However the ladies on this team urged me not to do so….for a multitude of reasons. For one thing, no one has a perfect day or a perfect week or a perfect life….There will always be things that crop up and side track us, but I learned from this team to just keep on following the cycles the way Dr. Moreno wrote the diet. It is that systematic approach that is said to meet with the most success and is said to be the best for your body…for the very reason you mentioned…if we don’t keep moving on, we’d never get out of C1. C2 is an important cycle as any because it helps reset the metabolism and helps prevent plateaus. C3 also is important as it gives us 17 days to reintroduce the foods that will ultimately be on our plan when we reach goal. Remember, if you don’t reach your goal after one round of the C1, C2, and C3, then you return to C1 and go on till you reach your goal. (Another reason to move on through the cycles is thinking that you can just restart C1 after a slip-up or two, could actually be sabotaging your compliance on C1.)

Diane - Good idea to have the soup on hand. You won’t be sorry. I avoid salt as much as I can. I learned to cook without salt many years ago when my dad lived here for a while and was on a very restricted diet due to being on hemodialysis. As a result I got accustomed to little or no salt in my food.

Went to a dinner meeting for one of my service organizations tonight. At this one we are able to order from the menu. I enjoyed a grilled chicken salad….asked for fat free dressing on the side, but really didn’t even use much dressing. The salad was very good without the dressing. I have quite a few food challenges coming my way this week…a banquet on Thursday for a group my son is involved with…but it is buffet style and I am sure I will find some healthy choices there…an out-of-town friend is coming here on Friday for the day so I know that will involve at least one restaurant meal….a birthday party for an 80 year old church friend on Saturday (no idea what will be served there)….and a picnic with another group of church friends on Sunday….I will take something healthy to that as my contribution. With all of these events (and more to come) I will follow the 17DD principles and enjoy the socialization rather than focusing on the food. Luckily most places have some type of healthy veggies available.

Made the chicken veggie soup recipe. Pretty "bland" but I did not add the salt it said to add.
Will see tomorrow about some other spices I can add when I reheat it for lunch. Going to keep two portions in frig and two in freezer....so I don't get sick of eating it...LOL. DH is not fond of veggies in general but won't touch cabbage with a ten foot pole so this will all be mine for four meals. I hate cooking so will be great heat and eat alternative.

Today now that the nest is wide open I can see babies are older than I thought. Very tiny but eyes are open and all furry...so evidently at this point are able to make it without mother rabbit. Today they have been leaving the nest and only two remain, We think now mom maybe opened up the nest to encourage them to leave and that is why all of a sudden we saw them! Rain, hail and today's wind likely encouraged them to move on...

Hi Team!

I too am back on Cycle One; just feel I need the "regimentation" right now due to a few other challenges I'm dealing with. Weight is coming off slowly, but the scale is headed in the right direction. Weekly weigh-ins are working better for me. Glad to see everyone sticking it out and making changes as needed. Checking in with you and tracking my food keeps me focused on success!

Hi Ladies: I'm still here. I think I am going to be stuck in Cycle 1 world forever LOL. I just keep going back to it because I keep stress eating out of plan for a few days at a time when my sleep is being interrupted. Still keeping vigil over Granny so I go 24 - 36 hours with little to no sleep and just eating what is on hand instead of preparing for the days or meals. Hard to even get to the grocery store. I've been staying on Fridays and Sundays and it takes days for my body rhythm to get back in sync and me to get back on track. But I'm not quitting and even managed to get my workout in this morning. So I may be stuck on Cycle 1 for a while, but I'm not going to let myself get unstuck from trying to achieve my goals.

I am so proud of everyone and all the encouragement you give me and each other.

Have a blessed day,

C2D 5: Holding new lowest wgt number! Even with my increased "good carbs" yesterday.

Today is my "clean" accelerate day. Already miss that power cookie! But will have one tomorrow. All good.

Baby bunnies had a rough early evening.....pouring rain, some hail and then cooler over night temps after it cleared. I only see 3 sets of ears this morning. After the rain, their nest was mostly washed out and they looked like drowned rats.... (did some reading which said mom only comes twice to feed them once early night and once before dawn) DH said to leave them for mom to care for which was hard to do but we saw mom come back to feed them and after she left it was evident she had pushed more nest up around them again. Mother Nature in action. Hope they make it! This morning they at least look dry!

Diane – Yum…adding brown rice to scrambled eggs. Woo hoo on your loss. You are doing terrific. I bet you do feel good. I too had “carb anxiety” at first when it came to adding the healthy carbs back. But as you can see, the scale goes down. And that sure is motivating! How cute about the baby bunnies. I am sure they are adorable.

I ran some errands this morning and will be back out running around later this afternoon. I am on track today and play to keep it that way. A few minor stressors going on right now but nothing I can’t handle. I guess life is never really stress free.

Just had to share...precious newborn baby rabbits in nest in our flower garden this morning as we headed out for our walk. Not there yesterday when DH watered. We counted four sets of ears but they are wiggly and trying to be on bottom of the heap so could be more under the top ones...LOL! I know they eat a lot of plants/flowers etc...but are so cute I don't care..... emoticon

C2D4: down 1 more lb this morning to 155.5! Feels so good!

Today is my carb added day. Power cookie and yogurt for breakfast. Will add 1/2cup brown rice to my egg scramble for lunch!

It's hard to make myself add these carbs in (I like eating them, but scared about tipping my cravings and /or the scale upward).....but seeing scale go down keeps me motivated to follow the book!

I have been sure to get in my green tea and sometimes an extra cup if I start getting hungry at odd times of day. That and my daily walks are only extras I am doing because of my older age and heart meds which keep my metabolism lower than low.
If I can lose weight with those issues....anyone can, on this 17dd....go team!!
