emoticon We started this on 9/1so I have to know what 50 point goodie you would like to see on your page before 10/1(we lose our team points every month if we don't use them).
Please email me if you think you deserve one because you accomplished what you set out to do.
Honestly, I blew it, but I did exercise more this month than I would have without this challenge. I'm still rebounding every day, but now that I'm back on cycle 1 I think it's time to start doing the Wii every day again.

Just send me a Sparkmessage before 10/1

I think the first post on this thread says our goal is Monday-Sunday?

I'll be Wii-ing it all week after work (more fun to play a video game!), that's today through Friday; Saturday and Sunday I'll either Wii or use my WATP tape. I've been doing 30 minutes per day - not too shabby!

I must say i did not join the challenge this week. Seems like it was one of those weeks that everything you thought you would do didn't go as planned. So onto another week.

Forgot to check in and report my exercise for last week but it's just as well - I kept the walking up but that was about it. Got a cold about halfway through the week, was on vacation with my fella in beautiful Des Moines, IA - he was at conferences and I was trying to find something to do in beautiful Des Moines. But the cold began to kick my keester and I couldn't stay on track.

This week won't be much better as the cold has progressed and I keep getting a fever but I think it's about ran it's course. So be prepared for next week - I'm going to set me some lofty goals!

I did all seven days! Sunday was the biggest struggle, b/c it's usually my "rest" day, but I did a light 40 minute work out. Funny how these challenges can motivate you!

I confess that I couldn't do all 7 days, but 5 is better than none! I even bought a Dance Dance pad for my Wii Walk It out and am getting into decorating my island.

This week my Reboundair (rebounder) and incumbent bike will be delivered so on the days that I can't walk due to my bad leg, I can use the bike. I have gardening to do also so every day will be something for at least 17 minutes.

swam 16 laps and other aqua exercise for 75 minutes.

was planning 14 laps but someone told me he did 32 two times. each 32 is a mile. so i asked if he meant 32 round trips or one ways. he said one way is a lap. so i have been counting round trips. so i did 16 round trips. which equals, who would have thunk it.... 1 mile. wow.

but now pool is closed for a week of maintenance. was supposed to go upstate and visit a friend but does not seem to be a happening thing. so i have to figure something out for this week. there is another pool about 30 minutes away. not sure what it is like.

a friend has a small pool in her yard but she said temp is only 70.

i could do the dvd's. guess i will have to.

so, i did not do what i said i would this week, but i did do something every single day.

I did not meet my exercise goal... not even close. I would like to blame it on that I have been getting increasingly more sick over the past few days, but really I had blown it before that. I will do better this week. Mon thru fri I will walk for 30 min around my neighborhood, and I will get to the gym 3 times before next sunday for intense cardio on the eliptical and weight training.

No goodies for me for the past week - I think I over commited. The Firm workout kicked my tush! I did walk daily but didn't do the other exercising I wanted to as I really need to change up because I'm not losing a lot of inches.

So onward and upward this week!

Will do 30 minutes of walking each day. Monday-Wednesday-Friday will add 15 minutes elliptical. Tues-Thurs-Sat The Firm!

Good luck everyone! We can do this!

Hey everyone! Don't forget to send me a sparkmessage tomorrow if you followed your exercise regime 100%. We're on the honor system. Just put "exercise" and the 5 - 10 point goodie you want in the subject line.

For example: "exercise - clapping"

Or, if you think you can keep going, you can save your points and get a 50 point one for 4 weeks compliant (your choice of goodie). I'll remind you at the end of 4 weeks to let me know if you did it for a month.

Tonight I did 35 minutes on Walk it Out
I burned 173 calories
I did 5703 steps
and walked 1.5 miles.

It felt great...now can anyone tell me how to get more songs on that thing? It is getting a little boring with the same songs playing over and over

Did 13 pool laps, whoo whoo. and other exercises in the pool including walking.

way to go all you exercisers.

special shout out to gabby. i know how easy it would be to just say "manana" when you are so pooped after a frustrating day/experience. but, you did not do that. way to go.

i'm going to do some floor stretches as i am really feeling cramped etc. did not take tylenol and advil this morning. will take it now with my green tea.

i still want to check out that other dvd i have from library.

if i do... that would be the first time i really did a good double workout.

9/10 - 12 mile bike ride (takes us all day, lol)
9/11 - tidepool hike

Yesterday I really didn't feel like exercising. I accompanied my DH to the doctor and then argued with a car mechanic about a $300.00 over charge , then went food shopping. I was pooped, but last night I thought of you all and turned on my Wii and forced myself to do it. I really worked up a sweat. emoticon

Did 3 laps before class started. Class had too much jumping, so I modified, but then announcement that pool was closing right after class (and my back and knee were telling me "danger- sharp pains" so I put my snorkel back on and got brave and shared a lane with someone in fast lanes. Got my laps done plus practiced new technique. (One of my goals is to teach myself to swim properly- so downloaded a program for the computer. Seems if i swim correctly, it will not hurt my back or knee.)

Hey Gabby...you can just hold it too lol. That's what I do because mine keeps falling out of my pocket, so I hold the nunchuck in my left hand and the controller in my right lol. I hate that little black cloud!!!!

I walked it out today - yay! It was a little frustrating/comical because you have to put the numchuk in a pocket, but my pants were too big {{smile}}, so it wasn't recording my steps. My WiMi just kept stand there with a black cloud over her head while I was stepping away! I had to dig through my dresser until I found an old pair of shorts that were tighter. She finally started to move emoticon I think I'm going to invest in a Dance/Dance controller so I don't have to worry about the numchuk!

Got my 45 minute walk in this morning. Hopefully I'll get to Curves today and do my workout.

I did get to Curves and got my workout done this afternoon. emoticon Feeling pretty good about the whole day although my kitchen floor still remains unmopped. Oh well, it'll still be there tomorrow.

I did all I had planned today - 30 minutes of Zumba - or at least attempting to Zumba, my hips just don't move like the instructors. I did the Firm Express but am not sure how much I can actually do because they move so fast before teaching you the moves. I think I'll watch it on my non-Firm days and see if I can get more familiar. Then did my 30 minutes of walking. It's so nice here right now in the evening it's hard not to walk.

I also pulled weeds and went to Menards and shopped for retaining wall block. Walking around Menards should count for something because I couldn't find a soul to help me.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you imagine. ~Henry David Thoreau

Congrats to everyone who got in some exercise today. Double Congrats to those who achieved their goals.

I am copying and pasting mine here with updates.

Monday: 11 laps in pool am/ try new library dvd chair dancing
(Did not make it to pool :(, but did the chair dancing dvd- as silly as it sounds it was very difficult for me so it's a keeper., i also sat on my exercise bike upstairs (just getting up the stairs is exercise) and did about 20 revolutions. i am not sure that it is ok to do with my knee as it is. thinking not, but it sure was good to at least get my body on it.)

Tuesday: Walk with friend to and in Animal Adoption place am/ try new library dvd chair aerobics for everyone
(my friend cancelled so will do the 11 laps tomorrow instead)

Wednesday: 5 laps in pool and new pool class am/ dvd tai chi pm
Thursday: 12 laps on pool am/ dvd chair dancing (if it is good) pm
Friday: 6 laps in pool and pool class am/ dvd chair aerobics (if it is good) pm
Saturday: the free online walking video am/ off in pm
Sunday: 12 laps in pool am/ tai chi video pm

Wow, I didn't realize that even 17 minutes would be too much for me. I could only handle 12 in the morning and had to go back and do the rest a few hours later. If it weren't for this challenge, I wouldn't bother so thank you all for joining me.

Count me in too! Just got back Saturday from 2 weeks of vacation with not a lot of exercise. I also started Round 2 yesterday and am soooo happy to report that I didnt gain an ounce during my vacation and Cycle 3!! That is a HUGE accomplishment for me!!! I didnt lose any weight in the month of August, but I am okay with that. So happy to be back to Cycle 1!!

Monday: walked 5.6 miles on Wii (99 minutes) - done
Tuesday: Boot Camp for 60 min
Wednesday: Wii for 60 min
Thursday: Wii for 60 min
Friday: Wii for 60 min
Saturday: Wii for 90 min
Sunday: Wii for 90 min

I want to get back to using my eliptical too this week, even if for just 10 minutes and gradually increasing time.

Progress to Date
Round 1: C1-15 lbs, C2-5 lbs, C3: 0 lbs (while on 3 weeks vacation!!) = 20 lbs
Round 2: C1-8 lbs & still losing

I have fallen off the exercise wagon. Time to hop back on!! Heat makes me lazy, but these Ozark Mountains are cooling off as of next week and it's making me feel more energetic just knowing it's coming. :-)

I pledge to exercise 20 minutes a day, 6 days a week.

I'm in - just a little slow in finding the post. It's amazing what you can find if you actually take the time to R E A D! I need to quit getting my hair highlighted, I think it's affecting my brain cells! Or at least that's the excuse I'm using.

I gave up on my walk/run training program because I was doing it when I got home at night and the last time I had to compete on the track at the high school with a family of racoons (they won by the way). For some reason I'm not a morning person and hate to exercise before work. At work I do walk about 9000 steps a night - probably more. I'm pondering here of what to commit to - I know I need to do more because just the walking isn't enough.

Ok here - we go:

Monday - 30 Minutes Zumba DVD, then the Firm Express (just got it today!), 30 Minutes Walking
Tuesday - 15 Minutes Elliptical, 10 Minute Dance DVD (love this video), 30 Minutes Walking
Wednesday - 30 Minutes Zumba DVD, then the Firm Express, 30 Minutes Walking
Thursday - 15 Minutes Elliptical, 10 Minute Dance DVD, 30 Minutes Walking
Friday - 30 Minutes Zumba DVD, Firm Express, 30 minutes walk (and 2 hours of driving!)
Saturday - 15 Minutes Elliptical, 10 Minute Dance DVD, 30 Minutes Walking
Sunday - 60 Minute walk, 3 hours of yelling at the tv during Chiefs football

My goal is to develop a love relationship with my elliptical. Because if it doesn't develop soon it's getting sold at the garage sale in October, then I'm getting a treadmill.

Friday - 30 Minutes Zumba DVD, then the Firm Express, 30 Minutes Walking
Saturday -

Well, I was going to commit to riding my bike for 25 minutes twice a day as I had envisioned riding bikes to and from school with my kids. But my husband tried it with them this morning and said it was a living nightmare. So I'm scrapping that plan...I need to keep my sanity intact!

I'll probably end up doing my Jillian Michael's 30-Day Shred DVD and/or walking.

I, too, am a slacker when it comes to exercise...you know that road that is paved with good intentions?...travelled it many times...start, "excuses", stop, guilt! Two things happened this week; figured out that it needs to be a "tracking game" for me to stay interested and read a quote on someone's spark page that hit home visually. So, started researching pedometers (was looking for one I could wear on my shoe) and ordered one from Amazon that should be here today-which satisfies my tracking obsession. I hate to sweat, and have talked myself into a place where I will do anything to not indulge...to my detriment, of course. "Sweat is just fat crying" was posted on a spark page. It was like revelation...of course I want my fat to cry as it is leaving its comfy home of decades...I could see it and therefore, could participate in making it happen. I really want to find a comical drawing of an obese woman in workout attire, sweat droplets (with sad faces) blowing off her as an inspiration visual...it was that much of an "AHA" moment!

Next week I will: 1. Walk each night for 20 minutes in the neighborhood.
2. Wear my pedometer to establish a baseline of steps taken in routine
activity.

Thanks to SUZYINKC for the "Walk At Home" suggestion. DVD is on the way, and I can use it at work to accomplish "intentional" steps during my lunch hour in weeks to come-building a healthy habit. (It sounds like I never get out in the world to know such items exist-I thought I was on top of all kinds of things until I found Spark People!) Thanks to Gabby for creating this forum for change! Accountability is a motivator for me.

You do what you have to do Daisybug. This is going to be good for me, cause I say I am going to exercise and then just never do. So being accountable to 800+ people, will make me do it lol

I'm sad to say I can't join this thread yet but will cheer you all on! With DH's surgery just over a week away, and so much to get ready, I am still exercising daily but it's a fly by the seat of my pants kind of thing. Whatever fits in is what I do. Perhaps come October things will settle a bit but for now I am living in the moment.

Everyone else.....right now because I'm working more than full time, I make a point of walking my dog three times a day (yes, I am able to come home for lunch).....and take her for longer walks on the weekends.

Now that I can start riding again - that will be added back into my exercise soon, soon, soon. Riding for training is very high intensity - can burn 500 calories and hour - and man! Does it use muscles!!! :-)

Gabby - I have a DVD called "Melt it Off With Mitch" that I'm thinking you might really like. It's totally isometric - no intense jumping around - but instead uses medicine balls of either two or four pounds to perform the exercises. It is quite the workout none- the-less....

I used it frequently while I recovering from my eye surgery and was banned from doing "anything jarring".

Mitch has a website - might be worth a look....

I still use it now on rainier days when outside is not the best option.

Hi ya'll!

For those that plan to walk as part of your weekly challenge (and if you find yourself unable to get outside to do it), here's a free online walking video put out by Leslie Sansone.

www.walkathome.com/try-walk-a
t-home/

You know you can't beat free!

Check it out and see for yourselves how easy it is to do---not to mention how short the time frames are---just click on the link above and choose either:

1. The Beginner Walk -- (15 minutes)
2. The Express Walk -- (3 minutes) or
3. The Advanced Walk -- (5 minutes).

NOTE: Don't let the word 'Advanced' fool you... It's not hard at all!

Then, build your workout to equal 17 minutes.

I start off with the 3 minute walk every single day just to "ease" into activity! I love it!

Hopefully, you'll find this helpful. I sure have!

{{{Hugs}}}
Susy
P.S. Then bookmark it in your favorites and share it with your friends! They'll thank you for it.

I know that we have the tracker for exercise, but I thought this would be a good way to be more accountable. I for one need the extra support and motivation. I never exercise and really need to start.

Every week we'll start on a Monday. Just post what you think you will do every day. Make it challenging for yourself, but doable. What is a challenge for me will probably not be a challenge for someone else. For example, it would be a real challenge for me just to walk for 17mn. per day; for someone else it might be jogging for 3 miles. You can be creative and say you'll do interval training one day, walking the next. Whatever you want. You can commit to minutes or hours - it's totally up to you.

You can post every day, to log what you're doing, or just let me know at the end of the week if you did it every day so you get a team goodie. You can pick your goodie (points allowed will be determined by number of participants).

So what do you say? Anybody ready to do it with me and help me out? I need the motivation!
