L- large romaine salad (bought in cafeteria) with grilled chicken (oticed a few pieces had coating on it! UGG), eggplant, hard boiled egg, red onion, EVOO & Balsamic

S- Protein shake with 1 cup lowfat kefir and frozen strawberries and water YUMO

L- Salmon with lemon, oregano, EVOO, salt & pepper and garlic with cauliflower and broccoli and few sprays of I cant Believe its not butter

S- Protein powder chocolate shake with 3/4 cup lowfat Kefir and 1 cup frozen strawberries
(around 2:30pm)

D- Shrimp & garlic (annoyed because my mom forgot NOT IN C1 and I felt bad - didn't want to be ungrateful and I was STARVING) with some EVOO, steamed green beans and large romaine and radiccio sald with cucmber, etc and EVOO and balsamic

S- 1/2 cup greek oikos yogurt nonfat, a tad of protein powder, a tad of unsweetened cocoa cacao

I am doing well! Just finished Cycle 3- it looks like (at lowest- it changes depending on time of day or what I ate night before or on time of month) but 16-17 pounds on the 1st round...is that good? I feel good and my parents and hubby are providing compliments on how slim I look...which feels nice. I am trying to work on monitoring my stress levels when it gets overwhelming at work and responsibilioties and get MORE SLEEP! It's hard with my schedule and including morning workouts. THANKS FOR ASKING GABBY! emoticon I am going camping this weekend- so hiking hiking. I will eat generally well and 1 TREAT MEALLLLLL (if you say it is allowed) BROOKLYN'S PIZZERIA (I miss it so) I am not craving anything else but that darn brick overn pizza. Then Monday back to Cycle 1. How are you doing on Cycle 1 again?

GREAT POINT GABBY- emoticon I didn't even see it like that! :) hat's a lot of nuts! LOL - TRUE thanks ladies- are the cocoa almonds a bad choice? They seemed low on calories and sugars and carbs...

S- (It's a long day for me so I brought healthy snacks leave work at 9:30pm) cocoa almonds 100 cal and 1 string cheese
D- (I will try and have at 7pm before the class) is leftover about 3/4 cup of Turkey chili with some blk beans
LS- Came home starving from teaching it was about 10pm- ate about 1/2 cup of 17DD eggplant that mom sent home with me. and green tea

B- 1 egg or 3/4 egg whites; 2 lean Jenny-O Turkey sausage brkfst links; f/f cheddar cheese (2 tbsp), f/f/ sour cream (1 tbsp). and salsa and coffee with f/f 1/2 and 1/2 and stevia

L- 1 cup Kefir with 1 1/2 scoop protein powder and raspberries and agave squirt

D- (At Italian restaurant ONLY because hubby knows owner and had a free dinner in Times Square before Cirque de Soleil show @ Radio City- YAY)
appetizer: ( small splurge on:) eggplant with mozzarella/ ricotta - a small roll and a spinach salad with pear and walnuts (shared)
Entree: salmon with red sauce with shrimp and broccoli rabe & garlic.

S- nonfat fage yogurt with cocoa powder and few dark choc chips

FRIDAY 9/2
Brunch at friend's house (I SAID NO TO DELISH BAGELS)- Coffee and almond milk ad egg omelet with light cheese and spinach and turkey bacon with cantalope, strawberry & raspberries

S- 1/2 a Bellini by pool (Champagne & some 100% juice)

L- Pita Grill Salad with romaine, feta, lots of grilled chicken. cucumber, tomato, EVOO & balsamic & fire roasted veggies

S- Skinny caramel machiato- starbuck's with stevia and sugar free syrup

Realized was really hungry by 10pm so got a Wendy's salad (wasn't home all day) with EVOO & Balsamic grilled chicken, apple and few pecans

I was away at AC so I want to jot down a few days- pls excuse my long post- accountability helps me- and I want to see if and where I went wrong for future reference emoticon

SUNDAY: (No power due to Irene- but we did best we could)
B-egg whites with veggies (flat bred sanwich at DDonuts) didn't eat bread! Nonfat Chobani yogurt with agave and raspberries and grapefruit
coffee from DDonuts with 1/2 and 1/2 and stevia

L- Grilled chicken with a large romaine salad (mom made) with apple, sundried tomato, reg tomato, cucumber and feta cheese (r/f) and EVOO and balsamic vin

D- (Bone Fish Grill with Hubby)- Appetizer- large plate of mussels
entree: Dorey (White fish) with crab meat on top and spinach sauce (sauce on side dipped) with asparagus and green beans (steamed)
glass red wine



MONDAY (heading to Atlantic City)
Vacation begins!
B- coffee with f/f/ 1/2/ and 1/2 with stevia;1 egg with 3/4th whites; red pepper; broccoli; tomato and eggplant marinara cut up inside with 1/2 apple

L- (snacking on car ride with hubby) lean low sodium turkey lunch meat from Deli; 1/2 cup brown rice with 1/2 cup lentils (shared); carrots and tomatoes (baby)

D- At Atlantic City) egg white omelet with feta, olives, tomato; side of broccoli and carrots and spinach (2 small pieces of chicken looked like batter was on it) and a coffee and half and half and stevia

Snack- nuts salted (booo) a palm full in evening with 3 glasses of wine at casino :(

TUESDAY at Atlantic CIty still-walked like 2-3 hours today!

B- (At restaurant) 3 egg omelet with ham and broccoli, mushroom, tomato, peppers and some swiss cheese ; coffee half and half with splenda (no stevia on me :( ) and 3 bites of ww bread (YUCK didn't think it was as I fantasized!)

L- (room service) grilled chicken large romaine cobb salad with hard boiled eggs , peppers, smoked bacon (small bit); EVOO and balsamic; some antipasto (eggplant, zucchini, cheese, prosciutto) all shared 2 large entrees with hubby) 1 glass of red wine

D- (Harry's Seafood restaurant)
large broth stew of clams, mussels, lobster, corn (few bites), scallops, some chorizo and shrimp steamed

S- on beach nonfat fage yogurt with pom cherry fruit
red wine -1 glass

WED 8/31
B (At hotel room service) egg white omelet wth ham, onions, peppers and swiss cheese (1 slice), coffee and half and half and stevia; 1/2 c. grits, ketchup and small pat of butter in grits; grapefruit

S- fage n/f/ yogurt with fruit (shared)

L- (Home) Green tea; turkey meatballs (from TJoe's) 1/2 c brown rice with broccoli and eggplant marinara left over and low sugar/ carb marinara sauce on top

D- Pork chops (3 thin grilled) with balsamic vinegar and some EVOO and thyme; broccoli roasted in oven with garlic and olive oil.

L - Oriental Chicken Breast packet (found the recipe here in the C1 recipe forum...it was delicious but next time I'll add 2-3 cups of spinach since 1 cup shrank down to almost nothing..I also added carrots and onions!)

Gabby, yep...I made sure to eat the strawberries right before 2:00 pm! I threw some greek yogurt in a container with some strawberries and a packet of Pure Via and ate it right at 1:55 while I waited in the parking lot for my kids to get out of school...LOL!!!

@SHRINKINGG1 - Nothing says that you have to have breakfast things for breakfast. I love a poached egg on FF refried beans with salsa and FF cheddar. I had a yam for breakfast the other day, or eat your two starches for lunch. Did you always just eat yogurt for breakfast?

Wow, looking at everyone's menu makes me wonder if I'm eating too much!!

I'm on C1D3:

Breakfast: 1 egg with 2 egg whites, scrambled with spinach and reduced fat feta cheese, nectarine

Snack - yogurt with Pure Via

Lunch - canned salmon and 2 hard boiled egg whites on top of salad greens with 1 tbs EVOO, 2 tbs balsamic vinegar, 1 tsp Dijon mustard and a dash of italian seasoning and garlic powder (SOOO yummy)

Snack - yogurt with Pure Via and sliced strawberries

Dinner - Chicken Stir Fry (chicken breast, broccoli, onions, carrots, green beans and broccoli slaw)

@Jenny - yes the almond milk and stevia in your oatmeal was OK and I've had Chinese vegggies in sauce also. I just tried to shake off as much sauce as possibe

@LSG - if that recipe turns out well, don't forget to post the link in the recipe section for the appropriate cycle! emoticon It sounds delicious. Hopefully, you'll have leftovers to take for lunch tomorrow (including the couscous!)

Dinner: At Sushi restaurant with friends (FELT TERRIFIED with all the rice!! ) was starving - had a few edamame while waiting on dinner- so hungry :(

L: salad with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, 2 eggs, chicken breast, homemade dressing from balsamic & evoo
S: thin slice of chicken
D: Ended up @ McDonald's after a long afternoon of running around to the kids' open houses. Did pretty well: NO bites of any fries and NO soda (yay!) I had two grilled chicken sandwiches (without bread), lettuce and tomato. Tiny smidge (like less than a teaspoon) of real mayo was the only thing not technically on plan.
S: 6 oz. fat free plain greek yogurt, with stevia and cocoa powder

Mary, we all get tired of chicken and turkey on cycle one. I rarely eat fish. Other than the detox symptoms in the first few days, that's the hardest part of the diet; but like LSG says, that also makes C1 easy, because there are so few choices. Just keep repeating to yourself that you can do anything for 17 days and save the legumes for cycle 2! You never have to go back to cycle one. When you finish the three cycles, if you need to lose more, you can pick which cycle you want to treturn to.

Re: ground flax can be substituted for the 2 Tbls of oil in any cycle. I forget the proportions. two to one maybe? You can google it.

Gabby, I'm not a strict vegetarian but have some difficulty eating fish on some days and I get tired of chicken/turkey. I like the number of creative ways to fix them that I saw on this site (and honestly why I joined it). LOVE your recipe and will try it. I will have to think more about a good name for it.

I too have the celebrate with food tendency, even when I know I feel so much better when I stay focused and eat well. Thanks so much for you thoughts/recipe!

Is ground flax C2 do you know?

@Mary - everything sounds delicious but lentils are C2 unless you're a strict vegetarian. I love lentils - I was just going through all my recipes yesterday. I'm on round 3 and could only stay on cycle 1 for one week until I lost the few pounds I gained during a 5 day hiatus after finishing round two (it was my 60th birthday and unfortunately I haven't broken the celebrate with food habit yet). I had to switch to C2 because I miss my legumes!

Here's a portabella recipe - if you try it you can suggest a name for it and I'll post it in the recipe section!

Saute some chopped onion and peppers for a few minutes. Add one package ground turkey. Sprinkle on some seasoned salt, onion and garlic powders and cook until turkey is no longer pink. Drain if necessary. Add just enough low carb marinara sauce to make it a "sloppy joe" consistencey i.e. not as thin as spaghetti sauce. Meanwhile spray portabella mushrooms with EVOO and lightly season. Place on baking sheet covered with parchment paper (or lightly oiled) and bake at 400 degrees for 12 - 15 minutes gill side down (depends on how thick the mushrooms are). Flip mushrooms over and pile on turkey mixture. Sprinkle on FF or low fat shredded mozzarella and place back in oven for 10 - 12 more minutes.

(I actually forgot how long I had them in the oven - until a lot of the water came out on the first side)

Yesterday went well, but I work from home on Mondays so it was easier to manage. I packed things up for today and so far so good. It is hard for me to remember the green tea--drank it after dinner last night.

Does my C1D1 food day look ok? Lemon water; B: greek yogurt + grapefruit + green tea L: curried lentils with carrots, onions, kale + small egg crepe + acidopholis milk + green tea D: rosemary/garlic baked chicken + roasted cauliflower & broccoli (with EVOO + garlic) + green tea. Input welcome!!

I am looking forward to trying the eggplant parm. and and similar recipes with portabellos. It is a good time of year to start because there are so many fresh fruits and veggies right now.

@Emily - sounds like you did great on your first day - yes the cravings will definitely pass. I have to admit that due to my previously bad habit of snacking mindlessly at night while watching TV, I had a very rough time of it the first 5 days and had a pear in the evening 2x. I know that I broke the 2pm rule, but it was the only thing that saved me from eating sweets.

S: 6 oz FF plain greek yogurt w/stevia, peach
D: kale sauteed in evoo, taco salad (ground turkey w/taco seasoning, salad greens, salsa, tomatoes, onions), green tea.

20 min on elliptical.
I feel pretty good. Kind of craving sweets but I know it will pass.

@Jenny the eggplant parm is delicious - I can see why you ate it for so many days. Unfortunately I don't have any leftovers. My mother ate first and when I went back into the kitchen there was just enough for one serving. My mother looked at me and whispered that my DH came in and tried a piece (no sauce) and ended up taking more back to his "man cave". He isn't one for vegetables, so I was pleasantly suprised. He said they were good and suggested that I cut the slices thicker next time!

@Jenny - don't feel bad about using regular parmesan. When I was at the store, I compared nutrition labels. The low fat parmesan has the same amount of calories. It's lower in fat, but they add fillers like rice flour which then ups the calories - I'd rather get my calories from the real thing!

brkft: 2 eggs over medium and dab of evoo with sauteed red & yellow peppers and 1/2 grapefruit

lunch: (Pita Grille restaurant with friend) large Greek salad with no grape leaves (because brown rice inside- wah) salad had grilled chicken, feta cheese, EVOO & Balsamic and a side of grilled veggies
Also- few sips of yogurt, blueberry (no milk) and agave smoothie

snack- 4 turkey meatballs and coffee with f/f half and half and stevia

dinner: 4-5 slices eggplant marinara (reg parm cheese :( ) and turkey burger patty with green beans EVOO garlic and low carb marinara sauce

@Jenny - go to a Target store and stock up on the Extra sugar free Dessert gums - they carry flavors that other stores don't. I'm hooked on the Orange Creme. The Apple Pie, Key Lime Pie and Mint Chocolate Chip are all good too.

Did you know that Omega 3 fatty acids curb cravings? Do you take a daily supplement?

Lunch: 17DD sesame tilapia with spinach - vitamins

Snack: coffee with f/f/ half and half

Dinner: (muscle maker grill restaurant - healthy foods) The Godfather- 2 grilled chicken breast on a bed of broccoli covered with mushrooms roasted red peppers and reduced fat mozerella

Snack- tried roasted seaweed from TJ's- YUCK Not my thing - ate 1/2 slice
evening so me and hubby noshed on sugarless bubblegum Trident- sad but true- while we fantasized about a Blizzard or a Klondike bar or a Weight watchers bar!!!!!!
I am scared that I will always be an addict.......sweets and carbs still call to me I won't lie.

green tea

Dinner: Broccoli rabe with olive oil cooked turkey breast tenderloins with spices and a large salad with olive oil and balsamic

Snack: protein shake and 1 tbsp sugar free jelly and ice
Snack: coffee with fat free half and half

Lunch: Tilapia with onion, garlic and olive oil and broccoli (frozen) few butter sprays

Midday: Coffee, f/f/ 1/2 and 1/2 an stevia

Snack: grilled chicken strips

Dinner: eggplant rounds, low carb (4g) marinara, parm cheese; large mixed greens, EVOO & balsamic and grilled chicken (5 oz)

Snack: Yogurt with s/f jam

Brkfst: Egg white scramble with 2 leftover slices of eggplant marinara, broccoli and mushroom

Snack: grilled chicken (1 thin piece)

Snack: Blueberry and blackberry smoothie- 1cup Kefir lowfat and 1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder

Lunch: (Pita Grille) large mixed greens romaine salad with grilled chicken, grilled veggies, some bis of smoked applewood bacon (eek didn't realize right away!), some feta, some olives (eekk) and Pellegrino water.

Dinner: Large Taco Salad with ground lean chicken and taco seasoning, a dollop f/f/ sour cream, 2 tbsp f/f french dressing with lettuce and veggies.

FOUGHT ANY OTHER SNACK OFF- I wanted frozen yogurt- I SAID NO TO MY INNER CHUBBY GURL!

L= blueberry/strawberry smoothie
Put my entire allotment of fruit in frozen and it was like eating soft serve ice cream. I may permanently duplicate my mistake, but will have to use my Blendtec. My little bullet could barely handle it.
D- grilled ckn breasts with peppers and onions. Green beans
