I've been maintaining this week... I ALMOST said "just" maintaining, but that would be wrong. For me it's helpful to stay at a weight for a few days or a week before moving down again. Just so I keep the right direction in mind!

I see any weight loss as a plus even if it is in ounces. I only lost 1/2 pound last week but better than gaining it.

I weigh in weekly, and check measurements monthly. I was somewhat depressed last week after receiving a new weight watchers scale which showed my weight as 5 lbs heavier than my other scale did. I had lost 16 lbs since April but in my stupid head, I read the 5 lb difference as a 5 lb gain. I hardly exercised and practically gave up last week, and then realized how stupid I was to give up over that 5 lbs. I was able to adjust my starting weight and subsequent weigh-ins so they more accurately reflected an additional 5 lbs. I still had lost 16 lbs, I just had a little further to go to reach my ultimate weight-loss goal. Well, I was pleasantly surprised by my weigh-in yesterday that even tho I "screwed up" last week I still ended up losing another 2 lbs!!!! I don't know how, but I'm pumped again!!

I exercised daily but did a bit lighter work outs this week, with one 30 vigorus workout on the rowing machine. To my surprise I still lost 3 lbs. I have lost 22 lbs. Feeling great when people are starting to notice it. I'm almost half way there.

It is not enough to take steps which may some day lead to a goal; each step must be itself a goal and a step likewise.

Reading everyone's progress postings is totally inspirational! A MONTH!! Hard to believe. But whoever here said they were over the moon with their progress.... I think that must be true for many of us. I know I have a good ways to go, BUT I'm thrilled that I'm moving. And seeing progress right now makes me KNOW that I can reach my goal! emoticon

It's been a month. Today I weigh 174. N weight loss in two weeks. I didn't weigh myself on Easter because the gym was closed but I had a bad week and pretty sure it would have been a gain. So being at 174 is better than showing a gain. I am down 5 pounds. I also did my measurements today. Of the six things I measure I am down 4 inches total. I don't expect to lose in my neck (it doesn't seem to fluctuate either way more than 1/2 inch). I didn't lose in my thigh either but I can see an increase in muscle tone so I will take that for now.

Hello everybody! Today was my first weigh in since starting the program a week ago. I am down 2 lbs, one inch on my chest and a half inch on my arms :) Unfortunately my boyfriend measured my hips wrong last time so I don't know if that changed but I will see next week. This week I did 4 days of cardio burning about 400 calories each time and one day of weight lifting. I was over my 1550 daily calorie range 5 out of 7 days by about 100-200 calories each time but that doesn't seem to have hurt. I did eat out twice on Saturday and was almost at 2000 calories that day but I ate light yesterday and did a lot of housework and yard work so I think that made up for it. I'm very satisfied with the results and plan on trying to duplicate them again this week, I will go for 4 days of cardio and 2 days of weight training and try to stick to no more than 1650 calories per day. Thanks have have a great week! :)

174 - down a half pound. Down is down I guess. I am still struggling to get into my calorie range though I did better this week. I did eat out a little more than we prefer cause it's been a stressful, hectic week. Hoping to better this week. I am getting my exercise in though which is good. I will probably try to mix it up a little this week and do some different cardio.

I spent 6 days on bed rest eating only fruit and soup during week 1 and 2. The weight loss between 4/3/2011 and 4/13/2011 was due to this bedrest. Was very glad I did not gain it all back when I returned to eating and exercising.

Looking forward to next Sunday scale check after a full week of nutrition and fitness. My goal is to lose 5 pounds.

This is the year to get to Oneunderland.

Very glad to report a 2lb loss this week. Didn't do as much walking as last week as I am back at work but hopefully I'll get some extra in today and tomorrow.

My scale needs a new battery and I won't get it fixed for the pure reason that I become obsessive about weighing in. I'm going to try and do the once a week at my meeting and see how that goes for me. What I hate is if I am up on a day that I go that's when I want to see during the course of the week if I have lost anything. Still afraid of buying that new battery and installing it.

The scale is really a two-edged sword forme. I want to weight myself daily, but if I'm up a little, I'm discouraged. What I'm trying now is to check every a.m. when I get up, but only record officially one day a week. That should give my body time to even out the ups and downs.

Hi, There was a Dr. Oz program that was all about the best time to do things, and he said the best time to weigh yourself is first thing in the morning. The best time to exercise is in the morning before you eat breakfast, and that you can boost your metabolism by drinking a glass of water at around 3 p.m. everyday. For me, I check my weight every day, but I only officially record it once a week, on Monday. Also, recording my measurements at the same time is great because sometimes my weight won't budge, but my waist will have shrunk a bit. And I am motivated by any drop in the numbers :)

That is a very important concept...letting go of the numbers especially in the beginning and focusing on adjusting to a healthier lifestyle and not just for philosophical reasons.

I do a significant amount of strength training which means that I am building a significant amount of lean muscle mass. In the end this will benefit me in that my body will start metabolizing fats quicker than the sludge machine I am currently inhabiting but in the beginning it also means slight weight gain or worse stasis. BUT...I can see my body changing despite the fact that the needle isn't moving as fast as I would like. My pants fit differently, my arms feel tighter and my butt looks more like a Kardashian and less like I ate all the sisters. I am also feeling stronger, less winded and more energized.

As long as we are putting in the hard work and seeing the health results, we shouldn't tie ourselves to the scales. (Now we can't cheat and only put in 15 minutes of 2.5 mph 1x a day, eat a vat of pudding and tell ourselves it is muscle mass either...)

So you are right...we invest the time and work into ourselves, get healthy, improve our relationship with food and mirrors and work on our weight along with a positive attitude. This is something I am struggling with but with a good and honest support system it is possible.

I only weigh myself once a week. For here it is a Friday but i will find it hard to keep away from the scales on a Monday as historically that has been the day I weighed myself. However that was the day I weighed myself to see how much more had crept on due to an unstable thyroid condition, now my meds have been adjusted Friday is the day to see those pounds come off! emoticon

Weigh in day - 174.5, down 4.5 pounds even though I didn't get in my calorie range. Clearly I was eating way too much before cause I've significantly reduce my intake even if I didn't get in range. Woo-hoo! Next week I keep up the exercise and get those calories in range!

We living in a world where everyone is number obsessed. We have to measure everything.
The time the weight... What is the next step? Measure happiness?
Did you know that time basically do not exist? It is something what we invented to measure. To count to plan.
Try to live in now. Try not to measure everything. Just loose that weight to be happy! And once you feel happy hop on those scales and wright those numbers down. Just for a little reassurance. But remember, the main point of this whole weight loosing game is to be happy!

I think it's important to weigh yourself at the same time every time. Weight can fluctuate from how much you drank, what you are wearing, whether you just ate and what you may have eaten, or whether you just went to the bathroom (TMI sorry!) I may step on the scale other times during the week but I am trying to only "officially" count my weight once a week. I always do it on the same scale right after my spin class on Sunday mornings. Maybe you can set a time to do it and stick to that. I kinda feel like the most accurate true weight in first thing in the morning, naked.

Try not to obsess about the scale. You can use other measures too like inches, how you clothes fit, how you feel. You can do it!

Put the scales in the closet. Pull them out one day a week, first thing in the morning and weigh. Put them back in the closet and don't get them out until the same day next week.

In the meantime, grab a tape measure and measure your waist. Mark your calendar for once a month and measure your waist then.

Maybe you'll stop focusing on the scale and think about that measurement you would like for your waist!

I;m one of those people who are obsessed with the scale. I try so hard to keep from weighing myself every day at least 3 times before the day is over. I,m always disappointed though with the results. Since i'm new here I had to enter my starting weight and I really didn't know what to put, since my weight fluctuates so much and its different all through out the day.Anyway, does any one have advice on when is the best time of day to weigh and how I can stop myself from doing it so much?

I can do all things through christ who strengthens me.

I weigh in a few times a week but try to only record it once a week - same day/time so I suppose Monday nights will be that this time around lol I'm at 209 as of tonight... not too bad as this time 2 weeks ago I was at 214 and nothing has really changed other than fighting a nasty cold off. But tonight I caved and bought a kettle bell because of an inspirational friend and i'm bound and determined to get this baby weight off!

Some of us weigh once a week, others every day. I've even read posts about people that only weigh once a month or not at all!!

Whenever you weigh here is where you can brag about the numbers going down or rant about that plateau.
