I am on my third week of my training program for a faster 5k, but I am not sure how I am doing. Last week, most of my runs were done while we had a heat advisory so I had to be careful. Even tried to get up early to beat the heat and did not quite make it early enough.
I completed a 10k race on Saturday, my first and I was satisfied with my time. I crossed the finish line 5 minutes and 40 seconds sooner than the goal time I had set for myself.
I am focusing on eating less of sweet junk foods and while I am still have treats, I am noticing that I am able to control the amounts as long as I am mindful of what I am eating.
That I think is key to my success, being mindful of what I am eating. Often times when I am mindful of the junk food in my mouth, I find that it really does not taste as good as I was anticipating. In comparison, when I am mindful of eating fresh fruit, for example, my taste buds become alive and I really enjoy eating that piece of fruit. Not only that, I also feel satisfied, like my body can actually use what I just ate.
