Helloooo everyone. Wow, you guys are inspiring me with all of the exercise you're getting!

For the last few months I've been riding my road bike about 25 miles a week, usually on Saturdays with my riding group. It's fun, but we've become lazy since November when we all participated in a huge cycling event. A long term goal this year is to increase my mileage over the next several months so I can ride the 85 or 109 mi. event in November. I hope my riding group gets serious about riding again, otherwise I'm looking at finding a new group or achieving this goal on my own. Goals are a lot more fun to reach when you can attain and share them with others. emoticon

That's great! Can't imagine doing 9 miles. My last attempt at a run was a 5 mile beach run which I did 6 months after my second knee replacement. Would love to do it again but the arthritis has my back all messed up.

Great job MDSATS!

Today my tracker shows I have walked/jogged 100 miles in under 90 days!

The weight is coming off slowly but I am ok with that since my shapes is changing and my mental well being has improved a bunch.

I agree with looking back at where I was compared to where I am now with my running. It has taken me several years, but some days I actually feel like I am a runner. I am still slow, but I am stronger now during the runs and can go further distances before I feel the need for a walk break.

Looking back gave me a nice reward.
In april the time I logged was 18m 45s per mile.
on Saturday June 18 my time 15m 16s per mile.

Too often we focus on our failures and that becomes our motivation to become discouraged. A couple years ago, I took up running as my primary form of exercise and I finally feel like a runner. When I first started I could not run to my neighbors mailbox (1/10 of a mile), today as I run to my neighbor's mailbox (3/4 of mile) I often think about how my running has improved. That keeps me going day after day.
