I had a green smoothie, with flax seed and organic peanut butter. Yum!

I LOVE peanut butter and banana together! It's my favorite snack. It does sound like a good breakfast too!
I had cereal again - honey bunches of oats this time. No time this morning to drink my OJ!

That doesn't sound bad though. I usually either have eggs (egg beaters) in the morning or cereal. If it's a cereal day, I really pay attention to getting protein later in the day. I bet your applesauce muffins were relatively low in fat.

Today was 1/2 cup grape nuts, milk, orange juice, and strawberries.

My workday breakfasts consist of either a Jimmy Dean D-Lights breakfast sandwich or a Special K protein shake. And coffee--always. I am usually running out the door in the nick of time, so that's why I have a quick and easy breakfast during the work week. I could be a morning person if work day mornings didn't start at 6:30. Ugh! Today it was the shake.

When I can sleep in a little on the weekends and wake up to my natural body cycle, then I usually have cereal or eggs.

I had greek yogourt and a hard boiled egg this morning. I'm doing a boot camp on my lunch break today, so I wanted to add in some protein.

Now I started with the Mix and Match planner, and I love it.
I made breakfast menu, saved it as a group, and ate every morning.
Simple, good, fast.
I wrote it with the kcal and grams on a post-it, and stick to my kitchen wall.
I plan to make some new groupings, so I have more varieties.
And somehow this good breakfast gives an easy start for the day.

I never used to be an oatmeal person because I hated the texture of it... ew.

But Better Oats - a direct competitor to Quaker - makes a whole bunch of different kinds of oatmeal that ISN'T gross! It cooks up with more firmness and body to it, and most kinds also have flaxseed in them... bonus. :)

Better Oats - in all its different iterations - has become my go-to for breakfasts at work. The little box it comes in fits very conveniently on my desk without being obtrusive or taking up a bunch of space. Seeing it there when I first come in reminds me to eat first thing.

I know I sound like a commercial - sorry, LOL! - but I really, really love everything about this oatmeal, especially the three biggest things: taste, convenience, and cost.

I love cold cereal too in the morning. On most mornings, I cook up some egg beaters because I have to boost my protein intake, but I'd rather eat cold cereal.

Hey Amy,

Have you tried any of the other Kashi products? They are tasty! Some other healthy alternatives are Kellogg's Almond Raisin Mueslix (mix of whole grains, fruits and nuts), Special K (all varieties high in protein), or Mini Wheats or Fibre Plus Antioxidants (whole grain, and high in fibre). Love my cereal :)

That is an interesting link. I think the real advantage of eating breakfast is to prevent bingeing on junk food later in the morning.
I aim to have a breakfast that is high in protein (egg whites or Greek yogurt). By eating a high-protein breakfast, I have less trouble keeping my carbohydrate levels within my range. When I first joined Spark, I was eating cold cereal for breakfast, then I switched to oatmeal, and now I usually eat egg whites and a piece of whole wheat toast. I need to eat a good breakfast to give me energy for my morning workouts.

"Nutrition Diva" said there is no really correlation found between metabolism and eating breakfast. But maybe people who eat breakfast regularly, do healthy eating in general more consistently.

I eat 15 g müsli + 100 ml of skimmed milk 0.5 % fat. This gives some fibers, kcal, and proteins. I like the skimmed milk, because it has the important proteins, but is moderate in calories.

Then I eat something from these: some puffed rice or crispbread, low fat ham or low fat cheese (100g ~ 100 kcal types), low fat spreads, green paprika, tomatoes, green onion. once-twice I cook an egg in the microwave, or eat a pair of frankfurter wurst.
I like to finish with some 100 kcal snack, a small cup fruit yogurt, banana, or low cal chocolate pudding.

I eat usually 3-450 kcal in the morning. After keeping my cal budget the night before, usually, I look forward a lot my breakfast, I love the new day and new meal.

VJORTEGA~ Sounds like you have great breakfasts! I love that greek yogurt, I buy it plain, and fat free, and it contains so much protein, more than any other kind of yogurt! I add frozen strawberries (zapped in the microwave!) and 1/2 cup of bran buds!

I always try to make sure I have some type of protein with my breakfast. This is usually an egg or putting almonds in a smoothie. I find that the protein helps me to feel full longer.

My favorite breakfast is the Almond Energy Blast. It's a smoothie with 1/4 cup of almonds, 1/2 cup of silk tofu, 3/4 cup of plain fat-free yogurt and 1 cup of milk (we use unsweetened almond milk). This serves two. I also put 1 packet of Splenda in mine. Some of you may recognize this as a South Beach Diet recipe.

Yeah, the cold cereal doesn't hold me over on some days. If I have a hard workout planned in the morning, I also eat a banana with breakfast.
My kids LOVE oatmeal and eat it practically every morning with some milk and maple syrup.

Raisin, Apple, Walnut Healthy Lifestyle Oatmeal wish a cup of skim milk. I love this oatmeal and it keeps me full for a long time. I like cold cereal too, but it is not enough for me. I get hungry earlier.

Your breakfast smoothie has everything that you need. My favorite breakfast is just cold cereal in milk, and I got to have my orange juice. I can't skip breakfast - besides knowing it is unhealthy, it makes me feel lightheaded if I don't eat in the morning.

At the clinic I go to they stress heavily how important breakfast is. I have hear that for years in the diet industry too. Think of your metabolism like a fire in your fireplace. Overnight the fire dwindles, and come morning you need to stoke it up! Eating small meals & snacks throughout the day keeps the fire (metabolism) burning! We all probably know this already, but its good to reaffirm sometimes.

I have never been much of a breakfast eater, and as they mentioned at the seminar last night, skipping breakfast puts your metabolism into starvation mode, storing the next thing you eat as fat!

So my breakfast is usually a smoothie. I combine a cup of frozen fruit, a tablespoon of flax oil, and a scoop of protein. Its a tasty, balanced meal I can have on the go, and gets my metabolism going!

So what did YOU have for breakfast today?
