I think most insurances and Medicare/Medicaid will cover diabetes classes that are often given by endocrinologist groups. I took a class in December that was 3 hours long for 3 weeks. I learned so much about carbs and eating right, the disease itself, etc. Even how salt is bad for diabetics because it causes edema (swelling from fluid retention). You may check into that as a refresher course or a motivator...
