Glad to hear you are overcoming it! I used to be terribly afraid of having it go too fast, get out of control, etc. I overcame it by just doing it and getting used to it. Now I love it and am doing the 5k challenge on the treadmill. I have a fear of the outdoors--running outdoors, that is. I'll have to overcome that one! All the best and great job overcoming that fear!

With God all things are possible

Thanks everyone! I did a 15m mile today to get used to it! but that also means I missed me last day of week 2...but it's okay. Tomorrow is my Day of rest and I'll pick right back up!
Thanks!

I hear you! I think the key is really just practicing and getting used to the machine. I think it's fine to go a little slower on the TM. Better to be slower than fly off the back of it!

You'll do fine!

I agree with Laurie but do understand where you are coming from because there have been many times when I have grabbed the rails thinking I was losing my balance. But...now I am so much better with practice and I am on an older skinnier track than most of them have now as well as being the "older dog" learning these new tricks at 54. I do not do the speed you do but you will do fine.

Yep, you answered your own question. Just dive right in, go the speed that is comfortable to you and in time you will overcome your fears. Best wishes!

So you may have guessed by the title but I am Terrified of the Treadmill! I run fine on the bike path outside, I walk 12m mile at my slowest durring the warm up....
On the Treadmill I cannot get past a 17m mile! I am so scared of losing control of it, even thought they have emergancy buttons! I would rather use the bike or elliptical.
I really want to overcome this fear because summers here are HOT and I would love to use it sometimes. Has anyone else been scared of it like this before? How did you overcome the fear?
I'm thinking the only way to overcome it is to dive in...
