I don't have local tv, dish or cable ... only Netflix for shows and movies and I don't listen to radio news or trust what I see on social media. I didn't try to follow the polls. I figured it would be biased anyhow. I voted early (on the 7th) and then just waited. My daughter woke me at 6AM on the 9th with a calm, Mom, Donald Trump is our president. :) I was beyond pleased.

I didn't follow the polls at all. I don't have TV and didn't listen to the radio or anything. I went to bed assuming it would be given to hillary and woke up surprised/relieved.
you know Skeeter, I feel the same way. My ds and I just studied the Carter and Reagan eras and we were so far left that it seems there's no where else to go but right.
Though those of us paying attention do know know there was a worse area so far left, ie hillary/socialism and no more freedom.
If Trump proves to be another Reagan it will definitely do this country good.
I feel too God has blessed the U.S.A. and that we've been given another chance we need to fix a lot of issues.
Have a great week.

Surprised yes, I too were believing the lsm and polls. I tryed getting good news from Hannity and Rush, they too weren't real reassuring. Polls always seem to favor Dems. In % recorded but there are many more of them regestored, then the massive crowds at Trumps rally's, but Rush said Romney too had big crowds. I remember at least one other time when the polls were so wrong, not sure when but think it was President Reagan. When the Cubs won the World Series, first time in 108 years, being a long suffering Cub fan was somewhat subdued in my enthusiasm,just was so worried about the election and the expected outcome which would affect my Great Grandkids and more for many years, baseball is just a game, Supream court is lifetime. I might not be around to see it but my feelings are we just might be seeing another Reagan. God has blessed the U S A.

Is everyone as surprised and relieved as I am?
Has anyone heard that Rand Paul will get to work on repealing obamacare. Does anyone else feel as though he has two faces?

Reading about the issues of the 1960's and it sounds very much what is happening today. We haven't gone "forward" in anything, but backwards in every way.

This so called progressive aka socialism has been in the works (infiltration) for so many decades. I heard on the radio this morning as long as the 1880's

Can you believe what we are seeing, and hearing? I've been around a long time, but never have I seen an election as this. I thought the Clinton years were bad and that the Obama election was crooked-- but nothing like this!!!!!!!!

I think the election has a good chance of going Republican just because of history. The last time one party won after 2 terms of the same party was the first Bush and he followed Reagan. Obama ain't no Reagan!
Also, I don't see anyone getting really excited about HC like they did about Obama. And then there's the totally racist and sexist fact that we tried something new, now let's go back to the white male. Can't see 2 firsts in a row.

Hillary is such a poor candidate - dishonest, shrill voice at times, totally flat at others, and without a good message to attract voters.

The conservatives have many terrific candidates, and surely the American public will choose one of our best, if we can only get the registered Republican voters out to the polls. I fear that if we are stuck with another "moderate" like Jeb Bush, Donald Trump, Chris Christie, etc., we'll lose to the very corrupt and incompetent Hillary, with her despicable husband "BJ" Clinton back in the White House to rent out rooms and sell favors to our country's enemies.

I am not being negative, but looking at the facts. I don't care who runs for the GOP, no one has a snowballs chance of beating HC, as long as people vote multiple times, dead people vote, and all these illegals vote, she will win. The DemocRATS and especially BO and the Clinton's have never played fair and never will. It isn't in them. What we can do is pray. emoticon

Well, my guy is officially in! I've been waiting for Scott Walker to announce.

I'm a little apprehensive about this election; is it really going to be all about the money? Are the voters really in charge of this? I'm worried that Bush is going to get it just because of the money and I don't think he has a snowball's chance of beating HC. I remember my first episode of cynicism with the political process when Bob Dole was 'nominated' in the '94 (maybe) primary simply because it was 'his turn'. How many more presidential elections are we going to lose because it's someone's 'turn'.

Has anyone ever read Phyllis Schlafly's book 'A Choice Not an Echo'? I've been thinking of getting it and wondered if it's any good.

It will be a very interesting campaign, for sure. There are many local conservative gatherings that bring forth their own winners based on the responses of the audiences at the respective enclaves.

The most recent one showed Ted Cruz the big winner, with Scott Walker holding his own, along with Jeb Bush, while Marco Rubio and others failed to make any impact.

There is still a long way to go, and we all need to listen carefully to all the Republican candidates to make an informed decision when we go to the polls next year. May the best one win.

I'm still waiting for the candidates to start their hard campaigning.

Rick Perry was never a high choice, and with his recent gaff just dropped off entirely. His allowing of in-state tuition for illegals busted my juevos.

My grand-niece went to Texas schools from K-10 and moved to OK for 11 & 12 when her Dad was promoted. She pays about $25,000/year to go home to Texas.

Ben Carson may be a lightweight on International issues, but there is a former Representitive (Gerrymandered out of his district), a retired Army Ltc who would make a solid second.

Oh, wait! That would give the Conservatives two black men in the White House. What shenanigans would the Liberal racists have to come up with? There can't be two Uncle Tom's, can there?

I want to recommend a recently published book to all of you. The title is "Clinton Cash". The book is only half as long as it appears because the last half of the book contains Internet references YOU can check.

This book will give you more than enough ammunition to shut down the shrill Hillary screamers. Using this book as a starting point, an investigation would probably have H, B, and even little 'c' under a RICO indictment.

It could also have H defending herself from charges of Malfeasance (sp?) In office.

It made me sick to my stomach, but it's far from being the first time Clinton escapades have done so.

Still workin' on the lines, it just gets a bit slower when the big 70 comes around.

My top choices are Ted Cruz, Gov. Scott Walker, (both for sure, in either order), followed by several really good candidates in no particular order, Gov. Bobby Jindal, Carly Fiorina, Gov. Rick Perry, Marco Rubio, and maybe another one or two. Then some I have questions about, like Dr. Ben Carson, who is so weak on international issues, Rand Paul, too much like his dad on national security, former FL Gov. Jeb Bush who authored and supported Common Core, and supported amnesty for illegal aliens, progressives like Chris Christie, unpopular state leaders like Ohio's Gov. Kalich and NY former Gov. Pataki.

I guess that the bottom six are on my NO VOTE list, and I'll make my final decision after the top candidates come here to my home town to talk to us personally. They may all be very good people, and could contribute to our next Republican president's cabinet, but I don't think we want another top echelon of leaders like Obama has garnered. I'd love to hear what the rest of you think.

Yes, it happens. There are liberal teams on Spark as well, and some of their members will troll conservatives everywhere on the net they can find them.

The leadership of SP is pretty liberal. The team leaders include some very radical libs, including Code Pink, and if you have a visible profile, they will track you when they see you belong to a conservative team. All they have to do is mark one of your posts as "offensive" and without recourse you can be banned forever as a racist.

Check out ' tnww2-owner@yahoogroups.com ' That is our conservative debate group of which I am owner, and polite political debate is the only venue. We do have members of this team in our group, some of whom only read the board without contributing. You are welcome to join this group, which usually has postings of relevant news articles and blogs, just a few daily, and welcome discussions pro and con on them.

So...if we have to be careful not to offend the liberals on a conservative thread, where CAN we speak candidly? I watch myself on my other teams but, since this is a CONSERVATIVE Spark team, I didn't imagine that I needed to here. Seriously!?

We all have to be on guard against making unintended 'offensive' remarks which the liberal trolls will flag and have one of us removed without recourse or defense. Believe me, it has happened to several of our team members. Forewarned is forearmed.

GMASANDIE - Great prayer!

Just an FYI. I was reviewing our membership roster and found MYREALANA listed.

She is simply snooping as she is not Conservative by any definition. The last comment she wrote I saw on the team "Soapbox" was she was so disgusted she and her husband were considering moving to another country (I believe those she might consider are ALL liberal/socialist in nature).

Hi guys. I hope everyone is well. I didn't watch the State of the Union Address the other day because I need to watch my blood pressure. I heard bits and pieces from friends. It sounded like it was a nightmare.

Also, it has been awhile again since I've been in here. I never meant to stay away so long. Still very busy. Raising our kids who are now 15, 11, and 8. I'm a junior in college (should graduate June 2016), and I've been working from home for 19 months. Just found out last week, my husband and I are expecting our 4th baby. So, I gotta stay away from Obama speeches til after he or she is born. lol

You may have read this, but perhaps some haven't. I couldn't help but share it...

In church last Sunday, I heard a sweet elderly lady in the pew next to me
saying a prayer.

It was so innocent and sincere that I just had to share it with you:

"Dear Lord:

The last four or five years have been very tough.

You hae taken my favorite actor - Paul Newman;

my favorite actress - Elizabeth Taylor;

my favorite singer - Andy Williams;

my favorite author -Tom Clancy;

and now, my favorite comedian - Robin Williams.

I just wanted you to know that my favorite politicians are:

Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, and I have a special place in my heart for Jessie Jackson and Al
Sharpton...

Amen!

Hello...that congratulations was supposed to be a private message to the recipient. Something got screwed up. I might have clicked on the wrong link. Oh well, the world didn't end!

Yes, that is a great reply to some other thread, which obviously landed in the wrong subject message group.

Taken in the context of this topic, it seemed far out of place, and I apologize to you for misunderstanding your reply.

I hope you will restate your message in the proper forum so the intended recipient will get the message.

Believe me..I do not need to be lectured about thinking for myself. I am not now..nor have I ever been a supporter of the present residents in the White House. My previous post was non-political. I simply chose to congratulate a SP member for her weight loss following the gluten-free diet. So I say again CONGRATULATIONS SP member AUNTRENEE for your weight loss.

We hope you have also been inspired to think for yourself and your children's future if our country doesn't change course very quickly, because it's not what Mrs. Obama demands you eat that matters, but rather what our country looks like if we can't reverse the prez' policies that are destroying the future of our children.

All that "hope and change" in Obama's campaigning is nothing more than a re-write of Bill Clinton's campaign, but with a pro-Muslim twist, which has killed thousands of people in the world when he takes the wrong side every time in conflicts in the Middle East. Suddenly Obama has made us the bad guys and we are the next targets of the ISIS, after they conquer the Middle East and Israel, then southern Europe and moving on to western Europe and the U.S. These are Obama's busom buddies, and they don't give a whit about your diet. You will convert to Islam or die, just like the rest of us if we don't defeat them.

Obama may be mentally challenged, but don't forget that most of his voting block was similarly afflicted, and they have bought all his lies from the beginning. Lie upon lie, promise after promise, all just aimed at getting the votes of the uninformed voters, and only the informed ones now get the proof of all the lies and broken promises.

With the mainstream media in the Democrats' pocket, we can just expect more of the same if Hillary actively campaigns and then wins the Dem nomination.

OMGosh! I just read that in a speech on Saturday, Obummer is now blaming the pull out of U.S. forces in Iraq on Bush even though Obama has said that was his number 1 goal since he was campaigning in 2008!
I'm telling the truth when I say this man has sever mental issues!
I think all candidates, no matter what they are running for should have to take a psych test.

Ah, yes, this has also happened to us locally here in the Adirondacks, North Country! Even up here --- corrupt politics happens! We no longer consider ourselves 'Republicans' just conservatives or tea partyrs....

I do also, but my faith in conservative voters is sinking with the Republican party's tactics in some recent primary elections, where the party insiders have rallied to support a failing insider against a rising Tea Party favorite, using Democrat tactics of accusing the challenger of racism and even paying Democrats to cross party lines and vote in the runoff for the long-term insider who is apparently not even mentally competent to continue in his seat.

Things like this (in Mississippi) cause conservatives to sit out elections because there is no way to win when both parties are so corrupt.

My husband and I pray daily that the Conservatives have learned their lesson and will finally show up at the polls to vote.... since their apathy has cost us so much in the past!

The summer doldrums have set in. The calm before the fall elections? I read somewhere, a Gallop poll showed only 35% have an interest. I hope that means ----- the left side!
