(Too good not to share)

Texas A&M calls Obama 5th best President in America. Good research done by a fine institution.

Obama Rated 5th Best President in our History

From a total of 44 US Presidents, Obama has been rated as the 5th best according to a study completed at Texas A&M University. The public relations office at A&M released this statement: "After only five years in office, Americans have rated Obama the fifth best President in U.S. history."

These are the results according to A&M"

1. Reagan and Lincoln tied for first.
2. Seventeen presidents tied for second.
3. Twenty-three other presidents tied for third.
4. Jimmy Carter came in fourth, and...
5. Obama was fifth.

The link I added didn't work, but there are several when this is googled, sorry

We live in Illinois and went to Arizona. I'm not sure what state we were in when we went to the Waffle House. I think one of them was in Missouri.
They didn't say why they posted the Constitution, but I wish I had asked. I might check on line and ask (if I can) if all the Waffle House's post the Constitution on their wall.
I thought it was great too!! Thanks for asking.

My husband and I took a trip recently and one of the places we stopped at for breakfast twice was the Waffle House. Just inside the door of both of them was the Constitution!!!

Of course I told the waitress I was glad to see the Constitution there!

And their waffles and sausage are great!!!!!!!!

For all of us that respect and love our guns, rifles, etc., and the Second Amendment, Consider This ..........

We are advised TO NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics. BUT...we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.

Funny how that works.....
And here’s another one worth considering:

Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security will run out of money. BUT, how come we never hear about WELFARE running out of money?

I just received this from a friend. I had to shae it...

In church yesterday, this little old lady in the pew next to me was silently saying a private prayer. I saw her lips moving and I thought it was so touching that I just had to ask her who she was praying for. What she said was so sweet and sincere that I just had to share it with you:

Dear Father,
These past couple of years
have been tough....
You have taken my
favorite Actor Patrick Swayze,
my favorite actress Elizabeth Taylor,
my favorite Cowboy James Arness,
my favorite athlete Bob Feller,
my favorite singer Lena Horne and
my favorite salesman Billy Mays.

I just wanted you to know that my
favorite president is Barack Obama.
In Jesus’ name, Amen

Michelle isn't going to give up the life of a millionaire, even if she has to put up with obama and his narcissism. Theirs was an arranged marriage to begin with, by Rev. Jeremiah Wright, to "cleanse" Obama's record of his Chicago membership in the gay bathhouse.

I believe Michelle Obama is even more radical than Barack. She rules the roost.

Great piece by Dr. Sowell. He covers all bases of this government shutdown so well. If only the whole voting public could read and understand this, the love affair with the Democrat party and Obama would be over. In reality, though, we know the mainstream media will not publish this viewpoint, and instead distort and mislead their readers to support their hero, Obama, no matter how badly his policies are hurting our country.

OCTOBER 4, 2013
Who Shut Down the Government?
Thomas Sowell
10/4/2013 12:01:00 AM - Thomas Sowell

Even when it comes to something as basic, and apparently as simple and straightforward, as the question of who shut down the federal government, there are diametrically opposite answers, depending on whether you talk to Democrats or to Republicans.
There is really nothing complicated about the facts. The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted all the money required to keep all government activities going -- except for ObamaCare.
This is not a matter of opinion. You can check the Congressional Record.
As for the House of Representatives' right to grant or withhold money, that is not a matter of opinion either. You can check the Constitution of the United States. All spending bills must originate in the House of Representatives, which means that Congressmen there have a right to decide whether or not they want to spend money on a particular government activity.
Whether ObamaCare is good, bad or indifferent is a matter of opinion. But it is a matter of fact that members of the House of Representatives have a right to make spending decisions based on their opinion.
ObamaCare is indeed "the law of the land," as its supporters keep saying, and the Supreme Court has upheld its Constitutionality.
But the whole point of having a division of powers within the federal government is that each branch can decide independently what it wants to do or not do, regardless of what the other branches do, when exercising the powers specifically granted to that branch by the Constitution.
The hundreds of thousands of government workers who have been laid off are not idle because the House of Representatives did not vote enough money to pay their salaries or the other expenses of their agencies -- unless they are in an agency that would administer ObamaCare.
Since we cannot read minds, we cannot say who -- if anybody -- "wants to shut down the government." But we do know who had the option to keep the government running and chose not to. The money voted by the House of Representatives covered everything that the government does, except for ObamaCare.
The Senate chose not to vote to authorize that money to be spent, because it did not include money for ObamaCare. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says that he wants a "clean" bill from the House of Representatives, and some in the media keep repeating the word "clean" like a mantra. But what is unclean about not giving Harry Reid everything he wants?
If Senator Reid and President Obama refuse to accept the money required to run the government, because it leaves out the money they want to run ObamaCare, that is their right. But that is also their responsibility.
You cannot blame other people for not giving you everything you want. And it is a fraud to blame them when you refuse to use the money they did vote, even when it is ample to pay for everything else in the government.
When Barack Obama keeps claiming that it is some new outrage for those who control the money to try to change government policy by granting or withholding money, that is simply a bald-faced lie. You can check the history of other examples of "legislation by appropriation" as it used to be called.
Whether legislation by appropriation is a good idea or a bad idea is a matter of opinion. But whether it is both legal and not unprecedented is a matter of fact.
Perhaps the biggest of the big lies is that the government will not be able to pay what it owes on the national debt, creating a danger of default. Tax money keeps coming into the Treasury during the shutdown, and it vastly exceeds the interest that has to be paid on the national debt.
Even if the debt ceiling is not lifted, that only means that government is not allowed to run up new debt. But that does not mean that it is unable to pay the interest on existing debt.
None of this is rocket science. But unless the Republicans get their side of the story out -- and articulation has never been their strong suit -- the lies will win. More important, the whole country will lose.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

“I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is 'Abortion', because it is a war against the child... A direct killing of the innocent child, 'Murder' by the mother herself... And if we can accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love... And we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts...”
― Mother Teresa

On any of the other site where you are supposed to be able to discuss the issues..if you write anything that criticizes Obama, the Democrats, ObamaCare...you are attacked viciously and called all sorts of negative names. When I complained to SparkPeople management about this..I was told..."people just get a little carried away when there are political discussions...". I am speaking right now about my experience with the Soapbox site. It is really depressing. I sometimes really wondered if they were in the pay of the Obama Administration.

Sharing what was shared with me...

A HAPPY MUSLIM

Everyone seems to be wondering why Muslim Terrorists are so quick to commit suicide.
Lets have a look at the evidence:

- No Christmas
- No television
- No nude women
- No football
- No pork chops
- No hot dogs
- No burgers
- No beer
- No bacon
- Rags for clothes
- Towels for hats
- Constant wailing from some idiot in a tower
- More than one wife
- More than one mother in law
- You can't shave
- Your wife can't shave
- You can't wash off the smell of donkey
- You cook over burning camel poop
- Your wife is picked by someone else for you - and your wife smells worse than your donkey
Then they tell you that "when you die, it all gets better"??

Well no (poop) Sherlock!....
It's not like it could get much worse
THE MUSLIMS ARE NOT HAPPY!

They're not happy in Gaza ..
They're not happy in Egypt ...
They're not happy in Libya ..
They're not happy in Morocco ...
They're not happy in Iran ..
They're not happy in Iraq ...
They're not happy in Yemen ...
They're not happy in Afghanistan ....
They're not happy in Pakistan ..
They're not happy in Syria ...
They're not happy in Lebanon ..

SO, WHERE ARE THEY HAPPY?

They're happy in Australia .
They're happy in Canada ..
They're happy in England ...
They're happy in France ...
They're happy in Italy ...
They're happy in Germany ...
They're happy in Sweden ...
They're happy in the USA ...
They're happy in Norway ...
They're happy in Holland ..
They're happy in Denmark ..

Basically, they're happy in every country that is not Muslim and unhappy in every country that is!

AND WHO DO THEY BLAME?

Not Islam.
Not their leadership.
Not themselves.

THEY BLAME THE COUNTRIES THEY ARE HAPPY IN!

AND THEN; They want to change those countries to be like....
THE COUNTRY THEY CAME FROM WHERE THEY WERE UNHAPPY!

Excuse me, but I can't help wondering...
How dumb can you get?

Just be aware that the message boards are open to all, and anyone can read them and object to a specific phrase or even a joke we post on this site. I made the mistake of joining a liberal political site and debated them, and one of their members then monitored this site to find a single post he could report to the coaches as "inappropriate", and without warning I was banned for life for a joke posted in our "off-topic" thread.

If I saw a lot of the usual negative progressive talk & comments I would've left SP a long time ago. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I just haven't seen any political talk at all. But then again, I go out of my way to be apolitical in everything I say or post on SP. It's been enlightening and interesting to read this thread.

Government controlling education is now instituted as Common Core. We have some very dedicated parents in our community fighting it in our state capitol. It is creeping fascism.

Obamacare is much more obvious as a government takeover of our health care system, a sixth of our entire economy. Besides its obvious redistribution of wealth a la communism, it is more fascist in nature with the intense regulation of private industries that deal in medical supplies, devices, instruments, appliances, etc., taxing them and adding huge regulations that are driving companies and medical personnel out of business, cutting jobs and forcing doctors to retire early.

Our educational system is controlled by Progressives. Here's an article about how students are being taught that the government is like a nation's family:

“Government is like a nation’s family. Families take care of children and make sure they are safe, healthy and educated, and free to enjoy life. Families encourage children to be independent hardworking and responsible,” it continues. “Families make and enforce rules and give appropriate punishments when rules are broken. Government does these things for its citizens, too.”

Of all the things that are outrageous, this one tops them all. This is blatant lying.

Also, Oprah equated Trayvon being killed to the lynching of Emmett Till. Dangerous words. Either Obama asked her to pour gasoline on the racism fire or she just wanted to receive Obama's favor and decided to do it on her own.

This weekend I attended the Reclaiming America for Christ conference in Moore, Oklahoma. David Barton, Pastor James Taylor, Pastor Paul Blair, and Rob McEwen all presented. I was impressed by all the speakers. Excellent information. I have a ton of new DVDs and CDs to learn from now.

The San Antonio City Council is about to adopt an ordinance that could get any Christian arrested for preaching the Bible or sharing their faith. They are looking at passing some nondiscrimination ordinances that would make it a crime to exhibit or express any form of bias that could offend someone.

The NSA Phone Snooping Cannot Be Challenged in Court, Feds Say. The federal government has responded to a lawsuit filed in response to its surveillance state programs, by arguing to a federal judge that “the wholesale vacuuming up of all phone-call metadata in the United States is in the “public interest,” does not breach the constitutional rights of Americans and cannot be challenged in a court of law.”

Obama’s IRS Appointee Scheduled WH Visit 1 Day After IRS Meeting on Tea Party
- See more at: http://cnsnews.com/news/article/obama-s-irs-appointee-scheduled-wh-visit-1-day-after-irs-meeting-tea-party#sthash.jIKuJynS.dpuf

CNSNews.com) – One day after an Aug. 4, 2011 meeting of IRS officials who gathered to discuss the handling of Tea Party tax-exemption applications, an appointment was made for William J. Wilkins, head of the IRS Chief Counsel’s office and one of only two political appointees there, to meet at the White House.

Four days later, on Aug. 9, 2011, Wilkins kept that appointment, according to White House visitor records.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) report on IRS scrutiny of Tea Party groups released in May of this year, states that on Aug. 4, 2011, officials from the IRS Chief Counsel’s office and the Rulings and Agreements office met to discuss the agency’s handling of Tea Party applications, “so that everyone would have the latest information on the issue.”

During a House Oversight Committee hearing on July 18, 2013, Carter Hull, an IRS employee of 48 years and expert in nonprofit tax law who had been assigned Tea Party applications since April 2010, testified that he attended a meeting in August 2011 where employees of the Chief Counsel’s office were present. At that meeting, they discussed the handling of Tea Party tax-exemption applications.

“In August 2011, I attended a meeting at which the applications assigned to me were discussed,” said Hull in his prepared testimony. “I recall that Don Spellman, David Marshall, and Amy Franklin from Chief Counsel’s Office were at the meeting, as well as tax law specialists Justin Lowe, Hillary Goehausen and Ms. Kastenberg.”

“I recall that Ms. Franklin or someone else from Chief Counsel’s Office stated that more current information was needed for my [Tea Party] applications and that a second development letter should be sent to the applicants,” said Hull. “I also recall a discussion about the creation of a template development letter for the Tea Party applications. I expressed my opinion that a template was not a good idea, as there was a great deal of variance among the groups and each application needed to be developed according to its particular facts and circumstances.”

“After the August 2011 meeting, the [Tea Party] applications assigned to me were transferred to another tax law specialist, Ms. Goehausen,” said Hull. “After the applications were transferred, I had no further involvement with respect to the Tea Party applications.”

The TIGTA report lists an Aug. 4, 2011 meeting and also one on Aug. 10, 2011 but the event description for the latter is redacted. The report does not name the persons who attended the Aug. 4 meeting, and the IRS has said that Wilkins was not at that meeting.

Nonetheless, White House visitor access records show that on Aug. 5, 2011, an appointment was made for William J. Wilkins to meet, on Aug. 9, 2011, with Jamal Pope, who is special assistant for White House Initiatives at the Department of Commerce.

The records show that Wilkins was there on Aug. 9, arriving at 7:56 a.m. and then departing at 12:21 p.m.

When asked in May of this year if the subject of the Aug. 4, 2011 IRS meeting on Tea Party scrutiny was then communicated to the White House, Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters, “I’ll have to look at that. I don’t know that that’s the case. … The president found out about this through media reports on Friday. That’s how I found out about it."

"The White House Counsel’s Office was notified a few weeks ago, through the Treasury Department, about the Inspector General’s review and that it was coming to a conclusion," said Carney. "And that is a fairly routine matter, when an Inspector General review is being concluded and will be made public, that there is a notification.”

I think all of this shows where our government stands when it comes to a "terrorist" attack. They are going to ignore it.

As to Zimmerman, he was tried and convicted by the media before the trial ever started.

In another matter that has taken so long to settle: This comes from Mercury One:
Ft Hood Survivor Goes off on DOJ: ‘Not Only Am I Disappointed, I’m Embarrassed.’ Because the Ft. Hood Massacre was classified as “workplace violence” rather than a terrorist attack, “the brave men and women who were injured in the terrorist attack are not eligible for decorations, such as a Purple Heart, or combat-related benefits.” Sgt Alonzo Lunsford, who survived the attack, recently lambasted the Dept of Justice for intervening and reclassifying the incident to have the terrorist Nidal Hassan tried as a civilian and not a terrorist by a military tribunal.

I've been praying for George Zimmerman. I think he is being railroaded. I can't believe he is being called a "white Hispanic." CNN doesn't even consider that racist. Obama came out from the beginning and inserted himself in the situation. Think about all the innocent people killed in Chicago and that is just swept under the rug because they know they can do nothing about it.

Anti-Semitic “BDS” Movement Training is Potentially Illegal. Freeebeacon.com reports: “A pro-Israel legal center is investigating a Quaker-run summer camp that teaches college students how to run boycott campaigns against Israel to determine whether the activity runs afoul of New York state anti-boycott laws….The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign was officially launched by a network of pro-Palestinian groups in 2005 and seeks to use economic and cultural boycotts to isolate Israel, force the government’s hand on Palestinian negotiations, and evoke comparisons between the Jewish state and South Africa’s Apartheid regime. New York law prohibits “any person to boycott or blacklist…or otherwise discriminate against any person, because of the race, creed, color, national origin, sex, or disability of such person.” It also prohibits “any person willfully to do any act or refrain from doing any act which enables any such person to take such action.”

Data Hub for Affordable Care Act (“ObamaCare”) to Store Tax Return Info for 10 Years. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has said that “the ObamaCare data hub will "interact" with seven other federal agencies: Social Security Administration, the IRS, the Department of Homeland Security, the Veterans Administration, Office of Personnel Management, the Department of Defense and — believe it or not — the Peace Corps. Plus the Hub will plug into state Medicaid databases.” “Social Security numbers, income, family size, citizenship and immigration status, incarceration status, and enrollment status in other health plans,” will all be routed through the data hub, according to HHS. "The federal government is planning to quietly enact what could be the largest consolidation of personal data in the history of the republic," one expert noted.

Michelle Obama is suggesting that children's math problems not use "cupcake" and are replaced with some other word (can't think of the word right now) because the use of the word "cupcake" doesn't go along with her anti-obesity program. You already know how no student is allowed to use the word gun anymore on the bus or at school. It is all about control now days.

About regulations--- I think it was Rush, a few years ago when smoking was first stopped in public places, who questioned where it would end. You could smoke in the privacy of an apartment, but because of the ventilation, that was stopped ----- and that spread to your balcony, too. Even private homes and back yards came under scrutiny.

I'm not a smoker, and think it is a good thing that fewer and fewer people are smoking, but these regulations on our personal behavior can get out if hand. Maybe even backfire? Mayor
Bloomberg and his control of soda container size just makes people buy two smaller ones------ which total more ounces than the original!

From Mercury One:
Florida District Suspends Creepy ‘Iris Scanning Program’ Following Parent Complaints. EAGnews.org reports: “An unknown number of students who take the bus to three Polk County schools…were subjected to iris scans by Stanley Convergent Security Solutions…as part of a “pilot security program,”” A letter notifying parents and offering a chance to “opt-out” was sent to parents—after the initial scans took place. Due to parental uproar and raising awareness through the power of social media, the school board has since suspended the program.

"New" program reminds me of how the Soviets encouraged neighbors to rat out neighbors and children to rat out parents.
Palm Beach County sheriff gets $1 million for violence prevention unit amid questions about civil liberties, care for mentally ill
Y DARA KAM AND STACEY SINGER - PALM BEACH POST STAFF WRITERS

Florida House and Senate budget leaders have awarded Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw $1 million for a new violence prevention unit aimed at preventing tragedies like those in Newtown, Conn., and Aurora, Colo., from occurring on his turf.
Bradshaw plans to use the extra $1 million to launch “prevention intervention” units featuring specially trained deputies, mental health professionals and caseworkers. The teams will respond to citizen phone calls to a 24-hour hotline with a knock on the door and a referral to services, if needed.

The goal will be avoiding crime — and making sure law enforcement knows about potential powder kegs before tragedies occur, Bradshaw said. But the earmark, which is a one-time-only funding provision, provoked a debate Monday among mental health advocates and providers about the balance between civil liberties, privacy and protecting the public.

Bradshaw said his proposal is a first-of-its-kind in the nation, and he hopes it will become a model for the rest of the state like his gang prevention and pill-mill units.

“Every single incident, whether it’s Newtown, that movie theater, or the guy who spouts off at work and then goes home and kills his wife and two kids — in every single case, there were people who said they knew ahead of time that there was a problem,” Bradshaw said. “If the neighbor of the mom in Newtown had called somebody, this might have saved 25 kids’ lives.”

Bradshaw is readying a hotline and is planning public service announcements to encourage local citizens to report their neighbors, friends or family members if they fear they could harm themselves or others.

The goal won’t be to arrest troubled people but to get them help before there’s violence, Bradshaw said. As a side benefit, law enforcement will have needed information to keep a close eye on things.

“We want people to call us if the guy down the street says he hates the government, hates the mayor and he’s gonna shoot him,” Bradshaw said. “What does it hurt to have somebody knock on a door and ask, ‘Hey, is everything OK?’ ”

That’s enough for Senate budget chief Joe Negron, R-Stuart, who helped push through the funding last weekend.

He said he met with Bradshaw about the program and “got assurances from the sheriff that this is going to be done in a way that respects people’s autonomy and privacy, and that he makes sure to protect against people making false claims.”

Mental health advocates, however, worry about a potential new source of stigma, and the potential for erosion of the civil rights of people with mental illnesses.

“How are they possibly going to watch everybody who makes a comment like that? It’s subjective,” said Liz Downey, executive director of the Palm Beach County branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. “We don’t want to take away people’s civil liberties just because people aren’t behaving the way we think they should be.”

Bradshaw acknowledged the risk that anyone in a messy divorce or in a dispute with a neighbor could abuse the hotline. But, he said, he’s confident that his trained professionals will know how to sort out fact from fiction.

“We know how to sift through frivolous complaints,” he said.

The proposal still needs the blessing of Gov. Rick Scott, who has line-item veto authority.

But if it goes forward, Palm Beach County’s already stretched mental health and substance abuse providers could find themselves even busier. There is no ready source of funds once the $1 million runs its course, as there hasn’t been an increase to community mental health funding in many years.

“Our community agencies throughout the state don’t have the funds to meet the needs they have currently,” said Bob Sharpe, CEO of the Florida Council for Community Mental Health. “It sounds like it could work, but with no new funding we’d have to find it within existing resources.”

If Bradshaw’s teams can keep people out of crisis units and promote early intervention, that has the potential to save money, said Ann Berner, CEO of the Southeast Florida Behavioral Health Network, which manages mental health care payments for the state.

To be successful, however, there will have to be close coordination with the mental health providers, she said. For example, the county already pays for mobile crisis response teams at two nonprofit mental health providers, a service that includes a 24-hour crisis call center. They, too, are trained to de-escalate conflicts and refer troubled people to care. Which ones will respond when there’s a call from a school or a home? That will have to be clarified.

Also, after troubled people are identified by Bradshaw’s teams, then what? Who will pay for their care? The state? Medicaid? The county? The Palm Beach County Public Defender has a good program to ensure qualified people apply for the Social Security and Medicaid benefits they may need, she said. Some high-level conversations have started, but more are needed, Berner added.

“I think that would be an area we really need to collaborate on, and soon,” she said.

The $1 million Bradshaw won represents a third of what he had sought from the Legislature, but it’s a 10-fold bump from what was originally earmarked before House and Senate budget leaders finalized the state’s $74 billion budget over the weekend.

Alice Walker Urges Alicia Keys to Cancel Israel Performance and Why this is Relevant (Your Kids are Probably Reading Her Books in School!) Alice Walker’s petition to an R&B singer is not important, but if you’re a parent, knowing who Alice Walker is, may be. Alice Walker is an author whose controversial race-centered books are read in public schools as early as middle school (The Color Purple) and well into college (The Third Life of Grange Copefield), all across the nation. She is associated with Code Pink, and she has referred to Israel and the United States as terrorist organizations. She supports the anti-Semitic/anti-Zionist “Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions” (BDS) campaign against Israel—which is why she is pleading Alicia Keys to not perform there.

More incentive to lose weight. Through Obamacare, we can be financially penalized for not losing weight. Of course, we don't get to pick the weight we consider healthy--the government will decide that. I see that smokers will be penalized, too. I wonder who will be excused for unhealthy habits?
From Breitbart / Fox:
FOX NEWS: The Department of Health and Human Services has issued regulations for the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare, which allow health insurance companies to raise premiums up to 50% for smokers and up to 30% for overweight individuals--unless they participate in "wellness programs" provided by HHS.
Democratic lawmakers sold the controversial law to the public by claiming it would end discrimination by health insurers over pre-existing conditions and advanced age. The new regulations does allow for discrimination in these areas, including higher premiums for individuals with high blood pressure or high cholesterol.
Analysts express concerns that the penalties for smoking will disproportionately affect lower-income families. 30 May 2013

From Mercury One:

27 Members of Congress Petition to Grant Asylum to the Romeike Family. Earlier this month the Romeike Family, who fled Germany to avoid religious persecution and seeking the ability to homeschool their children, were denied political asylum in their appeal. Now, “twenty-seven members of Congress have lent their support to the Romeike family,” by signing a letter sent to the US Attorney General which declares “a decision to deny the Romeikes the opportunity to educate their children freely is a decision to abandon our commitment to freedom. Doing so would put America alongside those countries that believe children belong to the community or state.”

Congressman Marlin Stutzman’s (R-IN)letter was also signed by: Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.), Vicky Hartzler (R-Mo.), Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.), Bill Huizenga (R-Mich.), Randy Hultgren (R-Ill.), Doug LaMalfa (R-Calif.), Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), Luke Messer (R-Ind.), Jeff Miller (R-Fla.), Alan Nunnelee (R-Miss.), Stevan Pearce (R-N.M.), Joe Pitts (R-Pa.), Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.), Bill Posey (R-Fla.), Phil Roe (R-Tenn.), Todd Rokita (R-Ind.), Steve Scalise (R-La.), Steve Southerland (R-Fla.), Chris Stewart (R-Utah), Steve Stockman (R-Texas), Lee Terry (R-Neb.), Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.), and Daniel Webster (R-Fla.).

What The Syrian Civil War Is Really All About. According to SOFREP.com, “the media (and a lot of politicians) are attempting to paint a picture of the Syrian civil war as being about rebels desiring freedom from the tyrant Assad, the actual picture is much different…What we are seeing in the Syrian civil war is not entirely a civil war at all. It is a proxy war between multinational sectarian movements to determine which sect is going to dominate Islam.”

Utah Springs Surprise Tax on Massive NSA Data Center. Construction of the NSA’s 1 million square foot data center in Utah (the construction alone costs $1.5 billion) is scheduled to reach completion later this year. The compound will “intercept, analyze and store data passing through both domestic and foreign communications networks — including the e-mails, phone calls and Google search history of U.S. citizens.” It is so massive that it will cost an estimated $40 million per year in energy bills—well, actually it will likely cost more than that initial estimate now that “a new state law that could levy a 6% energy tax on the facility, the Salt Lake City Tribune reports. The NSA isn’t happy about it.” Oh, and by the way, they just love unannounced visitors at the Utah data center.

This comes from Bill Federer’s American Minute:

On January 13, 1947, U.S. Senate Chaplain Peter Marshall stated:
"The choice before us is plain: Christ or chaos, conviction or compromise, discipline or disintegration. I am rather tired of hearing about our rights...The time is come to hear about responsibilities...
America's future depends upon her accepting and demonstrating God's government."
Peter Marshall stated:
"The world has enough women who are popular. It needs more who are pure. We need women, and men, too, who would rather be morally right than socially correct."

War Memorials Left to Rot as Fixup Funds Dry Up. "Unfortunately this may have had its day in the sun," [the caretaker] said. "It's a World War I memorial but quite frankly, it looks like it's been through war." All over the nation, many war memorials are falling far into disrepair and they continue to decay because they no longer are valued in a way that grants them sufficient budgetary priority. In places like Hawaii, it’s hard to garner public support to restore a IWW Memorial when the alternate choice is to demolish it in favor of another public beach, because, you know, Hawaii is in such short supply. “We’re a nation of short memory,” one expert so sadly observed.

Happy Memorial Day!

Our ability to enjoy a long weekend was made possible by those who have died in service to this country.

May we remember all those who paid that ultimate price for our freedoms. Be safe and enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend. emoticon

Are All Telephone Calls Recorded and Accessible to the US Government? A former FBI counterterrorism agent was being interviewed on CNN recently when he nonchalantly confirmed the horrifying true reach of the surveillance state: that any conversation on any phone can be accessed by the federal government at any time, at will. Are some of those former students going to tell how they paid for their tuition from prostitute money? When some of those girls mentioned how they paid for college (not expressly any particular college) using money from being a ''courtier", I was open-jawed. They were very open about it!

Public University Uses Student Funds to Hire Prostitutes to Speak at Sex Conference. As indicated by the title “The Global Sex Industry: Exploring Transnational Feminism, Ecocriticism and Sex Workers Rights,” this was not a conference on human sex-trafficking or the crisis of sex-slavery. Instead this was a conference focused on advocacy. Instead of using mandatory student activity fees to keep tuition down, the (public) University of New Hampshire used those fees (and don't forget your tax-funding, residents of New Hampshire) to feature “speeches by strippers and prostitutes, some of whom were current and former UNH students.” That last group in the list begs the question: does UNH offer a degree in prostitution—if so, it seems the University is properly preparing them.

The mass shut down stretches across 32 states, and “The American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, a partnership of industry groups, reports that the number of coal plants slated for shutdown is five times greater than the EPA predicted would be forced to shut down due to its regulations.” Well, that’s what regulations are intended for; “safety” is just the effortless justification.

The NEA is interested in promoting "social justice."

FIGHT FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE: Ensure equitable educational opportunities and safe schools for every student
 Provide for adequate, equitable, and sustained funding for schools; fully fund critical programs such as Title I
of ESEA and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
 Provide federal incentive grants to support state efforts to implement education finance systems that provide
equitable and sufficient funding for each student
 Provide sustained and targeted support and research-based intervention strategies for struggling or “priority”
schools
 Eliminate unsafe and inequitable treatment of students due to bullying, harassment, or discriminatory
practices
 Require states and districts to submit equity and adequacy plans to eliminate disparities in educational
opportunity
 Ensure that all low-income children have access to high-quality early childhood education

I don't attend church services, but I pray every day. And my prayers are rarely for me. But I believe in the power of prayer, and the belief that there is a God who is almighty, and oversees all. God gave us free spirit and it is up to us as to how we use it.

Saying I believe in prayer, tho, it saddens me when I hear of someone who has been thru a crisis say that God was watching over him/ her. Does that mean that those who suffered didn't have God watching over them? Sigh.

Correcting the Top Survival Myths. Perhaps the most notable debunking included on this list: “#11. Myth: Praying won’t help you. Truth: Studies of the traits of survivors have noted one thing they all had in common was prayer, even if they didn't necessarily believe in god. Prayer helps keep one’s thoughts organized and mind focused. After all, the greatest survival skill one can have is to avoid panicking in an emergency, and instead to stay calm, organized, focused, decisive and determined.”

If Nancy Pelosi believes this, she is 100% hopeless. In fact, why did Senator Max Baucus just say that Obamacare was a train wreck?

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Monday that President Obama’s landmark healthcare reform law is helping to bring down the deficit.

"Many of the initiatives that he passed are what are coming to bear now, including the Affordable Care Act," Pelosi said in an interview with MSNBC's Chris Hayes. "The Affordable Care Act is bringing the cost of health care in our country down in both the public and private sector. And that is what is largely responsible for the deficit coming down."
