I have done couch to 5k in the past and am doing the SP plan this time around. I prefer the SP plan so far because the intervals are easier to remember/track.

I can and I will - watch me!

I did the C25k only because there was no SP plan at the time. Either one is good. Mixture of both is good. Anyway you want to do it is good.

It's all good! emoticon

I never really looked into Couch to 5k, and I joined this one because it was an SP plan. I really liked it; I felt like it was a good pace and I feel it transitions into the SP running program well, which is what I am starting this week.

I loved the SP plan! I finished my first 5K two weeks ago and did another one last weekend! It was just so easy to follow and I started adding more running time each week, so now I can go about 12 minutes before needing to walk for a minute. Find what works for you and go for it! Good luck :)

Glad to see this discussion here, since I've got a similar question.

What do folks think about mashing the two together? I'll be working this program both on the road (1 day) and on treadmill at the gym (2 days). I prefer Robert Ullrey's C25K podcast for the road because he gives good cues and includes supportive/motivating commentary. But for the treadmill I'm thinking I may prefer the SP program since the intervals would be simpler to track with the timer in front of me.

Thoughts?

It is a personal preference. I'm doing the SP 5K your way and my cousin is doing a C25K using an app on her phone. We are both seeing results.

Whatever you choose to use will work.

I think the SP plan is easier, however I like that there is an app on my iphone for the other...I agree that either way, it gets you where you want to be!

I'm doing the C25K because there is a free App on the Iphone that I can run which tells me when to jog and when to walk. It really helps motivate me.

I think it's personal preference. When I started running a couple years ago, this Spark plan wasn't here so I did the C25k.

I really don't think one is better then the other. They are both designed to get you running. There are many different training plans out there.

Both of these plans take approximately the same amount of time to complete but are quite different. What makes one more appropriate for a beginner than another? Does it matter which one you choose?
