I am happy to be back friends. I already started and training my way to another 5K, started last week and in my week 2 tomorrow. I am happy to be back running.
My most urgent need now is a FitBit, because I feel I prefer running outdoors than on the treadmill. Outdoor is more exciting and real.
Work while it is still day, night is coming when no man can work again.
It so sad, I may not be able to walk/jog as I desired this month. I always do it at the gym and I am little sure now that I would not be able to raise enough dough to renew my membership fee (monthly). Although I intend to ask next week if I can run on basketball court without any fee involved, if I can then my dreams of training for another 5k will be actualized.

Am I a runner? Yes, I think so. I do at least 5 miles per week, though 3 miles walk with Leslie out of this 5 miles and remainder 2 miles at the gym. I do enjoy running and these days I do not pant.
This is an improvement to what I have always had. Before this year runs out, I am sure to run my 5k in 30 mins, I WILL DO IT.

I was hoping to get runs in today but I am not sure that is visible anymore (my bad). It's some situations that were just beyond me, I hope to do better next week. Meanwhile I may have to log some jog in place today just to be in the mood and shape of running.

Wow!!! Looking back again, I feel so challenged to do this again before the year runs out. I should look out and get myself prepared for another virtual 5k race before this year runs to an end. Watch out for me.

Woohoo I did it. Ran my first 5K today and it was awesome, I wanted to just stop, I was almost loosing my breath but I was determined to do it or else I will have nothing to write here tonight. I was fine after the run and I was settled too. I will post a blog tomorrow on this first 5K and how accomplished it made me. I can do it and I am happy for myself.

Woohoo I am done with week 7 today and starting week 8 tomorrow. My bad I could not run for a whole week cos or some pains. I should have used the whole of this week to rest and get more energy for my virtual 5K by June. All is well that ends well anyways. I am happy to do it tomorrow.

Sounds good! And remember, not all runs will be good. But the bad runs only make the good runs much better :)

I started week 7 today and what can I say 'splendid'. I was already scared of run/walk for 35 minutes today so I got my MP3 player handy and it helped me a lot. I ran and walked with all the strength in me and I did it. Better days are here

Thanks K and Suezette, for cheering me up. I could only log 1.77miles today in 32 minutes, because my knees were giving way and I felt so tired and worn out. So I decided to take the day off tomorrow. I will conclude my week 6 Day 3 by Sunday all things being equal.

Its Week 5 Day 1 today,
I think this is going to be the most challenging of all the weeks/runs. I ran 1.8miles in 30 mins today and am so happy about it. I know by the time am done and ready to run my first 5K, it should not be so hard

That is awesome NAIJAPIKIN. Great goals. I like the running for endurance and THEN doing it for time. I'll add that to my goal. I am terrified it will take me an hour to run the 5k. Not sure I could hold up. I keep forgetting we are "training" for it:) I always look to far ahead and have a difficult time connecting the dots!
You can do it!!!
BTW... congrats on your weight loss. Checked out your page. That's wonderful.

I see myself presently running for endurance and not for speed. I have signed up for a virtual race in June which I am sure will do on a treadmill. I don't care what the time says but it must be 5k. I will try to run all through the race walking only when too exhausted. After my first 5k, I will continue running till I can do 5k in 30 minutes and even less.

C Why do we do that to ourselves? Me too. I know that i never thought that I would run minutes at a time and look, I am. A 5K is something we can do.
Here is what I think we should do. Find a race for a cause. If we are not able to do it for a major reason, we will know the money is going to a great cause and helping someone. Even if we can't run the whole way we TRY to! If we are last, who cares. We can say we did it and that is more than many can say. We get our times and sign up for another and better our times the next time. We can do it! May hurt like heck the next day, but we will recover and I don't think anyone would laugh:) I want one of those pics showing me DOING it. I want one of those numbers pinned on me like Suezette414:)
I'm going to look around for another race. You just inspired me to set aside my fears. Thanks!

K, I've been wary of signing up for a race, too. Right now I am running on a treadmill and I'm afraid that committing to a real race will just be embarrassing. All the what-ifs... what if it's too different and so much harder to run on hills and streets. What if I am so slow that I'm the last one to cross the finish line. SCARY!

Am on point. I started week four yesterday and it was fantastic. Running for 3 minutes non-stop was quite challenging and I was happy I did it. Thanks so much for all those words of encouragment, it meant a lot to me.

Congrats to both of you:) I am finally back at it and doing suprisingly (for me) pretty well. Gets easier every day. Haven't signed up for a race yet. We have a local race that I am shooting for in June. I should just put the fear aside and say "I can do it"

I am presently in my week 3 of the 5K your way Rookie Running Program. I am doing well. I am in my day 2 of the 3rd week. I wish to run my first 5k virtual race in June, and to run well as much as I can in subsequent years to come.
