Awesome! I don't think I've met anyone from South Africa! Glad you have found SP!

I'm from South Africa and we use km. Since I've been on SP I've been using the converter on my cell to check what I've been doing so that I can track in miles on the fitness tracker. It's such a small thing in comparison to all the positive things on SP that it hasn't bothered me but it took some getting used to. It's so nice to read about all the places that the SP people are from. We are certainly from all over the world! Awesome!

I guess that can be confusing, thankfully my treadmill is in miles and that is the acceptable measure for me.

Actually, most of us Brits prefer miles too.
All of our roadsigns are in miles - so we know what you are talking about
Unfortunately, being part of the European Union means that new equipment such as treadmills and new cars all have KM counters instead of miles.
We hate it too.

Kilometers are the common distance from modern olympics and I've read that the 5K was just the next progression from track running to a street distance. Since SP originated in the U.S. and we still work in miles it is just a common occurance to train in miles. So set your treadmill for miles or just get in the ballpark in the km setting.

I can't be the first to ask this but...
since we are working towards a 5K walk
and most modern treadmills work in Km's
Why are we working in miles?
I know that a mile is 1.61km which is OK but it get's more tricky as we get towards 1.75 miles and things like that.
