I have signed up for the 5k. I am happy to see that I am not the only newbie doing the 5k this month. I loved the name and I am doing the walking program, but I just got out of a cast and the leg and ankle are not fully healed yet. But I am doing it anyway!
So I am on week 2, and I walk almost 2 miles per day anyway, so I figured it should be cool enough to keep the mosquitos at bay so I can walk my 5k around my yard by the end of this month. I almost got carried away by mosquitos and horse flies yesterday. May need to do my walking inside!

Just don't have time for a lot of posting at the moment. Work is CRAZY and I'm gettin' home so LATE! (after midnight) I live in "college" town (ASU) and it has been Home Coming Week.
TONIGHT is Home Coming and they are makin' all the servers come in 1-2 hours early. They expect we will end up on 1-2 hour waits for seating.
Lord, give me strength and my legs power to "Run*Forest Run tonight!
I will get one heck of a 7 hr. work-related work-out tonight!

I believe I'll pick a day this week and go walk it... I haven't trained because I don't think I need to even if I haven't been walking lately. I'll report back on how that worked out and maybe by next year I'll be able to train and manage a walk 'n' jog! I've been reading www.amazon.com/The-Competitor-in-Me-ebook/ dp/B007UOZGKS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1 349612135&sr=8-1&keywords=the+competit or+in+me this book and it's pretty motivating. However, at 65, I'm not planning to turn into a tri-athlete... just want to be able to run a little again & I believe I can!

I don't seem to be losing weight but I do seem to be losing inches. I can't do protein shakes so I rely on my willpower & getting up & moving. I'm hoping someday everything will all come together.

I have not been this weight in over 10 years!
I have now lost 32.9 lbs in a year!

At this time, I should have 10 lbs. left to lose to reach GOAL/Start Maintaining.
I will not know until I reach 155. (I'm 39 and 5'9) My tummy, hips and inner-thighs are still hanging on to fat. I may have to lose a little more which of course will be doable!
I don't want to start a "race" all of a sudden.. I'm still on a journey and my Goal for now is to reach 155!

Prevention Mag (online) has a shop with great walking work outs for indoors.
I use them a lot when the weather does not permit.

Been having a hard time getting my walks in at night. Last night I got home to late & just walked in place till i hit the miles I wanted to do. probably took longer but I did it anyway. Felt good too!

HI CALLMECARRIE, Glad to see some one else that signed up for the Trick or Treat trot I did my first this summer, but wasn't sure how that would go, but it did.I walked it and my youngest daughter ran. I just started with a little at a time, and now i'm going to do another. Hope that there will be more to come. Like A Winter or Christmas I would love that. I signed up too for the 5K. I'm a little nervous -- never done anything like this before. I'm a bookish, sedentary person, and it's a challnge for me to think of myself as someone who does a 5K. But I do a mile and a half every morning, and it's not that hard -- so I think I can do this.

I am doing a 10k walk the end of Oct, so I am really looking forward to "upping" my walk times and distances.
I didnt see an actual "trainer", thats what has me thinking I might have done something wrong. I took the 5k trainer from this plan and have just been doubling the times and distances.
