You are so right Janet. I am 65 years old and just learned to love walking. It doesn't matter how far or for how long just that I am walking. I know it is an encourgement to others to see seniors moving and they hope to be doing the same or better when they are our age. Age is just a number, get out there and have fun.

I don't know about age categories in a VR, but in reality, most races have age categories based on 10 year increments.

I do have to say that age has very little to do with speed. I have had many a 70+ year young person blow me out of the water on races, whether they do it running or walking; and I have done the same to many 20-30 years my junior. When I talk with those who have experienced more life than I have, the one thing I always say is that I hope I am still able to walk distance and do races when I'm their age.

Age and speed do not go hand in hand necessarily. And when they do, we always say, "I don't have to get faster, I just have to get older." So just prove to us young whipper snappers that it has everything to do with doing the distance, not how long it takes.

I kind of wish there were more age categories beyond 46+. I'd love a category for us 60+ folk. So far I am the slowest yet to report in the 46+ category (which makes me the slowest thus far, period.) At age 62 I am not the same person I was at 46 and certainly not as speedy. Anybody else out there think it is more than a bit unfair to lump us senior citizens in with those 50 year old kids? I am not complaining--it doesn't really matter if I win, just so I waddle the distance--just saying it would be nice to be able to use the filter to see how many other seniors are virtual racing along with me.
