I am trying to get off NSAIDs (specifically Naprosyn). Have been using enzymes (Medizyme plus Bromelain) on recommendation of a book and a friend - they are supposed to reduce inflammation, and I think they really do. They do not remove all the pain, however, since the joint damage is still there (knees and hip; the hip is the worst). So, I have read that the next step is Sam-e (plus high quality B-complex, since the Sam-e is said to deplete the B's). This is supposed to further reduce the inflammation, reduce the pain and help the cartilage. I start taking that next week. Glucosamine with MSM will follow that. Everything has to be given 4 to 8 weeks to see if it does anything, and I have to have my blood tested because I take blood thinners, and things need to be adjusted if other meds affect blood counts.
Has anyone else been through a process of testing like this? What has worked for you? I still have to take the NSAIDs - but usually only on days that have arthritis warnings on the Accuweather site.
Any info would help. Including how many pounds did it take you before your arthritis pain was lessened?
Glad to be able to chat, and ask my questions.....hoping to hear from you.
One day at a time; slow and steady. I just wish I were more steady and that the weight did not come off so slowly!!
