Oh Bev...I thought of you and your 1-2-3 cakes when I saw this recipe!

For those days you just want to make one cookie... 1 tbsp. butter, melted 1 tbsp. white sugar 1 tbsp. brown sugar 3 drops of vanilla pinch of salt 1 egg yolk 1/4 c. flour 2 tbsp. chocolate chips MICROWAVE 40-60 SEC IN A CUP OR BOWL. {single serving} deep dish chocolate chip cookie

sounds yummy

I agree. I sometimes do better eating out, because I limit myself, than staying at home and grazing at night. I usually do puzzles at night to stay out of the kitchen, but I am doing such a difficult puzzle right now that I am not temped to continue. Have to scrap this one and begin one that will keep me going. emoticon

Those are for sure on my do not buy list. I went to SPROUTS and had my hand on the handle to pour out Dark Chocolate Covered Cherries. I immediately pulled back my hand because I know I would eat them all before I got home. Congrats on losing 2 lbs. I know the feeling and it is awesome. I just have to get back to tracking. Bev

Shelly, yes I did good but I am not tracking and I should be kicking myself. I made a recipe that I saw on TV and I looked it up on Pillsbury website and because I had all the ingredients (if I didn't use the hamburger meat, I would lose it) I made it and it was awesome, in fact soo damn awesome I ate the whole thing. Shame on me, shame on me. Today I went back on track. So far today tried the new Fish Bites at MickyD's and my no fat, sugar free drink at Starbucks. Still not hungry but the min I turn on the TV I will be wanting something to eat. Might do the kellogs cereal with strawberries and add some fresh strawberries and blueberries with Silk Almond milk and call it a day. Bev

JOANNHUNT - Actually I was pleased with my WI at WW. with all my eating out challenges I gained .2. That is pretty good for me. I don't have any more challenges coming up until next Thursday we are eating out at Sammy (Haggar's) Hawaiian Bar and Grill. I keep checking online to see about a menu and it looks like they finally posted something, so I will be able to choose what I want to eat before I get there. I belong to a book club and I just got the book from the library and it looks very challenging. We meet every two months and it is a Pot Luck and the food is indicative of the food in the book. The book in Morocco was a food challenge for me, I had never had Moroccan food and I hope never to have it again LOL. Some of the members are Vegetarians so it is hard to make things for them. I just bring a dessert and everyone seems to like whatever I bring. The vegetarians pass, but it is their choice.

SCATDOG - I guess we are on the same page in more ways than one. I tape all of the Hallmark movies and watch them on Sat and Sun. I went to lunch at Outback Steakhouse and think I did pretty good, had water w/lemon to drink. Grilled shrimp Appetizer and a small house salad with dressing on side and didn't finish dressing. Now on the the Pot Luck tonight. Heard it will be hamburgers and hot dogs. I am bringing a salad, so as long as I stay away from the dessert table i might be OK. fingers crossed. Hard to track Pot Lucks. I usually try to only get about a T of things. I weigh in at WW tomorrow so it may not be pretty. I had Chinese last Wed and the sodium does a number on me. I just keep going. Bev

Yes Bev you are right I think we do have a lot in common! I never tire of my favorite foods either. I did weight watchers many years ago but did not make any friendships or lose that much weight. The best time I lost weight I had a walking buddy...wish I could do that again...I like to have the partner to exercise with :( I need to be motivated! I was laid off from my job over 2 years ago and I really miss the people time....I find myself with way too much free time that I waste on the puter or napping! I do keep up with the cleaning but not stuff like cleaning out cupboards or closets...that just seems overwhelming to me. I helped a friend shovel her driveway yesterday and I sure can feel it today! Well have fun with your group tomorrow!

Scatdog - Hi I have been doing WW for 12 years. I initially lost 65 lbs which wasn't too bad, but changed jobs and changed leaders and times and as the program changed I put the weight back on a little at a time, now I am debating whether or not to drop WW and just stick with SP. I have met sooo many wonderful friends at WW that it is hard to cut them loose. BTW they are all having the same problems as myself. I go to a Senior Meeting and everyone is around my age, so we share in all the aches and pains together. We all have walkers and canes to navigate. LOL I have a luncheon tomorrow with the gals from my former WW meeting and we are going to Outback. I already checked the website to see what I can eat. I just hope I can stick to it. Then on Tuesday a Pot Luck here in the park, and weigh in at WW on Wed. I am optimistic that I can do good. HA! I used to have a Donut Shop, Pizza Place and Liquor Store for 32 years (not at the same time) There wasn't a donut I didn't eat every day or be creative with the icings, same goes for pizza. But my weight didn't escalate till I had the donut shops. (my last venture) I would eat donuts for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I loved an Apple Fritter with Maple Icing and sprinkles. I never tired of them. People would ask me if I got tired of them. NEVER tired of any of the foods, I wish I had. I think we have lots in common. Bev

I tried knitting and got too lost. Happy with crochet. Started an afghan for my son in Oregon for his king size bed 5 years ago. Now that I am with a scheduled class on Monday's I drug it out again and doing really good and hopefully by the end of the year I will have it done. LOL Sorry to hear you were not feeling well. One of the gals in the crochet class made me 7 scarfs, all I had to do was bring her the yarn, and she knit them for me. They are rather decorative and ruffles and lacy. My daughter and family just moved to Colorado so I am having her knit scarfs for them. I had a really, really bad day on Wed. Went for Chinese Food after my WW meeting, (didn't weigh in, because of Super Bowl LOL) Figured my sodium to be at 5400 mg instead of the 1500 I am supposed to have. It will take 48 hours to get rid of the sodium, hoping I will because I am eating out with the gals on Sunday for lunch and then a Park Pot Luck on Tuesday. Life is just getting in the way of my weight loss. I wish I had the willpower to just eat rabbit food. Bev

Hi Bev...been away, have had stomach flu...ick!!
I love the commercials also for the game...budweiser horse one was adorable! We had my grandson's 4th birthday party that day also.
I LOVE Trader Joe's!!! but none around here...I know it because I went to one in NC when I was at my daughters.
What are you working on? knit or crochet? I love to do all that hobby stuff too, I am working on granny square spreads for my two granddaughters, the squares have stand out owls and hearts, then I am going to back them with some owl flannel.

How about a Trader Joe's? They have lots of Gluten Free foods. I was just shopping at Sprouts and saw all the gluten free foods and thought of you. I am sad my team lost at the Super Bowl, but I enjoy the commercials. I always like the Budweiser commercials, that are so nice. I didn't really eat too much and that was good for me. Today I went to my knitting/crocheting class here in the park and then went grocery shopping, just came home 5:30 pm and it dawned on me I haven't eaten all day, so I gotta get something or I will be grazing all night.

No, none of those places by us. We do have a great amish shop that carries gluten free that I need and will let me get as little as I want. Our grocery store has quite a selection and a health hutt here too. Many are getting more as more people are getting this. I love bread too, but I have learned to do with out...since he doesn't eat it I can't go through a full loaf so I freeze it in two's but forget it is there. glad they do not deliver here! :) I just ate birthday cake, I love buttercream frosting and can eat it by the spoonful.

I was surprised to see what a challenge you have to keep the foods separate and not able to contaminate foods. Makes my challenge so much easier. Do you have a Whole Foods or Sprouts or Sunshine grocery store near you? They cater to you and your husband's needs. Bread is my downfall, I have a hard time not eating it. Here in my Sr Park they deliver bread from a local store on Friday and Sunday for FREE. They have different breads, bagels, sweets. I have to try and stay out of the community center on those days unless I need a loaf of bread.

Yes, it can be a challenge...we even have to have seperate toasters! Mostly I keep my stuff on one side of the kitchen and if I use butter or mayo or anything that could be cross contaminated I will scoop out what I think I will use and throw away what I did not use because just dipping my knife back in the jar will contaminate it. If I make like BLT's I make his first, then mine so no slip up on his. as far as the pasta's go, rice pasta isn't bad and I will eat that with him. mostly I make seperate when bread is involved. The cost is crazy too..the pretzels he likes are $7 for a little bag and are from Israel. I was eating them too but then said I can have the $1 ones! His bread is $4.99 for 5 slices! But he has to eat that way. Mostly he loves meat and potato and salads, so he can have that

SCATDOG - - Wow, sounds like you have lots of challenges besides losing weight. Glad you insisted on Doc testing his blood. Now if I am not mistaken, you have to have gluten foods and your husband has to be gluten free foods. Does that not make for an interesting mealtime? As you can see I love easy recipes and the least amount of ingredients the better. Bev

Bev...ooooo another great sounding recipe. Celiac disease is where you can not eat any gluten so the only grains he can have are corn and rice. there is gluten in many things. so he has to be very careful. one crouton in his salad will contaiminate it all and he could get sick. He lost 65 pounds and was gray in color when I insisted the dr ck his blood. He had almost no magnesium because celiac kills the part in the small intestines that absorbs nutrients. Now he stays gluten free and feels better.

Glad you liked the recipes. I never send on something I haven't already tried myself. I also make another one that is very healthy, if my son knew what I put in it, he wouldn't eat it. I use a Spice Cake Mix and a 15 oz can of Pure Pumpkin, mix and bake for 30 min at 350 degrees. I cook up about 5 apples, peeled, cored and sliced. I put the apples in a pan with a tad of water and when they start to get soft add Brown Sugar Splenda and chopped walnuts and put over cooled cake. Won a price at work with that one. When it comes to calories, I have an unlimited mind. LOL. As you can see, I love simple. Bev

Anything is worth a try. I have tried many gluten free foods and didn't notice much of a difference. Everything is trial and error. What is Celliac? not familiar with that one. I went to my knitting/crocheting class this morning and one of the gals came in and told us she has a brain tumor, but the dr is not concerned because he said it was too small to be worried about it. She was freaking out and I don't blame her. I live in a Senior Park, so someone aways has something wrong. You should hear the conversations sometime. Bev

SCATDOG - Lite Lemon Bars are to die for and simple and diet friendly. All it is is three ingredients:

1 Angel Food Cake Mix
1 Box SF FF Instant Vanilla Pudding (I found Lemon)
1 Box SF Lemon Jello

You mix the Pudding with 2 C milk (I used FF 1/2 and 1/2), stir and let sit for 5 min till it begins to set, then add Jello and cake mix and stir till all mixed, pour into a 13" x 9" (or whatever you want to use) and bake for 30 min at 350 degrees, or till knife comes out clean. I cut into 20 bars and sprinkled with a little powdered sugar.

Cal 88, Carb 21, Sod 220, Prot 2 NO FAT, NO FIBER...Enjoy

Oooooo Bev!! 3 2 1 cake sounds wonderful!! wow! will have to try that. especially since I made chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting and ate FOUR at once and called it my lunch...yes I logged it in here too :) but then I felt sick! an individual would be great and with extra dark choc put in :) by the way I love buckwheat pancakes!! yum. thanks for the tip :)

PS didd you figure out the calorie count on the cake?

I wish I liked almonds. I like walnuts and put them in everything especially pancakes. I have been craving pancakes lately. I have some buckwheat pancake mix and I think I will make them for dinner.

Whenever I get an urge for something sweet, I have a recipe to make an individual cake. It is called a 3 2 1 Cake. It is awesome and satisfies me and I don't have a whole cake to tempt me. You take 3 T of the mix, 2 T of water mix and microwave for 1 minute. I made it last night with a few chocolate chips and I was in heaven. It is one Angel Food Cake Mix, any other cake mix. (Chocolate, Spice, Strawberry, etc) mix the two mixes together really good and put it in a sealed container. Whenever you need something sweet you just take 3 T of the mix, and mix with 2 T water and then microwave it for 1 min. I used Strawberry to make sure I was able to mix the cakes together. One of my friends used the Chocolate cake mix and she said it was great. I hope this might be helpful, especially for the chocolate lover Scatdog LOL

No I don't make my own, but I have the recipe and plan on it. I had a jar given to me at Christmas by my granddaughter and I got addicted. They are soooo good. Almonds are good for you, but not this way and a whole 450 gram jar in 2 hours. NOT GOOD. I good cleaned out though. HAHA LOL Thank You for your advice on making them myself. No problem on the assumption. Appreciate any input. Found them in a Giant Tiger store with a price tag of $8.97 on it and when I got to the counter found out they were on for $2.24 so went back for more. I haven't touched them in 2 days and don't intend to open anymore jars soon. The only good thing is the jars are glass canisters when empty. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I have the almonds in the house but I never seem to grab them for a snack. Every now and again I get a carmel rice cake and put either hummus or peanut butter on it and that is my snack at night with a cup of tea. Sometimes it satisfies me and other times I want more, not because I am hungry but because it tastes good.

JoannHunt - why not make your own cinnamon almonds? It's easy enough to do, and very little hassle. Then you'll know you have something really healthy, rather than bought products with all the extra fats, sugars, and additives.
And my apologies for making assumptions, if that's what you already do.

That is like me, I cannot have certain foods in the house because I will eat them till they are gone. Chips and Ice Cream are no no's for me. I bought a bag of chips and was very good and divided them into 8 individual bags and one night I had 8 empty bags in front of me. I just know I cannot be trusted with a bag in the house.

I agree with the comments already made.
Alcohol & sugar, salt or MSG, chemicals (the -ites and the -ates) - I really should steer clear of them. And I know when I haven't. And it's cumulative, so having to start and cut everything again means that I'd take a number of days before I'd start to feel any benefit.
I try to keep my lapses restricted, but not completely banned - just watch that I don't have too many of my problems in any one day!

excess sodium has adverse reaction to me, I don't lose weight and retain water. I just think that weaning you off meds might have a reaction to your body. Just take it one day at a time.

I too have a problem with alcohol and RA. Salt is a craving of mine, but have to be careful not to have a setback. Meds only go so far.

just wondering.....yesterday I saw my RA dr and I felt great!! my blood work was great!! I've lost 13 pounds since end of Sept....He congratulated me on that, doing it in the winter/holiday months. I worked my way off Methotrxtat (?) since 09 and only am on onlyy one plaqunil (which works good for me and I tolerate well) he told me to go to one every odd day and in 6 mth we will see if I can wean me off it....I was SOOOO excited and now i get up and I feel like I have been run over by a Mack Truck! Could I be flared up already? can you flare up on a moments notice? Could it be what I ate....I did reward myself ( :( ) with a donut...could it be the sugar? I know when I eat shrimp I get stiff the next day, my dad says the same thing with him. I have not searched into this much....but do you feel certain foods will set you off?
