Thanks for the reply. Cortisone didn't work for me either. Have only had one of the series of three Supartz injections (next one is tomorrow) Keeping my fingers crossed for results like your friend gets. I have a $50.00 dollar co-pay each time I go but get both knees done at the visit. If they work , it would be worth much more than that!
Cortisone never worked for me. Since the issue is my back Synvisc isn't an option, but I have a friend who has been using it for several years. I think she said it has to be injected every 6 or 8 months, but it makes her knees feel new again. She is 81 years old and gets around like she's about 60. It's not a drug, it's a substance that is injected between the bones and he cartilage to keep them from rubbing together, and it stops the pain immediately. If your insurance pays for it - go for it. Fran
I don't know how long it has been on the market but my brochure says it is the #1 choice worldwide. I've been told I need both knees replaced - just trying to hold off . I'm hoping the injections and weight loss will give me some time.

Never heard for Supartz, will GOOGLE it later on. Is it new on the market ? My girlfriend and cousin had the Synvisc shots but had to end up having the surgery. I am hoping to get my weight down and that should make a difference.

Oh my goodness, Joannhunt! I remember the days of cortizone shots in the heel. Of course that was 20 years ago and after I had my foot run over by a forklift, but I remember the agony. At times I almost wished for another forklift to come by than take another shot. I think that was when I developed my do or die attitude. =)

I have had cortizone shots in my shoulder, heels, and elbow and they worked for about 6 months. Seen a chiropracter for my heels and haven't had any problem for about 5 years now. Never had the Supartz shots or ever heard of them before. Hope they work for you. GOOD LUCK.
I WILL SUCCEED BECAUSE I KNOW I CAN DO IT AND I AM MOTIVATED.
I've had several cortisone shots in various parts of my body (knees, back, ankles) and they have never worked on me! Never tried the other shots you are talking about. Had bilateral total knee replacements with excellent results.

I'm a Synvisc-1 girl myself. Have tried Euflexa (sp?) and cortisone shots, but Synvisc is my drug of choice. I especially love the single dose version of Synvisc AND that my insurance will let me do both knees at the same time.
