Geez! my girl......
You've been through so much -- and you're attitude is so positive. That's great!

I wish you the best of luck with all you have ahead of you. But with your good attitude and the support you have - I know everything will turn out OK. And you'll be a thin, trim bombshell!!

Hang in there.....*I'd like to send you some smiles and a cheery picture -- but my computer isn't letting me post emoticons at the moment.

More hugs.
Libby

Gee MommaBear - - have you been reading my medical history or something? You sound just like me and with much of the same surgeries intestinal, hernias, knees, feet, ankles and infections!! My last intestional resection was in February and a triple hernia repair in April (only 2 were done laproscopically and the other was incisional). I also had a large mesh put in place but it sure does cause a lot of pain and discomfort. Did yours? I keep putting off another visit to the ortho as I'm afraid he'll have to go into the left knee again!! Reading your article was like reading my life history!! emoticon So glad you're doing better.

Thank you. Yes my doc is a ortho. He has done all my knee surgerys but 2 so he has put in a lot of hours in me.
However I have to have a abdominal reconstruction surrey first before my total knee another reason why we are doing so much to get me a few more years on this old knee. I am a high risk patient to, I tend to get infection after all my surgerys. I have had several hernia repairs but due to a allergic reaction to the mesh thy used in te 1st repair I had several infections and heal very very slowly. My last hernia repair turned in to 3 surgerys and 18 months to heal the wound. Some where alone the line in 18 surgerys I picked up a stran of staph. A type that no one can catch it just causes infections with any surgical wound I have. So. Unfortunatly I have to loose 30 just for that surgery so they can ake out all the damaged areas and then bring together the muscle and tissue closer to my sides,. The more I can loise the more damaged area they can take out. In a way a tummy tuck just higher up.. Then I have to be on a 6 month course of medication to rid my body of the staph stran because the staph could destroy the knee replacement. I had lost the weight for hat surgery lad year but then had to have a hystorectomy and it took 6 months to heal from and I regained the weight I lost for the abdominal surgery. It is a lot for a 38 yr old body. This is the first time I am all healed up and my plan is, that is if I have no issues with my new hernia I got hen they took some of the mess out, if things go good I plan to spend the rest of his year on me getting thinner and healthier. Loose as much as I can before the abdominal repair, heal from that then the 6 month anti-biotic theraphy. Hoping not to regain much weight within this 2-3 year period then my knee replacement. My daughter fingered since the hernia is sticking around we might as well name it hermon.
This is going to be a long process to become healthy after so many years of surgery, healing surgery healing. But I feel that I have a very good start and need to stay positive that everything will work out for the best and t the end finally I will be healthy happy and thinner and a new chance at life.

You go, girl!!
Prolong surgery as long as possible - and until you lose the weight you want to lose.

I could use two new knees.....but in my case, I have a history of blood clots and blood diseases. I'm a high risk patient (for future clots, infection etc) and most surgeons don't want to touch me. So I'm very familiar with all the 'little' and temporary procedures --- to give me time ---- precious time.

As I said....Keep up the good work. You sound like you have a wonderful doctor. Is he an orthopedist?

Take good care.
Hugs,
Libby

I know the shot is like a band aid and at some point it will rip off. But my knee doc is so happy with my weight loss he is will to the a Shot more often. I have my new tempory brace that is working good so far but he fitted me for a Unloaded brace, I think that is the name. It is a big brace but it is suppose to push my knee over to the right and hopefully take the pressure off the arthitis. We hope but we are waiting to see if insurance will pay for a 1,100$. Most of the time thy so no to this kind of brace but since I have already had 8 surgerys on this knee and have no options left but a knee replacement knee. My doc wants to try the shots with the brace, hopefully this new brace will keep me going but he is willing to do another scope to take some preasure off to. But our biggest hope is to try all this little stuff and give me time and maybe. Few more years before the replacement. So right now I am hoping the shot nd brace can keep me loosing the weight. I have 4 lbs to get to my 1st 20 lbs!!!! I just ant to take advantage of this time with less pain to the fullest!!!

Oh Melinda!!!!

How great to hear you sound so upbeat and proud of yourself. I intimately know the feeling of 'the absence of pain' that you get after a pain-relieving procedure ---- if it works! And in your case, it did. You feel invincible, right? Just please take it easy -- the shot is just masking the pain - not taking it away. You want to be careful not to make the condition worse.

And you are so right about losing weight. Every pound lost, relieves 40 pounds of pressure on your knees. Did you know that?? So == keep it up! You have found your groove --- so stay in the groove.

Again, many congratulations --- and good luck. You are on the right path!

Big happy hugs,
Libby

It has been so wonderful! I has so much less pain in my knee, I sleep better and when I get up I can stand up on my own without horrible pain in my left knee!!!! With the shot and new brace I have not wasted a moment. I have been able to get up and at the track at 7:30 every morning and walk 10 Laps!!!! 2 and 1/2 miles!!!! I know the hot will only last a short time but right now I feel like I have a second chance nd I am using it all. I lost 5 lbs this last 2weeks so my goal is another 4 lbs in the net 2weeks by my next doc appt. then I have lost my 1st 20lbs!!!!!!! I feel really proud of my and for the 1st time feel really good about myself!! I was fitted for a specialized brace a reloader or unloaded cant remember the name, it is suppose to push my knee over a little when I am up walking to take the preasure off the arthitis. We just hope my insurance oks it. Plus the company will resize it for the 1st 5 months for weight loss and I got to pick out the colors!!!! Metallic grey and purple. If it get approved I have compete faith in myself that I can keep loosing the weight. For the 1st time in my life I have faith in myself!!! And I decided when I get to my goal weight. I am going horse back riding!!!! Which I grew up doing and have missed it so much!!!
