Osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, and spinal neurosis. That's enough for me. I don't need the other sister (RA) in there.

The past 4 days have been so much achey joints for me, it has been difficult to do anything. It's nice to hear others talk about this. I only have OTC pain meds for this and at best, they tone down the pain, but don't eliminate it. I believe this "flare up" to be weather related, as when "fronts" move through our area, the air pressure changes seem to affect pain, even if it doesn't rain or snow. It is sometimes hard to tell what the cause is, as the weather effects are not always visible on the day of the pressure change. Summer can be just as bad as winter! I get frustrated with the unpredictability, and making plans to do things which can become difficult or impossible on bad days. So far, I'm only diagnosed with OA, but I'm not sure if that is enough to cause the all over joint pain that is this type of flare up. A recent blood test was negative for RA markers.

Do you have conditions besides osteo arthritis?

Thanks, mommabear for the app tip. I'll check that out.

It was a problem when I first started it. But now, after almost a year it is not a problem.

Be sure to watch for constipation seeing as how codeine is a big instigator at doing that.

My Rheumatologist prescribed pain meds for me to take at night before bed time. I now get 7-8 hours a sleep a night instead of 3-4. The pain is what was keeping me awake. Is it the pain that causes you to not be able to sleep?

Chronic insomnia goes along with pain--sometimes it's hard to tell whether the insomnia is from the pain or the pain is aggravated by not getting enough sleep/

Weather, temperature, humidity, high and low pressures, poor sleep, and over doing it all seem to cause it for me. I well also have days where I can not figure out what causes my arthritis and nerve pain.

Thank you very much MommaBear. Where do you get the trackers for your pain?
My pain was so bad that I couldn't even stand on my feet. I spent the whole day in bed.

I can relate between the arthritis throughout my body and the nerve damage it has causes I have days and more often than not it feels like the pain meds don't work like I wish. I am on several different ones i have to take 3 times a day to keep them at the therapeutic level. I use to not believe the weather could effect the level of pain but I know now it does. I have a seperate tracker I use to track the pain every day and have noticed on days the weather is either cold or really humid my pain level is higher. I have had to adjust my workout routines due to the pain. Some days I wake to pain so bad I am no sure I can tolerate a light workout. For a long time I have just giving into the pain. But I am trying to take my life back. After tracker my pain level and causes I can now adjust my daily activity and set small goals for myself for the day. Even though the pain is still there I can feel better bout myself at the end of the day. Some morning it feels like every joint every cell is on fire, after I take my meds I try a warm shower, sometime a warm soak really helps then I use my light resistance bands to help loosen my muscles. After I used the pain tracker I found on iTunes, there are several really nice ones. I feel I know my body better and my limits and can adjust my activity for the day. I would recommend to anyone that has to live with pain to either have a tracker or a pain journal. Knowing your body and the pain you have, listening to what your body has to say you might find a routine that works for you. I hope you start to feel better soon!

relate about the weather, but it was never any where near
like this.

The weather can make a major difference in how the arthritis feels! I've had two bilateral total knees and almost total reconstructed bilateral feet/ankles (not to mention the arthritis throughout the rest of my body) and can tell you when a weather change and/or a storm is coming the day before it arrives!! The pain becomes almost unbearable at times. emoticon emoticon

I've had my back, knees and hands all at once and it turned out the weather was causing my flair up, when it changed my meds and everything else started working.

Last week I was laid up where every joint and bone was so painful
and not even my perscription pain meds for my back would touch
it. I know I have arthritis, but it has never hit me like that before. Of
course I was thinking the worst which is normal for me by thinking
bone cancer! Sheesh, I scare myself to death because this never
happened to me before.
