I'm Don. I am a retired police (injured in LOD). Lack of mobility and a sitting side job that I needed to take has added 120 to my police academy weight. I was a police officer/violent crimes detective for 15 years before I was stupidly injured in a training accident. I need to get to my police weight. emoticon

I am a P.I. trying to be more like Thomas Magnum than Frank Cannon!

Hey Barbara-

I'm Sonia. I am a Records Manager / Crime Analyst for the local PD. While I don't have to do nights anymore (unless they are in dire needs), I hear ya. When I was a dispatcher and then Director of Communications, those swing shifts were horrendous.

I also have a lot of health problems and know how hard it is to fit in a healthy lifestyle with the lifestyle of being a sedentary desk worker.

Just added you as a friend and look forward to getting to know you and becoming friends during our journey.

It's also nice to have someone else in Law Enforcement. This team is not active at all, but maybe we can bring it back up!!

Hi all I'm Barbara and I am an assistant supervisor on one of our night shifts for my local sheriff's office dispatch. I have had issues with my weight all my life, it has finally taken hold of my health. I have Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure (of course our job doesn't add to that...lol), I just had to have my left knee replaced not to mention the aches and pains that comes with being overweight. When I was first diagnosed with diabetes I was able to drop the weight using Sparkpeople to help monitor my weight, food intake and exercise. I am hoping that I can get back into the program and do it again but this time for good. I am looking forward to getting to know others who have the same messed up work schedule and some of the same weight issues as myself and supporting etch other in our efforts to reach our goals. emoticon

Hello everyone. I am a 25 year old female currently working at a Federal Prison as a Senior Correctional Officer. I have my Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice along with several supporting certifications. I am currently working the night shift as the Number 1 in our Disciplinary Segregation Special Housing Unit. Fortunately for me this position requires a lot of walking and stair climbing. I have a two year old daughter and a husband of 3 1/2 years now. I enjoy fishing, boating, camping, and reading.

I started my actual weight loss mission 100% 7 days ago. I was holding at 210 lbs. I slowly dropped down to 198 over the last three months with some minor dietary changes and from taking a more active position at work. Once I hit 198 though the mission was started. I went to see my doctor to talk to him about weight loss. He put me on the "Paleo Diet", turned me on to a Kettle bell work out routine (GREAT for well endowed "chesty" women), and prescribed me the medication Adipex-P. I have been taking the medication for 3 days now. I started with having 50 pounds to lose to meet my first SparkPeople provided weight loss goal. I am currently 192.5 pounds.

With this group, might be helpful as we can all learn from each other how to stay active, do our shiftwork and balance our family life. Such a hard balance I find. And now that I am 46, I find shift work so hard. Would rather sleep longer than exercise. But trying to push through this!!!

Hi, I'm 38 and have been in law enforcement for the past 19 yrs. I have been with my current department for 15 of those years and 4 as a military police officer. I have been on night shift for the past 4 years! I have the hardest time getting people to relate to my lifestyle and it's wonderful to have a forum full of folks who know exactly what I'm going through at times. I look forward to all of the posts to come in the future. I've been on Spark since June of this year and have had pretty good consistency logging in. I have slacked of logging my food but hope to pick it back up. Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season!

One day at a time!

Afternoon all. I've been using Spark for a looong time now and I'm doing pretty well thanks to it.
I'm a member of the law enforcement community for some time now. I work in IT support for the UK's paedophile hunters and I'm also a special constable with the Metropolitan Police :)

Hi all! I'm a 29 year old police dispatcher. With working shiftwork and living the crazy, stressful lives of emergency services, it's really nice to have SparkPeople to fall back on. I'm loving the motivation and guidance I'm getting from SP!

I know with my crazy hours and work schedule that I find it hard to get any kind of workout time in. I think one of the hardest things I'm struggling with is thinking of working out as "me" time. I have been watching episodes of The Biggest Loser and that's one of their things they always say. The workout program is "Me" time because you are doing the program to make yourself healthier.

Hi! I am JR, I am 47, have a wonderful husband of 27 years, two fabulous college kids, and a cat. I work as a full-time dispatcher for our hospital campus police department. The hours can sometimes get a bit crazy, and my days off vary from week to week. I have what seems like a ton of weight to lose, and very little willpower. I have started sparkpeople more times than I can count, always promising myself that 'this is the time I will stick with it.' I have never really committed to regular group check ins or postings, but I am hoping that maybe this time, things will be different. I know that difference has to start with me, so...here it goes...and hopefully this will be the last 'first day' of sparking!

I am Michelle. I am a 21-year-old Criminal Justice and Psychology Major in California. I hope to apply to The Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center (SRPSTC) in October 2013. Before I can do that, I need to acquire a driver's license and get in better physical shape, the latter being the reason I joined SparkPeople and this team.

Sash - I'm another one of the co - leaders! It's nice to meet you.

I am a 31 year old dispatcher. Previously, I've dispatched mainly EMS but over the last two years after I moved to Idaho I started dispatching for the Idaho State Communications Center. We are, basically, the emergency response for the state. We do some rural EMS dispatching, scheduled HazMat conference calls and dispatch for the transportation department. it is the most interesting job I've ever had because it is always changing. I am the mother of 3 furry kids. My American Eskimo named Bailey, and two cats, tops and Niblets. I'm planning to put pictures of them up soon! I'm excited to meet everyone and get this post back up and running.
