Weigh-in for Sunday, November 25 (I weighed but forgot to get on here and go public!): 182
I'm very happy with this steady number! I didn't gain or lose over the holiday, which for me is great--past years have seen weight gains for the season already. I need to remember my goal of being down 3 by the new year and stay focused on the reason for the season and not the seasonal food! I hope everyone has a great day!

I must admit that I did better last year. We had more company this year and more baked goods in the house. I managed to have desert two nights in the row. WITH whipped cream.

Note to myself-
Eat smaller portions and more vegetables!

I ate exactly as I had planned for and was completely satisfied. This was the first year that I actually made a plan, and was very happy about how easy it was to stick with it. I did not feel deprived of anything. emoticon

Come here after Thanksgiving to share your stories with us.

Let us know did you accomplish your goals? Did you exercise? Did you over eat? Did you enjoy yourself? How was your trip? What could you have done different to accomplish your goals on Thanksgiving. Did you have a healthy recipe with you if you went to someone else dinner?

Share with us whatever you choose. But the most important thing is to tell us how healthy conscious you were on that day.

I ate small portions on the big day. Only indulged in foods that I normally don't have. Like oyster dressing. Yummy. I did not gain, I lost over the week.
I attended a Xmas party last night, ham dinner. I again had small portions. When the dessert came, berry and peach cobbler, I pick at the fruit inside and left the crust. I didn't leave the party feeling stuffed. Which some of the women were complaining that they over ate.
So far so good.
I still have a few parties and a out of town trip to get through. So I wish myself GOOD LUCK!!.

I was going to track my food everyday over the holidays (no matter how much I ate). I tracked some the 1st wk I started, then I got sick. and didn't track. Well, weeks have gone by and I just started tracking now. Better late than never.

I too admit that I ate unhealthy on thanksgiving (over ate) and the days following. The monday after thanksgiving I got back on track and have lost 8 lbs!! I'm sure most of that was water retention from all that I ate. I plan to continue to monitor my intake, exercise, and I do plan to eat whatever I want on Christmas day but it will not deter me from my continued efforts at weight loss.

I have to admit I paid attention to what I ate, so much so that I barely ate even a 1/4 of what I would normally eat over past holiday weekends so that was good. My dogs went with us to visit my family so I got in my workouts by walking them several times a day, that was a good thing. On black friday alone I walked 16789 steps so that was a good thing...My only downfall was too many margaritas. But I came away from the weekend with a 1 lb gain which I can finally contribute to my time of the month cause now that a week has passed I am back down 2.5 pounds. Whoo hoo!

I ate dessert two nights in a row, but they were small portions. One of them did not sit well in my stomach and that was ok with me. That'll keep me from wanting that again!

I ate way too much over the long weekend. Thanksgiving was not too bad, but I had to work all weekend and we were fed by the company. Olive Garden, Chinese Food and pizza. I indulged in all of it. I am getting back on track this week. I weighed myself this morning and I only gained three pounds. It could have been worse.

I was intending to come here and mourn my weight gain and blame it on drinking WAY too much over the weekend. But somehow I managed to lose weight! That'll show you - exercise is a big time important factor. I only missed one workout, and it was my Sunday morning sprints, which is my lightest workout of the week. And I was angry (my mom makes me crazy) while I was working out, so I pumped a little harder and a little longer.

I did manage to stay within spitting distance of plan (I had one more piece of pie total over the weekend than I had intended, and one more serving of cranberry sauce than I planned). Excepting the drinking. Which I didn't plan so much as say "I'll probably drink."

After several months of having 2 drinks per MONTH, I personally consumed about 2 bottles of wine. And two giant margaritas. Over 4 days.

If anything is really the downfall of me in the holiday season, it's drinking.

Non-weight-related goals:
* Run a mile in 10 minutes (SUCCESS! 9/16/2010)
* Run a mile continuously without walking (SUCCESS! 10/30/2010)
* Run 5k continuously without walking
* Run in a 5k race
* Snowboard for an entire day without needing my rescue inhaler (SUCCESS! 1/29/1011)
* Be comfortable in shorts

I had a plan..I did not stick with it. I ate WAY TOO MUCH for 4 1/2 days-Wed night, all day Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I was completely out of control. It is ridiculous the amounts of food I ate, and very little of it was healthy. I am back on track today, but can't get to Curves to workout until later this week. This is not good. Hopefully I did not gain TOO OOOOO much weight. I will weigh myself Friday and pray it's not going to be a bad as I think. WHY WHY WHY do I do this???

I had to be to work at 2 pm, so I spent time with my daughter in the morning but was too early for Thanksgiving dinner. I didn't get off work until 10 pm, so I missed dinner and so I didn't go over my calories for the day. She did send home leftovers for me, but I was careful and didn't go over my calories on Friday either! However, the cook at work made me a lemon pie and some pumpkin bread, and Saturday and Sunday at work, I always have a hard time not going over on the calories and the fat. I just weighed myself at the gym this morning and I have only gained one pound! So, I feel good about this holiday:)

I stayed within my range until Sunday when my family celebrated my birthday. We had cupcakes to portion out the cake appropriately, but I blew it with a new recipe my son made...Jalapeno Cornbread with Cheese & Sausage! OMG! I ate FOUR pieces and could have devoured the whole pan...glad birthdays only come once a year!

Ok. so now that ALL my Thanksgiving celebrations are over I finally got to weigh in at my own house on my own scale....I actually lost!!!!! It was only .4lbs but still it is a loss!
I tried really hard to just eat one small serving of the foods I really really liked & skipped the ones that were not so great to me.
Congrats to everyone for making it through the holiday.
On to the next one-yippee!

We had Thanksgiving dinner with the family on Sunday. I held the stuffing, mash potatoes, gravy and rolls! I had plenty of other things healthy to eat so I didn't feel deprived. The family was very supportive in my new way of eating. I also weighed in this morning with 2 lbs lost! emoticon

Thanksgiving in a nut shell:
Went to bed late the evening before, because I was tracking my calories for Thanksgiving and putting in my recipes. I awoke around 7am, but rolled out of bed around 8am. LOL! I decided I wanted to do a personal 5K Turkey Trot (since I wasn't ready for a real race), but I also wanted to get in some exercise. So, I did 3.77 miles on Thanksgiving.

Went to house#1 for the day and ate a serving of each: healthy green bean bake (I made), mock mashed potatoes (I made), healthy stuffing (I made), turkey and a half of slice of apple pie. I passed on the biscuits, gravy and snackies ahead of time. So happy!!!

House#2 - I had the same exact thing, with the exception of deviled eggs and seven layer salad and a half piece of pumpkin pie instead. I made a plate from house#1 and brought it with, so that I could easily track it. I felt a little silly, but it was family and they understood.

Spark wants my calories to be 1450-1800, however, I like to stay around 1200, so for the day I was at about 1300, so it was ALL GREAT!!! I felt good, not stuffed but certainly satisfied.

I had planned to go walking that night, but to be honest I was LAZY, so that didn't happen. Went to be fairly early and up early with the little one.

We went shopping and went to the mall. I had breakfast before and a melted cheese sandwich, but I still went to the food court and we got Panda Express. Grrr!! I was doing so well. I only ate half and brought the rest home for dinner. So, after all was said and done for the day, it wasn't that bad. I was at 1400, but a bit high on my sodium. Nothing that I am going to beat myself up about, but certainly be cautious of in the future.

I managed to lose .6 pounds this week, so I am happy. I think it would have been more, but my 'friend' came this morning, so I think I have some water retention. TMI!! LOL!!

Glad to hear that everyone survived and looking forward to moving right along!!

Thanksgiving Day went off without a hitch I tracked and measured and had a great meal. Skipped pie, ice cream and second helpings.
The day after was tough. I felt unreasonably hungry and every time I opened the fridge door I saw a wall of left over food, even though we sent a good bit of it away when the kids left last night. Grr. My inner toddler was stamping her foot and yelling for croissants and tortilla chips and pie. It was a real struggle, and I was pissy about it, but I left the pie, etc, alone. Last night I was cranky and sorry for myself about it, this morning, relieved and glad.

One thing with held me back was the knowledge that if I started eating sweets I would loose the ability to stop. I didn't want a bite. I wanted to eat the whole thing. As soon as I did, I'd be saying to myself 'I've blown it, so just keep going.' It really ignites a craving in me, not so much for pie as for 'more.'

Went to the farmer's market and have healthy, organic veggie soups simmering. I measured every ingredient going in and will measure the result, so I'll have an accurate calorie count per cup.

I roasted some odds and ends- delicata squash, fennel, a white turnip, summer squash and oyster mushroom and had some of them for lunch along with organic greens sauteed with garlic and poblano pepper. So happy to be eating this!

I'll weigh myself on my regular day, Thursday. I don't expect much if any loss this week, but no gain either.

Had a great Thanksgiving tried to make good choices and passed on some of the traditional items or took small portions. Snacked on veggies and fruit to prevent the nibbling that i usually do when cooking holiday meals. Didn't exercise, too busy cooking but walked extra Friday and Sat. The scale stayed the same 205lbs. Now comes Christmas and all those baked goodies.

I did okay until about 7:30 pm. I was at the high end of my calories (I was impressed that I did track!). But, by evening, I wanted to do a round 2. I made another plate, but kept it small. I estimated that I ended up going over about 400-500 calories. I figure that's not too bad, all things considered. The things I'm most proud of is that I made all things with low/non-fat products (milk, creams, soups...), and although I ate pie, I stuck with pumpkin and stayed away from the crust.

I wasn't able to exercise yesterday due to the weather (it never got above 25, so I opted to stay in). But, today I got to the gym and was happy with my workout.

I was upset because my scale this morning was THREE pounds higher, but I'm hoping that is due to salt. I've been sucking down water all day and staying away from salt and leftovers.

Sounds like others did really well! :)

Yesterday went pretty well. Got in 1.5 of exercise in the morning. At the inlaws had the big meal at noon, left the table without feeling like I was about to explode!
Visited for the afternoon & had supper w/them, after supper I found out that I am allergic to pistachios- see my blog entry for more details.

Woke up to a crsip frostie morning, and did a 5K turkey trot (and NO we did NOT trot, but walk at a brisk pace) Ate VERY light and ended up modifying menu somewhat since my granddaughter BEGGED for stuffing. AND make a huge green salad instead of broccoli.

Ate about 1/3 of what I normally eat, then packed up all the left over potatoes, dressing, gravy, stuffed mushrooms, craisins, cranberry sauce and pumpkin cheesecake and sent it ALL home with my son, along with a lot of turkey.

So this morning? Up .8 pounds. Not too bad, but I will say, I am SO glad we got rid of everything...I walked into the kitchen this morning, looking for left over stuffing and gravy...and was SO relieved we'd given it away.

Turkey is all off the bone, broth is simmering and by tonight there will be a huge pot of soup ready to eat.

Now, to get the Christmas tree up!

I had a good Thanksgiving. I just tried to remember it all and put it into my tracker. I skipped lunch for the most part and used the calories for dinner.

I was making a steamed persimmon pudding in the morning, for the potluck in the afternoon. It came out well and was a fun novelty at the dinner. I went to a party of my boyfriends old friends (one group, he is good at friends) and they were an older group of a majority of women 60's era psychologists / feminists. It was wonderful to be with so many women who were not particularly male centered. There were other guys around too, but every one was chatting very inclusively.

I spent the most calories on dessert. I included it as two pieces of higher calorie pumpkin bread. I think that is a good approximation of the amount. Perhaps I actually went over my calories--I just don't know.

I did have a headache, because I forgot to drink tea in the morning, and caffeine withdrawal is just not a good idea. It took all the party long but finally after the third small bottle of diet coke, the whole thing lifted.

Actually today is more of a challenge calorie-wise, because my boyfriend cooked me breakfast and lunch, and I have precious few calories left over for dinner, but both meals were late, so I should be ok with a dinner of chicken and vegies.

I have another Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday, with my mother, but she is a healthy cook. Still, that day I will have to eat pie, and that calorie high crust. We'll see.

Hugs -- Edith Started at 220, made goal 160 now I have to get there again :-)

Keep Dancing. Joy is the best exercise.

Thanksgiving and Christmas are my days off from calorie counting also. Of course, I know that I had more calories than normal, but I didn't sit and stuff myself all day long. Also, I made sure to go back to tracking my calories today. I want to get back under 200 lbs before Christmas, so I have an incentive to get back on track today.

I did a lot of walking today, but no planned workout. We are getting ready to go to the movies. Afterwards, I may come home and do a walking video. If not, I'll be sure to get my run in tomorrow.

Congratulations to everyone for doing so well!

Thanksgiving & Christmas are the two days I will not track calories. Having said that, I still tried to watch what I ate: lightish breakfast & dinner. Had small portions of pie, no alcohol, little cider, small tastes of everything. I brought several types of apples to cut up for a salad (along with pears & a persimmon, went for seasonal fruit salad). That went over well as several of us snacked on apples while waiting for lunch.
I ran around after a 3 year old all afternoon & we went on a walk after lunch. Today less calories than recommended (just by about 175 cal)& water fitnessclass. Tomorrow I get a naughty birthday lunch but balancing out the rest of day so I'll stay with in cal range. More walking in the morning as well ;)

I ate reasonably, always more than a normal day on Thanksgiving, But today has been a clean slate with Turkey Soup for lunch. All in all not too bad. Weight wise things are status quo. Been stuck on a plateau for about a month and a half. I think it is the little bites here and there adding up.

I tried to plan for the day. Had fruits and veggies most of the day to allow myself to enjoy the complete meal. I did have a half portion of two desserts but did not go over my calories or carbs.

I had to ignore all of the other values, sodium, fats, potassium. They were not going to work since most people season the foods and I couldnt possibly know the values.

I have to admit. . .I don't like most of the foods served on Thanksgiving. Turkey, OK, Dressing not so much. Pumpkin pie, YUCK!

But, this year I made stuffing according to Alton Brown (Good eats) recipe and . . .Uh Oh, at 2 servings with gravy.

Sigh. Still don't like pumpkin pie!

what have you done today to make yourself proud?

I ate a ton and didn't track my calories at all. I figured this is a twice a year type thing (with Christmas) and I wanted to enjoy myself. I did, however, have a great workout before dinner and was busy doing lots of baking to give away to our neighbors and bring to the party, so I think I burned a lot of calories. I got on the scale today and haven't gained at all. Hopefully I can keep it up!

ETA: I did manage to eat plenty of fruits and veggies before and during dinner. I ate an apple on the way to dinner so I wouldn't be as hungry, and it worked! I guess that's something!

I stayed within my calorie range easily by just having the one big meal, and snacks for the other 2 'mealtimes.' The only thing is that I track Sodium and the sodium was crazy high for the turkey. Is turkey really high in sodium?

I confess that I ate some unhealthy things to day, but that I ate small portions and managed to stay in my calorie range. Luckily for me there was not much in the way of sweets!!

Thanksgiving Meal consisted of:

turkey, ham, sweet potato, creamed corn, stuffing, broccolli, vanilla yogurt with apples. I don't think I overate, super small portions of everything I ate.

My daughter & I got out and did a walk/run early this morning, we went about 3/4 mile.

We had a good time all things considered, we had our meal at the rehab center. Trip was alright but we got side tracked and missed a turn, had to call for directions and we happy to get there.

Not only did I cook the turkey but I took a dessert. YES dessert,Vanilla yogurt with a can of apple pie filling mixed in, put it in the fridge the night before and it as once again delicious.

I used some of the Trivia I read from Sp yesterday
on our drive and it was so cool.

I will do what I can with what I have for Jesus sake Today.
