Dairy wise I use both Almond milk and/or Coconut milk. Do not miss dairy milk at all. Have a team on Spark and Facebook as well. Needs some help or recipes let me know.

Spark has a bunch of low carb recipes.
finished up on Homemade applesauce Sunday and made a new batch on Monday. Today it's cookies for the weekend.

Snack wisely!

I have not joined a Paleo team on spark, but that is a good idea, I am going to look to see if there are any. If I find a good one I will let you know. I'm still not full paleo, I still eat dairy currently, but I'm working on getting it out of my diet. I've found lower carb really works for me and helps my digestive system as well, so my goal is to get to where I am mostly Paleo, with the occasional grains maybe still in there.

How long have you been with Paleo? Wish I had heard of Paleo years ago when diagnosed with Diabetes. Perhaps by now I would be off all medication for Diabetes. Are you with the Team here on Spark?

Yeah, she might not be able to take it with her, but we will drive it while she is not here to keep it up and running for her. It's exciting though, the application process and waiting to see what school she will get into.

So I've committed to getting back on track today, eating and exercise wise. I'm back to my keto/Paleo eating and I'm ready to drop some pounds again.

Ah, the car. When oldest went to University of Kentucky, the did not allow cars for the first year. After that, it was money out for gas! UK also had warnings on checking accounts. three overdrafts and you were out of UK. Fortunately, I did not have to make that many trips to the bank. Actually, several times I felt that UK was my second home!

Have a blessed week.

weather is beautiful here in Dallas right now. Yes, she will have to be in a dorm. We haven't allowed her to work, we wanted her to focus on school so she can get into her dream schools. Depending where she goes, she may or or may not be able to bring her car also

Will she be living on campus?

She went to Europe for 6 weeks summer of 2015, that was hard, but I did ok I suppose. Yes she wants to go far away (2200 miles), and yes she has picked a major. She wants to dual major in computer science (like momma) and creative writing.

Yep, 4 months and we can put 2017 to bed and open up 2018.

Has she chosen a Major for College? Better yet, has Mom and child been far far in distance for that length of time. The separation of 180 miles torn me up when the oldest headed to UK in Lexington.

Have a great Labor Day weekend.

Yeah Christmas isn't far away, my breast cancer walk isn't that far away. The end of the year is closing in on us. I still wanted to try and make a trip to NYC this year for holidays, we've never been and wanted to check out Columbia which the kid it applying to soon...but not sure I have enough vacation left, etc to do so.

Glad I'm not the only one battling Sinus/Allergies. Nights have been much cooler lately and have noticed the leaves are beginning to turn as well.

Besides if you check the calendar, Christmas is not that far away.

Good to know. Seems there is another possible threat to the Carolina brewing over the next 2 days. Hope the /weather channels prediction of that one meeting a portion of Harvey's winds.

Here this morning the sky has a funny green cast. It's so quiet outside, not a chirp note from the birds Both the cats are staying close and our Shiba is not staying outside long as well. Even the clouds are starting to look weird.

Stay safe!.

I am in Dallas, we are out of harms way. We are 400-500 miles from the storm. We've gotten a little rain and some cooler temps, but that is it. It is Houston that is being destroyed by flooding. They've got almost 30" so far, and another 30" to come over the next few days. Keep them in your prayers.

Been there Oh so many times. ..... Since I'm having success getting my blood sugars well down into range, that has become a steady goal to complete --- No Insulin by October.

Did you have a daughter that was starting college this year?

County Fair begins tonight. GD riding this year in 2 equestrian events. So will be adding up those steps as I can Tonight thru Sunday. Cookouts on for Mon. and Tues, not sure of the menus as of yet.

Fireworks have been going off nightly around this area for the past week. Animals are uptight about the noise. Rain due in here tonight and through Wednesday. emoticon ( Not good for the Fair )

Well, I'm glad it doesn't happen too often! lol
It is so hot here lately-you can't even breathe when you go outside! Still almost 80 degrees at night. I really don't like to sleep with the air on all night. I'd rather open the windows have the fresh air coming in but it's just been too hot lately.
They say it will cool to the high 90's next week! lol

We all have to do it, that one week every 8-9 weeks, so it's not too bad. There are weeks where you won't ever get called, and then weeks like I had where I was called every day after hours on my week.

I think that is asking a bit much to do both shifts back to back!

I have no plans yet for the 4th but my DD usually has something going on that I will go to:)

What about you, Michele?

Yes when we are on call, that's on top of our normal shift, the normal shift does not change. So my normal 6am-3:30pm schedule stays the same, and when I'm called at 2am, I still come in at 6am.

Every 8 weeks for 7 days sounds good unless you get called in and still have to do your regular shift-now that would be hard! You have to be young to do a job like that. lol

That every 8 weeks does not sound so bad compared to every other weekend. At least you have great notice to plan your activities. Hope Father's Day weekend is a dry one for you.
Our weekend is full of rain and more rain.

Enjoy!

Yeah I'm only on call once every 8 weeks or so, for 7 days 24/7. If I get called in the middle of the night, I'm still expected to make it in for my normal shift. Some weeks are easy, others not so much.

' On Call ' those were the days! Home Health on call with your patients 24/7 For as long as you were with a patient. Working all day then getting a call at 3 in the morning wa not unusual. Really wasn't all that bad as you could start you day then and get off work early. We had no long weekend or Holidays off. Yet it was rewarding in itself. Since I retired, I was and am still working 24/7. Caring for rescued animals is also a 24/7 gig. The reward as with a human is watching them recover and getting back home or finding a loving home. emoticon emoticon emoticon Thinking seriously about looking into Vet courses. Clients are readily available here on the Farm.

Weather advisories are up this week for those with respiratory problems. Time to get Hot, humid, and muggy. Stay Safe!

I work for a company that is a 24 hour business and I am on the critical back end development team. If something fails, we have to fix as fast as possible because it means credit card transactions are not getting processed. So the team I am on rotates the 24/7 for a week every 6-8 weeks.

On call is no fun! I used to work on call at the Salvation Army and we had 3 different shifts and you just never knew when you would work or even what shift you might work. Sometimes I had to work the front desk even though that wasn't part of my job at all. I regularly worked in the interim care ward, but also the women't dorm and it was always "exciting" not knowing where I would be working when they called me in:)

Had my annual Cardio visit today. Seems as if one of my developments from that Heart attack is a faint murmur. Therefore, until a revisit in October, my steps per day can not go over 3,000. Blood work is looking much better than last year's. All Cardiac workups are well in range or better. He even suggested I remain with the Paleo ( Diet ). States that style of eating will help reduce any arteries that may thicken.

That goal is half way through to completion!
Have a great week!

So we got the her ACT score on Tuesday. She scored a 33/36. This puts her in the top 1% of test takers nationwide. I'm so freaking proud of her, even if she is sad it wasn't a 35. She takes her SAT this Saturday, she said if she doesn't score at least a 1550, she is going to retake the ACT to be competitive....sheesh I only scored a 30.

MIT and Columbia are her first two choices and both are harder schools to get into, they both have an average ACT score of 33 and GPA over 4.0. Right now she is meeting their averages, but she wants to stand out. Her safety schools are SMU and UNT.

Sue, Welcome to the Fitbiters. I've had mine for over a year now. Don't leave home without it!
Be sure to check with Doc. on just how many steps you need in a day. Love the weekly reports I get each week. So far each week I'm increasing of every scale. Which Fitbit do you have?

Chris, MIT sounds challenging, What are her plans for the future?

Finally this is the 3rd day in a row with emoticon and No emoticon . Now all we need to do is get planting.

Weekend coming up, have a good one!

Did some shopping at Whole Foods with DD yesterday. I needed some Almond Flour and was looking for a few other flours, Almond was the bulk they had. So guess I'll go online to find the others. We had down pours off and on yesterday, so no yard or field work was done. So far today the skies are friendly.

GD has decided to attend a few Camps the year, these will be the first for her. One of them is an Equestrian Camp where Clover will be attending with her. This camp and the other one, need to be scheduled between her Hunter riding events for the Summer.

With everything going on around the Farm in the past year I can understand why DD was also late for the Family Gatherings through the years.

Have a good week!

Weather here this morning includes some rain showers, but it was nice to wake up to. I've done my meal planning for the week, now to meal prep after I do grocery shopping. I am already on my second load of laundry and have some house cleaning to do. Goal is to stay on track diet and exercise wise this week!

Praying for good results on your PET scan.
The doctor did put in the referral for my mammogram, even though I am only 37, she feels it's ok to start. My insurance may not pay for it, but that is ok.
All my well woman stuff and blood work came back normal, except my cholesterol was a little elevated (221). So I'm working on getting some more fiber and less red meat in my diet now.

I'm awesome as well! Weekend with my oldest back' Home Again In Kentucky'. Great Mother's Day Weekend. Healthy eating as both girls are also eating Low Carb. So naturally we spent time discussing the advantages of low carb eating. Myself, I have been wondering if my diagnosis of breast cancer would have been different if I had been low carb when I was in my 40s. Perhaps it will make as difference with my girls and granddaughter. Time will tell.

Have a great week with Safe Travels!

Doing well also. I went to Oklahoma to see my sister and niece for mothers day this weekend. We finally did something we'd been talking about since mum died. We got our first tattoos. We each got our own version of heart(s) with a pink ribbon in her honor. Surprisingly it didn't hurt at all. We were scared only to find out it's no big deal lol

2015 is the year that I want to stop recovering and start living again!

Aug. 9th, I will start the Ideal Protocol diet. This is a high protein diet where you can lose weight in a healthy way. I hope to have more energy and feel good for a change, and lose weight too!
