You have so much going on right now Jen. Thanks for checking in. Sending prayers.
Congratulations on the 8 pounds. That's wonderful. Exercise will come.........maybe when you are settled in your new digs!

Hi, all. Just doing my occasional fly-by.

Lots going on right now. We are preparing to have an apartment built in my mom's basement. My boyfriend and I and our cats will be living in that apartment. We expect the build to begin sometime in early June. There's a LOT that needs to get done before that build can start, so we are hussling! I have mixed feelings about the whole thing.

My own house will be rented out for a year, and then we will revisit selling. According to my real estate agent, the market in the DC area is weaker than it was in 2014! :( I'm hoping and praying for good tenants. The agent is coming over on Monday the 8th to look at our house and go over everything with us (we are also using him as our property manager--I prefer to stick with what/who I know. He's a decent guy.)

It's getting harder to get Mom and myself to the doctor, due to my work schedule and due to all that's happening with the house in WV (Mom's house.) I'm going to start just making appointments and asking my brother to help me, if he can. I'm due for some doctor appointments, too. Craziness!

Meanwhile, I have lost about 8 pounds, but I still don't have an exercise regimen. I am really trying to get there! I stay generally active, but I don't think it's enough.

I hope you all are well!

Ha Ha! That's very cute. I don't have anything to complain about either. There are plenty of things going on in my family and around me that are not pleasant, but complaining about it doesn't make it better. I'm glad to stay in gratitude.

Good to see you Wispy!

Good to see you Trish! Hope you have some normalcy back. You have been missed.

Wispy, so glad your adventure/vacation was better than you expected. Unplanned joy is so refreshing for the soul.

Yes, two awesome meetings in one day is so wonderful.

I went to a very emotional and spiritual meeting on Sunday night. Just happened that everyone had something powerful to share. Meetings are always best when no one plans the agenda, it just unfolds through honesty and authenticity.

Cool sharing. Thanks everyone!

Hi everyone just popping in to say hello and catch up with the chat.

Just got back from a short and lovely vacation.
I am just realising how much difference it makes in my life when I look for good in every situation. This is something I learned since joining the programme. It is interesting because I was a very negative person and always seemed to see the problems in everything.

These days my life is so much happier. It is not that the other stuff is not there, but my days and memories are full of all the good stuff. Our trip was an adventure and a rather eventful one as it turned out. But everything that went awry, every single thing turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It turned out to be so much better than we could ever have planned it.

Blessings Wispy

The semester is over, so hopefully I will be able to get back into balance for a bit. I haven't completely figured out what I'm doing this summer. My kid who went to college isn't coming home except for a week or two in August. So that's kind of sad.

Janael glad your dishwasher is up and running. And thanks about your kinds words about my son.

Jen, walking in the mall is a great idea.

Leslie, you are so right about the Twelve Steps. There is something I just learned in both Al-Anon and AA meetings......something like don't talk and listen more.....love it. It is really what I did at the beginning. I am leading the Al-Anon meeting on Wednesday. I am excited.

The presidency is just what I needed. I love it. I have already got a lot done with more to do. I love helping our neighborhood.

I am trying to reinstate or reactivate Tebow's Fans for Christ , a group I created. If I am chosen as leader I am going to go with this. I was gifted a NFL Tebow jersey from the Jets from my son who works for Nike. And....maybe he will have the same number and the colors are the same. God works in mysterious ways. LOL! Anyway, God has this situation. I LOVE emoticon !!!!

Speaking of sports, Grandma just has to show you a picture of my youngest athlete, playing the same position I played in softball.....catcher! Here's Kellen.....

Okay.....time for me to get some sleep. Blessings to all today! emoticon

Hi Team,
Jen, I'm glad you have the dishwasher in and running. That makes life nice.

Jenae, I'm sorry you are tired, but sometimes we have to honor our bodies. You are very consistent with your meetings.

Lynda, I'm so glad to hear your son made amends to you and your husband. He is certainly a wonderful example of how to work the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous slowly and thoroughly with the help of a good sponsor and meetings. It is always good to hear a success story of recovery and healing. Now he's ready for Step 10, the beginning of the maintenance steps. Congratulations to him!!!

I met yesterday with my new sponsee. She has been slow and meticulous about completing her 4th step writing. Next week she will share with herself, with me, and with God "the exact nature of her wrongs". She is looking forward to Step 5.

Very recently my neighbor of 39 years, my middle son, my best friend, and my sister have all been in various "life challenges" and have needed a listening and compassionate ear. I have been so grateful to be able to empathetically listen and give feedback when asked, without it being about me. The 12 Steps have been a blessing in my life and have helped me become "right sized" and "a worker among workers", as the literature says.

I try to hold fast to the truth that a full and thankful heart cannot entertain great conceits. When brimming with gratitude, one's heartbeat must surely result in outgoing love, the finest emotion that we can ever know. AS BILL SEES IT

That's great news about your son.

Good luck with the presidency!

The dishwasher was delivered, and my boyfriend installed it yesterday. It washes very well, but on the eco setting, the dishes don't get dry. I don't care about that. I just pop them in the dish drainer. We won't be running it every, single day.

I just want to send BIG emoticon to everyone today.

I am attending my Al-Anon meeting today. I am so blessed to be able to do so. This really helps me with DH and other family members who still have addictions. At the same time last Saturday brings me to tears of joy. Our oldest son came up to our house and beautifully Step Nine for me. Yes he made amends with both of us. DH was completely speechless and is still amazed at how our son has really got his act together. What a beautiful experience. Just wanted to share this personal moment.

I blogged today about an empowering moment i experienced yesterday which really prepared me for the business lunch which indeed went extremely well and resulted in a very good action plan for our neighborhood. Prior to becoming president, I sought my Higher Power for guidance. He will direct my path in this undertaking. Keep it simple. Let go and let God.

Yes, a meeting can really help strengthen us as we deal with day to day situations. I really need to focus on Step 12 and figure out how to reach out more to members of our Fellowship.

Have a Wonderful Wedndesay! emoticon

Hi Team,
Jen, I'm glad you found a dishwasher to help with the chores. You are very busy!!!

Jenae, I'm so sorry that your physical therapy went so poorly. That can be very frustrating. A meeting was the perfect answer to combat frustration and resentment. We recovering alcoholics are truly blessed to have a solution and a place to share.

Lynda, I hope the HOA presidency goes well. That is a very big responsibility.

I'm staying in prayer today about a family situation that has come to light. I, too, am grateful for meetings, a sponsor, and good friends who allow me to share and give me valuable feedback and meaningful solutions.

God is good and sobriety is such a blessing and a gift.

I try to hold fast to the truth that a full and thankful heart cannot entertain great conceits. When brimming with gratitude, one's heartbeat must surely result in outgoing love, the finest emotion that we can ever know. AS BILL SEES IT

Veg, wow! Can you ask for a new PT? That's unacceptable! Some pain is to be expected, but not like what you're describing. The attitude doesn't help either. Yikes!

Lynda, we DID find and buy one last night! I'm so excited! It is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I'm awaiting a phone call.

Busy at work today. Going to see my mom after and pick up her laundry, etc. She has an appointment Friday morning, to which I will be taking her, then Saturday, it's off to check on her house in WV. *whew*

Jen, I hope you find a dishwasher. I use mine all the time....it keeps the clutter away. LOL!

Physical therapy is supposed to help you. Good grief.......therapists are supposed to have positive personalities who inspire us to do more. I am so very proud of you, VEGGIE, for sticking in there and and going to a meeting as well. YOU ROCK!

I am heading for a lunch with a real estate sales person today to build as relationship between the real estate company and our HOA. I became the new president on Saturday. I need prayers as I compose a very strong assertive letter to an ex-resident who refuses to pay the annual HOA dues....her lot is up for sale. Whew......I do need prayer for this. I am not jumping into action immediately.......the old Lynda.....I am doing the Let Go and Let God.....and making sure I have all the information I need prior to composing and sending this letter.

Wow.....I see sun. It will probably be overcast, but it doesn't bother me......one of my favorite blue grass songs is emoticon God Put a Rainbow in the Cloud....we hava a lot of rainbows in Washington state.

Blessings and hugs!!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Physical therapy was a disaster today.
The therapist had an attitude as big as Texas and it wasn't a positive one.
The result was lots of pain and left in agony.
A few cold packs and Motrin later the pain was tolerable.
Went to a great meeting tonite.
Relaxing the rest of the evening.

Happy Monday, folks!

Had to back out on another comedy show last night, because I did too much and ran out of spoons. I was able to let the hosts know in advance, though, and they offered me a spot on April 26, so hopefully I can budget my spoons better!

Beautiful day outside today, but I have not gotten out in it yet. I try to keep myself busy all day, as I am a temp. ;)

My guy and I are buying a dishwasher, hopefully, tonight. We have the money together, but we've had trouble finding one that we like, that gets good ratings and will fit in our cubby hole. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We did OK without one, but as soon as we hit a busy batch or one of us got sick, the dishes would pile up. Yuck! Hopefully, we'll be back up and running in the next week or so!

I hope you all have a great evening!

Welcome to Marvelous Monday. We have a chance of sunshine and warm temps this week! emoticon i hope all is well with all of you.

I have to admit that I also have to work very hard to try to find balance in my life. It is a challenge. I have to let God be in control and put the harness on when needed. I can see how the meetings I attend help me reflect on my life as others share and it really helps to put everything in perspective. I love walking the Broad Highway together in Fellowship. emoticon And to be able to SPARK too is so awesome! emoticon

I am wishing everyone a MARVELOUS MONDAY! emoticon

Happy Sunday evening.
Good topic!!! Balance and moderation are two things I've continued to work on throughout my sobriety. I am prone to over doing almost anything I become involved with if I'm not vigilant and extremely honest with myself, my loved one, and my sponsor. I rely on the honest feedback of others I trust to keep me out of excessive behavior of any type.

Thank you, Vege, for bringing up the topic.

Hi Friends,
I'm back from another yoga class. That's 3 days in a row. It feels really good.
Today I have to hit the house cleaning really hard. My husband has been doing tractor work and weed eating so the place is really dusty and dirty. Tomorrow my kids and grand kids are coming home for a visit. I'm so looking forward to it.

Hope you are all well and enjoying the wonderful benefits of a sober life.

Hi Team,
I've been out of town more than in since last Thursday. All fun stuff. But, it has meant less Sparking.
Thank you for the link 10 toes. It did bring a smile to my face.
Jen, I'm sorry you fell. I'm glad you are okay. You have a lot on your plate, and a fall is definitely not helpful.
Wispy, good to see you here. I'm so glad we share so many teams. You are always an uplift.
Lynda, I'm sure you are filled with joy.

Have a sober, healthy, and peace filled week, everyone.

Hi there 10 toes, thanks for sharing.

Hope things are going well with you.

Hi Jen, I can understand the thoughts that must be going round in your head right now.

Sending prayers for us all in our individual needs.

Lynda, thanks for the support. I know I can turn to this team when I have a lot to say (and even when I don't.) Truth is, I have very mixed feelings about moving in with my mom and taking care of her (I would not be her primary caretaker--we'd hire someone--but I'd be responsible for a lot.) The disruption with work and getting my own house ready to rent out or sell and all that--it's just so BIG!

I fell on the way to a (non-recovery) meeting last night in DC. My glasses are scratched up badly, but I'm OK. Just a minor black eye. I'm going to file a claim with the city to try and get them to cover the cost of the repair to my glasses--or a new pair of glasses. I really can't afford this right now. :( At least I still have my old ones! My vision's not as good, of course, but I can manage.

Sounds like April is turning out to be a great month for everyone! :)

This was posted on another forum this morning. I felt somewhat inspired/enthused by this video so thought I'd share with this group.

I hope it brightens your day, too.

Yes.....April 1....Asher arrived about 10;30 in the evening weighing 8 lbs. 15 oz....Courtney went into labor on her own at 11 am when her water broke. Here's Asher.......
I just knew it was going to be special day because I stepped out on the front porch and immediately saw a very vivid rainbow as a deer walked across our lawn. Thank you Higher Power for all your blessings!

Blessings to all and emoticon

I am heading for a great AA meeting today. I enjoyed Al-Anon very much yesterday! I love what we say at the end of the meetings......"Keep coming back....it works! And I am worth it! "

Great 1st day of April. I walked with my sister this morning. She is doing really well with her weight loss and fitness goals.
We went to lunch with my oldest son and his wife. It was a beautiful day in every way.

Now I'm waiting for my sponsee to arrive for our weekly step study. She calls me during the week and we meet at meetings, but face to face is the best way for "brutal honesty" as the Big Book says. We are both enjoying working together.

We will go to restorative yoga this evening....Restorative is so meditative. We enjoy that particular practice each week in addition to our regular yoga classes.

Have a wonderful, sober beginning to you April everyone!!!

Wow....what great news from everyone. Janae......I always say grandchildren keep us young. What a wonderful time you are having with your family.

They removed the membrane from the womb today...Courtney still hasn't gone into labor.....they will induce tomorrow at 3 if she doesn't start labor on her own.

Wispy....another great dinner with your son. I LOVE Diet Coke. I hope everything goes well with the xray.

Bittercat......I am hoping you get everything settled and are okay with making these adjustments. I think we offer support to each other which for me helps me through changes and important decisions. We are here for you.

Leslie....Chris has had both cataract surgeries. Great news! It sounds like it went very well. And hearing aids too. Thank goodness for wonderful doctors.

I have wonderful news......I have a beautiful new sponsor and I am so excited. She is a member of SparkPeople and has already helped me so much. We are scheduling phone calls in the near future and she is such a great resource for me.

Well, I hope I have baby news soon. I guess Asher will be an April baby , not a March one. LOL!

Hi Team,
Good to see everyone doing so well. We all have lots of activities, duties, and life events on our plates! But, what a joy to take them all on and be present in the day. That certainly wasn't the case when we were drinking.

We are headed to a post op for my hubby. He had his second cataract surgery yesterday. He's all put back together now and feeling great. New hearing aides this month have helped too!

Onward! Sending you all blessings as we navigate a new day.

Hi there ladies,

Sounds like everyone is doing great.

I'm just dashing through tonight on the way out to dinner with my son. Was at Doc this morning. Got to have xray for foot on Thursday.
Then went to a lunch time meeting and am now getting geared up for the evening.

A long day for me, but the adrenalin is a great motivator. I can rest and relax tomorrow if need be.

Woo hoo. I love eating out and celbrating. Also love diet coke, which I never buy, but always drink on outings. :)

Had a wonderful day with my family!
I enjoy being a kid again with the Granddaughters!
Even got in a meeting tonite and collected clothing for a family of 4 whose home burned to the ground.
They have nothing left but their recovery, family and a strong support system.
Actually, they have a lot left!
Grateful I can help and encourage others to help.

Hi, all. Just wanted to check in and say "hello". Still as busy as ever, getting Mom's house ready for her to return home from the nursing home. We still don't know when, but I think we are getting close.

I'm also still working part time, and though they client has not hired me permanently, I went to my agency and asked for a raise, which they kindly granted. $.50/hour. Not too bad. Every little bit helps.

There are big changes on the horizon for me and D, but I don't want to say anything publicly until everything is finalized and in place.

I'm still doing my comedy. I performed last night. It's been going well, but I wouldn't say I bring the house down. People generally seem to like my material, but I don't kill. That's OK with me. If I make just one person laugh, I'm happy.

I'm still sparking, and I am losing a bit of weight, though I still do not have an exercise regimen. I'm eating less (most days), though, and I'm making myself walk to do errands when they are close to home or work and when the weather is nice.

I hope you are all doing well.

Janae and Wispy.......I have always been "grandma".....I even tried to change it myself to "grandmama"....they didn't buy it! LOL! However, my oldest sons call me "mamacita" because of my love for Spanish!

Leslie.....Paloma is already four? Good grief.....time is flying!

I am so happy to be sober so I can have strong relationships with my family....even though this year I resigned as Director of Family Drama......at least I am working on this. emoticon

I hope you all have a MARVELOUS MONDAY! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

ThIs morning I walked to my 11th step meeting. It's a great meeting and I get 3 1/2 miles in.
We shopped and ran errands. Now I'm going to call my aunt. That is always at least an hour call and so wonderful. Tonight I'm taking two cakes to the women's meeting. Two friends are taking a chip for their 12th and 15th birthdays.
Speaking of grands, my granddaughter turns 4 tomorrow. We celebrated with her other grandparents yesterday. Lots of fun!

Enjoy your meeting Jenae.
Wispy, that is a very special relationship between you and your granddaughter.

Girls, I am still on Baby Watch. Asher was due to arrive March 25....God has other plans!

Leslie, you are so right about sobriety allowing us to have good times with our grandchildren and family.

I am heading to church today....to a very small church. Small is better for me.

I am Nana to all the grand and great grand kids. Loving it.

We have rain again today. So very good after a long hot summer. I am just off our for my walk and will do some weeding if the rain is not to heavy. :)

Veg......what a beautiful time you had with your grandchild. What a very very special breakfast.

Leslie and Wispy......you girls are busy with meetings, as am I. I appreciate the diversity of the group members. I am so happy to be attending meetings.

I had a very special day yesterday as I finally met Michelle, the 28 year old who is battling cancer. I blogged about it this morning. I met courage face to face in the form of this incredible young lady. I am so inspired by her.

Glad to chat with everyone! emoticon

Veg you will be having such a great time. The little ones are always fun.
Enjoy the visit. Yes I do recall those early mornings with sleep overs. Happy Weekend. emoticon Now my grandkids are all grown and the great grand kids live too far away to visit often. But my youngest gd who is 19 is the apple of my eye and so good to me.

Leslie, that is all good news. Enjoy your celebration meal, I just know you will have an awesome time. Programme friends become so very dear. We share so much with each other.

Good for the sponsee on Step 4. I had to do that so many times. My past took a long time to deal with. As much from my buried feelings towards what was done to me. I had no idea I had buried so much under layers of food, sex and alcohol. :)

Thanks to 12 step programmes everywhere. So very grateful.

Good to see you here Wispy.
I went to a good women's meeting Sunday night. On Monday night after yoga I made it to a 12 & 12 meeting. That's a peaceful combo. Yesterday afternoon I met with my new Sponsee. She has finished step 3 and is going to read and begin 4th step work. Tomorrow (Friday) I'm going to dinner with my sponsor and another good friend in the program. The friend and I both celebrate our AA birthdays in March. My sponsor sponsors both of us. We've become very close!!! It will be fun. We're going to a Thai restaurant in town that we all love!!!
Peace to all!

Just realised I have not been getting a heads up for this meeting either. It has been happening a lot to me lately and now that I have started checking I am finding what has been going on.

Happy to see everyone here.

I was at an AA meeting yesterday and have an EA one this afternoon. We are so blessed.

Thanks for the love and support!
Have to stay home and rest tonite again.
The good news is that I am feeling a little better.
Had some muscle work done and a script for headache.
It seems to be working just for tonite.

Meningitis? Oh no, VEG954! You are at the top of my prayer list today. I hope you recover quickly. Good grief.....you are so resilient.

It is disappointing to not be able to attend a meeting. I didn't attend for years at all....not until this past October ....after I celebrated three years of sobriety. I really had been missing out on a lot. When I have to miss, I feel so sad because I really appreciate the stories and the wisdom I receive at each meeting.

I am cleaning house today to welcome our grandson home from college for Spring Break. He will be staying with us as he works this week as a pharmacy intern at Fred Meyer. His sister, Courtney who is pictured on my SparkPage is due to give birth at any moment. Wow....I really love our family.

VEG954....I wish I could email or text you some chicken soup to make you feel better. LOL!
Just know you are in my prayers today!

emoticon Leslie on achieving 13 years AFF on Sunday....it is so awesome to have the party to celebrate all the successes....your sponsee, you, your sponsor...the person with two months.....I love it.

I remember at one of the meetings last month a coin was given to young woman who had 24 hours of sobriety ....I can still picture her delighted face....she really needed support. I remember completing 24 hours......I was so shaky and floundering...but determined. This is incredible support.

I am heading to Al-Anon today and AA tomorrow. These are two meetings I do not miss. I love the picture of the sobriety coin Monika posted today. I never get tired of looking at them.
When someone earns a coin at our meeting, it is passed around for all to see. We celebrate Sobervaries monthly...so each month has a party. emoticon

Blessings to all today and always!

Aurlie, my roses are still alive. Wispy....I figured out how to reset the time in my SUV.....go to settings ....just like my iPhone. Technology rocks!

One of my sponsees is celebrating 5 years today. We will take a cake and a chip together on Sunday when I celebrate 13 years. My sponsor who has 16 years, my sponsee with 10 years, and my sponsee with 2 months will attend the meeting as well. This particular chip meeting usually has 12-15 women attending. Should be lots of fun!
I'm grateful and humble.

I try to hold fast to the truth that a full and thankful heart cannot entertain great conceits. When brimming with gratitude, one's heartbeat must surely result in outgoing love, the finest emotion that we can ever know. AS BILL SEES IT

I hope everyone is having a Wonderful Weekend!

Thanks to AA and Al-Anon I am having a marvelous weekend in spite of family drama. I think each crisis only strengthens my faith and I praise God for the opportunity to become stronger and to be able to apply The Serenity Prayer to the utter chaos that is consuming others.

Blessings to all! emoticon

Bittercat......did you get the kitten?

Leslie, Doug informed me that yes there are many different styles of introducing yourself at meetings. He also really enjoys his groups.

Where is everyone?

I have an exciting day of cleaning house and getting in 10,000 steps plus running errands.
LOL!
