Still trying to think of a lively tune that would be a good motivator. I guess I need to go to you tube. Anyone got any suggestions other than "These Boots were Made for Stomping" or "Monster Mash" Both of which we did at circle time in preschool.
#5 is.... 5) Try tipping your scales with blue. Did you know that the color blue is a known appetite suppressant? Why not use a little color to help you stay on track? “Eat your dinner on a blue plate and you'll discover that you need less to feel full,” advises color intuitive expert Elizabeth Harper.
I love blue. But I remember eating off a dark blue plate once and it was a bit nauseating. I suppose it is a subliminal reminder of mold or rot.

My theme song is "Faith of the Heart" by Rod Stewart.
Now I need to scroll down and see what you are talking about. Ahh....#48.....
Well it won't make me boogie, but it does keep my spirit positive. Guess I need to find a boogie theme song too.....How about Beer Barrel Polka.
In the meantime....#4 is....... 4) Pace yourself. Taking on too much at once is a recipe for disaster. Instead of taking on a bunch of new tasks you aren’t exactly looking forward to (a new exercise plan, new strict eating regime), why not take bite-sized action steps? “Work on a task you've been postponing for ten minutes and then decide whether or not to continue. If you discontinue the task, schedule another time to get it done” suggests Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of Integrative Health and Healing at Miraval Resort.
Due to the CFS, I do ten things or work ten minutes and then rest ten minutes or as long as I need to recuperate. Pacing really helps me to accomplish so much more each day.
ha...my theme song for today is "yesterday is dead and gone, and tomorrow's out of sight.....Help me make it through the day"

Thanks for posting these 50 great tips! Number 48 sounds corny, but fun. I will have to sit down and think about what I want my theme song to be.

I made brownies today, since it's snowing & my son is home for 2 days. I'm proud to say I only ate one, but had to get out of the kitchen & redirect myself to stop there! Let's hope, after son & hubby have their brownie tonight, I can freeze the rest without falling into temptation!

Yes, I gave my self a free day today. I only meant to eat half the taco, but ate the whole thing. Then I ate a package of MMs. I am glad there was only one small packet in the house, because I don't think I could have stopped. Then when I couldn't stop thinking about food, I came upstairs and started sparking to redirect my brain. The cravings have passed. Thank goodness. So, a good plan for me is to not have more than one serving of treat type food in the house at a time. I love the idea of having to go out for the ice cream. Excellent.
3) LIMIT but do not ELIMINATE. “Eliminating your favorite foods will just make you want/crave them more,” says Rania Batayneh, MPH. Instead, Batayneh suggests allowing yourself those less healthy choices, but finding a way to limit your intake (in portion or frequency) to avoid feelings of deprivation.
how are you all doing this? I try to allow myself "mini splurges" but often it seems that triggers me to turn it into not such a mini splurge. Like I try very hard not to keep ice cream in the house, because I will eat the whole package in one or two sittings. so if I want ice cream, I have to go out for it.

I need to get back to drinking my green tea. I should also take my vitamins. Thanks for the reminder.
I've been reading along, just haven't had time to post
My goal this week health wise is to drink my water (pretty easy for me most of the time) and to make sure to take my vitamins and calcium every day. Decided to focus on things I'm doing right instead of getting down on myself about stuff I am doing wrong.

This is too funny. I sent you a message to come back, while you were typing here.
I have finally decided that I'm not going to weigh what I did in high school, no way , no how. and not even close. but I think I have set a reasonable goal and one that I hope to maintain.

#2: Set Reasonable Goals.
100 pounds was too overwhelming. I reset my ticker in ten pound increments. Mentally, it has helped me stay on track and is much more rewarding to look at every time I lose a pound.
I found sweet potatoes to be tastier and more filling than regular potatoes. Hubby loves them too. He doesn't get heartburn with them like regular potatoes.
Same here, I bake a sweet potato for me, and a regular for him. And yes, he's eating so much better now. In fact, when he cooks, he always makes sure that what he fixes will be something I like eating. And he keeps the nutritional information for me to enter if it's something new.

I love sweet potatoes! Now I bake a sweet potato for me, & a regular one for DH. He's eating somewhat better, but hasn't embraced the whole healthy eating yet!

I don't like the use of the word "diet" referring to the restrictive use of food. To me "diet" is what I eat. I am now choosing a healthy diet and I have made lifestyle changes that I can live with the rest of my life. In fact, back when I first started this journey, I commented to DH that whatever I did would have to be something that I could do for the rest of my life, because I never wanted to be back to where I was then--in pain and with no energy.
So my short answer after the long comment is: No I choose healthily 95% of the time. I allow myself to have cake, etc if I want it. But I rarely really want it.

I would love to review and discuss these. Thanks for the idea. Here is the first motivator. ****** 1) Think wellness not weight loss. Do you only make good food choices when you are trying to lose weight? This could lead to rebound weight gain if you go back to your old habits once you’ve reached your goal. “You have to eat every day, so why not eat better every day?” advises Rania Batayneh, MPH. *******
This is a mentality that I am finally embracing. I am not waiting to lose five pounds so I can go out to dinner. I go out to dinner, know that there is way to much food on my plate, bring it home and enjoy it for three more meals. I am also learning that graham crackers taste as good as candy and one graham cracker is also healthier. I am learning that a sweet potato is much healthier and yummier than regular potatoes and even bread. I am trying to embrace this one with all my heart.
