I posted this thread on several of my teams, & I'm so glad I did. There have been such great accomplishments. I really think it helps to keep you motivated for the next year to see how you did on the past year.

Okay, this has been a tough assignment. I've combed my last year's calendar for clues and I have a small list so far. WHICH has got me really, really thinking about this coming year...

This time next year, what would I like to be reporting about 2009? What "very cool" things would I like to say I've done this year?

I think I will also be writing that out. I'll be posting them both to my blog when finished.

With love and joy,
Kelly

I've been thinking about this for several days and finally realized that I DID accomplish something in 2008 (besides gaining 25 pounds back)

We cleaned out the garage of all of my husband's tools. Hubby died almost 5 years ago, and we finally felt ready to do a purge on his tools. We are half way through purging the camping gear (he was a boy scout leader and my boys were both in boy scouts when they were young enough)

The other thing I did was not to give up. even when changing meds (and some emotional eating) made me gain weight. I still stuck with it.

All the so called "secrets of success"will not work ... unless you do.

This is such a GREAT idea...I am going to have to work on it for a while. But, absolutely, I am going to start my New Year by giving myself some due recognition.

I really had to stretch to come up with some of these, but I wanted to show that EVERYONE can come up with some positives to post. Even if you didn't meet a particular goal, you likely learned something from it.

Wow! I'm impressed! I'm lucky if I can accomplish 1 Resolution a year. I need to learn how to attain my goals, and keep my focus, when life is happening. I have a lot to learn.

Okay, here's your chance to brag, focus on the positive, & make you feel good about yourself. Tell us what your 2008 accomplishments were, no matter how small or large! Also, list all of the other good things that happened in your life!

1. I learned a lot about setting goals. I started the year with some very complicated goals, but in the end found that some really basic goals for the year, then a few more detailed goals each month based on the yearly goals worked best.

2. I learned that my weight is VERY much affected by the soda I drink, the stress in my life, & the amount of sleep I get.

3. Iíve found that I really like DDR (Dance Dance Revolution), & itís a great form of cardio for me.

4. Iíve cut down on soda from 2, 3, or more per day to 1-2 per day, with the caffeine limited to 1.

5. I learned that the best way for me to eat is to follow the 90-10 rule (eat the way I should 90% of the time, & cut myself some slack the other 10%).

6. Although I had a little scare, I did NOT have a recurrence of the breast cancer! Whew!

7. Iíve found that the key to keeping my house clean & tidy is to have things decluttered, & everything in its place. I can typically be ďcompany-readyĒ in an hour or less.

8. We finally got the large weeping willow in our yard cut down (trunk is still remaining, but DH can handle that) & got rid of some junk thatís been in the yard pretty much since we moved in 21 years ago!

9. Andy finished my exercise room!

10. I found ways to make the holidays much easier, less stressful, & more fun.

11. I quit my job to stay home, & I love being home! And this has greatly reduced my stress!

12. I learned that I had to be in charge of the household finances in order to be successful financially. Andy is good at making money, but terrible at handling it.

13. I learned how to sell on eBay.

14. Andy & I sold a lot on eBay, including a truck!

15. I learned a lot about refinancing a mortgage, remodeling, estimating costs, how to make the most of the space we have (or will have in a new house), what we like for a decorating scheme, & even buying & selling a house. Some things really surprised me, including that I really want a fireplace!

16. I learned that I can do our taxes, even with the part-time business! And this led to realizing that the money I made in a lower-paying job wasnít worth me working outside of the home.

17. We made some very smart financial moves, including paying off some debt (credit card debt down $2,600, total debt down $15,000), getting a lower rate on a major card, & trading up on my car which lowered the payment in the process (due to a lower interest rate).

18. We had a better garden this past year that the prior (which was our first), & I learned a lot about landscaping & what I like. Plus, itís another great form of exercise for me.

19. We got my Mom moved into a more affordable place, closer to us.

20. Candy graduated from her junior college & got accepted to SUNY.

21. We had a couple of nice vacations in our camper.

22. We had a successful luau this last summer, & we learned that we need to set a date & hold the luau, no matter what the weather. (We now have shelter for bad weather.)

23. I got some really nice gifts for my birthday & Christmas this year.

24. Iím getting some crafts done & incorporating more fun into my life.

See? It really looks like a great year when you lay it all out! Now YOU do it!
