I use the myfitnesspal app on my smartphone. I really like it; it seems no matter what I scan, the item is there... and I scan everything....Well, unless I'm eating out of course.
Edit: I'd like to add that another great smartphone app is the Fooducate app. You can use it to scan items while you shop for groceries. It gives information like if the product contains artificial flavors, trans-fats (even if he label says 0), etc. There's also a grade given to each product (A through D). It's not perfect but it's a great app!

I use myfitnesspal also on my smartphone...much more user friendly ironically than the Sparks app.

I am also a fan of the apps for smartphones. But if I had to pick a book, CalorieKing is a good one. They update every year or two and have fast food stuff listed. Also, it cost about $10, so not a major investment.
if you have a smartphone, i like the apps better because my phone is always with me. i have the restaurant, fastfood app that has every chain listed, updates all the time, and i use myfitnesspal for the rest because they have every good mentioned even the generics you find at walmart and target lol

I'd like to get a calorie counting book, you know one of those guides that tells you how many calories in are in food. I don't always have my computer available to me so to have a guide I can use to help plan meals would be very helpful. Any suggestions?
