Wow, 405 in 30 minutes. For me it's about that for 60 minutes. I'm 34 and 271 pounds and I work hard in it. My goal is to get all 5 stars and gold stars.

Maeinbelguim, 405 cal in 30 min, thats awesome if that's true! I am going to underestimate for sure since i think the calories are probably for an average 140-145lb woman. I was just hoping that i was burning more than what the game says you burn. I can't find a way to put my stats in on the game to get an accurate reading and it says you burn 100 cal/20 minutes in fitness mode no matter whether you are doing easy mode or hard mode and that seemed kind of disappointing to only be burning 200 cal after 40 minutes of sweating my ass off. I suppose if i spent more money on a better monitor i could get a more accurate reading. I will have to put that on my list for the next time my husband buys me a present lol.

i read the more you weigh, the more calories you burn. so it's harder for someone smaller to burn the same amount of calories than a larger person in the same amount of time. but like Maeinbelgium said, at least you are burning some calories. And if you are doing the dance in hard moves, that will be a good workout.
Personally, I would rather underestimate than overestimate my calorie burn.

I use a chest strap heart rate monitor. I am 5'4" and weigh 180-ish. The monitor told me 30 minutes, 405 calories. I'm not declaring it correct or not - just that's what it said.

In any case - DC & DC2 kick my butt, no matter how many calories it is.

yes, i do think its off too, but i am doing every dance in hard mode and i strive to do them perfect and i am drenched in sweat by the time i am done and my breaks are only as long as it takes for the game to load the next song, i am not pausing between the dances other than the loading time. How often should you take your pulse when trying to calculate an accurate calorie burn reading? My heart rate was averaging between 150-170 i believe, could have been a little higher on a couple readings but i don't remember. I thought heart rate monitors were supposed to be one of the most accurate ways to track calories?

Sorry but That sounds way off & too high. You have to really kick booty on the treadmill or elliptical to burn at least 500 calories in your weight range for 30 minutes... so to burn almost 600 in 40 minutes by a dance game where you are taking breaks between each song... I doubt it. sorry

Has anyone used a heart monitor to track how many calories they burn while playing these games? I used one yesterday, it's not a chest strap one though, its one where you put your fingers on the monitor to get a reading. Anyways, every other song i gave the monitor a reading while waiting for the next song to start and after 40 min it said i had burned 580 calories. You think this is accurate? That would be awesome if i was burning that many calories while playing this game but i am skeptical so i thought i would see what others are burning. BTW, i am 33 and weight 138, although the monitor only lets me put in my gender and age, not my weight so thats why i think the calorie burn might be a bit off.
