Hey KRISTA-GIRL. By +1 you 'like'd the group (think Facebook). If you want to see the groups postings in your stream (the messages on the main page) you will have to add them to your circle (button on the top right).
I'm a tad confused (shocker! ;-) I'm pretty sure I already have a Fitocracy account, but when I clicked for an invite (I thought it was for your particular group), I got a note that said that they would let me know when Fitocracy was open to the public. Did that happen to anyone else?
Edit - I +1'd on Google+. Was that the right thing to do?

Sorry for the late reply, but Fitocracy is another fitness-related site that caters to gamers through quests, achievements, and leveling up. Compared to SparkPeople, the Fitocracy site is extremely bare bones and much less sophisticated. However, we do have a Kinect to Fitness and Health group there with over 50 members: not bad for a site that is still in a closed beta.
On that note, I am a little concerned about the medical backing of Fitocracy. With SparkPeople, we know we are geting sound medical advice that is not too crazy. Spark employee medical professionals and fitness experts to make sure we are on the right track. Fitocracy is an effort to gamify working out and I don't see too much that provides healthy insights--it is more like a competition on who can work out the most. The thing that really scares me is they are partnered up with Red Bull to draw in more active members--that's actually really scary.
Long story short, the site has a nice motive and offers a unique twist. I think there are some helpful things that will keep folks motivated to workout, so that is why we have a presence there as well.
If anyone knows any other fitness or health sites that we can partner with, feel free to let me know. In the meantime, keep on sparking!
