Mr. went online to download a new game. The short version of this story is some low-level hacker got into his account, took all his Microsoft points and then sold them on the marketplace. We know it's a low-level hacker because he left an electronic print behind (we were able to give customer service the person's xBox live account name AND the console serial number. Whoops!)
Right now we can play things, but we can't connect to online accounts or store certain data. (I have an arts degree, so I don't understand all of it.)
So, I have two things to pass along.
1. We think this happened through EA Sports, particularly through one of the soccer games. If you have an account there, make sure you check your own account from time to time. Then again, checking your account is probably a good idea.
2. Customer service with XBox/microsoft is wonderful. Mr. said they were so nice and helpful. He didn't get upset at any point during his conversation with them.
